[+] 8.0 Good so far...
So I got this lens today and I wasn't expecting much after reading some of the reviews, but I must say, it is a pretty good lens for its price. This far, I think I really got more than I paid for. I bought it for my Canon 450D (XSi) so I needed the 58mm adapter (which came with the lens, as well as a 52mm adapter) and it just screws on to the 18-55mm lens that my camera came with. It wiggles a little bit, but its not too major. The real hassle is when you take the lens off, you have to take the adapter off as well before putting the cap back on; and like others have said, the cap for the lens doesn't fit perfectly snug and will fall off if you aren't careful with it.

As far as quality, it does give you half of a barrel if you zoom out all the way, but at 26mm there is no barrel and you still have the fisheye effect, not as good as when it's zoomed out all the way (18mm for me), but still noticeable. The macro works great, but I primarily got this lens for the fisheye effect and it delivers. Of course, it isn't as good as the 600$ fisheye lens, but it gets the job done, and for 40$, I don't think I can squeeze more out of this lens. Invest in it, it is worth the price, and a nice little "add on" for your photographic needs. And like others have said, you don't have much to lose.

[+] 2.0 Fish Eye Lens??
I'd LOVE to be able to write a review on the pictures this lens allows me to take...but the lens didn't come with a step up/down ring for my 58mm Canon Rebel XLI camera and NO photo shops I've gone to have the size I need to fit this adaptor lens to my camera.
VERY frustrating.

[+] 8.0 Works...
Yep, you know what they say: "You get what you pay for".
All in all I am quite satisfied with this purchase. Obviously you won't get the quality pics you would with a dedicated lens, but for the price, you can't go wrong. I use it with my Canon Rebel XTi and the results are pretty good. I use it most for landscape shots.

Received the lens, adapter ring, and lens cleaning kit: what a bargain!

[+] 10.0 Fun Fun Fun
This product arrived exactly as it was supposed to along with a free lens cleaning kit. It screws on to the kit lens that came with my Canon Rebel XT. Images have been sharp and clear and never dissapointing. I couldn't have asked for more in this fun little lens! Highly recommended to everyone!!!

[+] 6.0 Not bad but expected a little more
I purchased this lens about 1 month ago and I'm generally pleased with it. I have a Canon Rebel XTi with a kit IS 18mm-55mm standard lens. In a nutshell, here's what I think.

The pros:
- low price
- lightweight
- sharp image
- includes lens bag
- creates interesting effects
- creates great macro shots

The cons:
- Compatibility with Canon 18mm-55mm IS lens. Requires 2 "step down" rings to mate the lenses together. As a result, this produces a porthole effect (which might be what you're looking for)
- step down or up rings are NOT included with this lens
- lens caps do not fit snug and always fall off. They're pretty useless.
- edge detail falls off considerably (blurry) with blue edges forming on high contrasting objects.

The verdict:
To achieve the desired effect (fisheye warped / wide angle shots with sharp detail on the extreme edges), this lens does not do that so I'll be looking around for a true Canon / other band fisheye lens.

[+] 6.0 Hmmm.
It's a little flimsy, and doesn't really fit on the rebel all that well. With a larger lens it doesn't really have much fish eye at all. Since it's not the right size for my lens and has to go on an adapter ring, there's a little vignetting around the edges.

A friend of mine has a video camera that it fits on without the adapter ring and it looks cool for that.

Overall, it does work... sort of... but I wish I had spent a little extra cash and bought something a little better.

[+] 2.0 Ouch!
If you are in the market for fish-eye and don't have a lot of money, PASS on it. Find something else. Terrible pin-hole pictures, NOT FULL FRAME. Adapter rings are hit and miss. Well I guess you get what you paid for.

[+] 6.0 A cheap toy, good for experimentation
Obviously the price should let you know that this isn't going to be the quality of a real fisheye/wideangle lens. However it's great to play around with, and I have gotten some awesome images with it. There is blurring around the edges of the photographs if you zoom all the way out for wideangle, but the macro works really well. It's fun to have, especially for the price!

[+] 10.0 Good Deal
for the money. not quite as "macro" as I'd like but for the money I can't complain.
Would buy from these people again.

[+] 8.0 Great for the price, good for what it does.
This lens is a good wide-angle lens. It's an extender on your regular SLR lens. It gets a little annoying screwing and unscrewing the lens when you need to use it. It's so much easier to pop a whole lens off and snap another one on.

For the price though, this is a great lens. It provides a nice wide angle shot. The pictured look great. When we use it, we either plan to use it a lot or screw it on when we get somewhere and then take a bunch of pictures then tuck it away.

It is a good lens to have in your quiver if you don't mind all the screwing.

[+] 2.0 Nice quality ! won't fit rebel xti !
I was impressed with the quality finish ! I searched for some instructions much to my surprize ,there was no clue or decriptions. INCLUDED WAS A RING ADAPTER TO WHAT AVAIL? THIS LENS IS DESTINED TO BECOME A PAPER WEIGHT.

[+] 10.0 Best $31 I've ever spent
I bought this lens as a much cheaper alternative to a Canon macro and fisheye lens. I wasn't expecting much because it was so cheap, but it arrived today and I am insanely happy with it. I'll definitely be recommending this to all my friends.

[+] 10.0 Great lens for the price
This is a great lens for the price. Other wide angle lenses cost a few hundred dollars. I work in real estate and need to photograph small empty rooms. Without this lens I could only capture a corner. Now I can capture the entire room. I use this lens with my Canon Rebel Xti and it takes decent pictures for what I need.

[+] 10.0 Great product (especially for the price!)
I just bought this lens to go with my Rebel XTi, not really knowing what to expect, and I couldn't be happier with it. It has given me some great results and everything looks so cool with it :) It's definitely worth the money, and seller was great to work with-- even gave me some free lens cleaner. Can't beat that!

[+] 2.0 Are you serious?
Let me state that the only reason I gave this product 1 star is because it wouldn't let me give it none. This lens is the biggest disappointment. I ordered with the lowest expectations possible. And yet received something that amazed me at how poor the quality is. This lens is useful if you plan to take a camera that takes beautiful images and convert it into a science project pin hole camera. Do not buy this. It's not worth the hassle of sending it back. Plus it will show up a week late as is. The manufacturer should be ashamed. It is useless.

[+] 6.0 Does what it is supposed to do
This lens does what it is supposed to do - but just that. It feels flimsy, and in all honesty, I felt somewhat like I was putting a walmart sticker on a Tiffany bag when using this lens on my 30D. I decided to go with a dedicated canon fisheye lens instead. You will NOT be disappointed by the shots that you get with the lens - the fisheye effect is strong and the shots clear. You might be disappointed by the quality of the lens itself.

[+] 6.0 It is what it is
I use it for the fish eye when I photograph funny faces my kids make....that's all I have found use for it, but it makes them laugh and for 35 bucks it's all worth it!

[+] 6.0 you get what you pay for
it's a fun toy, but don't expect it'll give you amazing images. But for $40, it's a pretty fun toy to have!

[+] 8.0 The reason it didn't fit my camera!
I got this lens for my Canon Rebel and could not get it on to save my life. I took it to a camera shop and they thought that maybe 47th St had sent me the wrong ring adapter. When I called 47th St Photo they knew right away why I was calling! Apparently Opteka changed the threads on the end of the lens and didn't notify them so they had sent out the wrong adapters. I am sure that from now on people who buy them will get the correct one and I'm so glad it was a minor issue!

I haven't taken any pictures with it yet, obviously. And I knew ahead of time that there would be the circular vignette around the pictures, I did some reading online about the different fish eye lenses before I ordered one. These reviews are great places to start, I would recommend that people read these before they actually buy the product!

[+] 6.0 Thought this was a full fisg eye lens...
Didn't realize I was buying a 'semi' fish eye.. as nothing in the description said so. :( was disappointed about that. Had i known..i would have look elsewhere.
But the lens is okay.. no real instructions or any information on how to use.. unclear as to what the 'hood' or whatever that thing is..does.
The lens cap/cover just fits over it.. nothing too secure, so it keeps popping off.

[+] 8.0 Fun lens for decent price
For the price you pay for a wide angle lens, or fish eye lens - it's a decent price. If you break it, you don't feel as bad since it doesn't cost so much. The limitation is a black ring circle (from the lens) on a rectagular or square format (the photograph). Don't really have issues with the quality of the photograph. Overall, you can't really beat the price.

[+] 10.0 You get what you pay, even more
The lens really is a pair of two lenses. Assembled both, become a semi-fisheye/wide lens what, has that circular border (as in a common door fisheye) that gives the photo some interesting effect. Also, you can have wide angle photos just changing the focal length.

The second part is a real cheap macro lens that can be detached. It has some interesting features and you can get decent pictures with almost no distance at all (though, you need some light). There's a small distortion, but it can be handled easy.

It comes with a couple of adapter rings (52mm and 58mm) for different cameras. I used it with a Canon Digital Rebel XT and it really gives you the idea of a wide angle lens. It may not be as some professional lenses, but the desired effect is enough.

Above all that, it's insanely cheap for a wide/macro lens. And that's a good combo for less than 40 bucks.

[+] 8.0 Fisheye Lens Gets The Job Done
This was great, it came with tons of lens adjuster things and the fisheye itself was flawless. I have personally seen higher quality ones where the lens distorts the image even more than this one does [in the good sort of distortion that you are going for with a fisheye] but this one gets the job done. I would buy from these people again.

[+] 6.0 Black Barrell if you have a 58mm
I have a canon GL2 and wanted a wide angle or fisheye. I have no real complaints about the quality of this lens, but do have a big warning. If you buy this for a 58mm camera, it comes with step up rings for you to get up to the 58mm but this creates a black barrell on the outside when you want the big wide angle shot. Though this can be a cool effect, it is probably not want you want. So be warned before buying, and get a different lens that is a true 58mm if you want to get an uncluttered fisheye effect. For the macro however since you are usually filming something way close, it isn't a problem.

[+] 8.0 Inexpensive and Effective
Although a fixed-focus add-on wide-angle lens will never provide the flexibility and optical quality of a camera manufacturer's own product, this is a very inexpensive, instant, useful way to extend your camera's capability. I've found this lens very useful for large group portraits and wide angle nature and garden shots.

[+] 6.0 You get what you pay for...kinda.
Works best as a macro lens. It does "fisheye" but the quality is not very crisp. The lens hood is kind of useless, and the protective caps for the lens itself don't fit very snug.

The biggest disappointment I had with this lens (besides the mediocre quality of the fisheye effect) is that there is NO DOCUMENTATION ANYWHERE to be found as to how to use this lens.
I had to call email the seller for answers, and they said the same thing.

All in all, it's a fun little lens, just don't expect much quality from it. In fact, it will "step down" how good your camera is. In the end, the difference is about $500 bucks between this and an actual dedicated fisheye lens.
