Canon CL-51 High-Capacity Color Ink Cartridge

We use this ink and it seems to be great. We get about the number of photos I would expect using this ink. It seems to print fine color photos. It is easy enough to install in our printer that my young son can do it.

I ordered a printer cartridge that showed up in new condition and it's working fine.

I know the printers are given away for a loss and the money is made on the ink, but the printers that use these are a true ripoff. If one color is out but the others are full... well, too bad. You need a new one. Grrrrr.

Third party manufacturers have a tough time with these b/c of the darn chips and design. I don't think that's fair.

It works, of course. But colored water for this price is absurd. Imagine if milk, water, or gas were $30 for a few ounces.

about an ink cartridge? They are the "genuine" article, and that's about that.

The reason for the 5 stars, actually, is because the cartridges are cheaper on Amazon than they are at my local office supply. My local Wal-Mart doesn't carry these.

The cartridge arrived relatively quickly, and based on current rate of use should last a long time. Would definitely buy again.

I just bought the Canon MP470, and this was listed as an accessory, so I was dumb enough to buy it without checking the reviews. The Pastor is right -- the 51 cartridge does NOT work on the MP470.

Thanks to Amazon for this item at a decent price. Canon is way too proud of it to buy it retail.

I bought the Canon MP 470 and some replacement cartridges from Amazon back in February. The color ink cartridge has just now run out and so I went to replace it. The cartridge that I had purchased was this one (CL-51) because I was trying to find the most economical route. (My old printer was a Dell, and it definitely was an ink guzzler!) From its description, reviews, and other information that I saw on Canon's website, I thought it would work the best for me. It fits into the printer, but my printer can't recognize the cartridge. After worrying that I was doing something wrong or that something was wrong with my computer and frantically going online, I finally read where someone else had made the same mistake that I did. Canon changed the software between the MP 450 and the MP 470 so that the high capacity ink cartridges do not work in the 470. Just make sure that this cartridge really will be compatible with your printer; Amazon and Canon's websites were not clear, in my opinion, and so now I am losing $$ on an ink cartridge that I can not use. Please learn from my mistake!

The cartridge that I ordered was defective and had to be returned. In the past I have had no problems with this product.

I purchased this as a replacement for the CL-41 ink cartridge for the Canon ip1700 printer. It does not work even though it has been claimed to be a direct replacement. Canon needs to do a better job at making this clear. I'm sure it works fine in another printer, but sadly I will not get to test it. Do not purchase this if you are using it for the Canon ip1700 printer!

I used filled cartridges on my last printer & ruined it, so I only use Canon & they seem to be keeping it in good shape.

Great ink. Price needs to be lower. It's expensive, but do I have a choice? As usual the printer is a good deal @ below $100, but ink is heavily marked up. Oh well ...

This cartridge last longer than the 41 standard cartridge. It works well with my Canon MP460 all-in-one printer.

I've been printing photos for the last six months, nearly 1500 so far. I have been using the "low" capacity cartridge and just finished up my first "high" capacity cartridge. I honestly, didn't notice any difference. The ink is great, quality product here, just didn't get "more" for my money.

Much better and longer lasting that the 41--don't bother with the 40s--go for the high capacity

The quality of this Ink is really good for it's price. WHile it's a little bit cost heavy for day-to-day normal printing, when you are in the need of printing a really good photo, this Ink hasn't let me down.

The best thing about these ink cartridges is that each one includes new printing heads. I've owned many Epson printers before and always had trouble keeping the heads in alignment and keeping them clean. Wasted a lot of ink and paper in adjusting those printers. I never have a problem with the Canon printer and think it's worth the small extra price to get new printing heads with every cartridge.

This is the genuine Canon color ink for my MP160. After searching for the product, Amazon's price was the lowest from the start, then with free shipping and handling and no sales tax, it was a great deal!

Price was good considering savings in tax and shipping. Delivery was prompt even though I selected the slower no-charge shipping. Very pleased.

I paid $27.98 for this ink cartridge Oct. 6, 2006 here at Amazon. Now it's $31.99 here....If it gets any more expensive, I'll get a new printer that uses cheaper ink ! It does an OK job but not substantially better than any other printer I've had....Next printer I buy will have off market cartridges....

Although a little expensive, I find that this product gives me the colors that I want to portray in my photos. I have not had a bad experience with my pictures and color printing.
