[+] 10.0 Eureka 71B Hand Held Vacuum
This is a great hand-held vacuum and to make it better I ordered from Amazon the Dirt Devil attachments for $12.95. They work great to extend this vacuums use, including the hanger that also holds this vacuum. This all works great together.

[+] 8.0 Eureka!!!
Eureka 71B Hand-Held Vacuum

I bought this vacuum to clean the 13 carpeted steps I have going from 1st to 2nd floor. I had been using a Power Nozzle on a Electrolux Canister. That was pretty much a two man job as the Nozzle required two hands, and the Canister/hose combination wouldn't set on a step without falling. This small vacuum has solved the two man problem. The Up-Side: It dose a good job of cleaning, is light weight, easy to empty, compact storage, and I didn't find it unusually noisy. The Down-Side: It doesn't glide over my particular carpet very well, especially when trying to use the front opening on the stair risers. Maybe some height-control skids/rollers would improve this aspect of the vacuum. Also I am right handed; the hose is connected to the left side of the vacuum. I natural want to use the hose with my right hand which means the hose has to cross over the vacuum. Well it isn't long enough for that. Solution; hold the vacuum in the right hand and the hose in the left. In-Any-Case, I am for the most part, satisfied, and would recommend it.

[+] 10.0 Absolutely wonderful
I purchased this vacuum after reading all the wonderful reviews. I just have to add my own! This is a great vacuum, very powerful, compact, and surprisingly lightweight. It picks up way more than my Kirby, which cost us so much more! I just moved into a two story house and I love the "riser visor" feature- it works great on stairs. I also like that the attachments all fit compactly into the unit and it is about the width and length of a computer CPU tower (in fact, that is where it is being stored right now). Bottom line- wonderful, wonderful vacuum that will pick up way more dirt and dust than you thought you had!

[+] 10.0 So far, so good
I recently purchased the Eureka 71B Vacuum and have used it 5 or 6 times in my office. I find it an excellent product and
a great buy for the money. It seems to have plenty of suction, is quick and easy to use, and most of the concerns several
others have expressed in reviews, have not been an issue for me ie noisy and hard to empty dirt collection container. The
one complaint I do have, also expressed by others, is that the cord collecting space built into the vacuum, is not quite
deep enough to handle the long cord. It takes careful winding of the cord to insure it will pack into the space provided and because of that, I have stopped using it and just pile the loops on top of the vacuum in storage. Only time will tell how
it holds up over time but so far, so good. I would strongly recommend it based on my rather limited use to date.

[+] 10.0 All around awesome!
I've had this vacuum for a few months now and I just love it. I bought it to vacuum the stairs, but I've used it to clean out the lint trap in the dryer and the pet hair out of my car. It surprised me with how much pet hair it picks up, the inside of my car looks brand new! I highly recommend this vacuum to anyone looking for a powerful hand-held vacuum.

[+] 10.0 Great little vacuum
When the belt broke on our full size vacuum, I used this to clean the entire bottom floor of our house. Realized that our full size had not been working well for a while!

[+] 10.0 Love it!
This vacuum is great for pet hair and especially stairways. The suction is very strong since it has a power cord versus batteries. My sister got one the other day after I raved about it and she loves it, too. It is lightweight and easy to clean. We definitely are please with our Eureka vacuum. My only suggestion would be to lengthen the hose but that is a minor detail that can easily be overlooked. Love it.

[+] 10.0 Hardest working little vacuum
This product absolutely exceeded our expectations. Our home has 18 foot ceilings with high plant ledges. Since both me and my husband are disabled, climbing up a ladder to dust the ledges and any cobwebs causes concerns for our safety. With this hand vac all anxiety is blown out the windows. It is very light weight with maximum suction power. The only complaint is the vacuum hose could be a tad longer. You will not be disappointed in this product and the price really seals the deal.

[+] 10.0 Everything I expected!
I use this vacuum for my stairs and for vacuuming my car. It's got GREAT suction and does everything I hoped for! I had done my research prior to buying this and concluded that this is the best hand-held vac out there and I am happy to report that it really is everything I expected. Highly recommended!

[+] 10.0 powerful
This is the most powerful small vacuum I've ever used. It does pick up the cat hair which is why I purchased it. Cleaning the container is pretty easy. It is bulky, but very useful. I also prefer the corded type, because the cordless run out of power when you need it most and seem to wear out quickly.

[+] 8.0 tricky to keep clean, but does the job
I have had this vacuum for about three years now. I ordered it to use in my dorm rooms and because I needed something that wouldn't take up a lot of space. This vacuum works really well, especially in regards to all the sand brought in during the winter months. However, it only works well when it is "clean." If the dust collector is 1/4 to 1/2 full, it does not suck up all that it should. It needs to be empty in order for it to work. Also, the twirling brushes collect longer hair, which both my roommate and I have, so I have to pull it out of the bristles often, otherwise it will not vacuum well. If you don't mind emptying the vacuum and pulling threads and hairs out of the bristles, it really does work well and is very durable.

Recommend it highly.

[+] 10.0 Sucked my Oriental Rug right clean
This little demon just arrived today, and already it has sucked three full cups of dirt out of my oriental rug.

I have a large Oriental (actually i lugged it back from India) rug, hand made of cotton and really gorgeous. I ordinarily send it to a professional cleaner every three years or so. This little Eureka brought it back to its original glory. It sucked out three canisters of dirt just from the rug. The old gray color has turned back to a sparkling white. I rinsed the filter in the sink, and it released another cup of fine sand and dust. The filter is able to trap all of that, and the vacuum is powerful enough to suck through such a fine filter.

This vacuum is POWERFUL. The brush spins very fast, has its own motor, and can pull up hairs, fuzz, and LOTS of dirt. I'm not a big vacuumer, I bought this thing because I dislike spending $200 for a professional rug cleaning that has inconsistent results. An awesome do-it-yourself cleaning tool for oriental rugs.

[+] 10.0 Love this vac but hate baggless
This vac really has a lot of power for a handheld and is easy to use to do my stairs, car, etc. I personally don't like bagless because they are disgusting to empty and clean, but seems like all the good ones are bagless now.

[+] 10.0 Very strong hand held vac that is perfect for stairs!
I love this little Eureka 71B hand held vac. It is so much stronger than my old hand held dirt devil. It picks up so much dust and dirt that it's hard to believe! I use this on my stairs exclusively, which it cleans quickly and easily. I wish I had purchased this vac sooner. The only negative to this vacuum is that the plug is easily pulled out of the electrical socket, but the positives of this vac outweigh that one negative.
Reviewer [AEOAE9RRBCPPE] | Date [February 16, 2010]
[+] 8.0 great sucker!
this vacuum cleaner really cleans. however, it is true that it is not exactly handy in the sense that you might expect a hand held vacuum cleaner 1) to have a cordless option 2) to be lightweight and 3) easy to maneuver (it fails in these 3 areas). This is why i give it 4 instead of 5 stars. i wouldn't recommend this for a car -- it is possible, but you will need an attachment with a longer hose, as the hose on this is way too short. Please note that this vacuum cleaner is pretty heavy for a hand held and you'll work up a sweat. However, if you just want use it at your office desk or for your couch or under the bed for places harder to reach than a large household vac like I do, then you've found your best friend.

[+] 10.0 This thing really sucks!!!
I am so glad I read the reviews of handheld vacs and chose this one. It chews up dirt like an angry yellow pit bull. Plenty of power. Easy to clean and the attatchments store easy inside the unit. The cord is plenty long enough. I use this for our stairs, rv and our cars. I really dont think you will find anything better, no matter what price you pay.

[+] 10.0 Great for steps if you have animals.
I own an Electrolux Versatility vacuum with the step/upholstery attachment and STILL had issues with hair on my steps. I went online and saw that the Eureka had a great rating with rave reviews and I must agree. It picked up embedded hair on my steps that had been bugging me for weeks yet couldn't get to come up with the regular vacuum. This was well worth the $40.00 that I paid for it. The cord is long, it stores the accessory right on board and is so versatile. The only negative that I see is the weight. It is heavier than a regular dustbuster, but, still, lighter than a regular vacuum. All in all, glad I listened to the other reviews and bought this one!

[+] 10.0 Great Littel Vacuum
This is a great little vacuum and if you catch it on sale, it is very very affordable. I probably would've bought it anyway if it wasn't on sale. I didn't have a vacuum to use on my stairs and I have two cats. So, the frequency in which I would be willing to lug my huge vacuum up and down was very seldom. Not to mention I don't think it did a great job.

As soon as this little puppy arrived we unpacked it and immediately started vacuuming the stairs for a test. They were very very hairy from my cats not to mention just plain dirty. To say the least I was done in a jiffy and the stairs were extremely clean and no longer smelled of cat!!

I would recommend this product to anyone. Oh, by the way you can only buy this product online, and amazon is the cheapest.

[+] 10.0 Great Handheld Vacuum!
We recently ordered this Eureka vacuum based upon the really good reviews. And because it was only $40. It is the most powerful little vacuum that I've seen. The fact that it's corded and has belt driven brushes are a definite plus. Cleaning the filter can be messy, but I've found it helpful to periodically rinse the filter and let it dry completely before using. All in all, I would definitely recommend this vacuum to everybody.

[+] 10.0 More power than a broom vac!
As a 'mature' adult who has trouble bending to vacuum kitty litter -- I sure wish there was a detachable handle invented for this wonderful hand vac!!! (Hint, hint!)

The weight is perfect and it really does a thorough cleaning job. Cat hair is removed from most surfaces easily. However my computer chair has a heavy nap and just won't release all of it.

The price is right for a well made vacuum. I am very pleased.

[+] 10.0 another great eureka vacuum
this vacuum is great for stairs and lots of other tasks where a little vacuum is needed. fantastic suction power!! had just vacuumed the stairs with the full size upright when this came to the front door. pulled it out of the box and re-did the stairs and collected an amazing amount of stuff off the 'clean' stairs with significantly less effort. also used it to vacuum out the ashed/carbonized spills in oven (once cool and not moist!). has a decent length to cord, still will need extension in some cases. the head is not ideal for corners but the hose is easy to use and works extremely well.

[+] 8.0 Very nice
Have not had this very long so I cannot comment on durability, but it works great and is amazingly powerful for the size. just wish it had a slightly longer hose for times when you do not want to use the rotating brush.

[+] 8.0 Cleaning the filter is nasty business!
Yes, it is fairly powerful and rather loud. I use it to vacuum stairs and around the cat's litter box. The only problem is cat hair and litter dust "cake" on the filter, and scraping it off is both difficult and gross. I was able to buy 2 filters for $15 including shipping from Eureka's website.

[+] 10.0 One sexy sucka
Perfect thus far but...if I could add anything, it'd be an internal cord holder, and some telescoping handle so i wouldn't have to hunch over (because this lil thing is actually stronger than our larger vacuum and I'd prefer to just use it!). not too heavy. powerful. sucks my fluffy dog's hair off everything. assuming the only part i wont enjoy is cleaning out the filter. this is probably the only hand-held vacuum i've used that really works!
Reviewer [A2VQIBCCSNWTSY] | Date [January 10, 2010]
[+] 10.0 Outstanding performance
Just got done vacuuming the stairs with this purchase and I have to admit I was absolutely floored by its performance! Bought it primarily to deal with the cat hair on the stairs and it performed absolutely wonderfully. I was a little concerned about the comments about its weight but at approx 5 lbs it really isn't an issue unless you have a lot of stairs to cover. I like the fact that you can turn off the brush roller and just have the vacuum going. Filter cleaning is easy, and the filter itself seems pretty solidly constructed.

For $39 it's absolutely worth every penny.

[+] 8.0 Eurkea hand vac
As the other reviews noted, this thing is powerful & heavy. Wish the suction hose for the attachment were about a foot longer. One day it smelled as though something were burning inside, however, that subsided. Overall, good value. Great suction.

[+] 10.0 Holy Crap...It's Awesome!
I absolutely LOVE this little vacuum. I suffer from lower back pain and have a difficult time vacuumming my steps with the large vacuum cleaner. This little Eureka is extremely lightweight and makes vacuumming the steps a breeze. I love having the attachment right at my fingertips to get the nooks and crannies. I am so glad that I have this.

[+] 8.0 very good
I was looking for a small vacuum with power roller brush. Not one that was air driven. I found it with this one. It works very well with picking up pet hair and dust and dirt. Am pleased that it is not very noisy. The only complaint I have is the filter is expensive to replace. They say to replace it every 6 months, but to stay efficient is should be replaced more than that. Overall, it serves my needs very well.

[+] 10.0 Good buy
We already have two stand-up vacuums in the house: one upstairs and the other one downstairs. Even though one of the vacuum has separable parts we can carry up the stairs to vacuum the stairs, it is a hassle to lug that big thing. So, we needed something small to vacuum the stairs. I did good amount of research before buying this product. It looked like the battery-powered vacuums lack good suction despite their obvious portability advantage. So, we settled for this one and I'm glad we did. The stairs (carpet-covered) look really nice after vacuuming with this. No, it is not too heavy; it is designed to be carried around. The cord does not bother you as much as you might expect; especially when compared to lugging a bug vacuum around.
And, well, the price is right, too!

[+] 10.0 Most Ridiculous Vacuum Ever
Holy cow...I just finished using this thing for the first time, and it is absolutely incredible. It's like I have a new rug! This bad boy sucked literally like a pound of gross out of my little 8x10 rug. Sure, it's got a clever, compact design and is simple / user-friendly, but that's not the important part. When you use it, it literally sticks to the floor!!! You can feel the resistance to movement as it sticks to the ground like one of those little sucker fish that attach to the bottom of sharks. It's like one of those TV commercials that make absurd claims and back them up with doctored footage, except you're holding it in your hand and it's real. So if you're considering this vacuum, buy it. Even if you're not, buy it anyway...you'll use it eventually.

[+] 8.0 A small compact powerful vacuum
The Eureka 71B hand-held vacuum just does its job. I made my decision based on Amazon customer reviews. After Ii tried this vacuum, I found it's small but powerful, and its design is simple. I think it also blows on the other end. The suction is very strong, once it almost sucked in my bubble wrap, I had to pull it with some effort. Wish Amazon would have included some extenders pipes and adapters on the side for cleaning different surface areas. I worried that the rolling brush would be tangled with my HAMPEN high pile rug, I wish there is an adapter that's selling along with this unit.

Purchased this primarily for carpeted stairs based on the reviews on this site. Works great on both the tread and the riser. Great suction power. I really like the onboard hose and crevice tool. Bought this to use on carpeted stairs...my Dyson Slim is too difficult to use on stairs. The Eureka works great! I can't believe how much dirt and dust I was missing trying to use the Dyson on my stairs. It was really gross to see all the dirt pile up inside the Eureka...but the stair are definitely clean now!! [+] 10.0 Perfect for carpeted stairs
My vacuum is less than 2 weeks old and I'm very glad I chose the Eureka Corded Hand Held Vac. I was using a Hoover Linx cordless hand vac for my carpeted stairs. It just didn't seem to have the suction strength I needed, the intake channel was simply too narrow to do this job quickly, and it took more time than I preferred to to clean my stairs. My Eureka Hand Held Vacuum Cleaner is PERFECT for my cartpeted stairs. It has the suction strength I need, a wide intack channel, and it does the job significantly faster. It's a tad more weighty than I would prefer, but that is definitely not a deal breaker aspect. I'm very happy with my purchase.Eureka 71B Hand-Held Vacuum

[+] 8.0 Great vacuum!
I love this little vacuum. It really "SUCKS" nicely, and is relatively light and easy to handle. The only reason I gave it 4/5 stars is because the hose is a little shorter than I was expecting. Sometimes it's a little awkward to use, and it makes it very difficult to clean the cobwebs in the corners by my ceiling. Otherwise, I love this vacuum!

[+] 10.0 Excellent vaccum
I am very pleased with this hand-held vacuum. I've only had it for about week, but so far, I am impressed. I personally don't think it is too heavy as some have noted.

Positive aspects:
- Vacuum picks up dirt, dust balls, and hair very well
- The power of the machine to pickup all manner of particles is very good without the motor being too loud
- The ability to vacuum flat carpeting or vertically on a stair step is innovative
- Long cord length is convenient
- It's great that there are two separate power options--one for hose use and one for brush use
- The designers made an effort to think about how this machine could be cleverly stored: the power cord wraps around the end of the machine, the hose attachment is stored at very end of the machine; and the hose wraps around the body of the vacuum and secures to the machine
- It is easy to empty the filter
- I like the bright yellow color of the machine--makes it easy to spot in a dark closet!

I have nothing negative to say about the product. I am very happy with this purchase!

[+] 10.0 Awesome Little Vacuum
I recently purchased this vacuum after researching a bunch of options and reading other customer reviews. I used it for the first time today and I'm extremely happy with how well it worked. I have two flights of carpeted stairs, each with 13 stairs, in my house . . . plus a hairy cat. It took me about 10 minutes to do each flight of stairs and it was time well spent. My stairs are clean and hair free! I love the fact that you can rotate the cover over the bristles in order to vacuum the front of each stairs. Did I mention this vacuum is fantastic?

I also love the fact that the cord wraps around the base. I had a small Dirt Devil vacuum that I used to use on my stairs and I hated it because there wasn't a good place to store the cord. It was a pain to store and the vacuum didn't work nearly as well as this one does.

Some people have complained about the noise quality, but I think it is fairly quiet for such a powerful vacuum. My boyfriend slept while I vacuumed and he didn't hear it at all.

Good job Eureka! I strongly recommend this vacuum if you have carpeted stairs.

[+] 8.0 powerful little vacuum
I got this to get rid of hairs on the carpet of my tiny studio apartment. I really like the fact that it's powerful, and has a pretty long cord. But I'm going to talk about two cons for my consideration.

First, hairs got tangled on the rotating brush (i have long hair), as happens with many other upright vacuums. It would be nice if you can remove the rotating brush to clean the hairs that got stuck on it.

Second, the manual says you shouldn't wash the filter, however, just after one use, it seems to me impossible to thoroughly clean it without washing.

[+] 10.0 Carpet Cleaners Dream!
I have a carpet cleaning business and stairs and upholstery are the worst thing to clean when doing the pre cleaning. I purchase this and works great, suction is good and the brushes are strong and picks up the hair and dirt. The filter is kind of a pain in the butt to clean but its a tough filter and is strong enough to hand wash. Also like the attachment how it inserts into the bottom of the Vacuum for easy excess and not in the way!
