Garmin Automotive Mount for nüvi

My Nuvi 350 came with a windshield mount. After about a month on the windshield, I had to take it off to move it to another car. When I went to pull it off, pieces of rubber ripped off and was stuck onto the windshield! The suction power obviously was never the same again after that. The GPS+mount would fly off when I accelarted too fast and I was worried that it would fly out the window! It was really a terrible mount.

I had been delaying purchasing a new mount, mostly out of laziness, but I decided to give this dash mount a try. When I received the mount, I first tried using the temporary sticker which is suppose leave minimal residue on the dash if you ever wanted to remove it. I really care about how my car looks so I decided to try this route first. However, the adhesive strength on the temporary sticker was definitely not enough to secure the GPS into place.

So the next day I tried the permanent sticker and that thing is stuck to my dash as if I used superglue. I really love how it looks and functions. You can quickly detach the arm and GPS from the base, allowing you to keep a lower profile when parked in public places.

If you are unhappy with the windshield mount and you don't mind having a permanent sticker going on your dash, I would definitely recommend this product.

I received the window mount with my Nuvi, but wanted the dash mount instead. The dash mount was easy to install and works great!

I had to buy a new NUVI mount as my original one broke after 6 months of infrequent use. The description of this mount made me think it was removable, but turns out you have to stick an adhesive on your dash. The package comes with two adhesives (one permanent, the other "removable")but the instructions don't specify which is which, so if you make the 50/50 mistake of putting the permanent adhesive on, you'll have a difficult time removing it. I returned the product to Amazon.

This package is not applicable to the Nuvi 660 unit.

The ball mount & sticky pads are o.k. but the interface connector is not compatible with the Nuvi 660. The interface does not match the 660 mounting features and the power connector doesn't match the cable that is shipped with the 660.

The concept of being able to easily move the unit from one vehicle to the next is not as convenient as you would expect.

I recently purchased Garmin 360, plus Amazon recomended additional accessories, vehicle power cable 010-10723-06 + carrying case 010-10723-02. These items ARE also part of the GPS kit, which I returned at my own cost as Amazon determined ordering them was my own fault, and as of today credit was not issued.
To add insult to injury, the included Garmin Automotive Mount for Nuvi (010-10723-04 ?) does NOT fit . Fortunately Garmin Product Support emailed me to replace same in 5-7 business days.

Incidently, the GPS works great with map updates although to update took for evvvvverrrrr

I used the adhesive-disk mount for my old c340, using the permanent adhesive disk, and got a new 350 and dash mount setup. I pulled on the old mount and it wouldn't budge. I took a wide wood chisel, inserted it under the "frame" of the mount, and the mount came off with the adhesive disk still attached. I had used alcohol to degrease the dash when I had mounted it. It came off clean with no residue on the dash. I've mounted the new 350 mount in the same spot, but if I hadn't used another disk mount, noone could tell there was ever a mount in the spot. I have a 2007 Saab and there is no truly flat spot on the dash, but this mount never moved in two years. Go for the permanent adhesive mount. It's cleaner than the temporary when you remove it.

Fantastic... this solves the only complaint I had for my Nuvi 350 - it kept falling off the windshield (suction cups wouldn't hold)... with this I can easily have a mount on my dashboard, put the Nuvi up when using, and take it down to keep it out of view

I bought this mount for my second car that already had an E-Z Pass and a Sirius radio mounted on the windshield. I used this to mount my Garmin Nuvi 360 on the dash. It is serving its purpose, but I prefer the windshield mount.

Watch when you order this. Description is at best confusing. It cost about $5.00 to send back and order the right equipment direct from Garmin.

This is an essential accessory for the Garmin GPS, the only thing that I don't get is why was it sold with the GPS unit? I know, duh, they make more money this way. But, they could charge more for it, can't they?

After following the instructions, unlike other people who reviewed this item poorly, It went on perfect and works like a charm. Designed for permanent or semi-permanent mounting - This mount is much less bulky than the window mount that comes with the Nuvi. Two adhesive pads come with the mount. One for semi-permanent and the other has a caution that it is very permanent. I started with the semi-perm but the mount fell off after a few hot days in Georgia. The permanent has been doing fine for weeks now and I have no problem recommending this mount. I have the Nuvi mounted low on my center console not on the top of my dash. It picks up a signal well and is out of obvious view

I have one of these in two of my cars. The Nuvi GPS provided suction cup mount has a tendancy of falling off the windshield every 4-5 days on hot (100 degree F) days. This probably happens because the center part of the windshield is not perfectly flat causing a less than perfect seal. This fixed mount attached (using the temporary sticky disk only)is an easy install and never falls off. I recommend it to all my friends and only hope Garmin includes it in future GPS inventions like they did on their older models.

The Garmin Nuvi comes with a windshield suction cup mount and not a dash mount. The suction cups (if left mounted in the sun) begin to stick to the window and are then ruined when you peel them off. They leave a black ring on the windshield and lose all suction ability. I have bought and ruined a few suction mounts and will be using dash mounts from now on. You must have a flat section of your dash for effective mounting.

This mount, or something similar, was included with my Nuvi 350.

The literature with the Nuvi says the adhesive can be very difficult to remove, so I'm giving it 3 stars because of that. I haven't actually used this mount because I didn't want adhesive all over my car's dash.

Want to clarify: If you have a Nuvi, the Nuvi 350 comes with a dashboard mount, so I don't know why you'd need to buy it separately. The Nuvi also comes with the windshield suction mount, both car and AC chargers, and a leather case. Unless you need two, don't order it for the Nuvi.

The only thing you'd need to buy separately, if you want one, is the friction mount. I have the one "for Nuvis" and it works great! It uses the bracket that comes with the Nuvi unit and did not need any additional part.

Given California law that forbids attaching anything to the windshield besides a transponder, this accessory is absolutely essential for me. My only gripe is that Garmin does not indicate on its website that you need both this part as well as the sandbag!

This is an excellent product to secure the Nuvi for easy accessibility to the driver.

I bought this after reading the user reviews raving that the temporary stickers works great.

Basically, the temporary sticker is useless. It doesn't even stick! Its more like a silly puddy then a adhesive for the car.

However, the permanent sticker worked well... It doesn't look too bad on my car since I have a black dashboard.

This is not the right mount for Nuvi 680.
It is possible to connect it with force, but the connector with the pins is to short compared to the one for the windshield mount.

Amazon suggested this as an accessory for the Garmin Nuvi 670, so I ordered it. It is impossible to place the Garmin unit onto the mount. This is an expensive mistake for me, as I paid shipping and duty (I live overseas, in Bermuda), and returning it is not inexpensive either. Reading other reviews, it looks like Amazon made the same mistake a lot of times. Don't buy this accessory unless you are absolutely sure it will work with your GPS model.

This product is very unforgiving. In our case, the disc wouldn't stick at all because we had applied Armor All to our dash a few weeks ago. The Armor All sure did a great job at rejecting the adhesive. Unfortunately the adhesive on the Garmin disc was rendered unuseable since it had been exposed.

I bought this thing thinking I can mount it to the top of my dash. My dash has a slight curve to it, but, it looked like there was a few flat spots where the base could mount. I already new the suction cup wouldn't work on my dash.

Didn't work using the temporary adhessive. The temporary adhessive didn't stick to the dash at all. Before installation, I did wash/dry the dash good, to avoid oils, dust and other containmenants from effecting the adhessive. Playing with the second adhesive disk, it appears I need to mount this thing on a perfectly smooth and flat surface. The permanent adhessive should have better luck because it's stronger and probably can stick with less surface contact between it and the dash, but, by then I found I didn't like mounting the unit on the dash afte all.

Beyond the base, the biggest disappointment with this thing is that the arm that attaches to the base and ends in a ball upon which you mount the Nuvi mounting plate is fixed and doesn't adjust like the suction cup arm that comes with the Nuvi. If it did, I could possibly mount the base in the little shelf below the radio, with the end of the arm sticking out far enough to mount the Nuvi (which actually could work with the suction cup and that hard disk that comes with the Nuvi). Only way to use the arm is mounted on top of a horizonntal surface, like your dash.

Using the arm with the bean bag (this little piece of plastic is REALLY expensive) sort of worked until I had to suddenly swerve one day. Came crashing down --- happened after about a week of driving.

This period was long enough though to convince me that I rather not mount the Nuvi on the dash. Mounting on the dash is great for visibility of the Nuvi screen and for hearing the bluetooth hands free setup. But, the glow of the Nuvi on my windsheild was too distracting.

In the end, I bought a custom dash mount for my car that costs me $60 (Proclip). Works great, and I wasted my money on the Garmin Auto Mount and bean bag.


Last negative: the quick release plate that connects to the suction cup that comes with the Nuvi has a microphone jack on it. The quick release plate that comes with the automotive mount doesn't. That sucks if you were thinking of using the auto mount in a second car.

I bought the automotive mount but it was not necessary. All the gear that you need to mount comes with the product.

We love this product, you must have get the Garmin Garmin Portable Friction Mount for Garmin GPS Units (010-10306-00)also. We purchased the Garmin Nuvi 350 Pocket Vehicle GPS Navigator and Personal Travel Assistant and the mount works wonderful. We love the GPS also, it is just wonderful. I really don't have anything bad to said about it. My brother-in-law purchase the same GPS and he love his also.

This comes with two pads - permanent and semi-permanent. The semi-permanent pad has a goo on the back and leaves residue when removed. What is worse is when you put it aside dust and other stuff in the car sticks to it. The manufacturer warns the permanent pad is permanent so I have not used it.

The mount works great but why didn't they include it? It is illegal to use a glass mount in some states and if you had an older Garmin that used the dash mount, this allows the nuvi to snap into that mount. Also, using the suction mount is a pain because the cord hangs down and looks bad. If you have a Nuvi, get this mount but complain to Garmin for not including it in the first place.

I read reviews regarding the window mount and how it sticks to the window when you try to take it off. So I bought the dash mount, installed it using the temporary adhesive mount and so far it has held just fine. The really hot summer days and really cold winter days will be the real test! Amazon shipping was way ahead of schedule. Got it in 2 days rather than the 5-7 days they told me I should expect.

An absolute must to have for the Nuvi- stable, non-slip, easy to use product; lets you place the Nuvi anywhere for easy viewing.

This mount was a definite upgrade from the suction mount that comes with the GPS. It is much more low-profile and you don't have the cord hanging in your way. My only complaint is that I originally used the "temporary" adhesive disk (it comes with a temporary and a permanent) just in case I wanted to remove it in the future. Even though it held well at first, after a few weeks it actually started peeling off the dash - and we're still not into the hot summer months. The good news is that the adhesive came off pretty easily without leaving stains/residue on the dash. I've since switched to the permanent adhesive disk and have had no problems at all.

This unit is much better than the window suction cup unit that comes with the Garmin. The only issue is removing the base unit from the dash. Will it damage the car surface? This remains to be seen.

I have read other reviews and they seem to be very positive. I tried to mount it on my dashboard and I couldn't get it to stick at all (I didn't try the permanent mount. I ended up returning it and getting the windshield mount). I have had very little problem with the windshield mount. Occasionally I had to put it back up.

The Automotive mount for the Garmin Nuvi was exactly what I was looking for. The simple latch and release clicks in place and I never have to worry about my Garmin falling off if I make too harsh a turn or stop abruptly. This is the mount they should include when you buy the machine! They shouldn't even sell the suction cup mount anymore!

This is necessary item if you want to use the Portable Friction Mount. The window mount that comes with the Nuvi doesn't into the friction mount.

This is a necessary component in order to use the friction mount. The combined cost can be pricey, but the automotive mount works well with the friction mount. I don't know why it's not sold as a combined kit for less money (--did I just answer my own question?).

It is rare that a product does exactly what it claims.

This mount brings my navaigation system closer to me and away from obstructing my view in the window. I used the "temporary" mounting strip as opposed to the "permanent" option, and it holds just fine to the top of my dashboard.

After I bought a NUVI my suction dash did not suck any more then I decided to use the Mount and the Portable Friction Mount 2 months ago. It does work and I think it is better for the visibility to have my NUVI on it.

Product works great. Exactly what I was expecting when I ordered.

This is a necessary part if you get the friction mount as it is not included. This clips into the friction mount and hooks into the back of the nuvi 360. It holds the gps with a firm grip and allows you to swivel it in different directions and works very good.

I bought this so that I can use my Nuvi in my cars and rental cars. Although the matching bean bag holder is pretty heavy, it was very convenient to use in a rental car in Europe and never slid or fell. Note that it must be used with the "bean bag holder" (to be bought separately and quite hard to find). The set up could be improved. The charger must be plugged at the back and the plug is hard to access on the mount. Also, I fear the mount is fragile if trying to remove it when its lock or lock it when its not properly inserted.
