[+] 2.0 bad, very bad.
This was something that stopped working very quickly.Bad printing quality came on early. I took the ink cart out to check and then the ink cart wouldnt go back in. i bought another ink cart, still the same.except this time the ink cover fell off when i tried to press it in a little more tougher. Does it take a rocket scientist to figure this out? i wouldnt think so. mine was a waste of money.

[+] 10.0 Epson Picture Mate Deluxe
The Epson Picture Mate deluxe is a wonderful product for everyone. I use it at home, work, and everywhere I go with my camera or portable stick drive.

The viewing window makes it extremely wonderful because it allows the person to view, pick and edit your picture before printing.

I highly recommend to anyone who is a picture enthusiatist close to home or traveling. Especially to those who love to catch the moment.

[+] 10.0 GReat prints expensive ink
I believe Epson prints out the best 4x6 color prints in the market. I'm not too fond of third party inks but a few times I had to purchase them because of the high price of Epson inks.
I eventually went back to Epson because of quality concerns.
The Epson Picturemate 260(Dash) is a quality machine. I have no problems with the machine or with Epson whatsoever.
I've tried uploading to neighborhood stores, that offer one day printing, but the quality of Epson in my opinion cannot be beat.

[+] 8.0 Fun!
Great little photo printer.
You can fix & crop images from it's screen, make wallet sized photos or add Disney borders to your pictures!

The only con is the printer ink. If you go for more than a couple of weeks without using it, you have to do maintenance to get the colors right which can waste the photo paper.
Be sure to shake the ink cartridge before use.

[+] 8.0 DON'T GET RIPPED OFF!
This price is INSANE! I bought mine about 3 years ago and paid $90 brand new from a very reliable electronics chain store, and although it is a very good printer I would NEVER pay $400 for it. I don't know if its this price because they are not available in stores anymore, but even if they are not it's nowhere near worth $400. You can find something with just as much quality for ALOT less money. Please don't spend your hard earned money on something that is not worth the outrageous price!

This is the best product for the few non-computer literate digital photographers. This was the second PictureMate we have purchased. Epson PictureMate Deluxe Viewer Edition Photo Printer My husband, who is computer illiterate, loves his printer and can review, crop and print his pictures. He is very, very happy with it. It's portable and convenient. Would highly recommend it to anyone.

[+] 8.0 Works Well But Know This . . .
I am very excited about using this printer. It just arrived today and I printed one picture. The picture appears just as it should - bright, colorful, and looks like a quality print. This is much better than going to a store to have it printed.

NOTE: I used two SanDisk SD memory cards and only one of them worked. After calling Epson technical support for this printer, I was informed by a helpful, knowledgeable representative that this printer cannot recognize SD cards over the capacity of 2.4 GB. So this card: SanDisk SDSDPH-008G-A11 8GB/15MB Ultra II SD Plus Card didn't work in this machine. The other card I used was 2.0 GB.

Other than that, this machine works quite well, and I highly recommend it.

[+] 8.0 Dependable Printer with Great Picture Quality
I've had this printer for over a year now and it's still going strong. I previously owned an Epson Stylus Photo 780 that I had a lot of problems with (clogged heads and old drivers), but after reading some of the Amazon reviews about the PictureMate, I decided to take a chance and buy it for my husband.

It worked perfectly right out of the box, and have never had any problems with clogged heads. Sometimes I let it sit for almost a month before using it, and I keep it in a somewhat dusty/hairy environment, and it has still worked every time. The picture quality is great. I don't use Epson's software to print, I print through the Photoshop dialogue box on my computer, so I can't really comment on that function. I get more than 100 photos out of each printer cartridge, so I actually end up having extra cartridges rather than paper.

The one thing I don't like is that you have to buy the paper/ink cartridge together. Oftentimes, I only need one or the other and it ends up being a waste. In the future, I would love to see this printer be able to print 5x7s as well as the 4x6s it can print now.

[+] 4.0 Prints Beautifly But Still Not Worth It
I recieved this as a this for a gift in 05 and completely stopped using it by mid 2006. While the prints were perfect, and it was nice to be able to jazz people by the ability to print pics from their visit--same day, there were just too many cons. I HATE that I am forced to buy the ink in an expensive package, combined with 100 sheets of Epson picture paper. The print pack ink is guaranteed to last for ALL of the 100 paper's but it never lasted beyond 30 prints for me! I have built up quite the stockpile of left over printer photo paper now, so much for "guaranteed to last". I thought Epson would be the answer to my printer nightmares (I'm a former HP printer user), but they have proven to be the worst of all with their strictly proprietary products.

[+] 10.0 Big Performance for a Little Machine!
Epson PictureMate Personal Photo Printer
When the machine arrived I took one look at the size of the box (small)and figured I'd be trying to put the thing together for the next week! What a pleasant surprise...a completely ready-to-go machine , small in stature (about 5"x 10") but big in performance! I loved the simplicity (I am no techno wizard!)and easy to follow instructions! In less than 2 minutes I had printed a fantastic photo! It was a better print than the ones I have done at a local store. For the price, it is a great deal!

[+] 10.0 Great Printer!
This is a great printer! I didn't buy it here, in fact I saw it in a store that I guess was no longer going to carry it and nabbed the last one for $18!!! I think it's the best buy I have ever made!!! It's easy to use, has some neat frames that are fun for kids pics and makes spectacular photos. I used up the 20 pages of Epson photopaper that came with it and tried some glossy Kodak that I had on hand. It prints just as great on it too! The initial tonor cartridge is said to only print about 20 photos, but I've printed 30 so far and the quality is a good as the first one. Don't just replace the cartridge just because it says it will only print x number of photos...

I would (and have) recommend this printer to anyone. I have only used it by putting in my SD card from my camera so far. I would love to purchase a battery for it, too, but haven't yet.

Great printer at any price!!

[+] 6.0 Great Quality Prints, Poor Nozzle Performance
The Epson PictureMate can produce crisp, vivid, high quality photographs. As a glance these photos look like what you would expect from a professional photo lab. The printer is compact and very easy to use.

Unfortunately, this printer has serious recurring problems with the nozzles. Most non-Epson printers affix the nozzles to the ink cartridge so serious nozzle problems can be fixed by simply replacing the ink cartridge. Not so with most Epson printers including the PictureMate.

Clearing clogged nozzles can be done by using the printer's menu. You'll often run the utility several times to clear them out only to have them stop working again after printing a few photos. Of course, the nozzle cleaning utility attempts to force ink out through the nozzle in an effort to unclog them. This greatly reduces the amount of pictures you can expect to get from their 100-photo paper/ink packs. I have yet to print 50 out of the advertised 100 photos Epson says I can print from a single photo pack. You'll quickly accumulate paper you won't have enough ink to print on.

As a career IT professional, I am truly baffled at how Epson printer receive such high ratings from industry specialists when just about every Epson printer I've supported has this very exact same problem with no way to fix them aside from disassembling the printers and manually soaking the nozzles in special solutions. Check out another brand of printer entirely. You won't be sorry.

[+] 10.0 Awesome Printer
I've had this printer for over a year and it has been fantastic. I take it with me to family and other events where I take a number of pictures with my Nikon D50. I then print out the best pictures and give them to the people there. They are amazed at the quality and love getting them while at the event. It's not the fastest printer out there but it's a lot faster than going to a photo finisher or ordering online. At less than $0.30 a print it's a great deal. I highly recommend this printer.

Purchased this printer for a Christmas present a couple of days before Christmas. It was shipped immediately and I actually received it before Christmas which was a pleasent surprise. We didn't really expect much from this type of printer because of the size and low cost. Well, our expectations were blown away. This prints some awesome looking pictures. So good in fact that people who we give the prints to ask where we take them to get them done. On top of the great print quality this printer is nice and portable.

I bought two of these for x-mas and they are both out of their boxes and running. These printers are a great deal! The setup and instructions could not be easier and the pictures are high quality. No complaints at all. Buy the print pack too so you can just keep on printing and have fun. Fun for all ages from 10 years and up. Even my Mom loves it! If you are using a Cybershot, you will need the card adapter. It accepted the Olympus card without an adapter.

[+] 10.0 Great photo printer for a good price
Wow - I love this little printer! I had always been afraid to print my own at home worrying that the prints wouldn't last, but this epson takes care of that. It is compact, easy to use, and creates beautiful prints. Has lots of nice little features and I love the "paper pack" that includes paper and ink for 100 photos (only comes with a 20 print pack initially). Just a note - the USB cable is not provided, so if you want to use it with your computer remember to buy one or have one on hand.

[+] 10.0 Great Product. Highly Reccomend.
A friend of mine brought this printer to a "Breakfast with Santa" charity fundraiser. We used it to print off the (65)pictures of the kids with Santa. I was so impressed with the quality of the pictures and the speed of the printer, that I bought two- one for myself and one to give to my babysitter as a Christmas gift. It really is the best printer on the market right now.

[+] 10.0 Excellent Printer / Awesome Price
I ordered this Epson printer for my wife as she has been collecting digital photos of our family for several years and has never found the time to get them printed. We used this printer within 10 minutes of opening in and were thouroughly impressed. The print speed was great and the qualitiy is as good as what you order online or get at a local shop. I highly recommend this printer to anyone looking for quality prints at a reasonable price.

[+] 10.0 Buy this!
This printer is great. Read the instructions on the screen. They are similar to the kind of choices you have when using a digital camera. If you can deal with selections on your digital camera, you can do it here. I had no trouble printing borderless without any cropping to Postcard size as suggested elsewhere. You can print borders,no-borders, time&date if you want, select all, select some, select contiguous sets of pictures. Very versatile. It comes with only 20 sheets of paper, so buying the double paper/cartridege pack give you the most bang for your buck. The price is competitive with instant printing at drugstores, etc.. But you have the convenience of instant printing at home. If you usually only print a few pictures, I suggest you print one print per week to keep the print heads clear. A small price to pay for the convenience. If you usually don't print or want anything printed bigger than 4x6, then get this one. The prints are superb. Very clear and sharp This one got the best reviews for print quality in all the research I did before buying. If you do print borderless, you get some automatic cropping, so you get a little bit trimmed off the edges of the picture. The same thing would happen if you printed via Kodak or Snapfish, etc. because, the aspect ratio of your digital camera is different from the 4x6 aspect ratio of this paper.Meaning the actual size of your picture your camera takes is different from 4x6, height to width, so some cropping is necessary.

[+] 8.0 Convenient but expensive
The quality of the prints are excellent when everything is working correctly, but I've never gotten anywhere near 100 prints out of a cartridge. There are many wasted pictures, because of cartridge clogging which causes lines in the print. Performing the print head cleaning will correct this, but it uses too much ink. I would estimate that the utility cleaning costs the equivalent of 10 pictures. I've had to perform this 2 to 3 times per cartridge during the course of a year of printing pictures. I can't determine whether more frequent use would lessen the clogging problem. I usually use a cartrige pack a year.

[+] 10.0 BEST on the go printer!!
This is the best printer for on the go, it offers a viewing screen lots of choises to fix or crop your photos. Reasonable price on paper/ ink combo packs.I have long run out of paper before ink runs out. I usually have to have 2 packs of paper to each ink cartridge! I print most of my trial photos from this printer and then use my canon for larger format sizes. The color and clarity of the Epson picturemate deluxe is hard to beat for the price. My pictures are never sticky or tacky. A little slower than I would like but hey find something else to do while it works!! Instant Gradification is the result with this great little printer! Strong recommendation to buy!

[+] 6.0 Great pictures but wasted ink
The quality of pictures are terrific. The entire printing process is easy. However, compared to newer products, it is awfully slow. If you will not use this product on a regular basis (monthly), don't buy it. The printhead will clog and you will waste most of the ink in the cartridge cleaning it. I have lots of great 4x6 print paper left with no ink to print. I am sure there are better products on the market at a lower cost.

[+] 10.0 PictureMate
The Deluxe is simple to use and prints quality photographs. Because of the pigment ink, the prints truly are water and smudge proof. I've had mine for over a year and just bought one for my mother before all the deluxe versions are gone. Not interested in the newer models as are not the same quality. My grandmother also just bought this printer as she really likes mine. Oh, it's not a good idea to insert an ink cartridge if you are only going to print a few photos then not use the printer for a long time. The cartridges dry rather quickly. By the way, I also have an HP All-in-One, but I found it too complicated and expensive to print smaller photos as I wasted paper and kept messing up the dimensions. The PictureMate is so straightforward.

[+] 10.0 great product but is it worth the price?
: PictureMate Deluxe Viewer Edition takes the personal photo lab one step further, making it even easier to view, edit and print glossy 4" x 6" photos. It measure 6 by 10 by 6 inches (HWD), weighs 5.5 pounds, and has a handle. The Deluxe Viewer Edition also has a battery option. Setup is just as easy as with the original. Simply slide the single six-color ink cartridge--with cyan, yellow, magenta, black, red, and blue inks--into the slot in the back, load the photo paper, connect the power cord, and you're ready to print from a camera, external CD or ZIP drive, a USB memory key, or any type of memory card, although you'll need an adapter for miniSD cards and some Memory Stick formats. To print from your computer, the only additional steps are to connect by USB cable and run the automated install program. You can also add Epson's optional Bluetooth adapter for wireless printing.

It takes about 1 minute 19 seconds to 1:45 for each photo, whether printed from a computer, memory card, or camera.

It uses ink and paper, which means the photos for the Deluxe Viewer Edition are also waterproof and smear-proof even immediately after printing, and they cost only 29 cents per print. Now this is the kicker, it is cheaper to print them at Sam's Club for 12 cents per print, so I only purchased this because I can take it to scrap meets and print what I need when I need it. My other photos I send to Sam's Club or even Wal-Mart for nearly the same price of 12 cents. This is more of a convince thing for me. I purchased this mode for only 24.99 at Target where it normally retailed for 199.00 but it was on super clearance. This is what you have to weigh in on, convince for the price or what your pocket book can handle. It has come in handy for me at times and the prints come out nicely so it is a tossup for people on a budget!

I was looking for a small photo printer for my parents for Christmas. I did my research and read the reviews, and bought this printer for them. Then, I liked the printer so much that I bought one for myself. No need to say more except to say that I agree with most of the 5 start ratings comments I've read. I use it more than my large photo inkjet printer, simply because when I just want to quickly print great looking 4x6in. waterproof and fade-proof pictures, this printer is so easy and convenient to use.

[+] 10.0 Best Portable Photo Printer Ever Made!
The discontinued Epson PictureMate Deluxe Viewer Edition Photo Printer is by far the finest consumer portable photo printer ever made (as of the this writing Thursday, July 12, 2007). Using a complex pigment 6-ink system these amazing prints are long-lasting, fade, water, and smudge proof! The 4x6 prints come out perfectly borderless and with amazing color after pushing a couple of buttons. Compared to the HP line, the Epson prints are simply superior, especially dark colors and overall contrast. If you use a digital camera 3 megapixels or higher, these prints easily rival developed photographs from film. I do give the HP line a better score for overall build and engineering, with features such as a metal carrying handle. I give this product 5 stars due to its overall output quality. Sifting through a folder of 500 prints is slow, and the unit might not recognize your memory card if its too big. Working around the slow user interface, the unit quickly becomes a friendly and powerful printing tool. Epson's latest offerings (Snap) should be avoided since they are inferior to this discontinued product which can still be found at a great price. I recommend finding this older one and buying up the older ink kits and accessories such as the battery and carrying case. With any luck Epson will go back to where they once were, and release a version of this unit that can also print 5x7's.

I just purchased this little photo printer and have been very impressed with the quality of photo prints. One thing I did read in a couple of past reviews was how it was not able to read from 2gb SD cards. It absolutely will read 2gb SD cards as I use one in my Nikon D80 camera and it reads it with no problems. Maybe a little slow but it does read it just the same. In case it matters, I wanted to set the record straight.

This is a great little printer. It prints excellent quality photos and is easy to use. I really like the card reader attached-no computer needed. The photo paper and ink costs are in line with other photo printers (at around 26-27 cents per photo). I would have given it 5 stars, but the print time is a little slow, at around 90 seconds per photo.

[+] 8.0 descent quality
The quality of the pics are good using this printer. It's pretty basic and easy to use. If you are not technology friendly, this is a good place for you to start. The features are not hard to use.

[+] 8.0 Great Photo Printer
I bought this about a month ago after reading multiple reviews of it on the internet. It has turned out to be a fantastic buy. The pictures look just like what you would get developed at a photo place. It is easy to set up and use, and it seems relatively inexpensive to do the pictures. I gave it four stars because I have read reviews that say that the ink can become clogged if you don't use it for a while. I am letting it sit and see what happens. I will update my review and let you know.

[+] 10.0 Great little printer!
I already had one, I needed another. It's exactly what one needs on the road. Can even use it with a battery. Pop the CF card in the slot and start printing. Very useful and easy to use!

[+] 10.0 Perfect for scrapbooking!
I read the reviews and purchased this so I could print wallet-size pictures for 8-1/2 x 11 scrapbook pages. I previously used an HP printer but as I was cutting the pictures for my pages, I noticed my fingers were black from the ink! ugh! When I pulled this out of the box, I wasn't sure this lil' printer could handle a stay-at-home mom's scrapbook urges...and then I printed my first picture. I probably will not be sending off anymore for 4x6's unless I have a huge amount. The picture quality was unbelievable. I bought a Nikon D50 camera and probably really have no clue what I'm doing, but you can't tell it from the quality here. When I first opened the box, I printed over 75 wallet-sized pictures and everyone of them were incredible looking! One of the reviews warned that if the printer was not used over a certain amount of time that the ink would have to be cleaned out or something, but I haven't let this printer rest but for a few days yet - so we'll see down the road if that is an issue. Since I don't really know much about printing pictures, I haven't delved into the menu or the options for printing. I'm sure there are tons of things you can do. But if you are a mom wanting to have a blast taking pics of your kids and then sit down and immediately print them, this is a great option - even if you are clueless on high-tech items!

I also paid attention to the reviews that said to purchase the extra paper and ink set through amazon. I don't know how many more pictures will come out of this first ink cartridge, but I have printed over 75 pictures and it hasn't stopped yet. Love this product!

[+] 10.0 Great Little Printer
This is replacing a Little HP 230 that would not feed anymore. It was a real worthwild change in my printing habit. Just punch print and forget also allot faster than HP. Epson will be my choice from now on.
