I love this tape. Though it is music a little before my time, it is wonderful. It is a good companion to the Jersey Boys tape. They are both great tapes.

I went to see Jersey Boys, the musical. Wanted to hear the original FRankie Valli and Four Seasons, so ordered this CD and was not disappointed. All their best well known hits included.Quality of recording pretty good.

This album certainly must be considered four or five stars. It is exactly what you expect in a "very best": 20 songs, including six #1s and almost every one at least a top-ten hit. The songs I wanted were right there.

The book is a nice history of the band, written in a positive style, naturally. For you "Jersey Boys" watchers, the departure of Tommy merits only a single sentence, with none of the financial challenges mentioned. Inclusion of the lyrics might have been a nice touch, but you know almost all of them anyway, don't you?

The only area somewhat lacking is the quality of the sound. We must remind ourselves that the original 1960s recordings can only be pushed so far. Thus, they sound a little thin by modern standards of depth and richness.

My particular CD had a few rough spots and drop-offs when run on a simple CD player. Fortunately, after ripping the tunes to my PC, they sounded fine. Whew.

I thought this is an excellent selection of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons greatest hits.

I'm sure the audio engineers did the best they could with the recordings. All of the trackes are very clean, but I thought it was a shame that the older tracks lacked the stereo "depth" of the newer tracks. By comparison, the "Jersey Boys" soundtrack takes full advantage of the improvements in recording technology and so breathes a lot of life into these older songs. However, that CD is comprised mostly of faster versions and medleys in order to fit the format of a stage show.

In the final analysis, I think that both CDs are worth purchasing.

This is one fine CD, with some of the best music ever recorded. Large number of tracks, and the original 4 seasons (not frankie valli and 3 guys he picked up and called the seasons). These are the REAL seasons.

This is a real score for both fans of Franki Valli and for Rhino records. This best of gathers songs from all phases of the band's career and Valli's solo albums, from various labels and multiple decades. From those first memorable singles "Sherry" and "Big Girls Don't Cry" on Vee-Jay (a label that was an early US host of The Beatles) to Valli scoring a number one with the Grease Soundtrack theme song, you can follow pop styles and trends through Valli's falsetto.

While those coming to this CD via the success of the Jersey Boys Broadway show will be taken aback by the primitive sound of the early records, the production was still very pristine for the times. The horse-clops on "Walk Like a Man" or the chimes on "Dawn (Go Away)" show savvy, and the 70's comeback of "Who Loves You" or "Swearin' To God" hail the omnipotence of the disco era. Add some great liner notes, and you have the best Four Seasons comp available. Take a little stroll down the Jersey Boardwalk with Sherry, Candy, Ronnie, Dawn and Marrianne...and Franki Valli.

Recently had the pleasure of seeing "Jersey Boys" on Broadway and left the theater remembering all of the songs of The Four Seasons which brought back so many memories of yesteryear and my coming of age. This CD has most of the hits. One of my favorites, "Silence is Golden" is not on here and very difficult to find but I enjoyed the songs which are featured.

I bought this CD to get the complete Four Seasons hit collection, and this is it!! We saw Jersey Boys recently, and it was great, but no comparison to the real deal...you won't be disappointed!

If you're a fan of Valli & the Seasons, you'll enjoy the reverie this CD provides. They're always the best!

This is a very good CD. After seeing a performance of Jersey Boys, I was going to buy there "Original Broadway Cast Recording" CD. I listened to clips of "Jersey Boys" and clips of this CD. I bought "Very Best of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons" because they sounded better to me. After all, they had the real sound. There was a reason this music dominated the juke boxes.

Honestly, the recent release of Jersey Boys is better, but if you're a fan then you'll enjoy this CD.

After seeing the stage musical Jersey Boys, I had to have their greatest hits CD! The music has more significance than a nostalgia ride for this child of the early 1960's. The stage show coupled with the CD gave me the Four Seasons' history as both artists and hardscrabble New Jersey and New York Italian- American kids from the other side of the tracks.

I purchased 2 copies of Frankie Valli.
The quality of both of them was extremely poor, to the point I could not understand either of them after the first 3- 5 numbers.
Amazon was excellent in crediting me for the purchase.
I need to add that all other Amazon purchases have been very satisfactory.

Seeing Jersey Boys resusciated my love for Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. This CD has all of the very best. Every hit, every unmistakable sound brings me to my feet to dance and romance. I'm 16 all over again.

Very Best of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons

I was 16 when I heard Four Seasons for the first time. Behind the Iron Curtain it was then something like a miracle, to hear fresh, pure and beautiful pop music.

Recently I found this CD on Amazon store. Remembering feelings I had forty years ago I tried to listen to samples, and I was caught again.

When the CD arrived, I put it into the player, being afraid a little of how I will like it now, as an old man, quite different from that boy in early sixties.

It was amazing. The feelings I had forty years ago were exactly replicated now. Same joy, same pride of being able to listen to such a piece of music.

I wonder how younger generation would accept this kind of music. Anyway, I can recommend it. It is worth your attention.

I saw Frankie Valli year ago at a fun raiser. Frankie and the group were fantastic. I had the opportunity to meet him, he was very nice (even had our picture taken with him). This album just reminded me of my younger, fun loving, carefree days. I would definitely recommend this to everyone who is a Frankie Valli fan!

The Very Best of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons gives us a good sized collection of hits by Frankie Valli both with The Four Seasons and on his own. I really like that about this CD--you get four tracks by Frankie Valli as a soloist and that's grand.

"Sherry" opens the CD with an early rocking tune that has a doo wop twist to it; this was very popular when it was first released and even all these years later it's not hard to understand why. They sing this to perfection and the beat is excellent. What a great song about a young love! "Big Girls Don't Cry" is a very good number that rocks well and you can easily hear Frankie's voice just above the others. They all sing very well, of course--make no mistake about it. I also really like "Walk Like A Man" about a youthful man who must be strong after his girlfriend dumps him. They harmonize so well, too!

"Dawn (Go Away)" has a great beat and they sing this with panache; the musical arrangement makes great use of the guitars and the percussion. "Bye, Bye, Baby (Baby Goodbye)" is another song about a young love that cannot be because they don't want to cheat on their current girlfriends; and "Opus 17" is a masterpiece with a heavenly melody that impresses me every time I hear it.

Of course, there are those tracks from Frankie Valli as a soloist. Of these I really like "My Eyes Adored You" performed by a more mature Frankie Valli; his tenor voice is excellent and the melody is hauntingly beautiful. "Swearin' To God" is another tune that proves irresistible when Frankie sings it. I love it! Last but certainly not least we also get Frankie singing the theme song to the movie Grease. What a great arrangement!

Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons live on through their great music; and the sound quality on this album doesn't disappoint me. I highly recommend this CD for fans of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons.

Ordered this after we saw "Jersey Boys". I got one for me and one for a friend and we are both enjoying them tremendously.

After seeing Jersey Boys, this was a MUST have item. Growing up in the 60's, this brought back some truly wonderful memories for me. Loved it!

Purchased this originally over a year ago and just purchased two more copies for my parents and in-laws. The reason, the CD is wonderfully produced and the music and sound are both top quality. My wife and I enjoyed seeing the national tour of the broadway show Jersey Boys this year and are sending our parents to a show later this year and the CD and the tickets to the show is their Christmas present this year!

Typically every CD has a few songs which you don't like. This CD is the exception where EVERY SONG is a recognizable & delightfull hit. I had forgotten how strong the orchastration was on the 4 Seasons music. This is an outstanding CD.

This is an awesome CD! I bought tickets to "Jersey Boys" and needed this to supplement my meager Four Seasons stash. I love these selections! These are the best of the best, in chronological order, and include Frankie's solos hits as well. I was engrossed with the liner notes, and learned a TON of Four Seasons history. I'm so glad I had this CD before seeing the play last week. It really made the story much richer. Thanks so much for this gem of a CD!!

I wanted this album after seeing Jersey Boys in person. The original Four Seasons were before my time but I was familiar with a few of their songs though. I got this album as a birthday present from my husband, popped it into the cd player right away and loved it! It's great hearing the originals sing their music vs 4 actors portraying them night after night on the stage! This is a must have album for any fan of the Jersey Boys or The Four Seasons!

What's not to like about this album. I regreted that I didn't buy any of their music "back in the day", but now I have a compilation of all my favorites from this talented group. Love it!!
