[+] 8.0 great game
This is the first guitar hero game I have ever played. Great game, plenty of challenge. Just wish it had more music from earlier rock years.

[+] 2.0 age appropriate games
I ordered this game for my granddaughter who was turning 10. When I got the box and looked at it I decided that it really seemed inappropriate for her age. The tatooed, pierced singers on the box and the warning - at that point - that the words were sexually explicit were more than I could deal with for a just turning 10 year old. I wish there had been some sort of heads up in the description. I couldn't really say how much fun the game was because I didn't give it to her.

[+] 10.0 Great Product
I bought this as a birthday gift for a family member. It was delivered in a timely fashion by Amazon with no damage.

The game was easy to assemble and learn to play. I only wish that they would create a Guitar Hero: Van Halen, Def Lepard or Rolling Stones edition. I am sure those are to follow.

I highly recommend it.

I love this. It was either this or DDR. My girl and i would play this more, because it's fun and a little less active. I'm thinking about getting the Aerosmith version.

[+] 8.0 GH3 for the Wii
By now, especially in reading the other reviews, you know what this game is about. So, on to my experiences with it...

This game is quite fun, plain and simple. Granted, if you've learned guitar, you might need to "unlearn" it to an extent, but of course you're not here to play a guitar, really, but to play a video game -- complete with button timing and accuracy. In this, GH3 succeeds quite well. Graphics might not be world-beater, that's for sure, but I didn't get a Wii so I could have PS3 graphics. That's why I got a PS3. The graphics are workable, and for the most part not distracting.

The song selecion is good, too -- almost all the regular songs are fun to play (exceptions are due to personal taste, as we all have our opinions on this). The bonus songs are almost exclusively from the past few years. The older songs all hit the mark perfectly, but the newer ones are very hit and miss. Still, you don't need to play them to progress in the game.

The downsides? Alas, not all of the songs are original recordings. That gets a big minus in my book. The boss battles could've been far better, but are passable, with one exception. Tom Morello's "I can make funny sounds with my guitar" battle is distracting and dull. I can get through it fine but only on mute -- and a guitar game where mute not only helps but soothes your ears is not a good thing. I know the battles have been tweaked for GH World Tour, and good for that, but between the covers and this aspect, this game loses a star.

However, I've been playing this game for a good many months and replayability is still there. A solid purchase.

[+] 10.0 Love it!!!
I LOVE this game! It has great songs, most of which everybody should know. It's alot of fun and easy to play! If you don't know what you do here it is:
Pretty much when the little circle note lines up with the other circle you press down the color of the note and then you strum. That's pretty much what you do, you can play career to unlock songs. And there is free play but you can only play which ones you unlocked or bought (with money earned from Career). And if you have two guitars you can play two player.

[+] 8.0 Neat Game
I purchased the game for my 12 year old son. He loves it and his 8 year old sister loves to watch him play. She also sings the songs. Unfortunately, not all of the songs should be sang by an 8 year old but that's probably why it's rated "T" for teens! Overall, it's a fun game.

[+] 10.0 Lots of fun, even if you're an old fogie
I bought this for my son-in-law. I decided to try it and had a blast. It's not as easy as it looks, and the songs are great for baby boomers. Lots of laughs.

[+] 10.0 A Game made for Metalheads and others of course .
This game rocks. If I were to compare it to something I was famliar with from the 80s it kind of reminds me vaguely of the Simon game you follow a color pattern and have to keep up with it. However with a guitar controller and cool rock songs. These are very innovative games as well as fun. It seems pricey at first but its so worth the 89 bucks I paid for it just for what you get outta it. You have so many options with Wi-fi, Career mode and for us noobs a "blushes with embarassement" there is even a tutorial and a practice mode haha. For us noobs and "older" guitar hero players I am in my 30s so it will be quite a learning experience but I enjoy it. It has to be the most fun for the wii so far. I can't wait to see other titles that will becoming along. I had the choice to get this or the Aerosmith one with the guitar. I chose this I like to have a variety to chose from that way. I may down the road also pick up the Aerosmith one as well as I tend to be a bit of a collector and horder when it comes to things .I like the design of the guitar controller, the stickers they give you. The ability if you want to customize the guitar by ordering other faceplates. The songs they have on the game are ones I am famliar with both metal and hard rock some are kind of new to me I haven't heard. Its a good game for developing good cordination as well. Its just a rockin game and you'd have to pick it up don't shun at the price believe me while its up there and to us having to pay almost 5 bucks a gallon for gas it can be pricey but I guess if you invest in this game you won't be sorry you did its so worth it being able to play a guitar in your own living room and rock out to the songs you grew up with.

Thank you so much for all your attention and fast delivery. Guitar Hero III Legends Of Rock was a great gift for my grand kids. My daughter priced the same item at some of the department stores and found that their prices were way higher than Amazon. Amazon is the only way to shop for all my needs, and the delivery is outstandingly fast. Once again, thanks, Ed Chargualaf

We have had so much fun with this that we sent it as a gift to friends of ours. They too are having a blast with their teenage kids. This has been great party entertainment too. I only wonder how the young adults catch on so fast and know these songs so well.

[+] 10.0 Great Game
I've already been sold on the quality of the Guitar Hero family of games. Good Songs - no problems with the guitar - high replay value. The only con to getting the Wii version is the lack of downloadable content. If you want to be able to download more songs try the Xbox 360 version.

[+] 10.0 Great for when you are bored
My husband bought this for me because I was going to be laid up for a while, and needed something to do, instead of just sitting around. That was a huge mistake. You can't play this game just sitting. If you are like me, you have to really get in to the game, standing and moving, arching your back, and moving your legs. I have tried it sitting, but I can do it much easier if I use my thumbs instead of my fingers, but it is not as much fun. overall, this is a great game, if I cold only get as good as my 11 year old grandson, who is on expert level.

[+] 10.0 Who doesn't want to be a rock god?
As a former clarinet player, I've always secretly wanted a chance to have an admiring crowd scream my name as I rock out on a wicked solo. Good ol' jazz band never gave me that chance, but Guitar Hero 3 definitely has! This game is one of the most fun games I have ever played, and I highly recommend GH3 to anyone, whether they have a musical background or not.

Pros
- The song list is fantastic, a great and diverse mix of classic rock and newer rock.
- Most (if not all) of the songs are fun to play regardless of genre due to the awesome guitar parts. My favorite song to play turned out to be "Stricken" by Disturbed (a metal song), and I am definitely NOT a metal fan...
- The actual guitar controller is great. Compared to the guitar for Rock Band and the Nyko Frontman controller, the Activision guitar for GH3 is by far the best to play (both the fret buttons and the strum-bar are the most responsive of the three devices).
- Bonus songs are awesome - I didn't know any of the bands for the bonus tracks, but every single song had an interesting and fun guitar part
- A good challenge, even for people who are musically inclined. The jump in difficulty between "medium" and "hard" modes is especially steep - but hey, it wouldn't be as fun if you didn't have to work at it!
- Great play controls - the video and audio are synchronized very well, and Activision did a great job transcribing guitar parts faithfully. I really did feel like I was actually playing "Cliffs of Dover"...
- Fun fun fun game to play over and over again...

Cons
- Graphics are pretty weak. The crowd consists of two or three individual "people" repeated 10x or so to build a crowd of 20-30. I felt like I was back playing "Baseball Stars" on the original Nintendo, where the "crowd" consisted of two repeated "people" performing synchronized movements...
- Boss battles are not fun at all. At least they let you "give up" and move on after losing three times in a row.
- No downloadable content

Overally, this is one of my favorite video games of all time. I've never gotten tired of playing GH3, and it is a fantastic game to play with friends. Highly recommended for all...

[+] 8.0 5 for the guitar, 3.5 for the game.
So far, every game in Guitar Hero has been immensely addictive, but each has had its own flaws: the first had a decent musical selection with fairly good covers, but the clunky Hammer-on/Pull-off system for fast notes ruined the experience on higher difficulties. Guitar Hero II fixed this problem, but was comprised mainly of poor-quality cover versions of great songs.

Enter Guitar Hero III. Most of the music tracks are now master recordings, but the art direction and the layout of the song charts have suffered under the franchise's change in developers. On the Wii, this is especially noticeable because of the system's inability to process graphics above the resolution of 480p. Fortunately for the game, this doesn't significantly detract from the experience, because you'll be keeping your eyes glued to the note chart too much to pay any sizable attention to the background graphics.

The game's difficulty curve is also one step forward and one step back--having played both Guitar Hero II and III, I can safely say that the transition from Medium to Hard difficulties will be a lot smoother for most people, as Medium now introduces Hammer-on sequences early and often; this will be beneficial to casual players who want to alternate between Medium and Hard most of the time when they play, as the only major obstacle they will have to overcome is learning the fifth fret button. However, Hard and Expert difficulties suffer from severe balancing issues--song difficulty remains fairly lenient until it hits a brick wall 80% into the game.

Battle mode is another case-in-point of positive and negative traits: while the concept sounds good on paper, attack powerups will almost always kill a player instantly on Hard or Expert, and will almost never have an affect on a player on Easy or Medium. It would have been a good idea to put a handicap on these power-ups so that their duration is reduced for players on these higher difficulties. Also, I didn't enjoy being forced into playing these battles in Career Mode--especially the final boss, because of the match's rigor compared with the rest of the songs on the same difficulty level.

The one immensely positive thing about Guitar Hero III, though, is the redesigned Les Paul controller--virtually anyone who has played the previous two titles can attest to the fact that the new one has a stronger strum bar and buttons, a more sensitive whammy bar, and is just overall much better than the instruments for Guitar Heroes I and II.

I bought this for my husband for Father's Day and it has been a big hit! I am no gaming expert and I look to other people's reviews before buying something like this and in my amateur opinion this game has been worth every penny! The sounds, picture and hardware with the game are all wonderful. If you like music and have been known to play air guitar on occasion, then buy this and enjoy.

This has been a great game to add to our small collection of Wii games. It is something that is fun to play and fun to watch. My kids have a bunch of the songs memorized, and they beg to play it. It is a big timewaster, so it makes me crazy some days, but most video games are timewasters, I guess! Great game, great fun!!

[+] 8.0 Ham it up with the kids...
If you have some rhythm, then this game can be great fun for you and the kids. The music is old school, yet the kids still like it. The Guitar is a little small and the keys are too close together for my taste, well, I am an adult. I do wish that it would allow for multiple players (singing or drums), such as you see with Rock Band. However, it is still a fun game.

[+] 8.0 GH 3 - ultra fun!
writing this under the mrs. account but what the heck... this game is loads of fun. I was able to beat the EZ pretty quickly averaging between 92 - 99% in accuracy - i think being able to touch type helps and i do play a little EZ acoustic guitar which i have sitting beside my GH3 les paul!

i just started intermediate 2 days ago (i was playing this for about 5 days total now)and at time you do feel like you're playing music... the illusion is there and the songs are very cool... only a few songs on there i didnt' like, for instance, Dead Kennedy's Holiday in Cambodia - who wants to hear a song about that tyrannical leader Pol Pot...

the programmers got it right on.. it is fun -- for those who want to be a rock star but never had the chance...

they should make a whole game devoted to metallica.. that would be fun... i can hear Enter Sandman right now...!

i was skeptical but it has become quite addictive.. i'm going over to my friend nanci's to battle and Co-op in GH3 tomorroow night!

[+] 8.0 Great game, hope it works with Rockband
I borrowed this game from a friend and had to get my own copy. Much more challenging than the same levels on Rockband, but would be nice to have the optional drums and singing. Rumored that it won't be compatible with Rockband so I'm not sure I'm willing to invest in either down the road until the compatibility issues get resolved. Still rocks.

Well I guess I'm more of a Mario Kart or Karaoke fan... so this game isn't as much fun as I've anticipated it to be since EVERYONE I know who has this raves about it so much... I guess if you rather sing or drive, it might be a bit boring to have this game lol... I've had it for a couple of weeks now and I've turned it on 2 times.

[+] 10.0 Guitar Hero for Wii
I can't even begin to describe how fun this is! I initially bought it for my 13 year old son as a birthday present. However, I find I am having as much fun on it as he is (though I am not nearly as good)!!!! The entire family enjoys Guitar Hero. We had to purchase a second guitar so that we could "battle" and create bands! I hope that there will be several more music releases for Guitar Hero! Strongly recommend for young and old alike (not that I am "old"--I am just a mom who is "young at heart")!

Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock Bundle

I'm always concerned about buying wii games that might be either too young or too old for the entire family, but no matter your age you can have fun with this game. I played this game for the FIRST TIME a week ago at a friends house. I was thinking this was just a fancy simon says game.

Well I was blown away. It hooks you in with it's easy controls ! And the game is so much fun, even if you stink, you will still enjoy it.

I bought the game right after and have been playing non-stop. Controls are great, song choices are great, it's just a lot of fun.

But I never took anyone elses word for it, I had to try it to be hooked.

So trust me, go and TRY THIS GAME!

[+] 8.0 PICK IT!
This is a great game for folks of all ages. I would definately recommend if you are looking for a challenging game which uses hand-eye coordination (a good ear helps as well). Only downfall I would say is for youngsters, it can be a bit overwhelming with the graphics.

[+] 8.0 Great Experience... Questionable comparable value...
I've had Guitar Hero III for the Wii since the game was released and there is no question that it is a favorite in my apartment. This does not mean, however, that I would tell anyone else to purchase the game - mostly because there are other options.

There is NO advantage to buying GHIII for the Wii over any other system. In fact, the Wii is the *worst* system to buy this great game for because *so far* there are no downloadable tracks - among other annoyances.

See, if you own a PS2, you could buy GHIII... as well as all of the other Guitar Hero games... as well as Rock Band - all translating to a great value for this giant plastic guitar that is otherwise useless.

The same applies for the PS3, XBox or 360... although they all have varying degrees of other game availability.

Even the PC version of GHIII has more options for the guitar controller outside of the single game experience.

To be more concise, the long-term value of the game has to do with the amount of available music tracks to keep the variety healthy, as well as the amount of other similar games that use the same expensive controller. Out of all 6 options, the Wii has the least available tracks and the least available games. Period.

[+] 10.0 So fun you can't put it down! Addicting!
I bought this as a birthday present for my husband (32) and he cannot put it down. Granted, it doesn't teach you how to play, but it helps you with rhythm and hand/eye coordination. The song selection gets better as you improve and its great for parties and entertaining since anyone and everyone can do it! The graphics are a bit weird, but you quickly get over it as you begin to play! Definitely worth the price!

[+] 6.0 Guitar Hero III is fun but.....
Can someone tell me why in this day and age that the designers didn't think of the left handed people in the world. The guitar (for all the systems) is designed for the right handed person. And nowhere on the box does in say that. I hear, " just flip it over there's no difference! There is a difference, it's upside down. The whammy bar is on top and the rounded edges of the chords are on top. I get to press the square edge and the fingers do no move as freely over the square edge as they do on the rounded side. So were the lefty's invisible on the day this game was thought up? The game is fun, but I would like it more if I could get a left handed guitar.

I love that it's a wireless guitar. It makes rocking out more fun. The assembly was very quick and easy. I would recommend this game to other wii players.
