long story short, it failed playing dvds/cds...save your money and buy other brand. ACTUAL WARRANTY is just 90 days, not 1 year.

I find this item worth the cost it has. Since the screen is small the visual is not very impressive. the sound quality and the volume is good in headphones but speakers are not enough audible (I hear other wise OK :)).
The item otherwise is handy, it was delivered in good packing, it has a remote which is handy too. the required headphone car charge etc are included in the box
the delivery was quicker and safe, and I found the items in the brand new shape. it was ready to use.

I am satisfied with the qualitly of the product and its good in range of its cost.. Go ahead with it.

The reviews below are exactly the same problems I experienced with my player: the sound quality goes out completely, so unless you plug in earphones or speaker there is no sound, it skips on disc play (even with new discs), freezes, or says "Wrong Disc." Usually it makes such a loud whirring noise I worry that the motor will bust! I'm surprised it still plays at all. Don't bother with this model.

We bought this DVD player for our kids to watch during long vehicle trips. When we first got it, I wasn't impressed. The resolution is horrible and it felt cheap in generally. However, as it was for the kids and would be used fairly infrequently, I really didn't care. After about 2 months though, we tried to turn it on, and we started to smell the smell of electronics burning. The DVD player simply wouldn't turn on or respond (we tried both the AC power and the car adapter). We called Coby's technical support line. After jumping through hoops, they said they would replace if we sent the item in to a warehouse in NYC along with an $18 money order to cover shipping. Like fools, we did it. That was 2 months ago and we haven't received a replacement or any correspondence to indicate that Coby received the defective unit (which we know that they did, thanks to a shipment confirmation). I know this device is cheap, but you get what you pay for sometimes. I'll never purchase another "Coby" device again.

UPDATE: We finally received the replacement unit. It took slightly over 2 months to receive the replacement, which is unacceptable in my book. I'll be looking elsewhere when/if I ever need another portable DVD player.

We bought this for a Christmas gift and have used it sporadically only for car trips less than a 100-150 mile radius. It slowly began losing volume with movies & we thought it might be a particular movie so we would switch to something else. It got so bad the kids could only use the earphones. The sound recently went out completely!! Even with earphones you can't hear the movie which is shame b/c the screen looks great. Since they only give you a 30 day return policy..this is money down the drain!!Take your chances if you dare.

I bought this player to keep my 3 yr. old daughter entertained while flying. I am impressed with the picture quality, sound and usability. It held a charge for 3+ hours. We have only had it a week, but came in very handy on our vacation. Based on my experience thus far, I would recommend this product.

I bought this item for my 8 year old Autistic grandson. It works great and he was able to get it figured out very quickly . He has had portable DVD players before, but broke the last one so needed a new one. I am glad that I bought this one for him. The price was reasonable and it is well worth it.

This worked well for one DVD viewing; after which, it promptly coughed or hiccuped its way through other viewings. Sometimes, we were able to get it to work by fast-forwarding through scenes, but most of the time, it simply quit and said, "Wrong disc."

After three months of trying to get a replacement, I have given up. They are rude and are very particular about your options. Finally, I was offered a voucher for another one of their crappy products. I declined. Save the money and buy from a different company.

The first one I received, the lid that covers the DVD was open and would not stay shut during normal handling. I received a replacement and the lid stays shut but still seems to pop open easily. Other than that it works fine. I haven't used its portability yet as it is being used as a DVD player in a kid's room. Hope it holds up.

This was a birthday gift for a 2 yr old granddaughter and she absolutely loves her "tiny tv". It has some quirks but overall a very good buy.

Love this little guy. I purchased it so I could watch some lectures by the pool and could not believe the excellence of the picture and audio. It's a great little machine, easy to use and certainly inexpensive. My only concern is I cannot seem to find info on how long the battery charge is good for. It seems to run out very quickly. Anyone have an answer for me? But all in all, worth purchasing.

I bought two of these players for my daughters. One quit working after 3 days, refusing to load the disk. The overall design is nice and the picture quality is good for the price range. The second player has been working well for two weeks now and hopefully will continue to do so. The three-star review is for the reliability factor, which, for us has been 50 %. Otherwise I would have given it a higher review. I do give Amazon a high rating for their great return policy.

This product is a great value, very user friendly. I purchased it as a gift so wasn't able to experience it firsthand, but the person I gave it to absolutely loves it.

This is a great product, with many valuable accessories. It was a birthday present for my 31 year old daughter, who doesn't do well on road trips! I would recommend this DVD player.

Completely Disappointed. Got my DVD players. Video Quality is good, features are good, Accessories Are good....Battery Life....God Awful. Did not even make it through one movie. Ferris Buellers day off....died just as cameron kicks the car out of the Garage.....Pathetic....

No problems, until my son broke the door. He was three then. So not meant for young children to use by them self. He figured out how to use all the buttons so we let him use it when ever.

not even 6months into usage, the display screen hinge is kindly of loose and screeching. Now, its not even reading discs it used to read a while ago. Have bought the insurance hoax. not sure if Iwould be able to use it.

I was initially skeptical about purchasing this item, but I have been really pleased with the delivery and the product. It has lived up to the description provided by Amazon. It is small, compact has good quality for both DVD and CD use.
I think it's well worth the price.

i bought my first coby portable dvd player 2 years ago for my toddler son. we travel quite a bit and the unit proved most helpful on long trips and such. we end up even using it at home!!!

i especially loved the fact that it came with a regular charger as well as a car charger... the two jacks for the headphones (one on each side of the player) are super convenient too...

based on IOWARULESOK? review, i was also able to convert the unit to a region-free player quite easily and we were able to play our library of european dvds.

just recently, my son dropped the unit and it does not always work properly anymore. so i ordered a new one right away... and coby updated the model since my original purchase. so now if you want to convert the player into a region-free player, here are the new steps to follow:

1. Open DVD Tray

2. Press the "Menu" button

3. Press 8888

4. Press the "Display" button

5. Region Code Number shows up. Use the numeric keypad to select your region code number (0 - 6).

6. Press the "Setup" button to exit.

We purchased this product for our family's anniversary travel after 10 days from the day because my 5 yr old son really needs something to entertain and be happier during our long, long flight time. The other attractive feature was that it was described as "region free" player and since we have tons of DVDs incl. some Japanese (region 2) and US (region 1) so I looked through all reviews and pros/cons as much as we could, and decided to buy this one, having also considered it was offered at reasonable price below $100.

So we ordered through Amazon. The product was delivered quickly (which may have been the only nice part about this product), went through instructions briefly and put a disk into the player w/ my son and myself sitting together with excitement. (5 seconds later).....The title of the DVD appeared on the screen. (5 secnds later)....the screen suddenly FREEZED. (we were like ?????)....we took the disk out and put it in again and all it said was "NO DISK".

We tried w/ other DVDs, both region 1 and 2, tried anything you could think of but no avail. It NEVER WORKED PROPERLY except for the first 10 seconds!! As you know, Amazon has good and quick return policy/refund action for consumers but after all we were not able to take the player to our travel.

In a nutshell, if you want to save your money and time wo/ spending your time to go over all reviews out there, I strongly suggest you NOT TO BUY this product. BTW, we purchased Phillips PET710 which is much better product, and we are all happy now.

Love it. It's all I expected it to be.

If you are looking for a low cost, solid-but-not-perfect DVD player for traveling with your kids, this is it. It will not last forever, but it will survive 1-2 years, which for the price is good enough for us. Has the standard features, but no particular bells and whistles. I will buy a Coby again after this one breaks down.

first of all the remote is allmost worthless because the sensor for the remote is almost under the player and you have to practicly put the remote right up to it for it to work and second of all the speakers are realy weird it makes everything sound like it's in a can other than that it's cool if you use other speakers or earphones

This is one of the worst products I've ever bought. It couldn't read most discs, the controls were unresponsive, it produced blocky and skippy playback, and the battery died quickly.

I bought it with the intention of using it infrequently so cheaper was better, but my unit was unusable. Returned it for the Sony, about twice the price, but far more than twice the quality. Cheap doesn't help if it doesn't work.

This was a gift for my husband. I am not as familiar with electronics as my husband so I went solely on user reviews. The users got it right. My husband is very delighted with its features and audio/video quality. It is very good quality for the price.

I was very happy with the DVD player. The battery held up on a flight from San Juan to Minneapolis, and the plane had no movies or music, so it was good to have. It also easily connected to TV's in the motel. I found the remote easy to use, but not necessary. Nice to use in bed; clear picture and decent sound, especially with headphones.

I was pleasantly surprised when I received my mini DVD player. We bought it for our 4 year old for a roadtrip....not only was it durable but it was very well worth the $ spent on it. We were also happy that it came w/ a set of headphones and all the adaptors we would need, to include the car adaptor. We will definately order from them again...

This is one of the very rare Chinese made electronics that truly delivers at the bargain basement price. The video quality is better than most major brands, with Sony's delivering the best. Audio quality is marginal like some but way better than most. The speaker outputs are actually loud enough to be heard in family restaurants (how many times you found your portable DVD player is unusable in public due to inadequate volume vs the background noises around you???)

The unit in general is relatively well built, light weight and kid-friendly DVD portable player loaded with almost everything you'd ever need. The remote is functional, not the most ergonomical (as usual).

Please do note the 7" is an 16:9 widescreen, so it's display area looks *smaller* than some 4:3 7" DVD player. However, with smaller screen, it helps to make battery playback time longer, which is IMHO one of the most critical reasons - if not the most critical - to use an portable DVD player.

Overall, a super-buy.

When your temporarily bereft of a TV, your DVD player dies out on you, or you're out in the boonies with nothing to do, Coby's portable CD is the best. Picture and volume are great. I'm glad I got it!

Bought this for my 6 year old to use for a 16 hour car trip--what a lifesaver! It's easy to use, picture is crisp and clear, sound is good and had no trouble with it at all. She even wants to watch movies on it at home instead of on the regular TV! Comes with headphones-- a nice plus. Having the remote was nice too-- was able to operate it from the front seat while she was in the back. Overall, good value for the money.

I got the unit brand new, open it... the remote is missing, AND the on off switch doesn't work. The thing stayed on till the battery died. Then I called Coby, they said that they would fix it, but I would have to pay the shipping and handling! What a Crock! spend the extra and get a better one!

The picture and sound quality are better than many at the higher price point. I did quite a bit of online review research, and this one was always the top rated in this price range.

It is a perfect buy for my 18 year old daughter. She LOVES it, and was amazed at it's quality.

Bought this for the kids to use in the back seat of the car on a 8 hour car trip. We had no problems with it. Later we used it on a transcontinental flight (DC to SFO) and the battery died after about 1 hr 30 min. The headset that comes with this unit was very uncomfortable and sound quality from the unit is not-so-hot. I would still buy this again. For the price, it does the job quite well.

This is one of the best portable dvd players I've ever bought and it came in two days from Discount Jungle. Discount Jungle is AWESOME!!! It plays great and is much louder than my previous portable dvd player. The best part about it is that it's voltage is 120-240V which means I don't need a voltage converter or transformer if I travel overseas. All I need is a plug converter so that it can fit into the foreign outlet and I plug it in and I'm ready to go. That's amazing for this price.

For those of you that are unfamiliar with volts and wattage - the U.S runs on 120 voltage while some foreign countries run on a higher voltage of 220-250V which means that you can't just get a plug converter and plug it in otherwise you'll end up like I did with a fried electric blanket.

My U.S. bought blanket was fried becuause it couldn't handle the high voltage in London. I learned the hard way. This device has dual voltage so you're good in either country and you can make it multi-regional to play dvds from various countries. I only paid $66 including tax. What a STEAL!! I bought it refurbished but it makes no difference to me. The play quality is great. I love it!!!

Thanks to the person who left the code to make it multi-regional. I'll post it again for anyone who wants to play DVDs from any country.

CODE TO MAKE DEVICE MULTI-REGIONAL

1. Pop in any DVD but don't play it. Keep the DVD player on the neutral V-zon blue screen. These steps are easier with the remote control. The buttons you will need to use are on your remote on the right hand side. There are a total of five buttons you will need including the set-up button.

2. press the set-up key button (A menu box should pop up)
3. Press the forward button which looks like this (>>)
4. Press the back button(<<)
5. Press the Next Chapter button (>>1)
6) Press the Previous Chapter button (1<<)
7. A number for your region should pop up now push the right arrow button next to the "ENTER" button on your remote control until you get the number 255 then press the "SETUP" button again until the setup menu disappears. Your device is now multi-regional and can play DVDs from any country. Remember your original setting just in case you want to switch it back to your country's region.

I bought this for my 8 yr old grandson for Christmas. He really loves it and his parents are very impressed with the ease of using this device. It is easy to charge and holds power for movies or playing games. I highly recommend this product.

I'm really happy with my purchase of this item. I bought it to send to my wife who is in the U.S. Army deployed to Iraq. I needed a DVD player that would be inexpensive, of decent quality and play burned DVDs. Clearly I am not going to send my original DVDs to the desert.

Hands down of of the best electronic products I have purchased in the last year.

We bought this dvd-player for my 3 year old son to keep him entertained for an 8 hour flight in spring of 2008. We got really good use out of it and even though my son handles it very rough it hasn't broken down yet. The dvd hangs once in a while but this is due to the rough handling. It takes car rides and shakes where well and the battery lasts for about 2 1/2 hours. This is not a big deal since it comes with a car adapter for longer rides. For an airplane ride I find that my kid only has an attention span of 1 hour of a movie anyway and then goes to sleep or can be entertained otherwise. We take this portable dvd player everywhere with us and if it finally breaks down we will probably buy the same brand again.

I purchased this as a Christmas present and unfortunately it was defective out of the box. The sound did not work properly it was noisy and varied with the movement of the player screen. I got this based on the good reviews, but will not get another one of this brand.

My Mother purchased this item as a Christmas gift for my son. He opened it early so he could use it on the long road trip to see my Husband's family for Christmas. The problem came when we found that the battery pack included in the package was the wrong size. It was 1/2 inch longer than the opening and obviously the wrong part. We contacted Coby to request that the proper part be sent to us. We were told by their calling center that we would have to pay to ship the battery pack to them and include a check to pay for the proper part to be shipped to us. I couldn't belive that I have to pay to receive the part that should've been included in the box to begin with. When I asked for the Corporate number I was told that they could not give that number out and that I "May" receive a call from them. Take my advice and do not do business with this company. I can not attest to the product as we have not been able to use it; however, this so called customer service is the worse I have ever seen.

I like this Coby portable DVD. The battery life is good compared to the portable DVD I owned before. If you fully charge it, you will have at least 3 hours of viewing time. It's really great for it's price. I actually bought two of this.

I've never owned a portable DVD player. We're going to N.Y. for Christmas, and I wanted a portable DVD player
so I could watch DVD's on the plane. I went on Amazon and did my research. I found this Coby portable
DVD player - TF-DVD7107. I read the reviews, and decided to purchase the player. I ordered it on monday
Dec 1, and received it on tuesday Dec 2. Thanks Amazon. When I received the player I charged the battery
for the required 4 hours and popped in a DVD (Bourne Supremecy). The picture is great, and the audio through the supplied ear phones, was also excellent. The 7 inch screen is perfect for my intended use. This is a fine product and I have no qualms about having
purchased it. Buying stuff through Amazon, is the best way to go. I buy just about everything from Amazon.

i bought it for my 5 yr old daughter,
she likes to watch her movies on the move,
its easy to use, it came with headphones and the cables an AC power cord,
the remote control is easy to in the dark with raised buttons for easy find,
overall great product.

Good product, worked right out of the box, instructions were great, never had a problem, bought it for a long trip to keep my daughter entertained with Dora the Explorer, it worked great, never skipped and read every dvd.

so far i've found this to be a nice player. i use it for my kids both at home on a 42" 1080p HDTV as well as for during trips in the car. video quality seems fine, even on my HDTV, while the screen seems to be sufficiently big for both my kids to watch it together in the car.

I must totally disagree with any of the positive reviews of this product. I almost never write reviews, but this product was so awful that I am compelled to write a review. I purchased the product having read the reviews and knowing the it was a cheapy with bad speakers. But somehow "cheapy with bad speakers" doesn't start to describe the terrible quality of this product. The DVD player only lasted for one week of light use before dying. Good riddance. Amazon is of course great about returns, but who wants go bother with returns? Do yourself a favor - DO NOT BUY.

After over two years this Coby player finally stopped working - it won't recognize the discs...but I have to say that about 2 years of frequent use and getting banged around in travel make me recommend this product.
