Can't Beat The Real Thing
I bought this battery after 3 of the cheaper (generic) batteries ran down after only a few pictures, one of those batteries swelled up and wouldn't come out of my camera. I'll not buy another generic battery for anything.
Although I have not had this battery for a long time yet, I find using the canon batteries do last longer than those that are just compatible with my camera. I haven't given it 5 stars because the real test will come with time.

Nothing like OEM batteries
Don't skimp when getting new batteries for your Powershot.
You will end up paying more for aftermarket batteries because you will have to buy twice as many because they only have half (maybe less) the life of these.

New battery for the camera
I purchased a new battery pack right before our trip to Alaska. We did not have any problems and even forgot to charge it one night and it still performed all the next day. This is the second battery I have bought for my S300. The first Canon battery pack lasted 5 years (it came with the camera), the second battery (first replacement) - a Maxwell - lasted only one year. I will only buy a Canon battery pack from now on. The life span is much longer. The Canon Battery Pack cost a little more but it is worth it in the long run.

Exact replacement
This is a perfect replacement for the original battery that came with my Canon S410 digital camera. After 3 years of heavy use (we have two lovely grand daughters, do I need to say more?) the original battery was not holding its charge as long, so we needed a replacement. New battery charged right up and is working as long as original used to. Very fast shipping from Amazon and good order notifications and tracking. Although this cost more than knock offs, for the fit, function and peace of mind this is a good purchase.
Seems to be working just like the original batteries did at first, I'm hoping it will last at least a year, so far so good.

Recycle those batteries, folks!
Fine product, alas, too bad it's so expensive!
But better to go with this than the knock-off ones that don't last as long.
I was getting really frustrated with my Canon Powershot S300. Five shots and the battery would be gone. This new battery gave NEW life to an old reliable camera.

Exactly as it should be!
I've had my digital camera for several years. I just recently purchased this battery as a replacement for the one it came with 4 years ago. That should tell you how long they last and how well they work. I highly recommend that you buy the Canon brand, it's worth the money.

Accurate replacement of the "real-thing"
There are plenty of negative reviews out there for the less expensive substitutes that I didn't want to hassle with that. So I decided to shell out money for the Canon branded replacement. Have had it for ~1 month and haven't used the camera a ton, but the one time I had to re-charge the battery, it didn't lose its charge rightaway like my old "dead" battery does. So it seems that I got the real thing.

Great - buy only original
I used the original battery that came with my camera for 5 years. Eventually it used to die after 5-6 pictures...
This one is Canon original, I was able to use it on five different occasions and take dozens of photos before charging again. And 5 minutes of charging gave it lots of juice. HIGHLY recommended. Worth the high price, and you probably won't find it cheaper then Amazon.
Don't buy generic. Buy this OEM product. Lasts as long as the original.

Why did the old battery swell up and stop working? I dunno. But since the camera uses this battery, I am up and running after a quick delivery.

Excellent long-lasting battery
We had purchased an after-market replacement battery when our original (which was about 5 years old) died. The after-market battery only held the charge for about 1/2 a day. Found this battery on Amazon and used it on vacation in the beginning of Feb. When traveling again at the beginning of March, realized that we never took the charger out of the suitcase - this battery hasn't needed a recharge yet! We haven't used it all day long so far, but we do use it at least a couple times a week. As good as the original!

Used it for half a year now, experienced no problems.
I also recommend this charger with it:

These products are genuin and have a feel of very high quality itesm, which they are!

With a name like Cannon you can't go wrong!
I bought this battery pack right before going to China and it didn't let me down. I put alot of demand on my camera, and thus the battery. It's a given that one has to charge the battery. I use rechargeable batteries for all my remotes, music players, etc. and yes, they don't last as long before needing to be recharged, but thus the name "rechargeable." I used the battery all day in China with taking pictures constantly. It does help to take battery out of the camera to give it a longer life.

Canon Camera Battery
I purchased 3 rechargeable batteries for my Canon Elph S110 for the price I would have paid for one elsewhare. The price was great, but unfortunately the batteries don't last long before they need to be recharged. I took them with me on a trip to Sweden thinking 3 batteries would be enough to last for 9 days, but after 5 days, all three went dead. That is not the fault of Amazon though. My old batteries didn't hold a charge well either. Canon needs to come up with a rechargeable battery that holds a charge longer. The price, however, was unbeatable.

Stick with Canon for your canon products
This battery pack hasn't let me down. I've recharged it many times, and each time it seems to hold its charge well. My camera is the digital Elph S500. I got the extra battery so I could always have one as a spare, ready to go without waiting for a single battery to recharge.

They're batteries.
We inherited our Canon Powershot S230 from relatives along with 3 battery packs. Over the course of a few months, I realized that I was having to recharge the batteries quite frequently and after only a handful of pictures taken. I tossed the old batteries and picked up two of these ones and they work beautifully. One battery lasts for at least three photo sessions now even when I take a few minutes of video. Now I run into problems with the CF memory running out before the battery goes! Good batteries.
It does exactly what it's supposed to! with the old battery we had, we had to charge the battery just before we wanted to use it and even then were unable to take more than a handful of photos before the camera died. But after replacing the battery we can just grab it and run knowing that it will work and work for a long time!

Works fine - 2 years and still going
My NB-1LH came with my S410 that I bought 2 years or so ago. It's lasted this long and still works a bit, which is why it got 4 stars. I'd give it three and a half for the capacity of the battery. It's never lasted a long time, but perhaps it's my own fault as I leave the LCD on almost all the time. When I first purchased the camera, I could get probably 100 pictures with flash and leaving the LCD on nearly continuously. Now after over 2 years of every other day use (at least, with 2 kids that love the camera!) I can only get perhaps 30 to 50 pictures before it starts giving the red low battery sign. Once that comes up, I'm lucky to get 2 more shots before the camera shuts itself off and gives the "Change the battery pack" sign.
So, I'll purchase a new one in hopes that I can get another 2 years out of it! The camera itself has been great but that's another review.
To the previous reviewer who questioned where the batteries were made, my original one that shipped with the camera 2 years ago was made in china according to the label.

Canon OEM batteries now made in China?
I got one of these Canon NB-1LH batteries, expecting it to be Made in Japan. Surprisingly, it says it's Made In China. I thought Canon OEM batteries were all Made In Japan (like the battery that came with my S400 camera), but apparently that's not the case. Hopefully, the battery won't behave like many of the 3rd party NB-1LH batteries I've seen that are Made In China and don't hold their charge that well.

Canon Battery Review
The original battery that came with the camera (Canon S500) gave out after over 1 year of use. I ordered 2 of the OEM batteries through Amazon. They appeared to be the same as the original but they would not hold a charge over 24 hours. I returned them and Amazon sent me 2 replacements. I am having similar problems with these also. I must carry my charger with me at all times.

Canon Battery Pack
I am pleased with the battery and the way it holds a charge.
These batteries are the sole reason I will never buy another Canon camera. I love my camera, but these batteries are over-priced and have a short lifespan. I've been through four of these in the last couple of years, and part of the reason why is because they're Lithium Ion. For the longest life, Lithium Ion batteries need to be topped off as often as possible, and should never be allowed to discharge completely (every deep discharge cycle lowers the life of the battery considerably, and after 100 cycles, the average Li-Ion is at 75-85% of original capacity). So, generally speaking, Lithium Ion is a lousy choice for a camera. Who takes ten shots and then tops off the battery? NiCad is a FAR better choice for a camera, since NiCads SHOULD be completely discharged on a regular basis. I spent a few hundred dollars on the camera, and I'm well on my way to spending an equivalent amount on batteries. That's absurd. I bought another brand of camera recently that uses standard AA batteries, and I'm much happier with it. I use NiCads instead of the Li-Ions it came with, and they're working great. Proprietary batteries s*ck.

Great replacement battery
After four or five years my original batteries stopped holding a charge, and this is a great replacement. I like to have two on hand so I can charge one while I'm using the other.
The replacement battery works far beyond my expectation considering that I didn't expect much buying a replacment battery for my canon without being directly from the company. Highly recommende!

OEM: There is no alternative.
This is the one area in which I insist on buying an OEM battery. I always buy generic-- film, breakfast cereal, even printer cartridges. But with batteries, I found the hard way that you can't do that. I bought two off eBay, thinking it was cost-effective(you can get approximately 12 generic batteries for the price of a Canon one), but they lost their charge entirely after a month or two.
I have two of these batteries. They still hold a pretty good charge after 10 months of use. Recently, for example, I was at an event where I took nearly 100 flash photos and perhaps five minutes of video(I have an S500... video drains the battery), and the battery still had power left enough to take more photos the next day-- and upload data to my computer.
It's a pity they're so expensive.

DO NOT BUY GENERIC, NO MATTER THE PRICE
I've read the other reviews on this item and these people know what they are talking about. DO NOT BUY GENERIC. ONLY BUY CANON BRAND BATTERIES FOR YOUR CANON CAMERA. I've tried the cheapie $5 generic battery, it didn't even last a week. I have also paid about $35 for a digipower which is sold at some stores in place of Canon at about the same price as Canon so you would think you are getting a good product for your money. WRONG! I have had my Canon battery for almost 4 years, and my friend has had one for 2 years, they both work as well as when we first purchased them. The hold a charge for a long time. Just beware when you're looking to save a buck, you'll regret it, I sure did. Having a back-up battery is a fantastic idea, but only if it actually works!
make sure it has canon on it or it will not take a charge as good or last as long.

Exceptionally Long Life!!
Like many others, I am constantly worried about having enough battery power while on vacation, and thus, I am always tempted to purchase an extra battery. When it comes to batteries, this one is exception. Extremely light weight and incredibly durable. I took over 200 photos in one day, utilizing my S500's built-in flash indiscriminately. At the end of the day, I still had power left over to spare. But before you decide to purchase an extra battery, you should experiment with the NB-1LH battery that comes with the camera. Purchasing an extra battery may be overkill for your needs. However, if you want an extra battery as a backup, this one is the only way to go. You won't regret it, whereas with an off-brand, you're rolling the dice.

You get what you paid for.
Bought a generic battery (less than $15, with S/H) at the same time with the S400 about a year ago. Use both batteries (50-50%, all the time). Now the Canon one is still working like new, the generic one can't hold any charge.
Guess the old saying is right :)
