The idiots at work can't seem to screw it up, it's been dropped a few times, still works

I use this thing for training videos on the job.
Very easy to operate, simple on/off switch, volume control wheel on the side,

at first was a little worried that the screen might be too small to see the detail needed for safety/ training videos.
Not a problem. Very clear quality image, sound is crisp and clean.
Ejecting mechanism works great, no issues like there were with earlier portables of this type.

I usually have a DVD in the unit, open the cover up and it starts up automatically, when the next guy comes in, just open it up and start again.

Some of my guys are technoidiots, some of the time I am convinced they can't tie their shoes without their mommy's help, they don't need any help using this DVD player which is cool since I am not their mommy.

I am thinking of buying another one for home use,

This was a gift to my son who is in a State Mental Hospital. At first he was thrilled with the portable DVD player except that it would not play self recorded DVD's/ I thought that this model would play these when I bought it. My son's room mate has player just like his and it plays the self recorded DVD's. Now he tells me that the picture is freezing up when he watches a movie. Also, the button to open is not working right. I told him to contact the company as he has only had this player for a couple of months. I hope that this just a defected player and they will exchange it for a good one. I usually have a good experience with you and would hate to see this change.

I read most the other reviews before buying this product. When I got it I was pleased to see that all of the good reviews out weighed the bad ones. The Sound is just right, I cant imagine why one with normal hearing would need this little player to be any louder. I love the way it looks. It seems to play any CD or DVD that is a plus. I have not had it long but I'm hoping that with good care it will last.

i bought this just for when we are traveling. i was really impressed with the quality of the picture. it is light weight which is even better. the only problem i would say is that i wish the sound would go up higher.. the sound is ok if your watching alone or if your using headphones. i would definitely recommend this product to anyone . this dvd player even comes with a remote :0)

Terrific product for the money. No need to spend more. Fantastic audio and video, good solid feel, controls work like regular dvd players. Small tight quality product.

Ordered on a friday for my mom's birthday and it arrived in her mail box on monday (which was her birthday) every surprised and joyed at the express shipping and neat packaging. Very happy with product.

I bought this DVD player for our trip to Florida. I have a 2 and 4 year old. I dont know what I would have done on the 3 hour flight without it!! They LOVED it!! and so did I.
The picture and sound were beyond what I would have thought of such a small player. The most important feature that I LOVED was the 4 hour battery life! I was not worried that 1/2 way into the flight the player would die. I have heard that others have much shorter battery lifes. Everyone told me to look at that when buying one of these players.
It was also lighter than I imagined it to be. Which is great for travel with small kids..you have enough 'stuff' to hall around. :0) It fit really nicely into our carry on bag.
I love the portability of this product. We are back from our trip and the girls still us it in there bedrooms.
The is an excellent product for the price!! I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a portable DVD player.
I now look forward to our next trip to Florida!

DVD player has worked for 2 months so far. The 3 year old can operate it without any problems. The only complaint is it does not have normal audio and video outlets if you want to play it through the TV.

Good enough.

I gave this item to my grandson for Christmas who states that he is very pleased with the product.

,but I was not aware that there is another device that includes a USB connection.

I liked everything about this portable dvd player - except the battery life was short... not even three hours. I purchased it for the sole purpose of keeping my son entertained on long flights, so it didn't really work out for me. I ended up returning it and replacing it with something with a much longer battery life (which cost twice as much.)

NEEDED THIS TO WATCH VIDEOS WHILE I WAS SITTING AND GETTING CHEMO THERAPY. IT WORKED GREAT !

I bought this for my daughter for Christmas 2009. She loved it! It was a great buy easy to use and the screen has a great picture. I just hate how short the battery life is (not recommended for a trip without a car charger).

This is very handy, fairly good quality for the price, and easy to use from this technological illiterate point of view.My only complaint is that it is hard to hear, otherwise I give it thumbs up. Great for kids to use......Darn Yankee

I bought this for my fiancée and he loves it! Now I did review comments before purchasing this. I heard that the sound quality wasn't that good so I bought tweeter speakers as well, it really makes the difference.

Bought a Coby DVD player with Wireless. It was good the first three weeks and then...yeah you guessed it. So, it has a warranty right. Send it back with $18 for "processing", they send back the cheapest model they make, no wireless ..nothing. So, after one month I've paid over $130 for a $75 player. I called them three or four times...too bad they said. Think about it you buy the Corvette it breaks and they ask you for $5k and send you a Malibu. I still have a complaint filed with the state AG..good luck. So anyway I have the other
replacement for about a 2 months and it breaks, thing is the second one only has the remainder of the warranty on the first. There are good companies making DVD players. So $130, lots of aggravation for less than three months of use. Sony, LG, Phillips why would you waste your money with COBY.

I got this lil guy cause my husband always has the remote. It's great I love it! The price wasn't too bad & the only thing i find bad about it is the battery life but i have no problem keeping it plugged in when i use it. The battery life is good for 1-2 movies but i still feel it's well worth it... there's only so much wrestling a girl can take.

Nice little compact unit. Works well, nice picture and sound but a 2 hour battery life? This was annoying, especially on a flight where I could not charge the unit.

I bought one. It was completely DOA. I know that can happen with any electronics but this product seems to have insufficient factory screening. Make sure you test it sufficiently while you can still return it.

I order the product because I have one and gave it to my grand daughter years ago and she still is using it.
This one to my surprise does NOT HAVE CAR POWER CORD. It makes no sense at all a portable DVD player and does not have a car power cord but they added a remote control??????????????????? Go fetch...............

Good video quality but the sound isn't very loud and can be better. If speakers were better, I'd rate it a 5.

I purchased the portable DVD / Cd player, because many times as a Red Cross First Aid / CPR Instructor, I end up working with former certified individuals, who need a partial review. This dvd player allows me to tailor what is needed without have the burden of obtaining a lot of equipment.

The controls are basic and the image and sound are just fine. I am a firmer believer that you get what you pay for. This is a basic unit that works just fine. Both aspect ratio work. Although this is really minor, I would have appreciated a control to adjust the "tint".

Bought this in early September for a long drive to FL in December. I charged the unit immediately after I received it, but did not test it. Tried to use it for the first time last night (Nov 9) and it was dead/cold as a rock!! I tried several discs and also changed the power source and nothing worked.

Called the manufacturer on Monday morning. They agreed to cover it under warranty, but needed $10 in money order for return shipping and could not promise a return before Christmas. Called Amazon. Again, the superb customer service at Amazon stepped up to the plate and offered a refund and provided free return shipping.

If you need a reliable unit to entertain your children during travel, stay away from this one. I am just happy that I found out about the defect now instead of December.

Bought this for a gift for grandchild. Great!! Keeps her occupied in a smaller space. It's her tv and goes with her. Better control on what type movie/program she watches. Also, great for music. Total parental control.

I received this product through the mail soon after I ordered it. However, it worked only very briefly when charging the battery and then the red light went off, perhaps it was damaged during the shipping process. I was not able to use it at all. Had to return it. What a disappointed purchase!!!

Worked right out of the box, easy to use. lightweight. I watch it while riding a stationary bike. Needed something light and easy to balance. Good sound and picture. Great price.

So we've had this for about two months now and it is working very well so far! I did not have the same experiences that others mentioned with regard to the volume. It is plenty loud enough for anyone to hear, in my opinion! It is incredibly light, and while the screen size seemed smaller than I expected, it is a standard size and actually the video quality is VERY good. My 2-year-old loves holding it on her lap, and she can watch endless DORA while we have the game on the regular tv, etc. Also had no problems in the car. For the price, this is an amazing deal- you can't beat it. I never read the directions and have had no issues with operating it- very simple and straightforward. I can't speak to the bells-and-whistles aspect as I don't care about that- Just want to keep my baby entertained every once in a while!

Feels very cheap but I guess it's normal for the price.
Work as advertised. Like the fact that it reads DVD , cd, and mp3.
Also I appreciate the fact that it can be region unlocked. Good for watching those European movies on the cheap.

I bought this so my son could watch his cartoon DVDs at my moms since she doesn't own a DVD player, so I'm not too sure how great of a quality the picture is when watching a movie

This is a great dvd player I bought 2 for my kids to use in the van... the dvd player is very durable! My son has dropped it and it is still working great! The only thing I whish is it had more options on the player itself although the remote it comes with is very helpful!!

I got this player, with some trepidation, because it was so inexpensive. Obviously you get what you pay for. Whenever it was off for long, I would have to try starting it up several times before it would stop getting stuck just a little way into whatever disk I was playing. I'll admit it played OK once it got going finally, but who wants to spend several minutes turing the machine on and off and on, trying to get it to play.

I should also mention that it did not hold a charge long at all.

Of course I returned it.

Spend a little more money and get a decent player. With any luck Coby will take this thing off the market.

Nice one. light weight. Looked like it is smaller than 7" though it is 7" when I measured. Very clean display and good battery life.

Good product, reasonable price. Bought it for my son who likes to watch his dvd's in the car.

I purchased this dvd player for a long flight, seems ok but I decided to test it to see how long the batery life was and it only lasted about 1.5hrs. Most movies last 2 hrs so it really should be able to hold a 3 hr charge when new! I called Coby was told to run it all the way down and then charge it 4 hrs, I did but gave it an extra hour. Still with the second test run it lasted about 1.5 hrs. I called Coby back and asked for a repacement battery and was told it would take aprox 6 weeks. WHAT??? I think that is unexceptable! I will not buy COBY again. It's not my fault they have a poor product. IMO they should do what ever it takes make it right. I called Amazon and explained my problem and they said they would ship out a replacement the same day overnight express at no charge. Unfortunately I only have a 50% chance of it arriving in time, but if it doesn't they will give me a refund anyway. If it comes in time for my trip I will update this post to let everyone know how # 2 works! It seems like this product is very hit and miss! If you buy it make sure it is from someone you trust to back the product!

This product worked perfect the first time. However, the second time we went to use it the speakers would not work. If we had headphones plugged in it would still work but no headphones it did not work. Would not recommend to anyone.

My wife is on Dialysis and I was looking for something for her to pass the hours it takes, so I decided on getting a portable DVD player, after I gave it to her she thought it might be a waste of money but soon came to really enjoy it.
It's compact enough and light enough that we threw it in her kit bag along with a handful of DVD's and because it sits on her lap and she uses the ear buds she now has her own private showing of her chosen movies.
It honestly makes the hours pass much easier.
I'm so glad I chose to get this for her and so is she, it charges quite quickly and we have come to find that this little machine is very reliable.

This is a good choice for an 11 year old boy. It is a basic DVD player with no fancy extras.

Overall this is a great DVD Player. I only have two complains the battery life isn't to great (only about 3 hours) and it can not charge while you are watching a DVD. Other than that it gets the job done and is a great player.

We leave in less than a week for a 3,000 mile move, Florida to Washington state. This DVD player was for our 2 yr old because we didn't have one on the road trip down here.

We recieved the DVD player today. I thought it would be perfect because it's small and inexspensive, so if it works (that's the real question isn't it) and he ends up damamging it, as kids do, it won't be a MAJOR financial loss.

Well we popped in every movie we had and guess what NOTHING, all it said was BAD DISC. My opinion...BAD DVD PLAYER! I always read reviews before buy a product and this happened to another consumer as well. However, against my better judgement and because there were more positive reviews than negitive ones, I bought it anyway.

Obviously, it'd be great if you could even get it to work but don't be suprised if it doesn't. Thankfully Amazon has a WONDERFUL return policy but we're still out a DVD player so it's off to WALMART.

The price is right on this little unit. The picture is a little better than my previous two portable units. The sound is a little worse (if I could increase the volume just a little bit more it would be perfect). It's very lightweight. Like most cheap units, I expect to get 1-2 years of play out of this unit before I'll need to look for another.

Unusually, this unit comes with a little remote control. This remote gives you a lot more control over functions than most portable DVD players; you can for example skip directly to a specified point on the disk. And you can do things like set a chapter to endlessly looped play, or pick two points on the disk and have it endlessly loop between those two points. The "zoom" feature the remote gives you is great and is the reason why I gave this unit a fourth star rather than the three stars a cheap unit normally deserves.

Now the bad thing about that remote is that (1) it's small, and (2) there is no way of attaching the remote to or within the player so that I can already see that it is easy to misplace the remote. (I'm already considering using velcro to solve this problem).

The manual is not so great. It gets points for actually using the English language well, but loses lots of points on what it doesn't bother to tell you. You have to experiment a bit to discover undocumented features and functions. For example, the forward and reverse buttons work differently when you are currently zoomed in; they become instead pan right and pan left buttons.

And the manual won't tell you what you have to do to shut the unit down so that so that it restarts at the point on the disk where you left off. (If you just try stopping or pausing it reloads the disk and starts from the beginning). I've had success two ways: (1) pausing the picture and letting the unit go into (the undocumented) power saver mode. If you then turned the unit off and immediately back on, it seemed to remember where it left off. An even easier way: (2) use the remote to turn the unit off. If you then use the remote to turn it back on, it picks back up where it left off.

Here's another little undocumented feature. Like most units manufactured for multiple markets, there is a programming sequence you can use to change what region this player can play. Here's how to set up this player to play other region-codes using the remote:

1. Open DVD tray
2. Press the "Menu" button (ignore message "Not allowed at this moment")
3. Press 8888
4. Press the "Display" button
5. Region Code Number shows up. Use the numeric keypad to select your
region code number (0 - 6).
6. Press the Enter button.

I've verified my unit plays both region 1 and region 2 disks.

My husband and I purchased this item for our son and he really enjoys it.His face lit up and it made me so proud and happy that I could give him something that he would really like and appreciate.

This little DVD player works really well for my 2.5 year old on long car trips.
Pro: works fine, satisfactory picture even at an angle, no bulky external battery, plays for 4 hours on battery, it can read CDs that my previous, more expensive portable DVD player could not read for some reasons.
Cons: does not come with a plug for the car, does not have a menu button! (I turn it on/off to go back to menu or keep fast-forwarding), it's very slow to start. It doesn't work with the toddler headsets I have.
I am satisfied with it just because it works fine and was a great value, the previous more expensive model I had kept stopping and I had to hit it for it to restart every few minutes, I don't remember the brand/model, so as long as my toddler can watch her cartoons uninterrupted while I'm driving, I'm satisfied.

I bought this product for my son and works perfect! and it is multiregion, or at least zone 1 and 4 works.

The Coby works much better if you push the Power button on the side of the thing. Facing the front, it is one the right side toward the rear, my partner at work had to show it to me.

I've only used this acouple of times but so far it's working great. Good battery life, it's really light weight and the picture is good. I took it with on a plane ride and it was perfect.
