You HAVE to do Pull-Ups if you want to be strong, sexy, and stable
Pull-Ups are a MUST to a strong, sexy, and stable body. They are the best exercises for your upper body strength, especially your back, lats, and biceps.
There are so many variations of pull-ups you can do, from chin ups to pull-ups, from narrow grip to wide grip, and from middle to side.
If you live near a park, just use those natural hanging surfaces to do your pull-ups. If you don't have access to anything sturdy that you can hang onto, then invest in a pull-up bar.
Go to a fitness store and test out the different brands of pull-ups. See which one works for you, and buy that one.
If you don't feel the burn after 10 repetitions, you are doing the exercise wrong. In all exercises, it is the eccentric portion of the exercise that builds muscle. Do the exercise in a smooth, controlled fashion with a 3 concentric and 6 eccentric count. Squeeze at the peak of the motion to get that extra pump.
As in all exercises, make sure to keep your wrists straight and check your posture with these seven vital points: feet hips-width apart and pointed straight ahead; knees slightly bent; pelvis at perfect middle, as if you are sitting at a bar stool; stomach tight, but not flexed; chest straight and aligned on top of ribs; shoulders parallel to ribs; and neck straight on top of body.
My husband uses this a lot. It is nice quality and works well! I would buy it again!
Bar does not extend. Too short to fit in any of my doorways. DO NOT BUY.

For 20 bucks, can't beat it!
I've had the bar up for about 2 months and its holding up pretty well. Installing the brackets was easy and simple. My only cons about the bar is that the hand grips start degrading with use so you might want to use gloves after a while. Also it can be difficult sometimes to take the bar out of the wall brackets, but besides that great buy.
I basically payed for a metal bar. The product was defective, having only on piece of metal. This meant that it did not telescope and only stayed one size, about as wide as me. It was too small to fit in any doorframe, since the size was not adjustable.
Do not get this product.
I got a bar from Sport's Authority and it works fine. And if it breaks, I can always take it back unlike this bar.

Wish I had bought this years ago!! GREAT! 2 thumbs up!
I have had my chin up bar for over a year now, I initially bought it to encourage my "couch potato" kids to challenge themselves or each other! Well it has accomplished that & MORE! My boys now are a LOT leaner & toned, this was an easy "fun" way to get into becoming physically fit! When you see it everyday it is an easy "prompting" to see how many you can now do! We started with some of the kids only being able to hang on it, after reaching it standing on a stool! The youngest kids did NOT want to be left out of the FUN! They even got me, old mom to try my muscles out with it! I am considering buying more for each kids bedroom door, as whenever they see someone doing it, they all have to wait for turns to see if they can out do the other kids (this takes some time as I have "MANY" children!!) SEVEN, & 5 are boys! :.)
The ONLY "CON" is that due to soooo much use it has pushed apart the molding in the door's frame where it is installed, that will be easy enough to remedy (knocking it back in place) IF we ever go to sell the house.
It is a small enough price to pay for my boys "new found" muscles & has spurred them onto all types of other physical conditioning competing. The latest is seeing who can do a "PLANK" the longest! Mom is holding the lead thus far at a consistent 7 minutes with an occasional 8! But ONLY on an EMPTY stomach first thing in the A.M.! LOL I HIGHLY recommend this inexpensive bar for yourself or a friend, it makes a GREAT gift!
Just added this to my workout routine. Haven't done chin ups in at least 5 years, but it was nice to get back into it. This is easy to install and pretty sturdy, so I'm pleased with it for the price!
Once the item was shipped it arrived quickly and there were no problems with the product. I put the chin up bar up the day it came and it is still stable even without using the mounting equipment.

Doesn't fit 24" Doorways!!!
I purchased this because I have only one door in my place and it measures exactly 24" wide on the interior. But, when I got this one in the mail and tried to set it up, it was at least 1 full inch too wide. Therefore, one can only assume that they are lying on the product description. Gave it to a friend, though, and it's great if you have a standard sized doorway.
ITS NICE N EASY TO INSTALL, GR8 PRODUCT FOR NICE PRICE GOT THE ITEM IN 3 DAYS OF ORDERING

Not same as the old model
I bought one in 2006 and it was the one in the picture with the round mounting heads that nicely hides the screws, and the padding was thick and comfortable. The new one with the hexagon shape mount sucks, it now has thin padding that is wrapped on by velcrose. The mounting pieces on the new model isn't totally flat and doesn't flush against the door frame. The uncovered mount also doesn't hide the screws and very unsightly. I was impressed with the original product and was buying another to mount upstairs. The company has cheapened their product to save a few bucks but they have absolutely lost me as customer.

Sturdy and reliable, but sometimes uncomfortable.
The GoFit Chin-Up Bar is very sturdy, having been made of metal and a bit of foam to make hanging more comfortable. However, despite the addition of the thin layer of foam, it is still uncomfortable to use when used in succession. It's understandable, since it is made of metal, just a heads up.
Also, the screws are a bit short for my taste, so with a recommendation from a fellow reviewer, I replaced them with longer screws.
Besides that, the placement of the foam itself is good and can be used as a marker for which exercise you want to use. For example, if you put your hands on the foam, you'll effectively be in a stance with your hands outside your shoulders. Put them inside, and your hands will be approximately within your shoulders. This is very good when planning your exercises.

Great bar, very sturdy
It wasn't the same bar in the picture, but i'm fine with that, because the bar and brackets are very sturdy and hold me up great. It helps to have a drill when you put in the brackets otherwise it will take a while, but with one, it only took 5 minutes. This is a great bar and i recommend it to anyone.

GoFit Chin-UP Bar
For the price paid I am satisfied. The only complaint I have is that it is hard to fit between your door jamb because of the moldings in the jamb. Easy to assemble, easy to put up. Seems sturdy. Very convenient, I have used it quite a bit. I would recommend this product.

Not what's pictured.
Do not order this item, it's not the one in the picture. Others have already pointed out that now it comes with odd square brackets that do not properly fit door frames. After my first mounting, the bar was a nightmare to get in and out, as well as chewed up the back side of my door!
I unmounted the brackets, and used a Dremel to cut away the pointless side spin pieces. I do not know why they are there? The bar is now much simpler to get in and out and you can close the door with out it being scraped up badly.
I do not recommend this product. It can be made usable, but it should come usable.

Product Longer Than Advertised
The product description advertises that this bar can accommodate door frames measuring 24" to 32" wide, however the product itself actually measures just shy of 25" when completely compacted. If you have a standard 24" wide bathroom door, this product will be of no use to you.

Stable bar, but have some decent tools
This bar requires 5 medium-sized wood screws on either side. As a result, it's very stable, but the installation would be a bit taxing if you only had hand tools.
This pull up bar arrived quickly and installed easily. My son put it in the doorway of his bedroom and uses it all the time. It is out of the way but conveniently close. It was a good buy.
I put this up on my doorway and it's great. You do have to use screws (they have space for about 5 on each side) but you can cover/fill those later on pretty easily with putty and paint. The bar itself is really comfortable and can hold alot of weight (atleast 300).

Nice bar; awkward installation.
This bar works exactly as you'd want it to. It's fairly easy to install, but there's weird metal tabs on the brackets whose function isn't entirely clear. Are they supposed to help hold the bar in place? In any event, it's well worth the money and time to install in your bedroom door, especially if you're like me and hate going to gyms. My guns are huge.

Not what I Ordered
The model pictured here looks nice, but the model I received has very annoying square shaped mounts that will not fit most door-frames. It's also very hard to get the bar in and out of the mounts. Does not work anywhere near as easily as the model picured here with the round mounts. Hope I'm the only one that had the "switched-out" product.
In college I had a chin-up bar that you twisted to tighten into a doorframe and I thought that's what this was as well. Turns out you need a drill (which I don't have) and you have to drill into your doorframe, which I can't do since I live in an apartment. What an absolute waste of money. If you live in a home and you own a drill, buy it, for the rest of us it's completely useless.

Service a MainStreetThings Priority
GoFit Chin-Up Bar I am rarely motivated to take the time to write reviews. It usually requires either a really terrible or really terrific experience to inpire me. In this case, I am pleased to say it was a terrific experience which has so moved me to do so. Won't go into all the gory details, just suffice it to say that if there was ever any doubt that a particular express shipper--who shall remain unnamed--could find a way to bend a steel bar in a most extraordinary way then this particular shipper's employees did it. What truly BENT me, however, was the fact they then proceeded to slap the GoFIt Chin Up Bar they had admittedly and amazingly damaged into another box and sent on to me rather than returning it to MainStreetThings. However, I am very pleased to say that it took no more than a quick email to Ron at MainStreet and within a matter of a couple of days I had a replacement--AT NO ADDITIONAL COST!! AND, I didn't have to hassle with sending the damaged one back either!!! Very rarely do I experience such quality customer service--and when I do, it is certainly worth five stars in my book. Only wish more vendors would take a leaf out of this one's book.
I just purchased this bar for about $26 with shippin and handling. This bar is awesome. I didnt have any problems with the screws or nothing in fact they worked perfect for me. The wrong item is pictured. which believe it or not im very happy thats what it was. At first i was lyk "what the heck" but the new one has thicker mounts and instead of 3 screw holes and thin metal around is I got 5 screw holes and 4 very sturdy brackets. (2 for pull ups 2 for situps and pushups). This is a quality product and for the price you cannot beat it. Dont stutter on buying this its a good one.

DON'T ORDER THIS PRODUCT
The wrong item is pictured. The chin up bars with the rubber stoppers on each end are no longer in production. However, Amazon and Go-Fit have failed to update their pictures in a timely manner and will send you a chin up bar with hexagonal ends that can only be mounted using the installation hardware. I ordered what I thought was pictured and received the wrong item and was then forced to shell out $15.85 to send the thing back. Don't order this item and don't expect courtesy or promptness from the customer service department either.

Love it, Love it, Love it
Something about doing pullups makes me feel really good about myself. This bar is perfect. It's comfortable on the hands, extremely sturdy, and well priced.. what more could you ask for!?
Good product, great price. My door jam was technically too small in width, but moving the screw fixed it. I have not experienced any sliding. I am 210 pounds, so maybe that is why. Sit up pegs are great too!

Excellent Product!
I had none of the above mentioned problems with mine although i didn't recieve the one pictured (either they changed the bar or i got lucky). It has hexagonal ends so there is no spinning problem and the brackets mount with 5 screws instead of three. If you have a problem with the screws it will most likely be user error. If you drill a pilot hole and properly screw the screws in they will not strip. I am very satisfied with the sit up/chin up bar.
Quality exceeded my expectations. Both pull up and sit up mountings were actually sturdy metal brackets rather than the plastic as indicated by the description. Shipped and arrived on time.

Demand quality hardware
I am so frustrated with this product's junk mounting screws. One screw head came off half way into my door and now it's there permanently. The other screw heads all stripped and I had to remove them with pliers and buy quality ones at the store. The actual bar is fine, but the installation hardware is junk, so buy it knowing you should go out and get your own screws to mount this in your door way. A sign of the times of the quality we are getting. Not a big deal, but frustrating when you expect to get something you can mount when you receive it. I am writing the company, not for a refund or anything, but to demand better quality, even if I have to pay a few more bucks for better screws it's worth it.
I couldn't figure out how it would fit between the door frame so I mounted it on the wall. It's hard to remove from the wall when you are finished.

Great bar, cheap screws.
I'm impressed with the construction of the bar and it provide a good range of motion. My only complaint is the screws that came with this bar had cheap heads that rounded off when I first tried to screw it into my doorframe.
Strong, sturdy, and easy to install. Having a pull-up bar in the doorway makes it easy to stretch or do some pull-ups anytime.

Wonderful exercise equipment
I have nothing to say besides the GoFit Chin-Up Bar is an excellent workout equipment because it allows you to work out otherwise unworkable muscle groups without membership at a gym. Combine these with a set of dumbells and you can hit virtually every muscle group desired. The only problem I had with it was that I have zero access to a powerdrill. But I believe it is safe to have the design require a powerdrill anyway.

Quality product but not a substitute for a self-standing pullup bar
I bought this bar because of the excellent reviews and because I wanted to be able to do pull ups in my home. The bar is very sturdy and the grips are comfortable. It was easy to install, you just screw some brackets into your door frame. The problem is that you can't really do an effective push up unless you are 5' tall. I mounted it about 4" from the top of the door. At 6' tall, I have to bend my knees to do a pull up, then have to worry about hitting my head on the top of the door jamb. It was uncomfortable and I stopped using after a couple days, because I was exerting too much effort into trying to stay out of the way of the door jamb or keep my feet off the floor.
I don't think this is a problem with this bar, but with almost all pull up bars mounted this way. I would highly recommend that people over 5' tall look for a door-mounted bar that is pushed out and up from the door frame rather than one that mounts on the inside. Either that, or a full-standing pull up bar.

Good product for the price
I was not disapointed when I've received the GoFit Chin-Up Bar. That said, there are a couple of drawbacks:
At a span of 30" (max span claimed is 32") the padded grabs are not centered. Although my weight is 150 lbs. (max claimed is 250 lbs.)there is a slight bent of the bar.
I recommend it. although it'll be nice if they figure out how to make the handles wider

Very stable, worth the money, one problem though...
Very stable, you never feel like it is about to give. Use wood screws instead of the screws provided when you are mounting. The downside is that the bar pushes between the door frame and it has created a small space between the top and side of the door frame. May just be poor construction of my house, but worth noting.

GoFit Chin-Up Bar Works Well
So simple a teenager can put it up! No, really, the design of the chin-up bar is wonderfully simple. The mounting brackets are thick gauge; three screws per side hold the brackets firmly to the door frame. The brackets are deep enough that if the bar loosens during use (not likely), you'd notice the rattle long before any danger of it slipping from the brackets.
I'm currently using this bar without the permanent mounting brackets. Although its suggested not too, I have had no slips so far. I got it at a great price and its a wonderful product.

Can't beat the price!
After reading all the positive comments about the Go-Fit chin up bar, I decided to try it out. I placed the order and it came not even two days later. =)
I was a little worried about the issue with the brackets coming loose and not being of the best quality, but as soon as I opened the package it was quite clear that Go-Fit had upgraded their brackets section). The brackets are very sturdy and also feature a few locking bits attached. But their is a slight problem, I tried to remove the bar from the brackets and it's seemingly impossible to do. I tried every which way and the bar would not come free. This could be a problem for some people who need to remove it after use.
Other than that, the product is great! It's very sturdy and is made of very durable materials. It comes with neoprene grips that both prevent slipping from the bar as well as absorbing the sweat accumulated on your palms.
Overall, this is a great product for anyone who wants a simple yet effective tool to add to your workout at home. And of course, you can't beat the price!

Good concept, but not ideal in practice.
These fit between the door jambs pull up bars are a good concept for an economical way to get pull ups in your home exercise routine. However I find the conditions just too cramped to enjoy doing pull ups. It is much more fun and think easier to do pull ups if you are hanging with your feet off the ground and not worried your going to bang your head on a door jam. Unless you are very short (or your doors are very high) these bars are too low and you have to bend your knees to do the pull ups. Personally I don't like that as much and I find myself wishing I had bought a self standing pull up station.
So far this bar has been great. It is very sturdy and comfortable to grip. You really do need a very solid doorway to drive the screws into, but if you're careful to set it up properly, you shouldn't have any trouble. One disadvantage is that the bar can untwist during using it, so you simply have to make sure it is securely twisted into place every so often. Overall, one of the best chin-up bars on the market.
Perfect for my dorm room. haven't had any problems. If your a student or an aspiring Marine who has too much work to get to the gym this is perfect.

Works as excpected
Works as excpected, but sometimes I have to re-tighten the bar in the middle of my workout.
Works out well. Easy to install but I would use stronger and longer screws than what it come with. It has helped out my workout a lot. A good buy.
This chin up/pull up/ sit-up bar is much better than I expected. First of all you can also do sit ups with it(it holds your feet down under the bar)which I didn't even know. Secondly you can close the door in whatever position it is in. Also, I am 6'5" tall and i have not hit my head on it yet while it has been in my normal sized doorway and I don't hit my knees on the floor while i am doing the pull ups etc. I highly recommend this product if you are looking for a quality product at a good price and want to get stronger arms and abs. Also, Installation was very easy and removing the bar only takes a few seconds because all you have to do is unscrew a few full rotations and it can be put away out of sight, however the mounting brackets are kind of ugly though without the bar in position. Other than that this product is great.
