not as advertised
As I received this product from "Lawn and Patio", one of the burner legs was sticking 6 inches thru the bottom of the original Bayou Classic box. The solution? Put it into another more flimsy box and ship it. Luckily the product itself is quite sturdy and didn't appear damaged.
However, I have realized that the unit did not ship with the 20 psi regulator/hose assy, but 10 psi (55000 btu) which has a different end fitting which means I will have to buy more parts to get what I want. At least another $27. The way Amazon does things it is way less than obvious what to do when something like this happens. Usually a lot of effort to get nowhere.
I believe the product itself is probably fine. I suggest buying from another vendor not associated with Amazon.

very suprised...
I have to admit that for the price I thought this would be just another cheaply made piece of junk from china. I haven't actually checked, but I'm pretty sure that it is made in China, but it is indeed a heavy duty piece. I was unsure of the stability from the looks of the picture, but it is made of a pretty heavy gauge steel, and I'm sure it would handle any size pot that I could put on there. The burner is a very high output which makes it practical for just about anything you could throw at it. I've searched the internet for quite some time b4 actually buying this model, and I can't imagine anything else that I've seen could be a better value.

Great value! Super product
What a fantastic burner. I purchased two and now rarely cook on my conventional stovetop. Strong power. The only few minor negatives. The paint burns off when the burner is turned on. Toxic smell. The other negative is this does not hold a low simmer well. Mabey I am doing something wrong. Other than that, wow, this saves my house from heating up, smells from fish and bacon and frying are no more. What a terrific buy. So so glad I purchased this.
We were having about 50 guests over for a Low Country Boil and had to have more than the one burner that came with our turkey fryer set. I ordered two of these burners and have no complaints whatsoever. They are much more efficient than the one we already had. They were easily lit and maintained and we were even able to lower the flame to keep the food hot but not simmering. The price is unbeatable and the shipping was very fast. There were several people there that took down the item number and where they were bought to purchase their own. Thanks so much. They will be used over and over again.
I am a homebrewer and tired of waiting to heat my mash water on the stove. Even worse, waiting to bring your 6.5 gallons of wort to a mild boil would take over a hour and a half. Purchased this burner and it brings that wort up to a boil in less than 20 minutes. This burner has saved me over 2 hours off of my brewing time. I would reccomend anyone who needs a powerful burner to pick this up. The price was amazing and the performance of this burner is amazing.
Takes 1 minute to setup, run the burner for 20-30 minutes prior use for the first time...or sand off the paint of the burner grill. Its going to smell bad but just have a fan facing it to force the smell away from your house. After that, no burnt smell issue. Not a problem for me because the performance outweights the stupidity of painting the grill.
i would give it 9/10 rating and 10/10 for the price

the great outdoors
My husband and I got this to save on electricity and also to keep our house from heating up when we wanted to can in the warm summer months. It has already won us over. We did all our spaghetti sauce and apple sauce outdoors! The kids were playing and making a mess (and so were we), but we weren't cooped up, and the kitchen stayed clean! So far everything seems to be working perfectly. We have great plans for it!

Awesome High Pressure Cooker for the Price!
We used the Bayou Classic SP-10 to put up 60 quarts of our family piccalilli. Great heat--worked like a charm! Awesome cooker for the price! We're totally satisfied with our purchase.
I use this for making beer in the backyard. Keeps the house smelling nice which keeps the wife happy. Its an excellent product - boiled a pot of water faster than I could get the ingredients ready. Easy to control flame on product was excellent too. Next time I would have opted for the leg extensions.
The burner worked very well with the 36qt. pot I purchased. It had plenty of power to boil the water. I would recommend this product.

works well, but painted with non-flame resistant paint...
the unit works well but is painted with paint that will burn off the top half of the burner during first use. Go ahead and buy it, but DON'T cook on it without turning it on for 30 minutes on high to burn off the pain first, or you'll end up with toxic ash in whatever you are cooking.
Ended up with 2 cookers one I paid pastage and one I didn't. For 185000 BTU it takes 25 min to heat up 7 gal of water. My old 76000BTU did it faster. Did see where I can do something to the needle valve. I tried to stop the second cooker but to no avail.

Excellent Cooker
I bought this cooker for home brewing purposes, and it was a very good decision on my part. The burner is more efficient with respect to fuel consumption than I was expecting. It is large enough to easily accomodate my 10-gallon stock pot, but not so large that my old 4-gallon pot can't be used too. The flames stayed strong, even in moderate wind.
Have owned it for about a month now, no problems. We use it on daily basis, does a good job even when it's really windy out.

Gets the job done
I bought the SP10 for home brewing purposes. I didn't need anything fancy, just a burner that could handle up to 5 gallons at a time. The price at Amazon was fantastic and the burner did an admirable job of quickly and efficiently bringing my batch to boil. It's a bit noisy, but since it is used outdoors that's not really a problem. Additionally, it provides an unexpected bonus now that we're in hurricane season - I can use it for preparing food and boiling water in the event of an extended power outage. Great product!
great product! cut my cooking time in half!
con: burn too strong and may damage non-stick cookwares.

Very nice and efficient
I have used this cooker a few times for crabs and corn on the cob, it is great! It keeps the kitchen cool and odor free. It boils water very fast without using an extreme amount of gas. You can control the heat output with the regulator. The unit is very sturdy and will accommodate a large pot. The braded steel (Can't tell it is braded hose from pic) hose and regulator would cost you as much as this whole cooker! Just go to a big store or on line and price one, you will see.
Fantastic price, most high pressure burners start around 50 bucks and just go up from there. This one puts out the same amount of heat and is high quality for a much better price.
I bought my Bayou Classic SP10 and was surprised how quickly it arrived considering the low shipping cost. It works great! I wish I bought one years ago. If you are into brewing beer or cooking turkeys shop no more if you don't need too many bells and whistles.
Paint burns off on first use, leaving it looking bad. Temp/gas flow control is a bit touchy. It is very sturdy and puts out a ton of heat, I was able to boil a 10 gal pot in under 10 min.

A Great Tool for Many Uses
It would be worth the price if all I ever used it for was to light a chimney of charcoal for grilling or barbecuing. Enough charcoal to fill the average grill lights up in less than 10 min.
It's also a great burner for a large wok, even if a little short for this purpose. I can easily adjust the flame to suit what I'm cooking.
I also use it with a dutch oven for frying chicken or with a stock pot for boiling vegetables. The base is so sturdy it will hold a lot of weight, and the wind guard keeps the flame from turning sooty.
Bayou Classic has improved the design since my first one, which turned unsafe after two years of use. A leak developed where the hose joins to the burner, and flames shot out the vents. When I received my new burner, I was glad to see an improvement not pictured above--a steel snakeskin for the hose to protect it from fire and hot grease.
I'm sure I'll find other uses for this economic cooker in the years to come.

If the directions included are followed, hardly a fire hazard and well worth the price of the peanut oil. Oven baked turkey is for the birds!

Great for beer or anything else
I bought this just to use for making my beer. After many complaints by the women of the house about the smell of the beer cooking I decided to get a cooker I could use outside. The burner gets very hot and works well. Like some of the other reviewers said the first use produces lots of smoke and a strong chemical odor. Why the company put that on there is beyond me. If you like to make beer or like to cook outside this is right for you.

Coating burns off during first use
Just used this for the first time and the black coating on the iron around the burner burned off during first use creating ashes, smoke, and a foul odor. Why would there be flammable paint on a burner? Other than that, it seems to work well. Boiled water quickly and the three legs made it very stable.

Great for the Price
This item works great and can put out some heat, I use it for my "Discos" Plow Disk Cookers to go camping tailgaiting and stuff. The wind screen helps a lot, because you can cook anywhere... great product!
Was everything as stated.Really love this cooker. Is built very sturdy.Box was pretty banged up and legs were almost coming out the box.One small screw was missing on the regulator but should be able to replace. All in all am very happy with the cooker.

Bayou Classic SP10 works like a champ!
The Bayou Classic cut about 45 minutes to an hour off of my brew time. Got three gallons of water to a boil in less than half the time of my kitchen range, and held a good strong boil for an hour. If you're a homebrewer looking to leave the stovetop, and go to an outdoor propane cooker, this is the one to buy.

Works Great, Awesome bargain w/ the super saver shipping
I used the SP10 for the first time last weekend. It was about 50 degrees out and I got a 8 gal. keg of cold tap water up to a boil in about 30 minutes; very impressed. I was a bit disappointed with the fact that because i was using such a large vessel (a bit wider than the unit itself) much of the escaping heat burned a lot of the black paint on the unit and emmited a not too pleasant smell for some time. I guess this is inevitable, and they probably just paint them for astetic reasons, but this is a hot flame! I also bought an extra burner (model BG10) for about $10 and a 20psi regulator kit, so if you had an extra stand or could improvise, that would be another way to go to get the same quality heat.
Cheers!

This burner puts out a lot of BTUs but it's also pretty noisy. I use it with a 9 gallon pot and it gets boiling quick. Served my purposes (beer brewing) perfectly!

Good clambake burner
I do a few small clambakes, say for up to 75 people or so, and over the years I have used quite a few propane burners of various makes and models. As it looks like I may be getting into the business myself, I've been looking for a good one to standardise around.
And I think this is it. Nice, compact design, good height ( you don't want to lift a 60 quart stockpot any higher than necessary ) rugged construction, plenty of heat ( 185,000 BTU) and at the same time it'll go down to a nice simmer. I think the burners will nest and stack, making storage and transport easy. Nice big cooking surface that'll easily hold an 80 quart stockpot. Looks like I will be picking up several more...
