Works fine, great for water features
This thing works great, just as advertised. Our little farm is organic, so I never use chemicals for weed control. I have a couple of gas-powered string trimmers which I still have to use a few places, but since I got the Weed Dragon I now use it almost exclusively.
A couple of reasons I prefer this over the gas-powered string trimmers: 1) No messy mixing of gas and oil 2) It starts every time with just a flick of the flint striker gadget--no choking, priming, pulling, pulling, pulling... 3) Much quieter--I can listen to my iPod while using it.
Best feature of all: I've got several small ponds in the front and back of the house. With a string trimmer, the cut grass goes flying everywhere, mostly into the ponds, making a big mess to clean up. With the Weed Dragon, the weeds just wither in place with no extra cleanup required.
Tip: What I do around the water features is cook the weeds one day and then let them dry out for 2 or 3 days. At that point, they're dry and brown and a little unsightly, so I go back over them with the Weed Dragon and toast them again. Since they're brown and dry, they immediately flare up and turn to ash and disappear. The surrounding grass and weeds never catch fire, since they weren't treated the first time. This double treatment leaves me with a clean, weed-free area and no residue. Note that you should still keep a fire extinguisher and hose nearby to make sure things don't get out of control.

Pretty cool, does a decent job
I ordered one of these becasue I was tired of pulling weeds from between the cracks on a patio I build that is a slate floor with sand filler surrounded by castle wall bricks with rose bushes behind. We have a lot of weeds that like to pop up and since our dogs play out there and eat grass poison was not an option. I bought this, got it a day later (thanks amazon!) and hooked it up to my grills propane tank. Instantly I lit it (why wait?!?!?) and man was this thing impressive! It's weeding with a flame thrower/torch. You literally only have to pass it over the weeds for a few seconds and they start to wilt. A day or two later they are dead. Now at this point you can pull them eaisly or relight your torch and burn em again! :) It by no means is "magic" but it does do the job as long as you aren't expecting the thing to vaporize weeds. It kills the cells of the plant and basically it starves it to death. I do recommend keeping the garden hose handy just because it's a safety issue.

Good for dead vegetation
Used this item, as per instructions, on my gravel driveway. Used a lot of propane in the process. It did burn the weed surface but did not kill the weeds themselves. The weeds grew back in about a week. Wound up using herbicide anyway. It did work very well in cleaning up already dead vegetation. I would recommend getting it for that purpose. Just make sure you're standing upwind to avoid breathing in smoke which may contain herbicide. I might be a little charitable giving it 3 stars.

Better name is 'flame thrower'
Amazon delivered the weed dragon promptly. The thing does what is supposed to. I would warn people though, that it is something to use very carefully. One could get burned easily. Also, when you edge with it, or try to kill a weed in the middle of grass or near bushes, the heat from the flame will kill more than just the weed. But maybe one should expect that?
I killed weed growth a foot away from a rose bush and some of the rose bush leaves died from the flame's heat. Bush is okay though.
clamman
I am enjoying using the weed dragon. It took some practice for me to learn to use it without leaving weeds behind or scorching my plants. Weeds take longer to regrow than when pulling them by hand. I now only weed by hand close to the plants and use the weed dragon everywhere else.
It doesn't say in the ad, but you need to use a refillable gas bottle with this model. I had an extra one from an old grill and a dolly to strap it onto, so I was all set to use it right away. If I had to buy those two items as well, it would be quite an expense.
Weeding the yard took days, now it was done in less than two hours and no returns yet. Even did the gutters in the street, neighbors have since borrowed the FLAME THROWER as the kids call it and cleaned up their yards. It is now an neighborhood asset.

Good, but too powerful!
The product seems to be of good quality and works well (a little too well). However a 100K BTU is probabaly too much for the average suburban user. When turned on 'full blast' The cone of flame covers a good 12 inch area, and the kill area is probabaly another 6-12 inches. If I throttle it down to 'low' it seems to work better, but it is still a little much for 'spot treating' weeds on my quarter acre suburban lawn.

You May Not Have Thought About This
I have pine trees next to the rocks around the house. This thing is great at burning the dried pine needles without disturbing the rocks. No bending over, messing up the rocks, etc. Easy to use product.
Great for destroying small areas of weeds. I purchased the torch for clearing out some stinging nettles and it did wonders. Needed to burn the nettles twice, about 5 days apart, to totally kill the plant. With a little practice, using the torch can become surgical in killing weeds around the plants you want to keep. If looking to clear larger areas, like bigger than say 10 x 20, a bigger torch might be easier and faster to use. Over long periods of use, hands become somewhat strained due to the straight angle of the handle. For easy mobility, I straped the propane tank to a 2 wheel hand truck and rolled it to where ever I needed to. Overall, a great purchase that will gets tons of use on my 7 acres.

Weed Dragon Garden Torch #VT2-23C
This item works pretty well. I really like it! So far, I've used this during the Spring season killing weeds throughout the yard, sidewalk cracks and the fence line. I recommend using this weed dragon after it rains while most of the ground is still wet to prevent any fast spreading fires. Otherwise, have a garden hose or extinguisher ready in hand. I've also used it to light up the charcoal grill with no need of lighter fluid. This item definitely beats buying expensive weed killer!
A cart for the propane tank would be nice but, I did not want to spend any money for it. Let's see what this thing can do during the Winter time...

Pyromaniacs dream for weeding
I bought this primarily for natural herbicide free weeding. Having an infant crawling around, I was really hesitant about spraying Roundup and having that leeching into the soil, not to mention, our property borders a creek. I ordered this and had it the next day! Hooked it up and immediately began flame throwing. Thankfully, I began in the middle of our brick patio. This baby kicks out quite a flame. It was a breezy day, I suggest using this when there is little to no wind. It doesn't produce a tight concentrated flame like a propane soldering torch for plumbing would.
Honestly I almost canceled the order in lieu of the $28 model from Harbor Freight. Thankfully you can't yet do that on an iPod touch or mobile phone. The more I thought about it, do I really want to trust an inferior tool when I am dealing with 100,000 BTU?
Do keep a fire extinguisher or hose on hand! I did this the day after a rainstorm, which I'd suggest. Do NOT do it when it is dry outside. Even so, the grass caught on fire a couple of times.
Next task.... I have a carpenter ant hill right where the sand box is supposed to go. No need to pesticides, I'll turn the ground and flame away. Not even summer yet, and I can't wait to try this on the ice in the driveway!

Weeds don't die easily
Product is well constructed. It does, however, take a few repeat flamings over a period of time to kill the weeds.

OK with qualifications
The tool works as advertised and is easy to use. However, for weed removal it is not entirely effective for existing weeds. To be fair, the documentation indicates that new weeds are manageable but for established weeds it may take several attempts. I found that I had to employ alternative methods to remove established weeds. It is, without doubt, best suited for removing new weeds from walkways, gravel paths, etc. As for fence lines it depends on what the surrounding environment is like and, as suggested in the guide, keep a fire extinguisher and water hose handy.

Made in the USA !
This torch works great. I took a chance and ordered it hoping it wasn't imported and I was pleased to see both the torch and it's included flint igniter are made right here in America.
I was able to kill the weeds along 200' of sidewalk and stone wall in less than 1/2 hour. Results are as good as chemical herbicides, and you don't have the cramping hand ache from trying to spend that much time with a spray bottle. Works best if you flame weeds right after a rain, they are full of water and easier to kill and you start fewer fires around leaves or other debris.
Wilting weeds and stomping on the few small fires that start are much more fun than you might expect.
Of course it's an open flame, so engage your brain before waving it around. Properly adjusted the flame is hard to see in daylight, and heat can damage nearby plants that don't seem close enough to be harmed. A metal snow shovel is useful if you want to flame weeds around cultivated shrubs or plants. You can use the metal shovel to reliably shield desirable plants from the heat. Be aware that any paint on your shovel might not be there when you're done (and I wouldn't try it with a plastic shovel).
I'm pleased with this tool, and I'm sure it will do a good job getting the charcoal started in the barbeque and melting winter ice too.
How about it Amazon, can you try to include location of manufacture in more item descriptions? Many times I pass over a purchase because I don't want to end up with something made overseas and can't tell from the description.

Highly satisfied!
I purchased the 100,000 BTU Weed Dragon Torch for myself, and another for my brother who has a 100-acre farm. The torch is solidly constructed, lights easily, and puts out an intensely hot flame. Its uses are limited by one's imagination.

Weed Dragon Torch
Flame Engineering's Weed Dragon Garden Torck works as advertised. Does kill those weeds dead when nothing else would. We live on a river and try to keep use of chemicals down to a minimum as we want to keep the river free of pollutants and other harmfull matter.

A great multi-purpose torch
I purchased another torch through Amazon. My original one lasted almost 20 years. I searched the local hardware stores, but they only had Chinese knockoffs. I use the torch to clean up weeds around patio stones, gardens, and along my rural driveway. The torch also works great for starting my Weber charcoal BBQ. You can avoid using the charcoal lighter fluid, PLUS it starts the coals quickly and cleanly.
The torch uses your own refillable 20 lb propane tank to save you money and waste. If you should need replacement O rings in the future, you can get them at your local propane or hardware store.
Support quality American made products. The job you save may be your own.
This is a terrific "green" alternative to chemical weed-killers. Just pass the business end of this propane torch over the leaves of your weeds and they wilt within a few days. Some of your tougher weeds may take repeated applications.
It bears mentioning that if your weeds are in mulch, do this on a wet day and have a hose handy, just in case. I've set my mulch smoldering a couple of times. Also beware of any dry leaves you missed during Fall cleanup. They will make a merry blaze, too.
This is not only terrific for cleaning out the weeds sprouting up through cracks in the sidewalk or driveway, but also clearing out weedy spots against chain link fences.
Terrifically useful tool.

Smoking them weeds.
This is a affordable weed burner, not as nice as an infrared burner, but at less than half the cost, it is a great deal. It is not necessary to burn the weed, just heat it till the color of the leaves change, wait a few days and the weed will be dead. It works better if the ground is wet and the weed is turgid (full of water). Plus it is fun to watch them die and a lot healthier that spaying chemicals everywhere.

Wonderful, Does way more than what I bought it for.
I purchased this to help control weeds in my garden without using chemicals. Works great. You do have to use care since it is an open flame but if you follow the instructions and put a call into their customer service line for tips you'll have great success. You do have to flame several times over the season but way easier and quicker than pulling weeds. I've had my torch for almost a year and have used it for many other things. It worked great for ice removal off of my steps and my husband uses it for heating up the block on his tractor and starting pit fires. I can't wait until next Spring so I can start killing those unwanted weeds.

What a disappointment!
What a disappointment! It is much more than just heat. A long and very hot fire comes out of the end. We passed it over the weeds slowly as the directions indicate and nothing happened. Holding the fire on the weed until it singed and almost burned or did burn seemed to work better. Also, you can only use this in a very pristine area. No pineneedles, small leaves or mulch. The instructions say to carry a fire extinguisher with you as you work. We were working in an area that had small pieces of old leaves around rocks, etc that we could not rake all away. We kept starting fires in that area and having to put them out with water. We used a lot of butane (expensive) and a week later many of the weeds, though burned on the top, are sprouting new soots from the roots.
I searched on Weed Dragon and found the Flame Engineering site.
I will gladley let you know how i like this weed product if i can find one to buy and try . Maybe some one can help me find one
