Great budget ear phones
I bought these ear phones for working out for two simple reasons: They are cheap. They have the rubber, sound-isolation tips. While the sound quality of these ear phones is not as good as JBuds (I own the J2's), they are still much better than the standard ipod earbuds. They are also quite comfortable, and fit in my ears perfectly. For the price you really cannot go wrong. If you are not looking for exceptional quality (which I assume is true if you are considering $5 headphones), and you just want cheap, reliable, comfortable earphones that effectively muffle outside noise, these are for you.
sound quality is OK. It does the job but is not good at cancelling out noises. However for the price, you can't beat it. I use it as a temporary replacement until i can upgrade.
Never have I been so surprised by an item that cost so little and yet gave so much. The audio is amazing, also the isolation of outside sounds. You have to really try to hear past them if need to. Wide range of clear sound, no distortion. Highly recomend them. I bought these to use with my Kindel, but am now using them with my lap top to watch/listen to movies and music.

They are $5, people....
So I am a music fan. I listen to a lot of music with both high-end and low-end equipment. I am not a snob. I will tell you for $5, these are great. They are comfortable and durable (they can be found at the bottom of my bag on most days).
I understand they are not perfect, but THEY ARE $5 HEADPHONES, people. FIVE DOLLARS! Just as much as a designer cup of coffee. Give them a break.
I like them! They are my backup pair for when I forget my good ones at home....I was especially surprised by the comfort. Very comfortable for the cost.

I bought several. These are very High-Quality
These are high quality, durable headphones being sold at a steal!
I've tried other headphones before, but these take the cake for the price.
Equivalent if not better than Sony Head buds I've tried.
They isolate a decent amount of sound to other people, but mainly to isolate ambiance around you perfectly.
I'm impressed with the bass quality.
I'm using several of them as audio sends back to players (musicians) in my mini studio.
They're worth the price.

Comparing Five Low-Cost Earbuds
As a regular I-Pod user, I've never been that unhappy with the standard Apple I-Pod earbuds -- they don't sit terribly well in the ear, but I find the sound and design to be adequate. I've wondered if there is a low-cost alternative, and my wife doesn't like them because they are too big and uncomfortable.
Here is a review of five low-priced alternatives bought on Amazon in March 2010. The story in a nutshell -- all the $8-$10 earbuds are a slight step up from the Apple buds, all the $6 earbuds are a big step down.
JBuds Hi-Fi Noise-Reducing Ear Buds (Black) (paid ten dollars) (Four stars)
Positives: Good sound, decent comfort, long cord
Negatives: Too long cord, no "slider"
A very solid sound -- much like the Apple buds. These are a great low-cost in-ear alternative to the Apple buds. The sound balance is similar to the Apple's, but a bit crisper and clearer, perhaps due more to the in-ear design than the actual technology. The JBuds ship with three sizes of silicone ear-inserts for different size ears, though I personally find the fit to be awkward and a bit slippery (see SkullCandy review below). A 54" cord was the longest of the ones I tested, and arguably too long. Also, there is no "slider" on the cord to hold the buds together when you are storing them (A very nice feature of the standard Apple buds and others).
Skullcandy INK'D Earbuds (White) (paid ten dollars) (Four stars)
Positives: Great bass, very comfortable, long cord
Negatives: Too much bass, line-rustle noise in cord
How it is possible to get so much bass into a tiny and cheap earbud I cannot imagine, but there it is. Really impressive, but it's actually a bit too much bass -- the balance is off. If you are listening to bass heavy music, it's overwhelming -- I had to try to adjust the EQ on the I-Pod to bring it down, and even then a bit too heavy. The sound is not mushy or distorted, just like the equalizer is shifted too much. These in-ears come with three sizes of silicone ear-inserts for different size ears, and I find the fit to be great. A long 52" cord, with a "slider" to hold the buds together when storing. A BIG concern -- there's a fair amount of cord-noise that rides in the line -- if the cord is brushing against your shirt or jacket when moving, you hear the rustling right in your ear. I've had worse cases of this in the past, but it is very noticeable in these, and makes them less ideal for walking or moving situations. (Is this a problem with all in-ear buds that have a snug fit?)
Sony MDR-E818LP Fontopia Ear-Bud Headphones with Acoustic Twin Turbo Circuit (paid eight dollars) (Three stars)
Positives: Good sound
Negatives: Even bigger than Apple buds, poor packaging, short cord
To my ear, the Sony's had the best sound of the five low-cost buds I tried -- a solid step up from the Apple buds, for people who don't like the in-ear style of bud. But a note of caution -- these are slightly *bigger* than Apple earbuds, even without the foam covering. In my ear, the foam cover makes them comfortable enough, but they are rather large. At the same time, the Sony Fontopia has an unusually short 40" cord (even shorter than the Apple 45" that bothers some people), but it's plenty long for typical uses (walking, etc.). There is no "slider" to hold the earbuds together when storing, which is a feature I like on the Apple buds. I have one big beef with these though -- the earbuds have a thin foam cover over the speaker that helps it hold in your ear more firmly and comfortably. I have no problem with that, but you have to put the foam pads on yourself, and it's very difficult. I ended up tearing one of them before I could even try them out. It's very frustrating to buy a new product that breaks before you can even use it. These deserve four start on performance, but gotta ding them on the design and packaging.
Panasonic RP-HV21Portable EarDrops Earbud Headphones (Black) (paid six-dollars) (one star)
Positives: None
Negatives: Huge earbud, terrible sound
I liked the look of these when I got them out of the package, but they are a bigger and worse alternative to the standard Apple earbuds. A very "tinny" and shallow sound compared with others at the same price point. They're too big for comfort in my ear, though that's always a personal consideration -- these Panasonics are larger than the Apple buds and equally hard surface. These Panasonics are about the same size as the Sony MDR-E818LP Fontopia earbuds, but those have a foam pad that helps hold them in and provide a little comfort. the "Clip" feature on these (the two buds can clip together, or clip to clothing or cords when not in use) is nice, but doesn't override all the performance downsides. I'm tossing them -- way worse than the basic Apple buds.
Coby CVE92 Isolation Stereo Earphones (paid six dollars) (one-star)
Positives: None
Negatives: terrible sound
These are cheap and I like the packaging (just in a plastic ziplock, not clamshells and fluff), but the performance is simply substandard for the pricerange, These Coby's have a very muffled sound, and don't come with different size silicone ear inserts (most people know these really aren't one-size-fits-all). I'm tossing them -- way worse than the basic Apple buds.
I did not purchase these. I ordered them with Pepsi Stuff points. They did not last very long and fell apart after a couple of weeks.
The earphones are light and comfortable when I use them, which isn't often as there are few books with audio.Coby CVE92 Isolation Stereo Earphones

Descent Earphones
The Coby CVE92 is an attractive pair of earphones. Its white color will marry harmoniously with devices that are designed in keeping with iPod's classic all-white color motif.
Sound Production
----------------
The sound production is definitely not mediocre. In fact, it is surprisingly good for a pair of earphones in this price range. Most earphones in this price range sound a little tinny - not the CVE92 - it actually produces a pretty descent sound.
The audiophile will probably not be terribly impressed however - the frequency response of the Coby CVE92 is somewhat lacking for producing deeper bass sounds. Although it is not listed, I'd venture to guess it probably has a range of 20 Hz (bass response) to 20,000 Hz (treble response) - the frequency response of most of the run-of-the-mill earphones.
Higher quality headphone have better bass response of 12 Hz or less and treble response of 22,000 Hz or more.
Sound-Isolation
----------------
Note that these are sound-isolating, not noise-canceling earphones. Noise-canceling earphones work a lot better at sound-isolation. However these cost *considerably* more. The Coby isolates sound by using its soft ear buds - they fit very snugly in your ears to block out external noise.
Comfort
-------
These earphones are extremely comfortable. The ear buds should readily conform to most ears to provide a snug and comfortable fit.
---
The Coby CVE92 is a descent pair of earphones that most music lovers will be pleased with. The noise-isolating feature works reasonably well to block out most of the competing ambient noise. Unless you're a die-hard audiophile, I think you'll be quite happy with these.

Don't buy these, you get what you pay for
Out of the box one side of these buds didn't work. I spent a whole workout listening to music only in my left ear then promptly sent them back to amazon and bought jbuds, which have been great.
I wear these while I'm at the gym so for watching TV and listening to music while I run they're great. I'm sure there are headphone out there with better sound, but definitely not for (...). These fit comfortably in my ears, unlike the standard ipod headphones and I don't have to worry about them falling out. Would buy again, for sure. :)

Good & cheap, but...
Reg ear buds don't fit my ears, so i bought these. They fit great. The problem is the cord is toooooo long. I am 5'1". WIth the headphones in my ears, the cord reaches to the floor. I don't keep my ipod in my shoe and am guessing most people don't; so the cord could/should be shorter. I purchased them in May/09 and they no longer work due to all the excess cord being shoved in my pocket. (good thing so cheap)

Excellent for Price
These headphones are amazing for their price. They should be sold for 20 bucks, and they would still be underpriced. The buds fit like gloves into the ears, and the sound isolation is amazing (my mom gets pissed haha). The buds barely fall off (one of them did once after 1 month of use). Generally a great earphone that I recommend to everyone.
Purchased these as a gift for my teenage son. After about 30 minutes, he refused to use them anymore. I tried using them and found them to be extremely uncomfortable. Save your money and purchase other earphones.

Good sound (but cheap) earphones for about five bucks. NICE.
I purchased this earphones three times. The first time I bought it, I loved it so much... for about five bucks you get comfortable, simple, good sound quality earphones. But what it lacks is durability.... I guess it's the same for all in-ear earphones, but it breaks really easily.... and especially because I tend to wrap it on my iPod a lot and shove it into my school bag.
I would buy it again because it's such a great pair of earphones, but I feel like I'm tossing 5bucks every time I buy it so.... I think I'll invest in a little bit more pricey pair as soon as I get a chance. Shipping was quick and order was easy though, so I would buy from them again.

THEY WORK FOR ME
THEY FIT GOOD AND DO NOT ALLOW ANY OTHE SOUND EXCEPT YOUR MUSIC TO BE HEARD. GREAT FOR THE PRICE.
I needed headphones that were cheap, but didn't want to sacrifice on sound quality. These are ridiculously inexpensive, and the sound and sound isolation quality is truly exceptional for the price paid. The ear pads aren't as "cushiony" as I'd like, but they are comfortable enough, and they are small so they actually stay in my ears, as opposed to the earphones that ship standard with Apple products. I have only had these for about a month, so I hope they last a while - I sleep with them on every night, and so far, they have stood the test. Worth every cent!
I bought these on a lark because the ones that came with the unit did not fit worth crap and they were very inexpensive. These fit and feel comfortable and sound great! I love them and would highly recommend!

Great for your money
I have tried several earphones.. For me this one is the best considering the price.. I tried J-buds as other reviewer suggest.. J-buds is fine but one side of the speaker died just after 4 months.. It was stated from some reviewer.. I guess they are right and I should listen.. So, for those who want the earphones that was cheap and good in quality, go for this one. I'm totally satisfied! Even the isolation sound is better than J-bud. I definitely recommended this earphone.

Not Bad For the Price
These headphones are great for the price! Not perfect, the bass is good, and they're loud enough for me. I wouldn't recommend to anyone looking for extreme bass and loudness...these aren't close to professional muscian headphones by any measures, but definitely decent for any casual music lovers. I wear them while I work out and they stay in without any problems, which is what I was looking for.

Needed a pair of earphones that were comfortable as well as functional. Had no previous knowledge of Coby Isolation Earphones so took a chance and ordered them! My husband enjoys them and does not complain about discomfort and loves the "noise" free feature. Great sound. Comfortable.
These earphones are great for the price. Confortable and easy to wear. Sound quality is great and does a decent job of cancelling outside noises. Lots of people have to yell at me to get my attention when I have these on and not paying attention. When travelling though, they do occasionally slip out ears. Otherwise, great product!
I bought 3 for my family at christmas. My son's broke after 1 hour because the dog run into the wire pulling it apart. Both my wife and dauter said they are to big coulden't get them to stay in there ears.

Good for the Price, but not the best
I purchased these and the comporable ear buds to see which I would like best. I find that both fall out of my ears far to easily and while they don't hurt, I don't find them to be all that comfortable. The sounds quality is great. Listening to nature sounds and such for relaxation, it sounds like you are right there. As for blocking out other sounds, I found the ear buds to do a slightly better job, but both were good for work. Neither did the trick of blocking out sounds at night however, which is what I really hoped these would be good for. I can still hear dog by the bed and my spouse snoring or wheezing no matter how well I fit the head phones in my ears. If you are not looking to break the bank and want something to wear at a desk/ not involving a lot of movement, these are fantastic. Not sure if the more expensive models fit better, could be just the shape of my ears, but I don't think these work for walking, or to block out more obnotious sounds.

Best value Earphone that i could find
My brother practically eats earphones (seriously he break his at least once a month) so my solution? get some $5 Coby earphones.
I find the sound quality to be Fine, but I am not an audiophile so I don't really notice the difference; On durability I can say that while mine still work for almost a year, my brother keeps breaking his constantly (but this happens with any other one too) and my sister just broke hers (about a year too) but I will still find a very good deal that some $5 earphones will last a year.
Conclusion:
I'm at this moment buying some more.
I had another pair of Colby and the quality was average, but these are great. Very comfortable. I use them in the office to zone into a world and get work done. These do cancel about 85% of sound around you.
bought them for my 9yr old daughter. The hard plastic headphones would not stay in her ears. These sound as good as most others i've heard and they fit her ears well enough that they don't fall out. and after about a year....they still work.
Bought 4 sets. Usually my son goes through a set every 3 months. These have been lasting about 3 weeks before the wiring fails.
good earphones to have as a spare for the car or other places when you need to plug into Iphone to listen to music and kill time. for the price the quality is great!

Cheap, yes, but still not worth it
The sound quality isn't spectacular, even when sitting in a completely isolated sound-proof/wind-proof/other-elements-proof. If there's wind, all you will hear is wind. Whilst walking around, if the cord at all rubs against your clothing, all you will hear is the rubbing sound. They're pretty good at isolating noise as far as the actual earpieces go, but what's the point if all you hear is wind? I've had them probably around 2 months, and one of the earpieces broke as well... They're probably worth the $5 they cost, but if you are at all particular about the quality of the sound, invest in better head phones.

Good for the price
While these are very good for the price, don't expect excellent bass. The sound isolation itself isn't too stellar but it's about what you might expect from earbuds. Though the bass isn't great, the sound quality isn't bad, especially as laptop headphones or something else that doesn't need to push high quality sound. Even then, you might not mind them unless you're a connoisseur of sound. In short, yes they aren't top of the line, but they are excellent for the ~$5 I paid for them.

Big bang for your bucks
These are my first in-ear earphones; I don't know how they hold up to other earphones in its price range. I bought these to replace my HP earphones that came with my laptop.
Sound isolation is pretty decent. When I use them at work, it muffles the conversation from my coworkers. And when there's music playing at a low level, I can't hear them at all.
Bass is decent; don't expect anything spectacular from $6 earphones. Mid and high sounds rich at low to medium-high volume level. I haven't played it at max volume, but I'm assuming there will be slight distortion, and clarity will suffer.
Very good earphones for the price on Amazon. They've been holding up well for the past three months since I've had it

Good value for the money. But the get the JBuds Hi-Fi Noise-Reducing Ear Buds. Same price, better sound.

Awesome sound, especially for the money
I honestly didn't expect much from these headphones because they were very inexpensive. I kind of assumed they'd be okay for a month of so and be buying new ones but they are actually great headphones. I typically hate earbuds because you have to turn them up so loud that you do hearing damage or you can hear everything going on around you. these allow you to keep the volume at a safer level while still blocking outside noises.

Coby CVE92 Isolation Stereo Earphones
The earphones listening quality is okay but the ear bud cord is too short and you cannot adjust them. I don't like the cord being so close under my chin. I preferrably like the flat earbut pieces; they fit more comfortably in my ear and it dosen't feel like I have something stuck in my ear. This particular earphone keeps slipping out of my ear whenever I move.
I only use them with my kindle, and they work. They don't really isolate outside sound any better than other ear buds.

Don't last too long
This is my third pair and although I like the price and the sound of these earphones I can't just keep buying a new pair every 1-2 months. If it's not the earpiece that falls off, it might be the cable that breaks inside the plastic cover and you lose sound from one of the earphones.
They only lasted 1 month, then R earbud lost sound. I will buy a different kind. It's not even worth returning it to the manufacturer-$6.00 return shipping fee+your shipping to them.

Colby wipes out the competition (and saves the world economy)
Whether "poverty" is the operative word or, perhaps, "a temporary period of disruptive cash flow," the biggest advantage of being short of change (besides making it difficult to be short-changed) is being less inclined to burn money on frivolities that don't deserve it. Anyone who spends more than 20-30 for earphones may be in need of deeper examination than what an audiologist's otoscope is likely to yield. Notice that the earphones going for several hundred score about the same in consumer satisfaction as those going for five to ten bucks. Next, consider the likelihood of these little ear pieces eventually finding a way of misplacing themselves. Also, consider the possibility that the pricier phones rely as much on "production values"--the inclusion of a cute little case, 3 or more pairs of earbud covers (even though you can use only one pair at a time)--and it should be soon become even clearer that the inflated price of the costly earphones has more to do with perception than product, with image than substance, with personal status than with state-of-the-art design and performance of the equipment itself.
Not long ago I picked up a pair of the most lauded, applauded, celebrated earphones every reviewed at Cnet.com. They were billed as a "steal" at $80! Shame on me for reading the review and taking it seriously. I kept looking, bidding, and finally scored a pair of these miraculous inventions, used but reconditioned, and at a "giveaway" price of a mere $40. The phones lasted me less than ten minutes. Noticing that one of the pieces was half the loudness of the other one, I changed ear covers in an attempt to equalize the sounds coming from each side. That's all it took. A little tug on the cover was sufficient to snap the phone (Klipsch Eclipse) at the juncture where the phone is joined to a minuscule cylinder into which the sound is fed.
Feel sorry for me, but not at the expense of the citizens of Haiti. As you'll discover when you get the fit of these Colby cheapies established, they're full and very present in the mid-range, deep in the bass frequencies (among the best I've heard from any previous set of headphones), and crystalline and shimmering in the upper register (the Zildgians retain all of their colors, clearly and accurately reproducing each of the different hand drums and different-sized cymbals).
It's important to remember a couple of things with any pair of earphones. First, wrap the part of the wire connected to the phone once around each ear (that neutralizes the gravity that tends to drag the phones down and set them off course); 2nd, bring the cord up behind your head, not in front of it, for a snug, more secure fit (most earphones will "seem" too large to begin with--but not if you position them correctly); 3rd, wear them for a couple of days, enough to allow your ears time to adjust to the quality of the sound.
I've never met a Colby (or, for that matter, a J-Win product) that I'd give you two bits for, let alone five bucks--until now. These are at least as good as several pairs in the 50-100 range that I've auditioned or owned, and at this price you can afford to carry a couple of spares. (Just don't get carried away and start throwing money at Colby TV sets, CD players, etc. I'm still not entirely persuaded that the superior performance of these phones is attributable primarily to Colby's engineering rather than to the greater likelihood that producing a pair of decent-sounding earphones is not, contrary to some consumers' insistence on the superior design of their Ultimate Ears nine-hundred-dollar set, the rocket-age feat of engineering that it has been made out to be by manufacturers sensing obscene profit margins for selling all of these essentially identical (homogenous, even) earphones at the ludicrous profit margins they're capable of commanding.

Great little earphones
These earphones give great sound quality and isolate the outside noises. The one negative is the fit - they aren't as comfortable as others - but the quality outrates that one attribute.

Good value for the price.
These earphones are decent - not top-of-the-line by any means, but they are a good value for the money. If you're an audiophile these probably aren't for you, but if you're looking for a good pair of "everyday" earphones, these are a good choice.
Great earphones for the price. They are comfortable, decent sound quaility, and do reduce outside noise. It would be tough to get a better value for your dollar. Of course you could spend way more and get superb headphones, but I am rough on my headphones so they don't tend to last long. I have had these for a couple months and so far so good. My only con is that if the cord is allowed to sway loose it (while exercising) it creates some white noise when it hits against me. I solve that by tucking extra cord into my shirt.

Totally and utterly worth to buy
It is the best earphone for this price. Comfortable for the ears, and quality is close to perfect.
I go through a 1-2 pairs of this style earbuds a year (the wires always end up failing over time since I wear them all-day every day).
These are the worst. The rubber pieces that go in your ear are are stiffer then most of the other ones, and they don't stay in my ears well at all. Also, the cables are a little too stiff, they hold their shape too much so they bulge out and don't lay flat. They're just ok once I started using them with leftover rubber pieces from an older pair of headphones, but those ones keep falling off these headphones and I either lose them or they stay in my ear when I pull the headphone out.
I've had Koss The Plug (I had to modify the earplug part of these to be happy with them), Razer Moray (Looks exactly the same as Creative EP-630), and Skullcandy Smokin' Buds and Ink'd - I'd recommend any of them over these.

coby earphone review
earphones are comfortable and fit well. the sound is good and it somewhat isolates you from everything else. overall very good for the price.
At $11.11, these are by far the most expensive headphones I've ever purchased (yes, really). Arguably the stock iPod headphones are more expensive, base don Apple store retail prices, but I've never bought a pair of those separately. That said, I've never experienced such audio joy between two white buds! These fit in my ear better than any other earbuds I've had, isolate out office noise pretty well, and have a surprisingly rich bass sound.
While I'm not really an audiophile, I do consider myself a Serious Music Listener, and these headphones are everything I could ever ask for.
