[+] 2.0 Short Battery Life Makes It Useless
I bought this item expecting to blow debris around my very small lot. The battery would only run 5 to 7 minutes on a full charge. Don't buy it.

[+] 10.0 This thing is great
I was skeptical when some folks said it didn't have any power but it is just what I am looking for - and frankly just what they advertise it to be. Yes, it only has about 10-15 minutes of power but that has been plenty of time to blow off the deck, the sidewalks around the front and side of the house as well as the driveway. I have had it a few months and used it several times. Still have my corded one but hardly use it since it is such a pain to drag the cord out, untangle it and work around it. I liked this product so much I bought the matching weed eater. Love it too.

[+] 6.0 A little gutless, but handy for a quick sweep
I bought this B&D because I grew tired of using my plug-in electric version. Let's face it, it's a drag to haul out a 60 foot extension cord just to sweep some dust and leaves off the patio. I also own a gas-powered version, but it's the same deal with that - I save it for the truly big jobs.

So, this battery powered sweeper is a good buy - but the buyer should be aware that he is not getting something you could do a Saturday's worth of yard work with. I also recommend having a spare battery always charged, as the thing just runs out of juice too fast.

I'm glad I bought it because I just keep it in my back yard and when I need to sweep away dirt/dust, it's handy enough for that. But don't bother using this for any real work.

[+] 4.0 Needs more oomph!
I have used this blower 4 times and find it to be lacking in wind velocity to move light debri from the garage floor and outside deck. I expected it to be close to the power of my Toro plug in blower's lower speed but it is not. I can blow out the garage in less then 60 seconds with the electric blower but the cordless one takes several minutes and agravating effort when use to something better. I bought it for the convenience of not needing to plug in and wind up a cord. The description said it was not for leaves in the yard so I knew I would not use it for that purpose but I expected better on the garage and deck.Black & Decker NS118 18-Volt Cordless Electric Broom Hard Surface Sweeper

[+] 10.0 Perfect ltweight yard blower
I have purchased 4 of these for gifts the past few years. My only regret is Black and Decker stopped putting in two batteries and now there have just one.
This is an amazing tool. It is not intended for blowing leaves from a dozen oak trees etc, but if you have clipping from mowing, lots of walks, patios, pool areas etc, this is the perfect tool. If you have a large yard, pool etc., you may want to invest in a 2nd battery.

[+] 4.0 Short Battery Life . . . Shorter by the Day.
The blower works OK for very light duty stuff, but the durations get ever shorter and shorter. I've had mine for a few years now, and the only saving grace is it came with 2 batteries. I get about 5 minutes out of a charge now if I'm lucky.

So yes ..... this is more or less an adult toy .....weak and cheap. Replacement batteries are grossly overpriced considering the performance they offer. . . they should be about $10.

[+] 6.0 Good Blower but the battery is weak
I purchased this leaf blower with 2 battery packs. I found it to have enough power to blow away debris, leaves, etc on my sidewalk, driveway etc.

my only complaint is the battery lasts about 10 minutes and can take hours even a full day to recharge. I have 2 batteries so in order to blow away debris, leaves I end up having to use both batteries....

[+] 10.0 18 vole blower

yes, thank you for the opportunity. It is everything i hoped it would be and serves my purpose. i have other 18 volt accessories and that makes the batteries interchangeable. which is great to keep one charged all the time for when one gets low. i had a small problem with the shipment of being short an item but black and decker took care of the shortage immediately and am completele satisfied. thanks again for the deal you gave me and i will continue shopping amazon.com. dfavid b b bailey

[+] 6.0 Good but fairly weak
It works fairly well, and having the battery fit in with B&D's family of chargeable cordless devices is convenient, but the output is a little weak. So if you need a heavy duty blower, you might want to get a corded model, but for light sweeping this one works fine.

[+] 10.0 Great Product When Used as Intended
This sweeper is well made for its price point, and does a great job. It is NOT a LEAF BLOWER, and is not marketed as suitable for that purpose.

It does a great job sweeping out the garage and grass clipping off the driveway, cleaning the gutters, and and blowing the water out of the door jambs and grill after washing the car.

I actually purchased this mostly for the battery. A new battery for my B&D cordless 6" chainsaw is $40, and the Sweeper was only $50 as a refurb from CPO Black & Decker. Figured for $10, might as well get the sweeper with its battery & charger.

To my great surprise, the Sweeper came with 2 batteries, so I now have a total of 3 (the chainsaw only came with one battery, and the saw depletes it quickly). All three batteries are inter-changable.

Overall, I am very happy with the quality and usefulness of the Sweeper, and with its purchase from CPO B&D.

[+] 10.0 DOES THE JOB - EASY HANDLING
this is exactly what i was looking for. does the job well. not very loud like some leaf blowers can be.

one personal con but by no means a discouragement for purchasing: may have been my not reading all the product details beforehand but was a little bummed that charging the unit requires the battery to be removed and placed in a separate charging dock (included). i guess i was expecting a cord to plug right in to the blower itself and charge as i used to have one that did this and it seemed easier than having to remove the battery. i guess they do this now since the battery can fit into other Black & Decker products so it's a nice feature in that regard.

[+] 10.0 WHAT HAPPENED TO THE EXTRA BATTERY?
Unfortunately it doesn't come with an extra battery anymore...whats with that?! I've owned this now for two years and its never let me down. (It was a great deal back then for sixty bucks on sale at walmart) I've been very happy with this blower and getting the extra battery was definitely the deal clincher. I would have to reconsider now that it only comes with one.
I've read where some people had problems with their batteries but I haven't. The blower, batteries and charger have always been stored indoors in our laundry room. Never outside and not in the garage where the temps fluctuate so maybe that's made a difference. After 2yrs I haven't noticed any real change in the battery life and it still works like new.
I use both batteries fully charged in the fall for leaves and are easily able to do the 12x16 back deck, the 5x20 front porch, the 6' concrete decking around 20x40 IG pool and 20x16 outdoor cabana. I use one fully charged battery every day in the summer to clean the pool and cabana area. It's very light weight and easy to swing back and forth. It's so quiet my wife said it sounds like her hair dryer. The second battery is easy enough to just carry in my hand or coat pocket. I've always kept one battery in the charger and the other in the blower. When I'm ready to use it I swap out the batteries. If I'm going to need both batteries I just swap them and wait 30-45min then get started and carry the extra one with me. Like any thing else you buy, if you take care not to abuse it you'll get years of trouble free use.

[+] 8.0 Cordless Blower Review
I read the other reviews on this one prior to purchase. I wanted something that could provide enough power to clear some leaves from the yard and also be used by family members for the more normal day to day operations (blow deck, blow out garage, blow grass trimmings, etc.). This blower is very light so it is easy to use. It has a large "toggle" type flat switch for easy on/off operation. It is very nice for the day to day work and can be used for some moderate leaf clearing in the Fall. You will need a gas or plug in variety for the heavy duty work. I am happy with the purchase though. It does what I had hoped it would do and the battery lasts long enough between charges to complete these tasks.

[+] 10.0 A Clean Sweep
The purchase from Amazon was flawless; the trimmer was on by front porch within three days of the order placement. Amazing. Be careful opening the box. I got a nasty paper cut in my eagerness to rip off the box top with brute force. Inside the box everything was expertly packaged and protected with egg carton quality cardboard shell.
Luckily operating the machine is simple because the direction sheet leaves much to be desired. It displays as many languages as a United Nations guide, but all in small print, all directions overly succinct. What you need to know is on the direction sheet but not necessarily easy to find because of a lack of clarity and organization.

The small pictures provided require the use of a magnifying glass. The pictures aren't annotated with text, just numbered sequentially.

In the Yard

When one buys a yard toy he doesn't really need, especially one that costs a hundred dollars, expectations and hopes are high. To this reviewer's relief, Black and Decker's cordless trimmer exceeds all expectations and far surpasses any preconceptions of performance and utility. Without clear directions I did have a bit of difficulty attaching the tool's handle, but after that little chore it was all uphill.

So far this handy trimmer has performed flawlessly from one end of Spud Acres to its brother. On one charge I trimmed the front beds, the edges of the asphalt driveway, and most of the beds in the backyard. With extra batteries it's a snap to replace a spent battery with a fresh one. With the batteries included with my other Black and Decker cordless yard tools, and the Firestorm 18V battery bought recently, I have 6 batteries for the three tools. Even if a battery is attached to each tool, I still have two fresh batteries on standby on the chargers.

Recommendation

This tool easily rates five stars. It's quieter than my other two trimmers, has more than adequate power for my needs, and is easy to maneuver. At first I thought that the pull down edge guide was a useless gimmick, but it actually works very well. Also the automatic line-feed feature is wonderfully convenient.

NOTES - Be sure to remove tape from the line cutter and the spool. This bit of advice is not mentioned in the directions.
I bought three spools of prewound line when I bought the trimmer, but learned from the directions that one can use bulk line to rearm an empty spool. I like the convenience of using spools ready to use.

This is a great product. It does exactly as advertised. I get about 15 minutes of power on a full charge. Plenty of time to blow off the front walk, front and side steps and the back deck. Lightweight and easy to handle.

[+] 8.0 Great for Cond Owners
Our condo development has corridors that collect leaves and dust and this blower is great for keeping the corridors and stairways and landings clean. Also works great in removing leaves from the garage and in front of the garage door. I bought a second battery but what I have to do takes less than ten minutes once a week and I haven't had to use the extra battery. Also works great at dealing with cobwebs in the corridors that are too high to reach. A perfect choice for condo and townhome owners with walks or landings.

[+] 6.0 Light, convenient, but weak and brief
The blower is light and easy to handle. Cordless is convenient. But the blower is weak and can only handle a small amounts of dry leaves on a hard surface.

Only 5 minutes of blowing per charge on the battery, so you will want an extra battery if you have more than a small sidewalk to blow.

[+] 10.0 Color me happy!
I love this little blower! I can grab it at a moment's notice and blow the leaves, pine needles, and other debris out of my courtyard. SOOO much easier than dragging out the corded electric blower for quick light jobs! Fits my "girl hands" nicely, not too heavy, not too noisy, lasts about 15 minutes. For the big jobs, I'll still get out the "monster" electric blower that works like a hurricane coming through, but with this little guy I find myself blowing leaves and stuff frequently now, instead of dreading getting out the big one for a small job. I'm going to look at the other items they make that uses the same battery pack too.

[+] 10.0 Great buy!
I bought this to clear the small patio at my mom's apartment. Weight was a real selling point, as my mom may want to use it when I'm not around. (We live 3 hours apart.) I wrapped it up and gave it to her as a birthday present, since she has expressed concerns when the patio is littered and she has some mobility problems. I used it twice on my most recent visit and was very pleased with its performance. Mom was thrilled! So if you're looking for a gift for your 80-something-year-old mother...

[+] 8.0 Good Blower with Expected Limitations
This is generally a good blower. The only way you would dislike it is if you set your expectations too high. Before I bought it, I read the reviews and features, and knew that it works well in hard surfaces, has a 10-15 minutes run time, and is not suitable for sweeping leaves on your lawn. After having used it for over three months now, it hasn't disappointed me, unless I try to get it to do things that it's not designed to do, like sweep leaves off my lawn. Its light weight and low noise are great plusses, as is the fairly strong wind speed it generates. Its a great tool to keep my concrete driveway, walkway and garage clean.

[+] 10.0 This a keeper.
I have never done a review on a product, but I feel I must review about this product. I live in a Townhome with an enclosed patio 10 x 40. Leaves often blow into the patio and I have flowering plants that drop their flowers. I can easily remove all debris in 2 to 5 minutes and also sweep my driveway. I purchased an additional battery pack for larger jobs, but so far have not had to switch out when sweeping. If you do have to switch out the battery pack for longer jobs, it is easy and convenient.

Doesn't hold a charge very long at all, weak, noisy, bottom-heavy, and too wheezy to blow anything away except a pile of dead ants, and dry ones at that.

[+] 10.0 Handy and powerful.
Just what I was looking for! Grab quickly and clean up sidewalks, driveway, etc. Lightweight. With a corner lot, it will run down with steady 10-15 min. usage but really cleans up well. Battery recharges very quickly. Ready in 1/2 hr. to use again. I highly recommend it! Reasonably priced, too!

[+] 8.0 broom not a leaf blower
Works well for cleaning off light clippings from sidewalks and driveway. This is not a leaf blower, if that is your purpose it will not perform well. Great for its intended purpose, nice to have two batteries for the most part one will do but there is an occasional need for the second one. I also have the weed eater, so 4 batteries and I get the yard done pretty quickly ~ 1 acre. Trying to go all battery power except the rider, so far pretty satisfied with these item after a year.

[+] 8.0 Approval
I find the blower quite adequate for my purposes. I am not piling leaves of blowing anything heavy. But for my purposes in blowing debris from the drive and sidewalks it is perfect. The test will be in how long the battery lasts. A charge will last about 10-12 minutes continuous blow. As the battery ages that time will reduce. I have had the unit about 2 months and it certainly still works fine. Only time can tell.

[+] 8.0 Multiple batteries
The Cordless Electric Broom Hard Surface Sweeper works well for about 7-9 minutes before the battery fades. I blow the dust out of my garage and clear the driveway, sidewalks and back yard patio using three batteries to get it all done.

I bought this product after reading many of the reviews. Most of the negative reviews complained about the batteries. Since I have the string trimmer and drill that use the same battery, I now have five batteries with three chargers.

I would not have purchased this product if I did not have the other batteries and chargers. With the multiple batteries I can use two batteries to get all my trimming done, and then use the other three to sweep up.

If you have the other tools that use these batteries I would recommend it. If you only use the one battery that comes with the blower, I wouldn't recommend it.

[+] 8.0 B and D cordless broom perfect for garage
Perfect for the garage. Not too powerful, quiet, and just right for a smooth surface. No cranking or mixing the fuel. Now we men will not have to crank up the blower when we ask our wives to clean up the garage while we sit back and drink beer and watch the game. The broom is quiet which means she will not disturb us while watching the football games and she can finish in the time it takes to gulp down a cold one. It is also lightweight. She can easily carry a beer or two with the electric broom and save herself a trip. Perfect!

[+] 8.0 Great blower for value
I recently bought this blower from Meijer. I was looking for a blower that was non-gas powered and portable. I've heard too many expensive stories about working on and replacing gas powered blowers. I was replacing a B&D corded blower given to me used and it couldn't even blow my hair dry.
The power on this blower surprised me the second I turned it on. It cleared more than I thought it would. Great for any light debris that needs to be moved.
The battery use is somewhat short. I have a short driveway with a sidewalk and door walkway, and it was able to clear all this with no problem but then noticed it was losing power. I have no comment on the enclosed charger as it has done its job thus far.
I highy recommend this blower for short light duty. It is very powerful, lightweight and good value.

[+] 10.0 Excellent pool deck blower
Our pool is in a woodsy location, so leaves and twigs are an issue on the walkways and patio by the pool. In the past I used an electric blower, and the required 40" extension cord always ended up falling into the pool. Therefore, the Black & Decker NS118 18-Volt Electric Broom has been perfect for the job, providing convenience and safety to the clean-up. The Blower is labeled as a hard surface sweeper, thus I do not expect it to do the heavy leaf clean-up in the autumn.

[+] 6.0 Bad Run Time
I did a lot of research on cordless leaf blowers, and decided that the
B&D NS118 would be the best. One of the most important factors that I did not see on the specs nor did I inquire about was the total run time on the blower before the battery ran down. I went ahead and purchased it. The first time I used it I was disappointed by the short run time. Turns out when I called the company I was told that it was about 12 minutes. If I had known this in the first place, I probably would not have purchased it.

[+] 2.0 Don't waste your money
The battery only lasts about 10 min. and you have to charge it for several hours before you use it; therefore, if you plan more than 10 min. of use, don't bother.

I had hoped to do my deck, driveway and gutter in front of the house. I can do either the deck or part of the driveway....did not even attempt to do the gutter in front of the house which would be at least 20 min.

Very disappointed.

[+] 6.0 Don't expect too much
I have the B&D Cordless Line Trimmer with the same batteries so I thought this was a good idea. I knew it wouldn't have the power of electric or gas, but it is a little underpowered even for what I was expecting.
It's good for grass clippings, leaves, etc., but if you're looking for fast cleaning of rocks and things like that, it's not gonna happen. For quick clean-ups after mowing this is a good deal; light and easy to use. The description is accurate - electric broom, not a blower.

[+] 2.0 Weak, battery hog, and all around useless tool!
I have a few B&D 18volt tools and I decided to buy a weed whacker and this electric broom. I was in for a surprise.

The weed whacker works great and the battery lasts for ever...as an FYI!

I charged the battery the day I received it...a full charge of about 18 hours..to be on the safe side. Put the battery in and went on to do my cleaning around the deck etc.... Yes there was air...it was OK..but not enough to sweep much. 15 minutes later it went to half power, and 10 minutes later it DIED.

My first reaction - the battery is bad, lets try a different one and if that is the case I can call B&D for a warranty replacement. NOT the case...all batteries in this thing died in less then 30 minutes and thus this is useless for me.

Other B&D 18volt tools, including the weed whacker work for 45 minutes plus and usually have full power for the first 30 minutes.

Sorry B&D but this is useless, IMHO. 1/5

[+] 8.0 Just What I needed!
Have had this product for about a month and am very satisfied. I also have the edger which came with 2 batteries so having three batteries total is a great plus. The title is very accurate this is an electric broom. Not meant for super heavy jobs, though I have blown leaves out of my flower beds. But if you need the sidewalks swept or the porch swept and you are tired of dragging out the broom, the black and decker is very light and works like a champ!

[+] 4.0 Weak Batteries
I had this blower for around 2 years. Initially, the batteries kept a charge pretty good, but after a few short months, the charge would only last around 10 minutes.

[+] 10.0 faster than sweeping
I purchased this electric broom for cleaning the leaves and sand that wind up on the gararge floor. It is great for cleaning the patio and the pavers on my walkway. I primarly use it on hard surfaces which was my intent. The run time has increased to about twelve minutes after several charge cycles. I leave it connected to the charger so it's always ready to go. It is a real time saver especially in corners and under my work bench. Great light weight product.

[+] 10.0 Very good ELECTRIC BROOM.
The Black and Decker CORDLESS BROOM does what it's supposed to do with a great price attached. It is lightweight, easyt to use and surprisingly strong for what it is. It somewhat quiet and comes with a battery and cheap charger. Bring a first time homeowner, i needed a blower/broom to clean up after mowing/edgeing and this does the trick. My house is 1350sq and i can use 1 battery for the driveway, walkway and sidewalk cleanup with little to no noticable drop in power.

PROS:
-Lightweight.
-Powerful. (considering its a cordless broom)
-Easy to use, convenient.

CONS:
-Cheapo battery charger.
-All plastic parts.
-on/off, no speed adj.

All being said, its the perfect product for people like me. The batteries fit my cordless grasshog, drill, saw, etc.. all my firestorm tools. Although don't expect to move piles of leaves with it, it does make quick work of grass, dirt, light debris. I cannot comment on the battery life as i haven't experienced it long enough, but it seems fine. Just don't expect to use it for 15mins+. Great product!

[+] 6.0 Corless broom
I find that the charge runs out sooner that expected and then blowing power is reduced. Works great for small 10 minute jobs.

The black & Decker elec broom is jst that. It,s fine for blowing dry grass and leaves off of hard surfaces. It was not designed as a yard leaf blower. If that,s what you need look elseware

[+] 10.0 Great light-weight blower!
Love the cordless! So much more convenient, I find myself cleaning off the patio more often. Great for cleaning up hard surfaces, but probably not enough power for the leaves in flower beds. We have a more powerful electric blower for the big jobs, but this is great for just cleaning up after mowing, or blowing off the patio when we're getting ready to barbeque. So nice not to have to haul around the big one and deal with the cord, and it's light weight enough that you can even put the kids to work (good luck with that). The battery doesn't have a terribly long life, so you do have to work fairly quickly if you're going all the way around the house after mowing.

Good product for the price; works great for what we had in mind; just make sure you charge the battery after each use.

[+] 10.0 LOVE THIS SWEEPER
I got tired of sweeping and/or washing our large concrete patio, driveway and garage floor, so decided to try the B&D 18V battery powered sweeper. This thing works great!! I takes me about 10 to 15 minutes to do what used to take about an hour. Yes, the battery does wear down in 10-15 minutes, but so what, I just ordered an extra battery and now have plenty of juice to do it all. I hear others complain about battery life but can't rate that yet as the sweeper is only a month old. So far I love it!!
