Gipsy Kings - The Best of the Gipsy Kings

My header pretty much says it: their music is a celebration of life.
Good stuff.

I play this CD regularly in several situations: in my car, out on my friends' boat, while cleaning house and the days leading up to Cinco de Mayo. It is simple enough to be in the background during a dinner party and also fun enough to keep me moving. My favorites include "Djobi, Djoba", "Quiero Saber", "La Dona", "Baila Me", "Volare" and "Love & Liberte". The instrumental work is phenomenal and the raspy vocals are amazing. Even if you've never heard of the Gipsy Kings you should experience this CD.

This album is full of hits and when I got hooked on it , I did not know it was considered flamenco. Erase the old images of this genre and make way for the Gipsy Kings. This will be a must have for decades to come.

THE BEST OF THE GYPSY KINGS is FAN-TAB-U-LUS! It's music that sticks to your ribs and stays in your head. It makes you want to get up and dance and it certainly makes you want hear more of thir music.

I remember their hit "Bamboleo" back in the 80's...and decided to get this CD, thinking that that was the only song I would like. I was never a fan of the Gipsy Kings, but I am one now!!!! I can listen to their songs over and over, "Baila Me" is such an upbeat song, you cant help but want to dance. "Viento de Arena" must be in another language other than Spanish, cant understand a word of the song, but also one of my favorite.

The mix of traditional Flamenco guitars with a modern beat, is perfection in itself.

I guess to each his own, but this disc is breathtaking, soothing, emotional, fun, spicy, and many other thing all in one. My daughter loves their music as does everone I know. It is great for every age. I would rate this even more, if possible. Full of soul!!

A fabulous album- all the hits included, great to listen to with a glass of wine in the evening! Everytime i listen to this CD I find myself wanting to dance around the living room and sing along.I took this album with me to a recent trip to Spain and brings back wonderful happy memories everytime i listen to it.

Beautifull rythms, I like this the best because of viento del arena.

If this is the "Best" then I definately don't want to buy anymore.

I was expecting something along the lines of Strunz and Farah, after hearing only one tune on the radio. What a disappointment! There is that one song, it is clearly different from the rest of the tracks. And thankfully, it contains no Kings vocals, which are as grating on the ears as pigs in heat! Of course, there are some reveiwers, as reflected by all the stars following this album around, who relish this stuff.
If you are new to these guys, beware! Taste the sauce first on someone else's dime before you buy.

I've been listening to this CD for the past 10 years and it never loses its appeal. The energy, the raw/rough emotion in the voices, the fabulous rhythms, the intricate guitar work - all of them combine to make music that makes you want to move every part of your body. If you want to feel upbeat or energized while you drive, I suggest you play this at top volume in the car (hopefully with the windows closed); reserve the dancing until your feet are on the ground again. Just saw the Gipsy Kings in concert last night at Radio City and was lucky enough to hear them play 3 or 4 songs from this CD - the ENTIRE audience was on its feet, dancing, singing along and roaring with approval.

This is great music to listen to while you smoke fine cigars. Ahh, the good life!

I gave this as a gift because I have it and I knew the recipient was going to love all the music. I was right. It's a great CD

I love this CD! We listen to it in our home all of the time! My kids enjoy all of the songs. Gypsy Kings are a great group with a wonderful sound. You'll want to get up and dance with some of the songs.

This was everything that I was looking for. The album has all the songs that I wanted - only well known songs.
Strongly recommend this for the lovers of this kind of music

In general the product is fine, including packaging. However I feel that the sound is not very good.

I play it over and over and over - it is great music for getting you into a wonderful and happy mood!!!!

Nicholas Reyes has the absolutely perfect voice for this music...a fantastic collection of energetic rhythms to keep you moving!!

This cd adds pizazz to a regular day

I sometimes think I was a gispy in a past life, because this music speaks to my very soul. For many years I have listened to and felt the intensity of the Baliardo and Reyes families (Gispy Kings) and the passionate and raw talent they embody.
This album is some of the best they have to offer. The deep emotion of Trista Pena can make you cry, the rousing Bamboleo and the "you can't get it out of your mind" Baila Me.
There is a throaty earthy quality to the music that gets under your skin. If you have never heard them, or want to sample the best of their music try this CD. I would say first go to the last song #18 Medley and you will know what they are about. That is in my opinion the best cut on the CD. As for my least favorite, Escucha Me , has too much of a reggae edge for my taste. However overall I am passionate about this album, and passionate about the Gispy Kings. Enjoy!

Great release! I love to listen to this when I need a change of pace or something to pick me up! A great band and a great way to get to know them if you don't own most everything they've released!

This CD was a bargain at this price! Unlike previous reviewers, I feel that the music on the two different CDs is well-arranged. The first CD is more uptempo, while the second CD is a bit more minor-keyed, a litter darker. Both are excellent! I highly recommend it.
