Celtic Thunder: The Show

One of the things I noticed about the show (San Diego) is the way
the singers sing their song - then turn and walk away off the stage -
they do not bow, they do not bask in glory, they do not try and steal the limelight - just a gorgeous peformance, they turn and walk away.
I LOVED THAT!!! so classy.

I HAVE SEEN THE SHOW IN BOSTON TWICE, AND WOULD, IF I HAD THE $$, SEE IT AGAIN AND AGAIN. ALL THE GUYS SING AND PORTRAY THEIR INDIVIDUAL PERSONALITIES. IT'S DEFINITELY A "MUST SEE". IT'S HARD TO EXPLAIN TO OTHERS HOW GREAT THE SHOW, BECAUSE IT IS SO DIFFERENT FROM ANYTHING I'VE EVER ENJOYED. THEY ARE SO LUCKY TO HAVE FOUND THE GIFT OF MUSICAL TALENT, AND, DID I MENTION, THEY'RE EVEN MORE ADORABLE IN PERSON. GET A TICKET FOR THEIR NEXT TOUR, AND IF YOU'RE LUCKY, DAMIAN WILL STILL BE SINGING "PUPPY LOVE". HE IS TRULY TO DIE FOR!!!

Celtic Thunder is a very uplifting group. Fun to watch. Very talented group of singers. Now days this is hard to find in a group of singers.

The original filming in Dublin, Ireland of this Celtic Thunder stage show includes thrilling music, a full orchestra, terrific staging, and 5 incredibly talented main singers. If you've caught any parts of this show via KOCE television, you'll LOVE this DVD. Beautifully filmed. I highly recommend it.

I can't rate the show here because we could not watch it because the DVD would not get past the FBI disclaimer. Our DVD player is not the problem as we watched DVD's all weekend with no problem. We sent back the first one and they sent a replacement, but it did the very same thing. The quality of the DVD is awful and even though we were looking forward to the show, we simply can't get it to play. Things were so much better on the old VHS format because you did not have a device that hangs up on the FBI disclaimer for 5 minutes before the player shuts it off.

This show is a sappy, over-the-top, pseudo-Irish show intended for American audiences, people who would not know Irish music if it bit them on the leg. It is basically a Broadway-style show, big production, what looks like lip-synched singing, etc.

Do NOT confuse this show with Irish music. This is Americanized semi-Irish stuff. If you like big, Broadway shows, you might like this. If you like Irish music, especially Irish traditional music, don't waste your time.

I watched this on TV, enjoyed it so much I had to have the DVD so I can watch it whenever I need my fix. I enjoy all of the music and highly recommend it.

One of the best vocal groups we've heard in years! They're individually and collectively just wonderful! Very refreshing to say the least!

I have been reading through some of the several thousand reviews people have taken the time to write. You'll notice the things people keep saying are how talented the vocalists are, how beautiful the music is and how they watch the DVD over and over again. Be aware, the DVD is nothing compared to the live show. It's the difference between watching TV and experiencing reality. Whatever you have to do, go see the show! Buy this DVD and the two CD's. I saw the group perform here in Florida last week. I have seen hundreds of groups perform but this was the best show I have seen. Take a back seat Pink Floyd, Fleetwood Mac, Elton John, Hank Jr. and everyone else. I truely feel sorry for anyone who has not seen this show.
I was concerned about what may have happened to Damian's voice between 14 and 16. I was delighted to find that his voice is still the same. I have been trying to think of a male vocalist with a more beautiful voice but without success.
Everyone I know who had seen the show will use one word to describe it - "Beautiful". Beautiful music and beautiful voices. All the great things said in all these reviews are 100% correct. I credit Phil Coulter for a good deal of the success as he helped select the group members and picked the tunes (he wrote most of them). I hope we will soon be treated to more CD's followed by a second tour. I can't imagine how they could top this one but I will be there. I will never pass up a chance to see these guys perform especially Damian. I was very disappointed that they were so poorly promoted by PBS.

I first heard this group (reluctantly) on PBS when my husband requested I watch. I couldn't stop watching! I love this CD and can't wait to see and hear them in person. I also bought the CD so I can listen to them in my car!

A friend who saw the show on PBS made a pledge to receive the CD/DVD pack.
She loaned the DVD to me. When I saw it I was sold. I needed a copy for my collection.

Saw this show on TV and it was awesome--usually don't go in for this type of music but these guys are phenomenal-if you close your eyes you can go back to the "highlands" with their music--can't wait for a new show to come out--hopefully with the songs from the 2nd CD.

This DVD is great, I have watched it over and over! Everyone of these guys is talented and entertaining. Anyone who likes this type of music at all will not be disappointed.

If you haven't seen this video of Celtic Thunder, but you have heard the first and second CD, then let me tell you have missed a great deal. The video is the highlight of your visual and audio experience with this group of 5. The way they move around the stage as they are singing the many different songs, adds to the enjoyment of a live show. You also get to see Phil Coulter directing the band/orchestra in a music only song. The pipers/drummers are amazing and the back up band is a group of very talented performers. Celtic Thunder is very easy on the eyes, so if you haven't seen this video, please consider purchasing it. You will highly enjoy it. I would recommend this 100%.

Good show and great voices. Only weak point is that they use to much famous songs with no roots in Ireland.

This is a superb production and I would highly recommend it. There is a great wealth of talent among the singers and musicians and the visual effects are superb

Now this is a Show worth watching! The music and the men of Ireland are wonder-full ~ can't wait to see more of and from, Celtic Thunder.

This is a fabulous show put on by engaging and high-quality singers and other musicians. There is considerable variety in the music, all delivered very well. The performers are straightforward (e.g., not a lot of unrelated dancing) but show personality too. The quality of the DVD is excellent, and it was delivered quickly. I have watched this several times, and enjoy it thoroughly. I recommend it highly.

This DVD is a great piece of entertainment from start to finish...even after the credits! Celtic Thunder is a group of amazing performers who will surely go far in their careers! This DVD is a 'must own'!

Wonderful. The dvd was everything I expected and more. If you are a Celtic Thunder fan, it is a must purchase item. I am extremely happy with my purchase. You will love the bonus features at the end. The interviews with the guys are great.

Too much fun! This isn't something I'd show the kiddies, but it was a ton of fun for adults. My word--these guys can sing! And how refreshing to see a show that relies on actual talent rather than the arrogance that everyone on earth wants to see performers who forgot to get dressed. The kid is cuter than a bump on a pickle! And the other guys won't have you wishing you were blind either. Highly recommended!

I bought 2 of these DVDs. I gave one as a gift and kept one for myself. I love this new group and enjoy watching them over and over again. Their music is amazing. I continue to share this music with several of my friends. I would buy more to use as gifts, if needed.

I thought music this good was no longer made, that I would have to try and find some older music to please.

If you're looking for the male version of Celtic Woman, look elsewhere! This is more like an Irish pop group than anything else. They sing a few "Celtic" songs (Ireland's Call, Homeland, The Mountains of Mourne, Come by the Hills), which are admittedly very good, but the rest is a plug for composer Phil Coulter's "original work," which is rather poor. Overall I was very disappointed.

I love this DVD. I play it almost every day. Celtic Thunder is the greatest group to hit the stands in a long time. I enjoy ever performer, every song and hope they come out with a new DVD soon.

This new group of singers are so awesome. I cannot say enough wonderful things about them & their music. Everything from the orchestra, songs & the singers themselves are truly a fabulous gift.

WATCHED THIS SHOW ON LOCAL TV STATION (PBS). IT WAS WONDERFUL AND KNOWING MY HUSBAND LOVES IRISH MUSIC, I BOUGHT THE CD FOR HIM AS A CHRISTMAS PRESENT. HE DID NOT SEE THE SHOW AND I KNOW HE WILL BE THRILLED ON CHRISTMAS DAY WHEN HE RECIEVES IT.

Celtic Thunder: The Show This is absolutely the best DVD I have ever purchsed. I try to play it at least 4 or 5 times/week, even if I can just hear the music. I have never heard such talented singers in one show. I would love to see their show live.

I loved this group from the first I saw & heard them. They cover all styles of music. It was so cute to hear the younger do "Puppy Love". But I loved each one for there part and the songs that was theres to sing. They stole my heart. They are my "new kids on the block" for now. I can listen to them all the time , but I love to watch them also.

This is a GREAT dvd and an awesome show! these guys can really belt it out especially the youngest who is only 14

I truly have never enjoyed a DVD as much as this one. I play it once a day and it never gets old.

My only disappointment is that it is not in closed captioning. It gave no way to ask before ordering and now I have this wonderful music and don't have a clue to the words they are saying. It seems strange tho, that I purchased Celtic Woman and Christmas Celebration (by Celtic Woman) and the both are in closed captioning. My hearing loss is such that I can hear music (thank GOd) and I hear words but cannot understand them. I do so enjoy their music tho. They have a wonderful God given talent.

I love watching them perform and they're very talented. I bought the DVD to watch them repeatedly and would've given 5 stars in this review but I do have a major complaint: the show's not subtitled/closed-captioned for the deaf or hearing impaired (PBS airs shows with closed-captioning but doesn't include it on their videos/DVDs like the law demands). You're better off recording if you want the closed-captioning...

These guys are just great. I highly suggest if you want an hour or so of pure great entertainment: buy this. I can't wait until their US tour begins. I will certainly be there!

This was my 47th birthday present to myself. I was so moved by most of the well composed pop music on this album. I dont think it was particularly celtic in the traditional sense but I did cherish my Scottish heritage while watching it and decided from now on I wont mind when people listening to me sing, assume I am Irish. The highlight of this concert was hearing the surfer guy sing "I Want to Know What Love Is". I think its the clearest best version of the song ever presented and made me appreciate the tune/lyric as a classic. I couldn't figure out why the youngest singer's songs were so obviously dubbed. Was he in poor voice the day of the taping? The oldest of the group sings some very touching songs and its easy to see how his folk music background helped. I can't afford the concert when you come to Boston in the months ahead guys, but your music really moved me. Keep up the good work and I will keep buying the dvds I promise. Also, I enjoyed the interaction with the beautiful talented onstage women (dancer/musician) in the show...my guess is you did too.

The DVD has a wider selection than the CD, but the quality is still there. I saw the show before buying the CD, but still like the audio without the visual. Keith is my favorite artist and I'm glad they decided to put many of his songs on the CD. He sings others on the DVD. I would have liked having 'I Want To Know What Love Is' on the CD, but I'll live! Everyone has their favorites and it is good there is so much variety of vocal timbres presented. If you like the 'ten tenors', buy this for a more versatile listening experience!

Like the rest, I caught this on PBS during pledge night, at about the middle of the show. Wham-O!! Very cool stuff. The more I listened, the more I was captivated. The show was dynamic with some great arrangements (i.e. "Ireland's Call" and "Caledonia." Damian McGinty is not only an excellent vocalist, he has tremendous stage presence for someone his age. I'll keep tabs on that voice, it has all the potential for an upward climb. I especially loved it when they sang together a capella. Ryan, though his voice seems to carry a lot of air in it, he hits the notes and produces solid harmonies. Wish I had that ear! George is probably my favorite. The depth of his voice, his phrasing, is very compelling. I'm keeping an eye and a pair of ears on this group. Phil Coulter could be considered the Celtic Simon Cowell (egad!), but despite an opposite way to find his singers, he seemed to be casting for musical theatre. Either way, it's working for me. Ooh rah!

I saw this group on PBS tv and loved it. They are 5 soloists, but sing together in amazing fashion. I highly recommend this to anyone.

this is an wonderful extension of the original PBS show. I bought this for my daughter and she has watched it daily! I was amazed at the voice of the youngest of the group who appears to be only 12 or 13!If you enjoy the male tenor voices of Ireland you will definitely enjoy this.

I happened to view a part of their show on television one night and thought these men (and one young boy) were exceptionally wonderful! So I bought the DVD and have enjoyed it over and over. I think all of them are wonderful, especially that young man who still has braces on his teeth!

Caught this show on PBS the first time and loved the music and the presentation. Burned a DVD of the show the next time it was on. Don't usually watch PBS, didn't want to spend 9 million dollars for the DVD to support my local PBS channel, which I think I mentioned that I don't watch. Ordered the CD for the car, and the DVD for home theater so I don't have to listen to liberals pleading for money. These boys all have such great voices and the music is so powerful. Makes you want to be Irish! Oh, wait, I am! Highly recommended for anyone who enjoys real music.

I've watched this DVD a DOZEN times. I never do this!!! I've sent it to 4 family members. As soon as they watched it, they were amazed at the talent of these five singers!!!

Excellent DVD; musicians are awesome, Phil Coulter has done a wonderful job in creating a group that recognizes individual talents but blends them beautifully. Of course Ryan Kelly is a personal favorite - talented as he is handsome. I can't wait for the next CD to come out -

When I first saw these five guys on PBS it was love at first sight! The production is so beautifully crafted and the variety of traditional, folk and contemporary music is wonderful, and yet it all blends together. I can listen to Celtic Thunder again and again, and watch the DVD over and over and never tire of hearing these gorgeous and talented Celtic men! I'm embarassed to say I didn't know who Phil Coulter was until I saw the DVD and now I admire him so much for his beautiful and sensitive lyrics and the soul soaring music he's created for Ryan, Keith, Damien, George and Paul. I would recommend the CD and the DVD to anyone with a heart for Ireland and Scotland...or who just loves to see handsome heartthrob men singing their hearts out. I can't wait to see them live in December in Everett Washington!

I watched Celtic Thunder on the PBS channel at least 5 times and when they didn't show it anymore I knew I had to get a DVD of it so I could
watch it all the time and believe me - I do watch it all the time. I just don't seem to tire of it. The only thing I wish I could have had included with the DVD were the words to the songs. I LOVE IT!!!!

Phil Coulter famed Irish writer/musician/producer has taken five expremely talented male vocalists from Ireland & Scotland and created a spellbinding show that is entertaining to all ages. Some of the songs were written by Phil, specifically for the men in the show, complimenting their individuality. To see these men perform the show for the first time in front of family & friends, is heartwarming; their emotions are palpable. The individual interviews at the end of the dvd not only add just the right personal touch, they make the viewer feel a part of the show. You'll want to see it again and again.

Great singers. All have a distingtive style. Especially like Diaman. He has a very good voice for a young man.

Celtic Thunder is the best thing to come along in years! - make that decades! These 5 guys are incredibly talented. Each one is a solo performer in his own right, and as an ensemble they blend together with incredible panache.

The performance is an eclectic mix - Celtic music, old and new, and some mainstream "standards", all performed with a presence that you can't ignore. They're not going through the motions, there's somebody home here doing songs they believe in and are involved in. While it's almost tempting to say that the Celtic music is what they really excel in, it wouldn't be fair to discount the standards. You may recognize the words, but I swear it's like you've never heard the song before. Warning: they'll probably spoil you for any other version.

There is truly something here for everyone. The variety just serves to make you appreciate their talents and versatility even more. They'll make you laugh and smile as they do some very joyful and inspiring tunes; then they'll turn around and tear your heart out and hand it to you.

This is no spoiled boy band clone. What may strike you most is that they're genuine and authentic men and not afraid to let that show through.

While I love and admire every darned one of them, Keith Harkin is a gift, he's just exquisite.

Celtic Thunder "the show" and the c.d. are absolutely wonderful. If you like Irish music this is a total must see. I can guarantee you will watch it over and over again and you will fall in love with each of the 5 performers. The music is fantastic, the entertainers are lively and fun, the entire experience is very uplifting. I have now purchased tickets to see the group live when they are in our area. Please dont hesitate or think twice about purchasing the dvd, you will not be disappointed; in fact; you will want to share it with all of your friends.
