Product Specifications

Want to take your presentations, movies, video games, and television programs to the next level? The Epson PowerLite 76C can take you there. Fill your home, office, or classroom with glorious, larger-than-life images using this affordable 5.7-pound projector. The projector, which features 1024 x 768 (XGA) resolution, delivers 2000 lumens so you can experience all your entertainment with oversized images that surpass even big-screen TVs. On top all that, the small, unobtrusive 76C is designed for whisper-quiet operation, making your experience all the more enjoyable.

Take a closer look at the PowerLite S3's functions.
Epson 3LCD technology ensures accurate color and remarkable saturation, even in well-lit rooms. Plus, specialized color modes mean you get the most vibrant images, whatever the situation, and solid state technology allows the unit to operate without a moving color wheel. Accurate color registration makes your images rainbow-free for crisp, detailed video and still images. Smooth video playback means that onscreen action sequences come alive. And best of all, the 76C makes setup a breeze. The projector also features a time-saving instant off feature--no cooldown is required.

Great for Presentations
Because the S3 is so light, you can take it anywhere, making it ideal for presenters on the go. The instant off feature lets you turn off the projector and unplug it immediately--then you're off to your next presentation. Epson 3LCD technology consistently delivers vibrant images and rich color saturation, plus a deep, extensive gray scale for precision detail--even subtle gradations are visible. There's a USB port for mouse and keyboard connectivity, and a brightness control function is provided for various settings to extend lamp life and provide more cost effective operation. There's even an included soft carry case.

Video Magic
Not just for presenters, the 76C shines in the living room, too. The projector's smooth video playback makes onscreen action come alive. It offers a big-screen performance in 4:3 or 16:9 modes, making it easy to enjoy DVDs or video games with amazing color and detail. It's even HDTV-ready, and it supports supports 480i, 480p, 720p, and 1080i formats. The S3's analog connections include video-RGB, composite video, S-video, component video (via video-RGB), and audio RCA.

Easy Setup and Maintenance
To make setup easier, a source search function automatically displays the connected input source(s) and switches instantly between various sources. With the included full-featured remote control you can easily switch sources, control presentation functions, and more. Plus, the projector has a four-second startup time to avoid presentation delays and reduce pre-presentation jitters. Color-coded cables make connectivity easy for first-time users. Lastly, 30-degree keystone correction offers greater positioning flexibility without any distortion.

Maintaining the 76C is a breeze, too. Conveniently placed lamp and air filters are designed for easy, affordable changes, even when the projector is ceiling-mounted. A front-mounted fan quickly cools the projector, especially in high-altitude locations. The 76C ships with a two-year limited warranty, plus a 90-day lamp warranty for added dependability. During the duration of the two-year limited warranty, the Epson Road Service program provides a replacement projector, typically within 24 hours. The warranty is good in over 45 countries and Epson supplies a toll-free support line.

[+] 10.0 LCD projector
I bought this product for my own personal business after having used this model on two other jobs. The projector is lightweight, easy to use, and has excellent illumination. The seller shipped the product well-packaged. I wish all audio-visual equipment was this effective. An excellent product at a reasonable price.

[+] 10.0 Perfect
We needed a versatile projector for a small church. This one fits the bill, perfectly. We've had ours for over a year, & so far, we've connected it to a laptop, DVD, & VCR. We even connected it to a TV, so we could use it to watch the Superbowl. It's handled everything we've thrown at it. I can't vouch for the sound, because we connect the equipment through our sound system, but it does have speakers.

[+] 10.0 Great Unit... A Must Have
I had this unit for approximately 3 years now, and although it is not used daily, when it is used it's on for at least 4 hours, or for 2 movies... I've had no problems with this unit AT ALL!!! Picture quality is fantastic. I don't know how I got along without it... If you're going to buy a projector, this is the one for you

[+] 6.0 WARNING when buying Epson products
PURCHASE YOUR EPSON PRODUCT THROUGH AN AUTHORIZED DEALER OR FROM EPSON DIRECTLY.

This is not a review of this product, but rather a word to the wise... Two and half months after my purchase of an Epson 10000XL scanner through Amazon, it stopped working. Through the followup and tech support process I learned that, because I purchased through Amazon, the manufacturer nor the seller would honor the 1 year warranty. Epson's position is that Amazon is not an authorized seller and that they merely act as broker for what can often be re-furbished or second hand merchandise.

So, should your purchase break or malfunction, as mine did, you are out of luck with regard to warranty.

This lesson cost me $2400.00

[+] 10.0 Fills our needs completely
The projector is light and easy to use and is more than satisfactory in the quality of the pictures.

[+] 10.0 Better than you would expect
The projector is excellent. 3LCD technology proved to be more effecient in many ways than DLP (my opinion). The projector is bright and very easy setting to use. Even the style of the projector is nice. The good thing too that the bulp is not that expensive comparing to other DLP projectors. The price is fair and you will not regret buying it. At least, it is an EPSON brand.

[+] 10.0 great projector
I have owned mine for about 6 months now- one of my best purchases. Easy to setup, outstanding image quality.(Everyone remarks on it the first time they see it!) I use mine for outdoor movie showings, so quietness of operation is important. This thing is silent!! Also love the instant off/on feature. You won't be disappointed.

[+] 8.0 Theater Mode
I use my Epson primarily in the "theater" mode. It replaced a Sharp Projector I had for many years. Of course the Sharp projector was dedicated to theater-type projection. This is a primary weakness in this model Epson projector, although it is adequate. I had to make major adjustments and rearrange furniture to adjust it to my 8ft home screen by moving it several feet closer. I, therefore think the zoom lens needs much more latitude. The "theater" mode could use a setting to adjust the screen considerably smaller. Also remote autofocus would be nice.

My projector seems to have some problems projecting skin tones. Depending on the type of medium projected on the screen, sometimes skin tones appear chalky.

Aside from these factors, I love the overall color quality and brightness projected. Even with the bulb in economical low mode, I get more than enough light to the screen, even under the conditions of regular household lighting. Sometimes the detail seems almost HD, and I use standard cable.

Considering the cost of the projector and bulb replacements, I think it is a good projector

[+] 10.0 Epson Projectors are just plain GREAT
In my line of work, I do about twenty to thirty hours of presentations a week. I have to set up and break down my computer and projector on a daily basis. My Epson Powerlite is a godsend. It is powerful, has great resolution, is light and easy to carry, connects to both a Mac and a PC easily, and best of all is quiet. I love that it comes with a case that was intelligently designed. It is padded, protected, and well positioned so that it easily carries on your shoulder. The image is easily resized (which comes in handy because rooms are not always the same dimensions). The resolution is great when the projector is ten feet from the screen as well as ninety feet. I have a tendency to abuse my electronics, because I have to travel with them so often. The Epson projector and my Macbook Pro have held up to the extreme beating with flying colors. It's a great combination that comes complete with all of the cabling you'll need to operate. The only other purchase I've had to make is an extension cord. This is a topflight projector.

[+] 10.0 effective and easy to use

We purchased this projector 5 months ago and have not had any problems with it. It was easy to connect; the remote is simple, useful and powerful. We only use the projector a about 4 hours a week so we can't predict how it would behave under more strenuous conditions. All in all a great purchase.

[+] 10.0 Epson 76C LCD Projector
I never used a projector before. It is easy to set up and the picture is awesome. I was looking around for specific features such as the 2000 lumens and the 1024x768 native resolution that the Epson 76C has. For the price, the quality is great!

[+] 10.0 Powerful and light too
Projector is easily portable, easy to run, and bright. Directions are clear and simple. Works perfectly with laptop, slides fill screen from about ten feet away.

[+] 10.0 Perfect for presentations
this is just what I needed for presentations with a great price point...can connect anywhere....The only glitch I had was the need for an adapter cord to connect to my MacBook and the sales people did not give me that piece of info even though I inquired about Mac compatibilty. The projector works great....I love not having to wait for it to cool down after use before storing.

[+] 10.0 Love it
Very easy to use. Great for presentations. I do not use it for movie projection, so I don't know about the image quality for that purpose. I am very pleased with with this product. Good price. But those replacement lamps will kill ya ($250 a pop)! Still beats having to rent one each time it's needed. No complaint about the noise of the fan. Hardly notice. Very light weight, great for carry around.

[+] 10.0 Epson Powerlite 76C
I was skeptical that this very low priced projector would be as good as the reviews claimed. No Need! It is light in weight, projects brilliantly, is easily set up, comes with good instructions and does the job as well as anyone could wish for! We used it as part of wedding ceremonies when a rental unit charge would have been $300.00 more than the price of buying this unit! Try it, you'll like it!

Does not focus well. Not a widescreen projector. In fact left and right margins cuts off a little (Start button displays ont 'art'). Would not have purchased if I was able to try before you buy.

But it is very light weight and has a built in small speaker for quick presentations without setting up external speakers.

[+] 8.0 Good performer, easy setup
This is the first projector I have bought . It did everything I expected. Setup was simple. Just connect cables, plug it in and you are done!
The menu system looks simple and intuitive.
One slight annoyance. I found the adjustable feet did not give quite enough range to point the projection image exactly where I wanted it.

[+] 10.0 Does what it is supposed to!
I bought this in a bind to replace and earlier projector that had been stolen from my office. I use this for a class that I instruct on a monthly basis. It does what it is supposed to do. The presentation from the Laptop appears on the screen...the student's nod off, I finish and they get their continuing education certificates. I don't try to watch TV with it or illuminate the Luxor Casino, so if that is what you want to use this product for you had better find another review to taught it's excellence. But, if you need something to help you out with a little visual presentation....this is your baby.

[+] 10.0 Best Bang.
I researched LCD projectors for a long time. Mostly because my wife insisted that I not buy one. Then came Super Bowl XL and we were going to be moving. I need to go out with a bang and used the opportunity and my year end bonus to finally get the all clear from Spouse Central.

Greatest Game Day Ever. 6 Foot high Players. I had the thing maxed out on my wall and the screen size was crystal clear on high speed. I only had this setup at about 11 feet diagonal and IT WAS AWESOME. It can be setup to project from as far away as 39.7 feet. I was at about 15-17 feet to get the 11ft diagonal. I ran the sound through the stereo system and forget it. It was simply insane.

Now it gets better. Price. I bought on sale in Jan. 06. For two hundred more than you are paying now. I WOULD STILL PAY FULL PRICE.

Movies? GREAT. Revenge of the SITH? Need I say more. No problems with over 500 hours on the lamp. 350 at low, 150 at high.

My son invites his friends over to his own Theater. I will never buy a big screen TV. Small TV hooked into the 76c and you are good to go.

[+] 10.0 A machine with great versatility.
I spent hours deciding which multimedia projector to buy. Finally I decided on an Epson 76c. I am not disappointed. Digital photos look great; Power Point presentations are very clear and I have also found success using it to project DVD's. I haven't tried TV as yet.

Pros:

XGA high resolution images
Lower cost than DLP projectors
Multiple uses: photo showings, home entertainment and Power Pt presentations
Lower cost for bulbs than for the DLP machines
Low wattage (250 W) compared to other machines which could mean
reduced replacement probability.
Wireless remote with wireless mouse and wireless pointer.

Cons:

LCD technology and not the new DLP technology (I don't see any disadvantages at this time).
No remote focusing of images.
Cheap speaker.

The major challenge in buying a machine that I found was that there are very few machines that are demonstrated around town. I needed to rely on reviews to decide which machine to buy. PC Magazine has a few reviews. Also few people know very much about the individual machines on the market outside of the machine that they are using.

I almost purchased a Sharp XR-10X, but read in one review that it was an excellent home entertainment projector but not a machine to be used with Power Point. The reviewer commented that the lines on the PP presentation were not clear. Contact the manufacturer to find out if the machine will be suitable for your purpose.

[+] 10.0 Great Projector!
The Epson Powerlite 76C LCD Projector is awesome, and working perfectly and easily for what I need. I project my laptop on the wall for various demos of software, and everybody loves the clarity and crispness of this projector. I've even watched about 4 movies on it, some for my kids, and it's better than I ever imagined.

It is quiet, powers up and down quickly, and has two very easy and intuitive knobs around the lens which make it easy to focus and adjust the zoom or size of the projection, within limits. Overall it's exactly what I need for cheaper than I thought.

[+] 10.0 Super Road Warrior Gear
PROS: This light weight projector is no lightweight in the conference room. As an independent trainer, this projector has proven invaluable in ease of setup, use and transport.

I was drawn to it by the price but I just get more pleased with it every time I use it. Not only has this been great on the job, it has transformed my living room wall into a giant theater. For its cost, this machine has great specs.

[NOTE: I use this with the Logitech 2.4 GHz Cordless USB Presenter, from Tiger Direct, which helps me manage time, pacing and presentation.] The combination of the two has boosted my delivery ratings from my audiences by about 12% to a 98.]

CON: The only thing I'd change would be to add focus control on the remote, but it doesn't take away from performance.

[+] 8.0 Nice projector
Of all the LCD projectors this one gives the most bang for the buck, and I definitely would rather have the slight screen door effect than the rainbow effect on the DLP type. The only complaint I have so far, after a week of use, is that the fan on high speed, needed here due to the altitude, is much louder than I would have expected. I can run the projector in the low light mode, but the 7,500' altitude requires high speed fan operation. No one ever cited that in reviews.

[+] 10.0 Great Projector! Great choice!
I like my Epson Powerlite 76C LCD Projector. I'm glad that I made a good choice. It's so clear and easy to use! I'll recommend it to my friends. I only wish it was smaller in size. Nevertheless, I enjoy using it for my presentations!

[+] 10.0 Excellent!!
I've been using it for 3 weeks now (12-13 movies), and I am very happy with my choice. Good quality, extremely clear picture and I've been projecting it straight to an off-white wall. Low brightness level has been enough for me.
It's not very light though, but it is portable.
I would highly recommend it.

[+] 8.0 Excellent Projector
I recently purchased the Epson 76c. I use it for watching DVD's and television. I havent't used it with a computer. The DVD player is connected with an S-video cable and the television (cable box) is connected with RCA cable. I can't give the unit 5 stars because I don't really have any way to compare it with other projectors. The stores around here that sell projectors don't have them on display like the big screen TV's. The advantages of a projector are obvious; small size, large picture, cost ($1,000 vs. $2,000 or more for big screen TV). The projector bulb does need to be replaced every 2000 to 3000 hours at cost of around $300. I have the projector down the basement where it is fairly dark. I originally projected the image on a wall. I experimented with different types of paint and found that flat white is about the best. DO NOT use gloss white paint!
Later I purchased an inexpensive screen that is slightly better than a white wall. The controls on the 76c are very easy to use. Several features that I like on the unit include the two different light settings; the low setting is for dark rooms(like my basement) and the high setting is for well lit rooms. Also, the low setting will extend bulb life. There are two rings on the projector, one for focus and one for image size. If you go with a projector, make sure you get one with XGA resolution(1024 x 768) (like the 76c) which has almost twice the pixels as SVGA (800 x 600).

[+] 10.0 Great product for a very good price
I bought this projector in exchange for Epson PowerLite S3. S3 has excellent reviews and very low price, so I wanted to try it first. Very good projector, but two things are missing - optical zoom and high resolution. 76C is just like S3, but it does have optical zoom and 1024by768 resolution. Image quality is great. Images are also very bright, enough to see during daytime in a well lit room (but may not be bright enough for direct sun light). Design is great and operation is very easy. Menu options are actually very intuitive and logical - something that is not common with many other projects. Overall - great product, definitely worth the price.
