Garmin AC Charger with International Adapters for nüvi

My son has a Garmin c340. He uses a Garmin AC wall charger # 010-10618-00 to charge his unit. I have the Garmin 255W GPS. I noticed that the plug-in port on each unit is the same. I emailed Garmin Support to see if I could use the 010-10618-00 to charge my 255W. They answered that "Yes, you can use the 0618 charger to charge the 255W". I have done so, and it works perfectly well. I'm glad I didn't purchase yet another corded item for use with my GPS. Just wanted to pass this information along. I realize this is not a review of the 0723 model, but five stars because Garmin has told me that both charges work the same, and the 010-10618-00 does exactly what it's supposed to, as should the 101-10723-00.

Can't wait to take our GPS on our next International trip and with this charger it will be easy to keep it charged up each day.

It is a great product to have. The new GPS requires so much from the battery. I always too my Garmin 350 for granted however I haven't used it for a while and it has still held its charge. I travel a lot and I have some games, however it doesn't take long to drain the battery. When I don't use it for a while and I turn it on the battery is gone and I have to depend on my car charge. This is great because of the international adapters. If you travel to different countries like I do it is a must!

I have these and also bought them for a friend. They are great accessories to have for your Garmin.

Just hope things will always go smooth-So far I have learned to trust this type of shopping

I really can't review this product because I never recieved it. I have ordered it twice and both times it was cancelled due to improper shipping on your end. I filled out a survey on this before but have nor recieved a reply. Think I'll shop at another site next time.

With this product, I can charge and program my Garmin GPS in my house (which is especially nice during cold weather.

Although I haven't tried the international adapters yet, the electrical charger works perfectly with my Garmin Nuvi 1390T. It's so convenient to be able to charge my unit in the house or in a hotel/motel room, when a computer isn't handy. In fact, I agree with several other reviewers who felt that this charger should have been included with the GPS unit.

The shipping was prompt, and Amazon offered the best price.

In sum, I am completely satisfied with this purchase, and I have already recommended the charger to friends who have recently purchased Garmin GPS units.

Logical accessory for Garmin GPS owners who wish to use or charge the device outside the car.

Overall, I am very pleased with the purchase of the Garmin Crossover GPS system and the accessories. The GPS itself has a few bugs about best routes and destinations, but I think that is inherent to most systems. The voice directions are exceptionally loud and clear. The weighted friction pad mount is great on my car dash. I did not want any permanent mount in my car which is a MINI Cooper. It has stayed in place in even during some windy and bumpy drives. With the car charger you can leave it in place and it will auto boot up and shut down.

The charger works well with my nuvi 855. It is so convenient to be able to charge the unit at home or in your hotel. I have not traveled to Europe yet so I can't comment on how well the international adapters work.

I love my Garmin Nuvi, but it didn't come with an adapter for charging it in the house - just a car charger. Twice I've taken it on vacation and ended up not renting a car, and thus, had to do without my Garmin. I checked out the Garmin site, and they only had the adapter I wanted as part of a kit- and I already had all the other stuff included in that kit. I was so delighted that I checked with Amazon, and they had the adapter as a separate item, and at a really reasonable price. Thanks, Amazon!!!

We took our Garmin on a car-free trip. We used it as a walking navigation aid in an urban setting and on motor coach excursions to follow our route. So we needed to re-charge it in our hotel room. The Garmin AC charger did the job. We most appreciated the speed in which it re-charged: 1 hour from depleted to full.

This lets you charge your compatable GPS before taking off and while editing your route at home or hotel. This charger does not put your GPS in PC mode as some aftermarket chargers do. Many GPS operational problems come from internal battery being undercharged. This unit is Garmin but much lower price than from Garmin direct. Arrived promptly.

I attach my GPS to my home computer, to assure it has the latest maps, and is functioning to it's best ability. This assures that GPS has power, away from your vehicle.

glad i don't have to be shackled to the cigarette lighter when charging. this is more convenient when traveling.

The Garmin A/C Power Cable for the nuvi Portable GPS Navigators works as described. For most people they are probably unnecessary. However, if you travel to an area where you need to charge your nuvi using AC power, then this is what you want.

AC adaper is useful when you want to use Garmin at home as the USB does not function well.

I would have liked the option of purchaing just the AC cable for less money, but I was happy that I found this on AMAZON for less than the asking price on the Garmin website. Works fine for my Garmin Nuvi 255WT. My GPS came with a charger for the car, but I wanted the option of charging indoors as well.

The title says it all. Plug in the AC block (after selecting the appropriate clip-in prongs), plug the other end into your Garmin Nuvi, and it's "Charge!".

One word of WARNING! It's all too easy to pull the block from the wall and leave the prongs behind.

Be sure to pull PERPENDICULARLY to the wall.

I read all the amazon reviews debating whether or not this charger was necessary and I ended up buying one to be safe. Well, in the course of a two week road trip, the charger never left its box, and likely never will. Our GPS system charged quickly just by using the lighter in the car, and it stayed charged for hours afterwards when we took it into hotels. Unless you plan to use your GPS as a walking/cylcling companion, and think you'll rarely be setting foot in a car, there's no point to getting the A/C charger.

Exactly what I needed for our frequent travel overseas. I have Nuvi 760 which I will be using for auto and foot tours of Europe.

We bought this for a trip to Europe and it worked fine on major highways at first. Then it started to scramble, we finally decided to reset everything and then it worked better.

In villages and cities, it did not work that well. Got us in the general vicinity, but took us down wrong way streets, and tried to get us to drive down pedestrian only avenues. When we didn't follow directions, it scrambled again.

Works better in US, but we already had that covered. This was specifically for Europe and it was not reliable. Plan to try it in Canada next week, because we know our way around there already. Just want to see if it works better than it did in France, Italy and Switzerland.

I was worried about buying this because some of the reviews. However if one follows the instructions that came with the gps and print out the manual, IT WORKS GREAT.

I ordered this along with my Garmin nuvi 765t and it never worked.

Thankfully, Amazon did it's usual superb job of replacing it with just a few mouse clicks.

When the replacement arrived it was of a much simpler design and worked just fine.

The original version I got had a slot in the back of the plug-in unit into which various plugs could be inserted to adapt it for the appropriate country/voltage/etc. My guess is that the connection between the adapter and the unit were not good and so it just didn't work.

The replacement unit which I received was made with the North American prongs already built in and no adapter was necessary for use here. The unit was packaged with adapters for UK and European use if needed. The just plug onto the NA prongs.

If you order this, see if you can determine which type will be sent to you or if you get the older-style version try to exchange it.

With its different adapters, this is an indispensable item for international travel with the Nuvi 270.

you will need one these kits for charging your Nuvi (although you can rely on the car 12v outlet, we found the unit works best when fully-charged) and especially for travel abroad. It's good quality, and the price is reasonable for what you get.

The adapter is very useful for people who use their Garmin GPS away from a car - hikers or cyclists. It provides power to charge the internal battery.

This adapter comes with the Garmin so I returned it for a refund. Nothing indicated this AC adapter was included with the Garmin GPS.

In addition to getting the good Garmin quality, I liked the additional universal A/C adaptors that came with it. It makes traveling out of country so much easier!

The Garmin power cord is a necessity for this product. Whether driving locally, long distance, biking or walking this is the only way to maintain a sure charge for this travel/mapping device. The car charger alone does not retain the memory of this GPS. Otherwise, it takes a long while for the Garmin to recharge if the battery is low. The external power cord should have been included in the original package. Without it I'd be lost......... (pun)

After having two cars with built in GPS I will never pay a car with it in it. It works better and easier than any I've ever seen, and the traffic extra is wonderful!!

Garmin A/C Power Cable 010-10723-00

I purchased this and didn't open it until we were packing the car for our move...and the darned thing doesn't even fit! It's NOT the plug shown nor is it for a Garmin Nuvi 760. Wasted the money, but should have looked soooner, my bad on that one.

I found that the cables that I had purchase were for wworld wide usage, this was a PLUS, to my purchase. I was not expecting this and I am a happy camper. Thanks to Amazon, I need not have to buy this when I travel.

I'm curious why Garmin doesn't include this A/C power cable with the purchase of the device. To charge the device takes a WHOLE lot of driving if you don't have it. If you commute long distances maybe that's acceptable, but for short commutes it takes forever to charge the unit. I can't see owning a Garmin without having the A/C charger - & for those who travel outside the U.S. the universal adapter plugs are a handy thing to have. This isn't an accessory, it's a necessity.

I bought this to use with a Garmin Nuvi 255. It works as advertised. I charge the Nuvi nightly to get a full charge the next morning - about 3.5 - 4 hours. I find this much more convenient that using a car AC adapter, and less of a distraction while driving.

Not much to review here. Charger works as it should. Charges a fully depleted battery on my Garmin 255W in little time. But there is one thing I wanted to add in case anyone else did the same thing I did:

The battery life on my unit is horrendous. I went on a 3-hour trip and for the last half-hour I had to rely on the GPS in my head, and my head isn't reliable; that's why I bought a GPS. To the point, I bought the Garmin A/C Power Cable so that I wouldn't have the dangling cigarette lighter cord in the way. I almost knocked the unit off the dash a few times while, for instance, reaching for the volume on the car stereo. So I figured buy this, charge the unit at home before I leave and no more dangling wires in the car. Now, unfortunately, I'm back to using the cigarette lighter adapter that came with the unit.

The AC adapter is great. With the Euro adapters is a good plus for
the traveler.
