[+] 2.0 Dissapointed
Bought it on the B/F deal. Received it today Monday. Surprisingly fast delivery from Amazon/USPS. Unboxing/10 minutes of use review:

Pros: Fits my 17" HP okay. The bottom of my laptop is not flat, so the cooler is not lined up "square". Seems to be working fine so far.

CONS: It's A LOT louder than I had imagined. The speed switch is also a volume control - loud and "11". I may get the db meter out and update this post later.

[+] 6.0 A couple more cons
The USB cable does not remain flush in the port. I have a Macbook and I find myself having to keep something on the cable to keep the cable positioned in such a way that the unit remains on. The second con is the the little rubber nubs that keep your laptop at a distance so that it can be cooled come out very easily and can be lost. I now have to contact the manufacturer about extra parts. This would be a fine product if manufacturer could improve on the minor flaws it has.

[+] 10.0 Great Choice
First Time I have a laptop pc, and this product fits very well, works in silence and have two speeds, it's not heavy and fits in the bag for my computer, also works for long period of time, you just plug into usb port and start working, I recomend this product even for the price.

[+] 10.0 It works in cooling a hot laptop!
I had some doubts about the effectiveness of a cooler at first, but needed something to cool my Toshiba laptop that kept shutting down because of overheating. This cooler really works! The Toshiba no long shuts down by itself & have not overheated since I started using this cooler. The size is good enough support & stablize the large laptop on my desk. Highly recommended.

[+] 10.0 Recommended for any XBOX 360
My Xbox 360 seemed liked it was starting to overheat. Microsoft wanted to charge me $99 to repair it. After looking at intercoolers (and finding that the design was flawed and actually WORSE for my Xbox), I started looking at laptop coolers. I purchased the Antec, received it quickly, and have had it in use for about a week. I recommend this product to everyone with an Xbox. My console has stopped having all overheating problems (unreadable disc, slow load times, etc.) It fits perfectly underneath. The concave curve of the pad even fits the curve of the Xbox and it looks like it is part of it. It keeps the Xbox very cool and is easy to set up. One problem is that on the USB power cord, there is another cord that comes out of the side. As a result you end up losing a USB slot. But, it allows you to piggyback another USB onto it, so you end up with one usable USB slot on the front of your Xbox. As several other reviewers have stated, the power light on the side it very bright. Also, if you use this for your Xbox it will not turn off automatically when you turn off your console, but it is quiet if you leave it on. Overall, this is the best accessory I have bought for my Xbox and as a result, my overworked Xbox will probably last significantly longer.

[+] 6.0 It works but didn't last all that long
I bought this for my Dell Inspiron 1100. It did seem to keep my computer cool and running normal even though my computer does have its own fan coming out the back.
My complaint with this product was that it didn't last all that long, seven months, before this product wouldn't turn on. It probably was from shoving it in and out of the laptop case and technically my fault. However, I would like to see products I buy last a bit longer.

[+] 10.0 Cools down my PS3
I got one of these for my overheating PlayStation 3 that is in an enclosed bookcase with a glass door. It plugs into the PS3 USB port and the PS3 sits right on it. Its quiet and the PS3 doesn't overheat anymore.

I am very satisfied with this product. It is very quiet (I've been using the "Low" setting) and doesn't take up a lot of room. In fact, I don't notice it at all. My computer has remained cool and has worked very well since I have been using this product. I can't say I have any complaints.

[+] 10.0 This is a super cooler, i like it
This cooler is of good build quality and also keeps the laptop really cool. I have a Dell 15" laptop which used to become really hot and unstable.
Now its keeping the laptop cool. I also like the shape of it. I am giving a 5 star for this product because it satisfies everything what I bought it for.

[+] 8.0 Wonderful item - Good laptop "insurance" !
I'm extremely happy with the Antec Laptop cooler!
I've had it a few weeks & as someone who does use my laptop on the bed every so often, this is good insurance that I won't be prematurely frying my motherboard. It's very quiet, and I can tell that my internal fans are coming on less, thanks to this unit.

[+] 10.0 Don't listen to knuckle-heads
It's a shame that some reviews are even printed. This cooler does work extremely well and makes my 17 inch Dell 1720 run MUCH cooler in spite of it having a cooling fan of it's own AND sucking air from the bottom. The 2 reviewers are so off the mark about a vacuum being formed and making your laptop run hotter. I wonder how they even are able to operate a laptop if they really believe what they write. Also, someone also noted that you would need an extended length USB cord if you didn't have a port on the left side of your laptop. WRONG! All you have to do is rotate the cooler 180 degrees. Makes no difference. If I had listened to any of these reviewers, I would not have purchased this fantastic product. All I have to do is feel the laptop temp when I shut down to see how much cooler it is. You can also feel how much cooler the air discharged from the laptop's fan is.

[+] 10.0 Great product; I own 3 of them!
I purchased the first one on sort of a fluke; loved it, and left it at a vacation home since it's hot there.

Purchased two more; one as a 'traveler' with my laptop, and one for home.

They work well; the power input location could be better but would present a considerable engineering and manufacturing challenge to move it.

Overall, I highly recommend the product.

[+] 10.0 No More Hot Stuff
I'm not a techie, I just like my new HP Pavilion notebook. But it gets hot. Real hot. FYI, my battery is not one that was recalled. I saw this in the Gold Box offer, read a lot of the reviews - whew! - and ordered. This is so easy to use right out of the box, lightweight, slim, with 2-speeds (both VERY quiet), large rubbery feet on the bottom, and 4 rubber stud-like feet on the top that keep things from sliding around. The plug-in cord is short (Good. I don't need any more stuff hanging out) so I just turned the cooler around instead of getting an extension. Problem solved. Fans blow toward me - no big deal. Best of all - totally cool notebook. I am thrilled. Surprised and thrilled. I'd give this 10 stars.

[+] 10.0 An Amazing Device!
I am utterly amazed at the effectiveness of this product. My notebook, after processing hours of video, used to be quite warm, almost hot. The Antec Notebook Cooler reduced the heat buildup of my notebook with similar usage by 75 percent! The contemporary styling and low noise output make this a great product as well. This is, by far, the best notebook accessory investment I have made.

[+] 8.0 Antec Cooler-Does the work!
This is a great product. It definetly cools my laptop fast and keeps it cool. The design is also pretty neat. The only thing I hated was that it took over a month to get to my house!!!! But the product itself does a great job. I had the Targus one and one of the fans stopped working after awhile.

[+] 8.0 Notebook running cooler/better
So far so good. I've only had this item for a short while, and appreciate the warranty. I had another notebook cooler which wore out within a short time. The Antec seems to be doing the job and making my Dell 1100 Inspiron (noted for running very hot) run better. My only complaint would be that in order to turn it OFF, I have to unplug it from the laptop, thus trying to find the plug-in location each time. I run my computer on hibernation often, and as long as it's not turned OFF, the cooler runs ... which is why I'm afraid my last one (not Antec) wore out so quickly. It does have 2 speeds and the lower speed seems to work fine, and isn't too noisy.

[+] 6.0 Great Product!!! But bad design
I love this product but i jus realized that it actually pulls air from your computer. This works great with laptops with a fan that pushes air out, but not so well with laptops with fans that works like vacuum.

[+] 8.0 Does what it's supposed to, but I have some design ideas
My husband and I both use these with our laptops. This notebook cooler does a great job of keeping our HP Pavilion notebooks running very cool while conveniently not requiring a wall outlet for power. It's powered through the piggyback USB cable included, so you won't lose any usb jacks on your laptop. This cooler seems most ideal for a 15" laptop, although I use it for my 17" laptop without any problems at all. What I'd like to see however is for Antec to make a custom stand for this that will lift the notebook up to monitor height if you are using your notebook with an external keyboard and mouse. I like this design: Xbrand XB-1001 360 Height Adjustable Laptop Stand, but I find that all of the stands I like don't have built in notebook coolers, and I don't feel comfortable with the stability of putting a notebook cooler and then a notebook on the stand.

[+] 8.0 MacBook Pro Users - Be Aware
MBP users should know that while this product is a perfect size for the 15" model and it definitely keeps your laptop cooler, there is an issue. The design of the USB connection has the cord attached at the back. In order to make sure that it doesn't block your power connection, you must bend the USB cord waaay down. There is still danger of your power connection not being completely in contact as it should be. Also, with the short length of the coolpad's USB power connector, there isn't an option to plug it in on the other side of your MBP.

O, and if you plan to use this on your lap, look first at the contours of the bottom. Although the large feet make a great base on a hard surface, you may want to use a lapboard or something similar between the plastic edges of the bottom surface and your legs.

Even with the minor issues (after fiddling with it a bit and getting things settled in) I am very happy with this product. It does the trick with my MBP, even when I play WoW.

[+] 10.0 An amazing cooler!
My husband's laptop had issues with overheating (Dell Latitude D630 - 14") and I got him this cooler.
All computers (including laptops) need cooling - laptops are small/thin and there is not much space for fans... and that's where this unit comes handy.

What we noticed about this cooler:
- It's very light
- Aluminum top is great for spreading heat and keeping the laptop cool
- It's very quiet (on High you can bearly hear the sound of fans, and on Low you don't hear it at all)
- Cable is short so that it does not "dangle"; but not too short - it can reach at the back of laptop for USB connection. If you still can't reach USB connection on your laptop, because it's on the oposite side, you can always turn the cooler for 180 degrees so that connection on cooler comes to the right side (it's symetric, so it does not matter how you turn it).
- There is compartment for storing the cable when cooler is not in use
- Rubber on the bottom provides good grip - there is on slippage on wooden/glass surfaces
- It fits great on the lap
- Rubber on the top provides good grip - laptop is not slipping from the cooler
- Laptop fits great on this cooler (note that it's only 14" laptop).
- Cooler is quite thin and light so it's easy to put it in laptop bag and carry it with the laptop.

We like it very much, and we are going to get one more - for my laptop.
What I can say is that this is an amazing cooler and I do recommend it.

[+] 10.0 Does it's job very well.
Over all this is an excellent product. It is quiet and cools efficiently. The obly mild criticism is that the rubber tabs, to prevent the laptop from sliding, come off easily. Excellent value for the cost.

[+] 10.0 Works like a breeze!
This fan so far has worked very well, and does not seem to have any trouble doing its job. It keeps my computer generally below 100 degrees which, is much better than my old fan, and this is on the low setting! I would recommend this fan and it's very much worth the price. The blue light might be annoying to some, but it makes a useful light when I'm walking around in the dark with my laptop, haha.
Reviewer [A1GHFCAM1KBK35] | Date [September 18, 2008]
[+] 10.0 It works!!
it does the job, and very well. keeps my 17" laptop very cool. without it the keyboard would be very warm, not any more. the design is perfect, pulling hot air down and away from the laptop vs. other coolers that blow the hot air up and back onto the laptop. my particular laptop pulls air from the side (not the bottom) and exhausts it out the back. this simply makes the job easier by keeping the whole laptop cooler to begin with.

another plus, for me anyway, is that it keeps the laptop level, and doesn't try to angle it upward. it's quite. i keep it on low and never have needed the higher speed.

[+] 8.0 Probably the best of the bunch
I had a black plastic cooler from Staples previously and it was unsightly in the extreme. The Antec looks great ... you gotta love the brushed aluminium look and blue light! Its lightweight but also has a durable feel. Here's the thing: if you have a flush-bottomed computer (like my MacBook Pro) it isn't great because the fan blows upwards. I have stuck four of those plastic dots you get for kitchen doors on mine (we just renovated) so it still looks great, but now the fan cools properly.

[+] 10.0 Awesome laptop cooler
This is an awesome product. I have purchased and returned others that look sturdy and efficient on the package only to find the product is cheap plastic. Not this one. The dual powered fan keeps my MacBook cool. And the metal base plate is well contructed. And I love the fact that the USB port plug has its own port so you don't lose a slot for other USB peripherals. I highly recommend this Antec notebook cooler--stay COOL!!

I am very glad with this product. It is really very good & my laptop which used to get quite hot on the hard disk side is nice and cool due to the fan. It is very quite even on the high mode speed.
