[+] 2.0 Didn't need
If the description of the Kindle had been more explicit, I would not have wasted the money on a second power adapter.

[+] 8.0 A Good Buy
If you have a Kindle you definitely need this. It is a good buy for the money.

[+] 2.0 Why isn't this device compatable with more generic chargers
I find that companies that make proprietary chargers are creating waste at the expense of their secondary profit source. I have tried a small tip charger, as well as a generic usb connection in order to charge the device before investing in yet another charging device.

It looks like the iGo is compatable as well as a knock off company sold on Amazon, but shame on Amazon for not building this feature into this $400 device.

Onto having to spend money on yet another similar charger in order to read my books and keep adding to the pile of cords in my office.

[+] 10.0 Satisfaction
There really isn't too much to review for a charging cord, but I was very satisfied with the speed in which my order was delivered. Thank you.

[+] 10.0 Pleased
The power supply that I ordered was the manufactures exact replacement for my Kindle and it arrived at my door on the day promised.

[+] 10.0 It Does Everything!
When Amazon asked me to rate the Amazon Kindle Replacement Power Adapter how could I refuse? I mean, it is a marvel of design and engineering. So simple and elegant yet so functional -- if only it could talk back to me and tell me just how great it is.

When the box arrived with my Amazon Kindle Replacement Power Adapter my hands shook with nervous anticipation -- would it be everything I wanted and more? Could it live up to all the pre-release hype -- would it deliver and appease all the buzz on the chat boards and with the ever critical bloggerheads. I am here to say my friends it did live up the hype and more.

I would say I have not truly lived until this little power packed device came into my life. Thank you Amazon Kindle Replacement Power Adapter for giving me joy and a reason to believe in the good of humanity again. Thank you!

[+] 8.0 works great
i use this product for travel. It does exactly what it is supposed to do. It charges my Kindle. No problems. I would like it even better if it had international converter capacity built into it.

[+] 8.0 Great product
At first i was hesitant in buying this product because am not sure whether the power adapter and charger is one and the same for my kindle. Until finally i took the in ordering it and voila it's the same. I've been using it since the day it arrived.

[+] 10.0 Two are better than one
I use my Kindle several hours a day, every day. I got tired of being at work and realizing that I had let the battery run down. My bad. Now I keep one adapter in my backpack and the other in my kitchen. I never worry about running out of juice in the middle of a great book no matter what time of day or where I am. And for the price, this is one very worth-it investment.

[+] 4.0 As original but it should have a better method of winding itself up for storage than just a twist
It is like original (a poorly designed) supplied cable.

This power adapter and the USB cord BOTH need a much better method to wind themselves up for storage. Amazon did not do us travelers any favors, by not have these two cords be better traveling companions. It would be very slick if they got redesigned to wind up for storage and had the ends overlap each other to make a very tidy and compact flat unit. If nothing else, the power adapter should have folding plug tips so that the metal plug does not scratch anything - for a good example of a quality power adapter design, check out the Apple unit (see link) Apple MA938LL/A 85-Watt Portable Power Adapter for MacBook Pro supplied with the MacBook Pro and note how the prongs can be removed and the cord stored around it...

Since this cord has generic ends, I suggest that you look elsewhere for a self winding charging system/cable; especially if this will be a "spare".

Thanks

[+] 10.0 It works
I needed an extra charger for my Kindle, and so purchased this one, which is a twin to the one that came with the Kindle in the first place. What can I say? It works, and it's convenient to be able to recharge the Kindle's batteries at the office as well as at home.

[+] 10.0 Amazon Replacement Power Adapter
I had the first power adapter that came with my Kindle but I wanted a seond one because I wanted my first one to be left at home permanently plugged into the wall outlet. I never had any problems with the adapter; it worked very well. I just wanted the 2nd one to travel with as I am often absent from my home. Both have worked very well.

[+] 10.0 Get an extra one... it is worth it!
At first I thought it was stupid to buy a second adaptor exactly like the first... but because I was taking my Kindle to work so I could read during lunch and on breaks (after forgetting to plug in my Kindle when going to sleep), I bought one to keep at work.

I love having an extra now! Took one on vacation... got home late and didn't have to dig through my suitcase to find that backup Kindle charger so I could read myself to sleep. Instead, just plugged the Kindle in to the charger I had left by my bed.

Now if Amazon would only come up with a car charger, I'd be set!

[+] 8.0 Word of Warning
This product works fine. Unlike some rechargers I have dealt with, the connection is solid and doesn't become loose with time. My only warning is that be careful that you do not accidentally step on the cord (which is a pretty good length) when you pick up the Kindle. Twice, I have done this and pulled the little wire out of the connection, forcing me to buy two replacements (so far).

[+] 8.0 Needs a Connector for Charging Spare Batteries
Although my beloved Kindle holds its charge well, sometimes I discover that I've allowed its battery to lapse when I'm somewhere other than at home.

I now own a spare battery. Problems of the sort I just described are history. But .. to charge the spare it's necessary to remove the Kindle's battery (it has little wires and a miniature connector) and replace it with the uncharged spare. This isn't something one would want to do any more frequently than necessary. If you folks at Kindle read these comments, please consider, on your next rev power adapter, a special connector for charging spare batteries. And while you're at it, how about adding a little pocket on your next rev Kindle cover to hold that battery spare.

The power adapter deserves 5 stars, but I'll withhold that 5th star until the day arrives when I can charge my spare battery without having to remove the back of my Kindle.

[+] 8.0 Kindle Original AC Adapter
Myself you can't go wrong with ordering the original adapter for the Kindle. Yes, there are others out on the market, but for a home AC adapter, this is what I think is best. It's the one that Amazon makes, has a long cord and you know you're getting the right product. Yes, they were on backorder but now they're in. I ordered an two extra to keep on hand for those "just in case" scenes.

[+] 8.0 Nice charger, but there are alternatives
I like my Kindle AC charger - it's elegant and compact. Unfortunately at the time I needed a spare charger, it was on indeterminate multi-week backorder.

At that time, I went with the iGo Universal Wall (AC) and Auto (DC) Charger with iGo's Kindle Power Tip. That is working well.

The (cheaper) iGo Universal Wall (AC) Charger will also work with the same Kindle Power Tip.

Both of these are larger and less elegant than Amazon's Kindle charger. Now that the Amazon charger is available for immediate ship, these alternatives probably make less sense for normal use. However if you have multiple devices and only want to carry a single charger, the iGo chargers could still be useful.

[+] 2.0 WARNING - UNAVAILABLE
Don't expect to get a new power supply from Amazon. You won't even get a rational response from customer service in response to inquiries/complaints about the lack of availability of necessary peripherals for a $400 device.

[+] 6.0 Kindle Power Adapter
Pros -
Charges the Kindle quickly (although this is more a property of the Kindle itself)
It's white - this helps to differentiate it from the brazillions of other charging devices cluttering my life.

Cons -
Metal pin is fragile - don't put too much force on the connection pin to the Kindle. It's easy to snap off and not as easy to repair. Hence - me writing this review of a replacement charger in the first place...

Summary -
It's a no frills charger, and it does ithe job well.

[+] 10.0 Well made, low profile
The Kindle Power Adapter works just as it should, charges the unit without a problem. I appreciate the way they positioned the prongs on the unit, so it works sideways giving it a low profile and allowing me to plug in to an extension cord or a regular outlet that may already have a few 'fat' adapter on it. This is a space-saver , especially if one has many gadgets.

[+] 4.0 out of stock??
I left my charger on the other coast on vacation. For some reason Amazon did not see fit to have the Kindle able to recharge from USB although this is very easy to do. So I order one here only to find they are out of stock and my much loved unit is likely to be on empty before I get it.

What is the deal? Kindle is hyped to high heaven but Amazon hasn't bothered to set up to meet demand. My unit took nearly six weeks to arrive. Nor have they set up to meet accessory demand. Does Amazon want to be in this business or not? If they do then it is time to bring everything up to speed related to the unit.

Frankly I find it addictive and I order even more books than normal now, which is a lot. I think Amazon could profitably give a free Kindle to moderate to heavy ordering customers and do quite well.

[+] 10.0 Amazon Kindle
I received the Amazon Kindle for Christmas. I absolutely love it! I've already read 4 books on it - I've found myself having a need for a spending limit each month so I don't go broke buying books for my Kindle. Two suggestions: make the "next page" button on the right side of the Kindle smaller because it is touchy and moves you to the next page and the next and the next if you just slightly touch it. Second, a night light would be incredibly helpful. My husband doesn't mind me reading the Kindle in bed because he doesn't constantly hear the pages turning, but I can't see it without the light on! Fantastic product for avid readers!

[+] 10.0 I Love This Unit
Nice and compact unit. I love the small size and white color. I hate those other big, black power supplies many other devices use. Amazon, like Apple, did it right. Nice job Amazon !!!

I bought this so I have one for my office to keep my Kindle always charged and ready to go.

Juice it up baby !
