[+] 10.0 This one definitely goes up to 11.
What more can I say that hasn't already been said? This is one of the greatest hard rocking albums of all time. AC/DC sounds like they are playing on top of a cliff as lightning is striking in the background. I don't need to say any more. Buy it already.

[+] 10.0 Good as Gold
The entire album is good, head banging, body rocking fun that lifts you out of your chair and onto the floor to shake it, shake it, shake it, shake it, shake it! I love all kinds of music. My heart, though, belongs to rock, and this is the bruising, sexy rock that I missed during my R & B and Rap years. But, I'm Back...In Black!

[+] 2.0 Terrible band with a horrible guitarist! I'd take Britney Spears anyday!
I was watching an MTV music video last week and saw that Jet had an AC/DC shirt... i was like woah! If the singer likes AC/DC, and since jet is good hopefully AC/DC is better. WRONG! This cd is so boring! The riffs and guitar solos aren't impressive.. Plus, how is this one of the best selling cds ever?

For good bands check out Jet, Britney Spears, Limp Bizkit, New Kids on the Block, Whitney Houston, Milli Vanilli, Jessica Simpson, Bubba Sparxxx, Master P, 50 Cent, Vanilla Ice, and Shania Twain.

[+] 10.0 THE GREATEST HARD ROCK ALBUM OF ALL TIME!
Actually, Led Zeppelin's catalog surpasses any other band's in terms of musical quality, but for an album that is focused on balls to the wall hard rock, Back in Black is IT. Nearly every song is killer, no filler. Well, for me "Let Me Put My Love Into You Baby" and "Rock and Roll Ain't Noise Pollution" are kind of lame, but the strength of the other tracks just demolishes any of the album's weaknesses. Everybody knows the greatness of "Hells Bells", the title song and "You Shook Me...", but I think an overlooked song is "Have A Drink On Me"...THE GREATEST HARD ROCK SONG EVER! I thought that when I was 14 (when I bought the album) and still think that today (I'm now 41). A bluesy, killer intro riff, catchy chord changes...and that passage from where it builds up after the solo into that SCORCHING last verse (kind of like a bridge at the end of the song)...KICKS A*S!!! That song alone is worth twice the price of the whole album!

So if you're only going to buy one AC/DC album, this is it, hands down. 20 million buyers of this disc are not wrong.

[+] 8.0 A Classic
This is the Quintessential AC/DC album. Anyone who has heard an AC/DC song has probably heard one of the many hits from this album. I haven't gone to a wedding or Company Xmas party(with a DJ) where I haven't heard at least "You Shook Me All Night Long"!

[+] 10.0 5 Stars...c'mon, was there ever any doubt?
AC/DC is one of those rare bands that all these years later, I can honestly say that I still enjoy listening to--almost as much as I did when I first heard it back in '80. It's also one of the ONLY bands that bring me and my oldest son together...something I cannot say about the music MY Father used to listen to.

Debates have raged for YEARS over who is better, Brian or Bon...? Honestly I love 'em both. While to this day SOME people have a problem being able to distinguish between the two (and some of those people even consider themselves FANS), I noticed the difference the second Brian began singing on the very first track I heard, which I believe was the title track. It took all of maybe 45 seconds for me to become a total convert. As long as I can get that old AC/DC FEEL, I honestly didn't care who sang it.

Originally Back In Black was a tribute album to the late Bon Scott, and at that point nobody in the band had a clue whether or not the record would be well received enough to warrant staying together or splitting up for good. I think virtually everyone was stunned to recoginize that not only did the band pull out all the stops with Back In Black, but the band was far from over. Good thing, too.

This new incarnation is EVERY bit as impressive as everyone is saying it is. I think a LOT of us have heard so-called Re-Mastered CD's that just don't live up to the hype, but that certainly isn't the case here. Those of us who listen to detail almost to the point of being a Geek about it can tell you that the process mastered here with this version truly has out-done themselves. Kudos to the Producers who literally made magic happen. Crisp and clean, very clean. I've been in the broadcasting business now for nearly 20 years and one of the perks and also one of the downfalls is constantly hearing songs recorded digitally, and some older songs recorded analog-style just plain suck. It's painfully obvious when that hiss plays where a recording has or hasn't been either done or done well...but once again, for those of you who go out of your way to look for that sort of dynamic in the recordings you listen to, boy have you have GOT to listen to this one.

While arguments will probably continue to soar over the inclusion of Back In Black as one of the Top-10 Greatest Heavy Metal albums of all time (in my opinion it VERY much deserves to be ON that list), there is NO doubt that this Re-Mastered version is (at this moment anyway) the cream of the crop. Worth EVERY penny for you to upgrade your collection.

Best album by ACDC I loved Bon Scott but Brian Johnson is a one in a million replacement. Its so rare for lightning to strike twice for a group after a lead singer goes but here it did. 5 stars best of the best!!!!!!

[+] 10.0 AC/DC Back In Black
After being sad about Bon Scotts death AC/DC set out too find the replacement singer. They soon found what they were looking for, Brian Johnson and than set out work on there biggest album too date 1980's Back In Black. By the time they were done recording it they had 10 hard rock tracks that were destined too sell such classics as, "Hells Bells", "Shoot To Thrill", "Back In Black", to the hard rock ballad, "You Shook Me All Night Long", things never stop rocking on here. Though its not the same as Bon Scott era AC/DC i think it lives up too that. Too date this album has sold over 25 million copies worldwide and still sells to this date. And its actullay a silent tribute too Bon Scott. It truly was the beginning of an era and era thats still living to this day with AC/DC's upcoming realese, "Black Ice".

[+] 10.0 <<< FEEL >>>
So many bands consider AC/DC music as simple three chord blues but this is just not accurate enough. So many bands try to cover these classic songs but they never get it right or hammer it home. The reason of course is what is called "feel". The sound of this album is so atmospheric, you could cut it with a knife. You can feel the sadness, the anger and despair of losing Bon. You can feel the sense of urgency to make what had to be the best product of their career and what you get out of listening to this is an education. You learn exactly why AC/DC has outsold The Rolling Stones, Aerosmith, and even the mighty Led Zeppelin because the music is never pretentious. It never tries to be more than just what it is which is good time, hard driving sweat soaked rock and roll and it is sincere.

[+] 10.0 Rightfully one of the greatest albums and examples of triumph over tragedy 28 years on
AC/DC's sixth US release Back In Black is one of rock's all-time classic records.
Released in July of 1980, this album was a classic case of triumph over tragedy. After the death of lead singer Bon Scott (their larger than life frontman) from an accidental drinking binge, the band were faced at quitting. However, it was Bon's own parents who recommended that the band soldier on.
Guitarists Angus and Malcolm Young, bass player Cliff Williams and drummer Phil Rudd enlisted Welsh born singer Brian Johnson and soldiered on. The band relocated to Compass Point Studios in the Bahamas with returning producer Robert John "Mutt" Lange and engineer Tony Platt to record this classic masterpiece. Instead of going reggae or carribean (whereas many bands who went there experimented with some carribean sounds, save ELP who recorded their album Love Beach at that same studio in 1978), Back in Black was all about the three fundamentals of rock and roll. Sex, drugs and rock n' roll and Brian screams rather than sings.
The opening "Hell's Bells" is a masterpiece with lead guitarist Angus' guitar riff. The bell at the intro came to the band whilst Malcolm was in the restroom and was recorded at a bell foundry in England as the album was being mixed in New York. "Shoot to Thrill" was inspired by the old Western movies and instead of guns, guitars are the weapons for the rock and roll outlaws. The following three tracks "What Do You Do For Money Honey", "Given the Dog a Bone" and "Let Me Put My Love Into You" are all great rockers which still sound great today.
The album's second half kicks off with the title track which came about from a riff on the Highway to Hell tour and was another Top 40 hit for the band. The Top 40 hit "You Shook Me All Night Long" is a classic despite the fact Mutt wanted less words but AC/DC outvoted him. "Have A Drink On Me" is a great riff from rhythm guitarist Malcolm Young and is a great send-off to Bon. "Shake a Leg" is next and is a killer rocker. The closing "Rock and Roll Ain't Noise Pollution" is a kiss-off to the band's critics with a classic evangelist parody from Brian at the intro.
The album became AC/DC's first US Top 5 album (hitting #4 in the fall of 1980) and is their biggest seller (21 million copies and counting in the US alone). In 2003, a new remaster was released and the sonic quality and booklet is phenomenal and the digi-pak art reminds me of the original LP sleeve.
Highly recommended!

[+] 10.0 it shook me
The single, "Shook me all night long," was what got me hooked on AC/DC. The groove, the sound, even the odd-ball vocals had me paying attention.

This album is hands down a rival for their best work. It's energetic, entertaining, and sounds good at any volume. Sure, it's "meat and potatoes" rock, but it doesn't need anything fancy.

Kick back, crank it up, and enjoy!

[+] 10.0 Rock, y

[+] 10.0 One of the best
This is the first album with new lead singer Brian Johnso. He is way more amazing than Bon. no offense Bon, but when brian came in, AC/DC became rock stars. Back in Black is on the top 5 best selling cds in america and world-wide. They released three singles on this record. Hells Bells, Back in Black and You shook me all night long. My personal favorite is Shoot To Thrill and Given The Dog A Bone. Most critics critisize it for being but a sex album. Which is true, like You shook me all night long, What do you do For money honey, Let Me Put My Love Into You. This is the album that made me listen to more older music. When I played this and the first track Hells Bells, the sound was so freakin amazing

[+] 8.0 Contains Two All-Time Rock Classics
The title track and "You Shook Me All Night Long" alone justify the price. Even non-fans gotta play air guitar to the first 30 seconds of Back in Black, and the lyrics on "You Shook Me All Night Long" are classic... "Workin' double time on the seduction line, she was one of a kind, she's just mine all mine.... had to cool me down to take another round, now I'm back in the ring to take another swing..." For what many consider to be "hard core" they actually make good, good music that's easy to listen to.

Legendary CD........still sounds great and the new remaster is louder and clearer. Some of the most well known songs in Rock and Roll call this CD home. I must admit my guilt, as I found the new Fozzy 'All That Remains Reloaded' CD/DVD set more fun and much harder to take out of my CD player......check it out if you haven't already....has that wrestler guy Chris Jericho from the WWE on vocals....killer, killer songs.

[+] 4.0 Yes, it's AC/DC but....
I grew up occasionally listening to AC/DC, always in the background from friends playing it at school or in a car. It never stood out to me. Now at 41 I rediscovered this old band and like it a lot. I especially like listening to it while weight lifting. "Back in Black" and "Dirty Deeds" are both raw and raunchy (like the classic Mississippi Delta Blues these guys probably grew up listening to), but after listening to both several times I find that song for song, "Dirty Deeds" is better than "Back in Black". Both have AC/DC's signature sound and are milestones of the hard rock genre, but I just don't get tired of listening to "Dirty Deeds" which I can't say about "Back in Black". In rediscovering this band, I was a little surprised to later find out that next to Michael Jackson's "Thriller", "Back in Black" is the #2 selling album of all time. Okay, but I personally don't hear it in the album. But this is just the perspective of a straight white male with no tattoos whose favorite album of all time is Dire Strait's "Brothers in Arms"....

[+] 10.0 Have a Drink On Me!
I once saw a review that called this album "pretentious." Not sure how you might come to that conclusion, as this is some hard rockin', a$$ kickin', riff driven, groovy rock n' roll. It's about as unpretentious as you can get. There's not a weak track on here, and thank God AC/DC didn't call it quits with the death of vocalist Bon Scott, as this album is, along with Appetite for Destruction, one of two must have albums from the 1980s. A few years past its silver anniversary, this album still sounds fresh and wonderful, and if you can't have a great time listening to this...well, I pity you.

[+] 10.0 Greatest rock album ever
Back In Black is the greatest rock album of all time.. And it's the biggest selling rock album of all time with around 44 million or so in sales!! This is what you call a "killer with no filler" album because there are no bad songs on BIB!! Still after almost 27 years when it was released, it STILL sounds fresh and great. The same can't be said for most albums that came out at the same time!! New generations keep picking up on this album and that's one of the reasons it keeps selling and always will....If you like rock and roll you should already have this gem!! If not, then pick it up and start rocking!!! Long Live AC/DC!!!

[+] 4.0 Johnson or Bon: Who is the Best?
AC/DC are one of the greatest Bands that have ever been. No Question. I consider two of their Albums as absolute classics but Black In Black is not one of them. This re-birth of AC/DC was not the same. The Genius of their music had died in the back seat of a car.

What is missing from Brian Johnson's song writing and vocal prowess is the intelligence, wit, insightfulness, humour and clarity that Bon Scott so effortlessly brought to his songs.

When Bon sang I could understand every word, every nuance and he had a story to tell. With Johnson on the other hand, I find that I can't understand a single word. All I hear is Honky Tonk this or Honky Tonk that.

That said Black In Black is the best of the Johnson Albums. It has two classic rock tracks; the title number and `You Shook Me...' yet still these pale in comparison to anything penned on `Highway...' or `Dirty Deeds...'

I have tried so hard to love AC/DC with Johnson at the microphone but as time has gone on, I always return to the original version of the band and their far superior recordings. When Bon sings I instantly understand why AC/DC rocks me so deeply and I still miss his musical Genius.

This has a lot of good AC/DC songs on it. "Back in Black" was used in a local commercial where a man is getting ready for work and is lip-syncing the song as he is shaving. "You Shook me all night Long" is a great song to play at a dance or sing at karaoke. The whole album is a classic and is a must for any AC/DC fans.

Why do people like Brian Johnson so much? His voice is awful, mustardy, lousy, absurd, stupid, pathetic, lame, horrible and he only screams, dosent sing at all and this is one of the worst hard rock albums ever. they mainly should have quit right after Scott died because he was a bad replacement for Bon Scott too. Dont buy this CD as you'll panic about it later.

[+] 10.0 An All Time Top 10 Rock n Roll Album!
If you're looking for a handful of tunes that are filled with heart-felt insightful lyrics meant to change the world, you're in the wrong place. If you instead want an in-your-face rocker that'll kick start pretty much any party, this is the one you want to plop into the CD player. Back in Black deserves to be on every rock n roller's short list of best ever albums! Yea...the lyrics are filled with innuendo and sexual overtones, but as far as 'thumpin' classics sure to get even the dullest member in the crowd rockin', this baby warrants very serious consideration. If you like 70's rock n roll...this one's a must have!

[+] 10.0 4.5 Stars- Brutally good rock 'n' roll
After lead singer Bon Scott died a truly heroic death (in the backseat of a car, with enough alcohol in him to run a medium-sized brewery for five years), the other members of AC/DC replaced him with Brian Johnson and went on to produce this album. Back In Black, aside from being Johnson's triumphant debut, featured hits like "Hell's Bells," "You Shook Me All Night Long," and the title track. It went on to become one of the bestselling albums in history, and is usually considered to be AC/DC's best album. Now, I don't think that this album tops the booze-soaked masterpiece that is Highway To Hell (and I also don't think that Johnson was better than Bon Scott. He was great, but Bon was untouchable), but I can't deny that this thing rocks like a mother.

I mean, forget the hits- this thing's got "Rock And Roll Ain't Noise Pollution," a hulking beast of an anthem with a ridiculously good guitar riff and a vocal performance that's as sleazy as it is pissed off. "Shoot To Thrill" is a rollicking pounder with some totally decadent lyrics, and "What Do You Do For The Money Honey" is a furious rock `n' roll classic. "Have A Drink On Me" is a viciously awesome tribute to Scott, and "Shake A Leg" has this totally wicked riff. And then there are the hits: "Hell's Bells" is menacing and evil and the guitar line deserves to be bronzed. The title track is a furious classic, and "You Shook Me All Night Long" is downright catchy.

The album does have a few tiny weak spots ("Let Me Put My Love Into You" and "Givin' The Dog A Bone" are a bit too close to cardboard cutout hard-rock for my tastes), but why complain? This thing is a total beast.

When you look up rock n roll in the dictionary it should say nothing more than AC/DC. Who knew that after the untimely death of origional frontman Bon Scott the band would celebrate their finest work to date!!! Very few bands have replaced a legenary lead singer and lived on to success but only AC/DC have done so and surpassed themselves. Brian Johnson takes over on lead vocals and takes to band to unsurmountable rock n roll status. Back in Black is filled with inuendo and sexual energy that would make even Steven Tyler proud. [+] 10.0 Best Rock And Roll Ever
AC/DC mastered the fine art of direct, straightforward balls-to-the-wall rock and roll right from the start, and they have never let up since. This album represents an important turning point in their career - a change of singers from Bonn Scott, who was probably one of the best rock vocalists ever, to Brian Johnson - definitely without a doubt the best rock vocalist ever. This completed their sound in a way no one had ever dreamed possible, catapulting them to superhuman status. The remastered CD is very clear and direct, and even cleaner, more in-your-face sounding than the original release. A perfect preservation of a classic. Other artists who come close to their mastery of simplicity and powerful rock are ZZ Top Eliminator, Nason Resonance and Nazareth Hair of the Dog.

[+] 10.0 Rock on, people. Rock on
I'm gonna keep this simple, because this is simple music. Not "simple" as in "stupid", but "simple" as in "stripped-down, basics and nothing more". Lead guitar, rhythm guitar, bass, drums and vocals. If you just wanna rock, what more do you need? I appreciate a lot of music, including some that most would deem "serious" (jazz; progressive rock; some classical), and I still would rank this as one of the twenty or so best albums ever made. Basically, this is the definitive AC/DC album (not to mention the best), so if you don't like this, you probably don't like the band much, either.
Now AC/DC made several fine albums: High Voltage, Dirty Deeds, Let There Be Rock, Powerage, Highway to Hell. This bests 'em all. Not a filler in sight. Not a wasted note. Quite to the contrary, in fact. You've got my favorite hard rock song ever made, You Shook Me All Night Long. You've got other radio favorites: the stomping title track, with an army of riffs; the menacing Hells Bells, much scarier than any stupid Slayer death-metal; you've got Shoot to Thrill, which is actually pretty intelligent composition-wise; and more basic rockers like What Do You Do For Money Honey and Rock and Roll Ain't Noise Pollution, with a well-placed buildup. One song I feel was unfairly lost in the shuffle is Have a Drink on Me, a very funny song that kicks butt like all the rest. And even the relatively weak tracks would've led the pack on any other album. Either they're brimming with enthusiasm (Shake a Leg; Given the Dog a Bone), or they're augmented with uberriffs (Let Me Put My Love into You). So this is great. If you don't have this, I've gotta request you put it on your shopping list. This ties with Who's Next as the best hard rock album ever made.

[+] 10.0 5 stars for the music, - 5 stars for the screwed up track order
Back in 1980, all the kids at my high school were anticipating the release of the new AC/DC album with Bon Scott's replacement. "It's gonna suck without Bon!" was the general consensus. Of course, everyone was blown away as soon as the album hit the turntable, with the 4 ticks of Track 1 Side 1 leading up to the revelation that, yes, indeed, AC/DC was back, in black, and they weren't going away. The way the tracks are recorded on both this version of the CD and the earlier one totally screws up the impact that this seminal album was intended to make.

[+] 8.0 No, indeed, Rock and Roll AIN'T Noise Pollution
I never really dug ACDC - the vocals were literally torture, and I really couldn't handle the existentialist-theological ramifications of..."stuff" like the hideously-blasphemous "Highway To Hell." So I wasn't really prepared in 1980 when my ex and her then husband put "Back In Black" in their car's cassette-player thing. Blah-blah-blah-"Oh, they have a new vocalist," "You oughta see Angus," blah-blah-blah...I was all set to militantly ignore "Black," when I made the..."chance remark" that "Rock And Roll Ain't Noise Pollution" wasn't a bad title at ALL for a song. Beloved Ex played it for me, and later that evening, when the husband-du-jour had imbibed too much and had written himself out of the "scenerio," She and I played "Noise Pollution" until we knew it note-for-note. STILL don't have much use for the band, but that one song is...ALMOST "redemption" for that "Highway" thing - and it's damn fun to play & perform. I was greatly disappointed, though, when whoever-edited-the-thing didn't include the band's performance of it at that "Rolling Stones In Toronto" thing. Oh yeah, 8/15, I did forget to mention that one of their earlier "songs," "Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap" is wonderful, too. Actually helped me get thru a divorce one time, but let's not quibble...

[+] 10.0 This album defines great Rock 'N' Roll music.
In my opinion this album is the greatest Rock 'N' Roll album ever. I strongly recommend you to buy this if your a rock fan, it is a must have. On another note I read some of the 1 star reviews and I urge you to disregard what they have to say for a few reasons. One reason is they put some false facts in their reviews (not all but a few) which clearly shows their lack of knowledge concerning this great rock band. Also I saw some of their other reviews for other cds. They gave 4-5 stars for bands like greenday and I think Beyonce (some crap like that)though their were a few who gave great bands like Metallica 4-5 stars. One more thing is that AC/DC makes great rock music, think about it. Its powerful yet simple and usually about the definitive rock 'N' Roll topics which are women/sex, alcohol, and good times. The songs of Back In Black are great rock songs which many people love, from credible rock/metal musicians to the average person.

[+] 10.0 Dollars and (common) cents.
I'm going to rate this CD based on a $1 per song cost to total cost for the entire CD (Apple and Rhapsody charge $1 per song). Unfortunately, iTunes doesn't carry any AC/DC songs at the moment.
This CD is perfectly priced. 10 great songs for $10. If you don't already own the CD, the popular songs you'll know are Hells Bells, Back In Black and You Shook Me All Night Long. If you like them, then the rest of the songs on this CD won't take long to grow on you. Especially, Let Me Put My Love Into You. I promise that this CD will not disappoint.
This is one of my three favorite Hard Rock/Heavy Metal albums from the early 1980's. The other two are Judas Priest's "Screaming For Vengeance" and Def Leppard's "Pyromania".
Hope this helps.

[+] 10.0 Simply put, THIS is rock and roll!
I can't really think of anything too specific to say about "Back in Black". One day, I bought the album, listened to it and had one of the biggest musical joyrides I can recall! Critics may despise AC/DC, but that's no reason to neglect this album! In fact, this qualifies not only as being one of the biggest-selling rock albums of all time, but one of the greatest. That being said, "Back in Black" is probably the first album people will think about whenever AC/DC is mentioned, and while they have a great selection in their catalogue, this is, no doubt, their finest hour.
From the guitar crunch of the Young brothers, from Malcolm's rock-solid rhythm playing to Angus's legendary riffs, licks and solos, this no doubt qualifies as a great guitar album. Then comes in the rhythm section of Cliff Williams on bass and Phil Rudd on drums, and while Phil Rudd may not have the same chops as John Bonham, Phil still makes his drums sound larger than life, which makes for a great cornerstone of the AC/DC groove. And then...Brian Johnson. Who would have thought after such a great lead singer as Bon Scott passed away, Brian Johnson would be able to fill in his role, and fill it in greatly, as well. His voice may take some getting used to, but he definitely sounds best on this album.
In addition, the remastering is excellent. The volume is up and there's no static or unneccesary noise that ruins the sound. After all, there's nothing as disappointing as hearing a great song like it was recorded a mile away! Anyway, this album is just flat-out excellent for those who dig such a sound. Ten songs at a little over forty minutes, and a cross between a hard-rock crunch and an old-school groove for each song, AC/DC did just about everything they could right on this album.
As a summary, this album will make you forget your problems, imagine these guys on stage at night in a big, sold-out arena, playing these rockers loudly and proudly, and, of course, prove to be a testament of time and rock and roll. And remember, take no pressure from the critics. Be your own person! Rock out and feel good about it! And remember, "rock and roll ain't noise pollution...it just makes good, good sense!" Peace!

[+] 10.0 One of the best CDs ever...REMASTERED
I owned an original copy of Back in Black and played it constantly. It's an ideal CD for road trips and just incredible rock from beginning to end. I didn't think anything could possibly improve it until I heard the remastered version. Suddenly the bass comes out more, the drums are even more in your face, the vocals are clearer, it just ROCKS even more. There are plenty of bad remasters out there of various classic albums, but thankfully, this is not one of them.

[+] 10.0 The rebirth of AC/DC
Hands down the best AC/DC CD. This is the cream of the crop, and it doesn't get any better than this. To this day, each song rocks loud and hard, and vocalist Brian Johnson was never better. A must for any hard rock collection, your ears will be bleeding.

[+] 10.0 It does'nt get much Better than this!!
Of course, In my humble opinion, this album is in my Top Ten of all-time. It rocks, it's bluesy, crushing, sneering and has that "I'm badder than you attitude." And it's just a lot of FUN. Really, what more could you want in a Rock album? Get your hands on this bad boy!!!
