Fast deliver, Item works with PC
Quick delivery, easy to install, works on PC with Win XP and Vista. However, it's not compatible with Wii. Should have done more research beforehand. My own mistake. Aside from that, the item is packaged nicely, delivered on time, and works as advertised. Will buy from this seller again.

Unstable and Unstable...
I use ubuntu linux system, and it works ok when I plugged it in, and that's it.
It does not work after couple of seconds, every connection stalled and does not work.
I hope I'm the last person to waste a money on this product.

Complete personal product review
This is a cheap way to connect an Ethernet cable into a USB port.
1) This item is made in China and the package looks like something you find in a 99 cent store, so there is no costumer service.
2) The driver disc that comes with this adapter and is needed to be installed before your computer recognizes the device is a MINI-DISC, not the standard size compact disc so be prepared for that.
3) This adapter DOES work just fine for me on my Sony Vaio Laptop that has no Ethernet connection ports, only two USB ports so I received exactly what I wanted and paid about $3.50 + S&H for.
Caution: My only set back with this adapter is that it gets extremely hot. Not hot enough to burn you on contact but it is uncomfortably hot and I would not leave it plugged in longer than I needed to.
I read the other reviews and I thought it would be a good temporary fix but to my avail it wasn't. Don't buy this product. There is no tech support if it doesn't work. In my opinion ,don't buy
This product is a waste of money it doesn't even work the LCD doesn't lite up. My system doesn't acknowledge it's existence because it's a dead end. Good thing it's only 3 dollars or I would be very aggravated.

10 seconds to eth1
Just plugged it in and *BAM* new network interface (using Ubuntu 9.10--Karmic), no hassle, does what its supposed to, cheap too. I'm ordering several more.
Netbooks do not seem to have cat5 port, so for when you travel and they only offer a cable in the room, this saves the day!

Excellent for the price
My Ethernet port suddenly got a hardware problem. Being a Sony Viao desktop with all proprietary non upgradable stuff in there, I was in a soup and then I saw this product on Amazon. I ordered, I got it in 2 days, and I installed in 2 minutes. It's up and running just fine. Excellent speed for browsing too. Overall it is a 4-star item.

dont waste ur money
thats the problem with these chinese sellers. they live over seas and sell stuff with horrible customerservice and support. i didnt even get a mini cd which wouldve been awesome. i cut a lil piece of paper saying go to this site for driver....only problem is ITS IN CHINESE. i guess i forgot to tell these ppl i dont read chinese. so also bought mine for wii and now wiht no drivers, its basically useless. this seller should be banned from the amazon community for peddling garbage and required to take a customer service seminar
i found it under my wii lan adapter search and finding it under the search i thought it would work but it does now now i have a usless thing that i can not use it sucks

decent product, not for a Wii
I originally bought this adapter to connect my Wii to the internet, but it did not work. However, it did work fine with my vista laptop, so I recommend if you are looking for an adapter for your computer, this will work fine. It's a little tricky to install the drivers, and the connection is slower than normal, but otherwise it gets the job done.

I would give it a better score but...
Well I am sure this product would work find if I could get the driver to work....it comes in one of those mini cds and I have a Dell XPS M1330. The CD drive for the computer is similar to the mac book where the thing doesnt pop out, you just slide the disc in through a slot. But it is a mini cd so it doesnt work with my computer. Just thought I would let you know

USB 2.0 it is NOT
You get what you pay for. I bought this device and used it. No problems except speed - it is definitely NOT USB 2.0. Its speed is very slow. I used it to copy a 100Mb file, and it took several minutes to finish. Copying the same size file with my new D-Link Ethernet/USB device finished in 15 seconds.

The most useful thing I've ever ordered.
I puchased 5 of these for $2 each. Every one of them works great. I work with loose motherboards and many different computers all the time, and this is by far the best $10 + shipping i've ever spent on anything.
Don't listen to the people who simply don't know enough about computers to get them working. These are fantastic. Not the greatest throughput, but that's not what these are designed for. If you want a top-notch ethernet adapter for 24/7 use in a computer, GET A PCI CARD!!!
These USB adapters are a great way to get instant connectivity. Awesome for troubleshooting. For a technician like me, it's one of the most useful things in my arsenal. It also works great in recent Linux kernels without any special configuration. The speed is still very acceptable even though a normal PCI card will blow it away.
The (sorry, but really) ignorant person who gave this 1 star with the "FAKE CD" review has apparently just never heard of a mini-cd. You can use it in any standard CD/DVD-ROM drive as long is it isn't a slot loader. That's no reason to give the product a 1 star rating.

supported on Linux
dm9601 chipset. Supported on Linux, but only very recent versions (2.6.21 or later).
Unfortunately not supported by the version of Linux included in latest Debian GNU/Linux release.
The adage, "you get what you pay for" holds true with this product. Although some of the other reviewers had trouble installing drivers, etc. I actually got through all that, but it didn't support the MTU I needed. I bought this so I could play xbox live in my dorm since the university changed the school network over xmas. Bottom line if you're buying this to use for console gaming go with logitech.

NOT AT ALL WORTH IT!!
The drivers never worked and the computer I was useing it on was not old the computer was running Windows Xp. It was like installing an old printer that did not work. And if you have any problem to bad there is no company to call, no web site nothing. I was just trying to stay out of having to mess around with the inside of my computer. but in the end that was exactly what I had to do save your self the problem. Don't buy this. Do what in the end I had to do get the d-link ethernet adater. It will save time and money. GO D-LINK!!
~
I dont even know if it works becuase the CD they sent me with the driver installation isnt even a real CD. Its like half the size. So now I have to buy an CD adapter for my USB adapter. Piontless. Spend a lilttle more and get a real one.

Doesn't work, its a lemon
I bought this hoping to get an easy & cheap ($3+shipping) fix for a broken ethernet port. At first it appeared to work, it installed and even connected but I could not connect to the internet or other computers on the network. I had to move it between 2 computers and 2 networks to figure out that though it installed and "connected", it wasn't really working. Whats worse, it was cheap to buy, so I'm not sure if its worth the return shipping charge to get my 3 bucks back.
Spend a little more now buying a more expensive branded UBS-ethernet adapter like I had to (I bought something similar from Trendnet) and save yourself some heartburn.

only works if it stays plugged into port
If your usb slot/port is vertical, you may have trouble with this. Because of the adapters bulkiness, combined with the weight of the cable you plug into it, the adapter keeps loosening from the usb port.

Extremely easy way to add Ethernet to your computer
The ethernet that came with my home computer recently died. I ordered this one from work (during my lunch hour, of course). Initially, I was apprehensive with the packaging and "Made in China" written in the back. But after I finished installing it, I couldn't believe how easy it was. It literally took me five minutes to get it installed. I took it out of the box, plugged it into my USB port. Windows goes through its detection phase. I select "CD-ROM", put the CD driver in the CD tray, and clicked Next. Windows found the driver a few seconds later. I just moved the ethernet cable from the dead ethernet jack to this new one and I was surfing the web again. In fact, I'm writing this review using my new USB to Ethernet adapter! :)
The only difference was that the shell was green instead of blue, but green's my favorite color so I actually preferred the color change.
