[+] 10.0 Cool...
Firewires are cool... if you buy them for products that are firewire compatible. Oops, my bad.

[+] 6.0 ?
thought it would work on a macbook pro, unfortunately it doesn't but i suppose it does the job regardless on another computer.

[+] 6.0 Plastic molding may be too large
Some products that use these cables may not have enough clearance for the cable to be inserted fully.
I have a MovieBox DV and its cover prevents the full insertion of these cables. Also, the cables are
very stiff which makes using them with small or light weight items difficult.

[+] 2.0 Do Not Buy this cable from Technology Galaxy
The item costs $9 but they will charge you $16 shipping and handling. When I complained to Amazon they said I can return the merchandise but shipping and handling is not refundable. This Technology Galaxy will rip you off in a heart beat. I would give them a minus zero rating if there was a star for that in the rating system.

[+] 10.0 Meets the need
The cable is a fairly thick one, it wants to keep the original folded shape.
The cable fits well in my laptop and was able to transfer data from several drives with no issue.

The 4pin firewire side is a small connector, so be careful not to snap it off or break the laptop connector.
I do not think this is an issue with this cable, but the 4 pin connector size and design.
For the price, I would purchase this cable again.

[+] 10.0 Great cable :)
I had been struggling with USB streaming with my camera. Then moved to vista and my usb driver was not supported. Got this cable and everything worked out of the box.
No drivers needed. Just plug & play.

Firewire is also a LOT faster. Movies are transferred sooooo fast now. Can't believe I didn't get this thing before. ^_^

[+] 10.0 This is the best firewire I've used so far.
I purchased this firewire to capture video from the Panasonic DVX-100 camera to my Macbookpro. Not only does it functions well, it connects real easy, easy to plug in and plug out, and it stays firm when it's plugged in so the cable doesn't disconnect by a simple pull. Some other cable that I've used will create malfunction from time to time, either not connecting well and makes me loose my video signal during capturing. The Belkin firewire doesn't have that trouble. Plus, the pricing is a bargain. It's got the right quality at an affordable price.

[+] 8.0 Does the work
For the price, great value. Only used it 3 times and works great. Aesthetically, it's bulky compared to the one sold at the Apple store - I paid under $10 (including shipping), the one at the Apple store is $30 plus tax. Great value & I think it'll be a good workhorse, only time will tell.

[+] 10.0 Excellent product, and much cheaper than at the store
I needed to get mini DV recordings onto the computer, so I installed a firewire card in my PC and then attached this firewire cable to that card; the other side goes into the video camera.

The cable allows for smooth transfer of data from camcorder to the computer, and it's quite a bit cheaper than what stores are charging.

[+] 2.0 Didn't sync
I purchased this firewire cable to sync my Sony camera to my MacBookPro. The Sony was not recognized by my Mac. As I do not have any alternate electronics w/firewire output, I do not know if it is a cable problem or incompatibility between Sony/Apple.

[+] 6.0 Link failed
I went ahead and got the link along with the cassette tapes and cleaning tape, all together. The cable didn't fit my camera, as I had hoped. So, if you own a JVC miniDV camera, just a warning it probably won't work. Otherwise, seems like a good cable, I don't mind keeping it for other uses.

[+] 10.0 It's a cable...
Works great. Maybe someday camcorders will just be packaged with them so we don't have to buy them separately.

[+] 8.0 Good heavy-duty cable
I needed a new Firewire cable to replace the Apple brand one I had for about 3 years to connect my video camera to my computer. This cable works well, but the braided metal cable covered with plastic is rather stiff, and it seems to put undue pressure on the port on my camera. Other than that, a very good purchase.

[+] 10.0 Works Great, Not necessary to pay more!
I use this product to connect my video camera to my PC and the cable works great! when transfering the data to my PC I had no dropped frames or anything (of course alot of that depends on your pc too). Its Belkin Brand which is a big player in the cable industry. To pay more for this cable would be foolish!

we are using this to transfer our video from our handycam. It gives superior results to usb transfer, in our experience. Older pcs may require Firewire cards, too.

[+] 10.0 Great product!
Good transfer speed for transferring video from my Sony Handycam!!
It took a lot of research and many full video tapes before I decided that this was what I needed to transfer video from my Sony Handycam. The problem was, the Sony manual only specified an "ilink" and gave very little information on what an ilink was. It took hours to find out that it's just Sony's name for a firewire cable. Then the question was "which firewire would fit my handycam and PC connections?" Pictures of firewires sold on amazon showed that this was the one.
It was pure heaven when I plugged it in and I was finally able to download video to my PC.

[+] 10.0 Wrong One, But I'm Sure It Works Well
It looks well-made and I always trust Belkin products. The only problem I had was I didn't realize I ordered the wrong one - I needed a 4-pin/9-pin Firewire. Make sure you know this is the one you need before you buy it!

[+] 10.0 Sturdy, well-made, does the job
I purchased this cable in order to transfer video from my Sony Handycam to my Macbook. I haven't had any problems whatsoever. The cable is very thick and sturdy, and I'm sure it will hold up well. I trust the Belkin name and this purchase confirmed that they put out quality products. Finally, the price here on Amazon couldn't be beat; I saw the same cable later at an electronics store and it was twice as much. Thanks, Amazon!

[+] 4.0 Be sure your computer accepts a 6 pin connector
My 2-star rating is just to get your attention to a potential, incorrect assumption you may make (as I did.)

When I saw that there was only one fire wire cable available with this camera, I assumed the available fire wire cable would be correct for my laptop. I assumed complete standardization.

I was wrong.

Had I read the description carefully and examined my laptop fire wire port with perhaps a magnifying glass, I might have been able to determine that my laptop port was a 4-pin port, not a 6-pin port. Since I had never seen a fire wire cable or connector before I didn't realized there could be a cable with two 4-pin connectors.

My suggestion would be for you to conduct that investigation on your own computer.

Alternatively, the product description could state that some (or many computers) have 4-pin fire wire ports. It would be helpful to show a picture or graphic each type of computer port. The description could then indicate that the correct cable for that computer would be the Belkin F3N402-03-ICE 4-Pin to 4-Pin FireWire Cable (3-Feet), also available at Amazon.

[+] 10.0 Great
I felt risky ordering these, but they're just fine, work great, no problems at all plugging them into camcorder or Mac USBs to capture footage in Final Cut. I ordered 15 for the school where I teach and students have been using them all the time, no problems at all. I will say I felt it was nasty that they shipped all 15 together but charged for each one shipping separately - and they charged a HUGE shipping fee for each. When I wrote asking them, they answered but they were icy.

[+] 8.0 Great FireWire Cable
I bought this item to transfer movies from a DV camera to my computer, the cable works great and it was cheaper (with shipping) than cables that were available at my local BestBuy and Radio Shack. Would recommend to anyone who is looking for a FireWire Cable.

I've used this cord on my video camera for nine months and it still works fine. I don't abuse it but it seems sturdy enough.

I've bought lots of Belkin stuff and this is another good product at a good price.

[+] 10.0 It works. No flaws so why pay an outragious price for one that doesn't work any better?
Belkin cable is one of the premier cable companies in the world. When I was in the busines of designing networks, I always specified Belkin as the cable of choice. It never failed. I am not sure if Belkin assembled this cable or not, but I will testify that this firewire cable works as described.

[+] 10.0 Perfect for less
The Belkin 4-Pin/6-Pin 400 Mbps FireWire Cable is a useful device in what you need to transfer your camcorder that uses mini tapes or DV. This a great price so don't settle for the $30.00 ones at the stores. They both have the same use to transfer video so why buy the higher price?

[+] 10.0 Belkin FireWire Cable for Camcorder Transfers
Belkin is known for quality products, so I thought it would be wise to buy their cable for transferring my camcorder footage to my computer. Not disappointed. Cable performed perfectly. Cheaper ones are available, but I prefer to go with a brand I can trust. Less headaches.

[+] 10.0 Pay for the cord or pay the Price!
I do a lot of transferring of mini dv footage and having the right cord has proved to be very important. A lot of people are unaware that by buying a cheap cord, you are taking a chance at ruining your camera. It wasn't till recently that I had discovered that my fire wire port had gone out twice on my Panasonic. At first I thought it was the camera or maybe the computer. Then I did some research and found out that not all cords have a static guard. So what what happening is a static charge was generating and it sent that through my camera which disabled it's fire wire port function.

So don't go cheap. Buy a well respected name like Belkin, because you don't want to end up spending $200 just to fix a fire wire port!

[+] 10.0 Quality Cable For The Right Price
The camcorder I purchased did not come with one of these, which was surprising as the previous two I've owned did. All the stores in my area were were charging $30+ for one of these. I refused to pay 5% of the cost of the camcorder for a cable which had been included in the past. Amazon came through yet again with a reasonable price and this cable works perfectly with my Canon HV20.
