[+] 2.0 Motor broken in 10 months
I thought Hoover was a good name. Wrong. This Flair vacuum lasted 10 months. The brush motor is broken and costs as much as the original vac to replace. This is a waste of money. I'm staying away from Hoover products.

[+] 10.0 Hoover Flair Bagless Upright Stick vacuum S2220
After thoroughly reviewing all brands, makes and models online, in consumer reports magazine, in customer reviews and physically looking at them in the stores, I chose this lightweight bagless upright and have not been disappointed. The value for the money is top-notch. It is not a cheap looking product either, as I looked at others in the stores that looked like they had so many bells and whistles that would break off or crack upon any real usage. I highly recommend this product. Since I recently replaced most of the carpet in my home with hard surface flooring, such as 16" ceramic tile and wood laminate flooring, I love the fact that I can zip through and clean the entire house in under an hour without having to lug my heavy regular upright around with the cumbersome hose attachment that kept coming detached from the base. Good product, good purchase, happy customer!

[+] 10.0 AWESOME
Love it, it is light weight, head swivels and it has AWESOME suction. I bought one for the upstairs and I think I need to get one for the downstairs. Just so easy to whip out for a quick clean up.

[+] 10.0 A very powerful efficient little machine.
I ordered the Hoover Flair Bagless Upright Stick Vac based on all the five star reviews here. I am absolutely happy that I bought it. It is a very powerful task master but, extremely light and maneuverable. I've used it on my hardwood floors and large area rugs and it did the job quickly and efficiently, and I did not have to keep going over the same spot for ever to pick up all the dust. So the Hoover Flair is my new favorite cleaning tool. Now I don't have to drag out the heavy cumbersome canister vac on a daily basis. I highly recommend it.

[+] 10.0 Very handy sweeper
I got this for our RV, but started using it in the house on our laminated floors(we have 2 large dogs). It is amazing at what it picks up. It is easy to use. I am sure it will be great for our RV. I have tried it on carpet and it does a good job on surface dirt. The bagless feature is also a plus. It has more power than I thought it would too. Definitely a keeper!

[+] 8.0 Great suction and maneuverability!
This vacuum was a replacement for a cordless stick vac, so obviously I am really pleased with the suction that this corded vac provides. Does great in corners and near the baseboard. Wheels move and turn with ease. Emptying the cup is easy, I empty it and then take it outside and give it a good shake to get rid of the embedded dust. I have a pug so dog hair is my main reason for the vac on our tile and laminate flooring. The switch for the brush roller is fantastic, gets fuzzies and hair right off the rugs without a problem. The only thing I can really say that I miss is possibly a longer cord by about 6', and maybe an attachment of sorts to use on furniture etc..but all in all I am very pleased with the purchase of this Hoover vac!

[+] 8.0 Great Product--Poor Customer Service from Hoover!!!!!!

I unpacked the vacuum when it first arrived and the Power Nozzel was cracked
where you attach it to the handle. I called Hoover and was told there were no
replacement parts. It worked fine but I was concerned about the crack getting worse. Hoover said they would check and call me. I actually had to call them
three times over as many months. They told me to cut off the electric cord and
the label and ship the vacuum back to them and they would replace it. I checked with UPS and Fed Ex and found it would cost me close to $50 to have them pack it
and ship to Hoover. I called Hoover and asked them to ship me a replacement and
I would use that packaging to return the damaged vacuum. They refused to do this.
They also said the shipping charges were my responsibility. Well I still have the cracked one. It is a great product but I do feel cheated and will never buy another Hoover product.

We got this vacuum primarily to clean our area rugs, and it does just that! With 2 cats, we need something that works, and this does the trick. It is easy to maneuver around, and pretty easy to clean.

[+] 10.0 GREAT VACUUM FOR SMALL, EASY CLEANUP!
There are several reasons I love this vacuum:
1. It is compact and easy to store in a nook or small area.
2. The see-through canister lets you see if it needs emptying.
3. Goes from hard floor to a carpet brush at the touch of a switch (conveniently located up high on the vacuum, I might add.)
4. The carpet brush has enough suction to really do the job, but doesn't suck up the edges of a carpet mat like a regular vacuum does. It really freshens and fluffs the carpet mats, as well.
5. Nice, long electrical cord.
6. A swivel head that maneuvers easily.
7. A twisting cord hook that makes it easy to wrap and unwrap the cord.

We use this vacuum almost daily to clean up after three cats who are very vigorous about tossing cat litter around. This is a must have if you have small, daily cleanups or simply want to keep hard floors or small carpeted areas. spotless.

[+] 10.0 Hoover S2220 Bagless Stick Vacuum

[+] 10.0 just what I expected
I recently bought this vaccum cleaner. It arrived promptly before the estimated time. I really trust Amazon with all my online purchases and always know they stand by their word of providing good service. The product arrived in very good condition as if I had bought directly from the store. I already had the exact same vacuum, but it broke after so much use, I couldn't find the same kind at any store locally so I decided to order it online. It works really well on my hard floors and light carpets around the house. Thanks!

[+] 10.0 the best little vacuum ever
I can not say enough about how great this vacuum is. It has tremendous power & does a great job on pet hair. The cord is long enough to do big rooms & the flexible head really gets in hard to reach places. I love the power brush option for carpets and the fact that there are no bags to buy. Wonderful design, light weight and enjoyable to use. I really like the fact that I will now vacuum the pet hair every day or so instead of feeling quilty about not dragging out the house vac. Amazon has a great price and great delivery service.

[+] 10.0 electric broom
We bought this electric broom to replace one that had served us for well over 15 years. This model is light, has good suction, has settings for both floors and carpets, and is easy to empty the dust container after each use. We have been very satisfied with our purchase.

[+] 2.0 Disappointed with product packing
I was really excited to purchase this vacuum for my daughter because I own it and really like the vacuum. However, after lugging the unopened box from So. Jersey to Brooklyn, I was dismayed to find the toggle bolt that holds the handle onto the vacuum was not included. We called the phone number on instruction sheet and recording said: for parts - go to website. Bummer, no computer. Now I had to repackage and bring back to So. Jersey. I hope I can get better service than my daughter who has no computer.

[+] 8.0 Great Back-Up Vacuum!
I purchased this vacuum as a back-up before leaving my regular Sears upright in the shop for service. I have mostly wall to wall carpet and I own 3 cats, so I cannot go without vacuuming at least once a day. This little vacuum is excellent at picking up the surface dirt on carpets and works just as well on bare floor. It's not too heavy and I like the swivel power nozzle. I also like the fact that it doesn't take up too much space to store it. It doesn't clean as deep down in the carpets as my regular vacuum, but I highly recommend having one as an extra to have on hand just in case. My only complaint is that the power cord is not long enough. For that reason, I give this product 4 stars.

[+] 4.0 Short life and plan for low use
Good power with tendency to overheat and auto shut down. The support to stand on its own is not good, and most likely will fall often. In our experience, the life of this product is less than one year with overheating becoming a frequent problem - so plan to clean when this device is working. We use this only for small areas of cleaning and almost all over tiles and small rugs.

[+] 8.0 only a small design suggestion
This little stick vac does just exactly what I need it to do. The only improvement I would suggest to the design team would be to add a small handle on the top part of the face of the vac to aid in lifting it. I also have the Hoover steam mop, and it does have that feature. For those of us with arthritis, or who have little arm strength, that little addition would make this sassy little machine perfect.

[+] 6.0 Heavy and loud
I have a small house with hardwood floors and I want a quick, light vacuum. This vacuum feels heavy to use, and is much louder than other small vacuums I have owned in the past. I used this vacuum once and returned it. Just not for me.

[+] 8.0 Outstanding, while they last
Over the years, we have had about a half-dozen of these Hoover Flairs. They are my wife's favorite, even though they tend to break after a year or two, but at least they are (relatively) cheap. Our house is 2800 square feet -- half tile, which my wife takes care of with her Flair, and half carpet, which is my job. I used to use a big vacuum, but it is heavy and hard on my back.

The Flair is light and gets to places the big vacuum couldn't, and it actually does better on the carpet than the big vacuum. Until recently, neither machine has had a problem cleaning its half of the house.

After a year, my wife's Flair suffered a broken wheel, which cannot be replaced easily, if at all. It's a push-in-and-it-locks connector, which I found out when I disassembled my Flair after it got the 5-minute-and-overheat disease, which likely was caused by vacuuming up a carpet deodorizing and cleaning powder we sprinkled on the carpet.

I also discovered when I took apart the Flair's vacuum head that it was jam-packed with dust and dirt. The openings in the little motor that turns the brush were completely packed with dust. And the vacuum head is NOT easily taken apart to clean out. In fact, I doubt that I can get this one back together, so -- good thing it was already broken.

Still, my Flair was several years old and my wife is still pushing hers around the tile floors, even with the broken wheel, and it is still her favorite, which is why I just ordered new ones for each of us.

If the Flair held up better, I would give it 5 stars.

[+] 10.0 Great little vac
This vac is perfect for when you don't want to drag out the full-sized vac. It will not scratch hardwood floors, and will vac throw rugs - DO NOT use carpet setting - by holding the rug down with your toe and pushing forward. Perfect for bathrooms, the head swivels to get around corners and next to the toilet and reaches everything under the cabinets, right up to the wall. It picks up an amazing amount of stuff, is easy to empty, and is a pretty candy-apple red. This is not a replacement for a full-sized vacuum, but will do all those quick jobs, as well as prep hard surface floors for wet cleaning. I teamed it up with the Haan slim steamer and get all my hard surfaces done in no time. A best buy!

[+] 4.0 Works great for a while, but then...
it sucks, pun intended.

I got mine for Christmas 2007 and it worked great for a year and a half or so, but now I can't run it for more than 5 minutes without it overheating and shutting down. I have to let it sit for an hour or so to cool down before I can finish the floor. I have a small efficiency/studio apartment so it's not like I am running it for hours on end. It should at least work well without constantly overheating.

[+] 10.0 MUST BUY!!!
EXCELLENT!!!!! The BEST floor vacuum I've ever purchased. I'm on my 3rd Hoover Flair over the course of 5 years. I use it every other day. The suction is great!! The noise volume is minimal unlike other stick vacuum's i.e. Dirt Devil (Awful)!! And it doesn't generate alot of dust from blown air also like the Dirt Devil (Awful!! Awful)!! I bought them as Christmas presents for my sisters. One, who has a Golden, the other, who is an apartment dweller... P.S. Ideal for hardwood floors but also works well on low pile carpets. I hope they never stop manufacturing this vacuum. I LOVE

[+] 6.0 Not Good for Area Rugs
This product works great on tile floors and low-pile carpet. However, it seems to be too powerful for area rugs and sucks the rug up off of the floor. Some vacuums have a mechanism to reduce the suction, but this vacuum does not. So, unfortunately, we have to return the vacuum. It seems great if all you have are bare floors and low-pile carpet though.

[+] 8.0 Good little helper
I bought this stick vacuum so that my mother, who has arthritis, could quickly clean up the tiled kitchen area of dog and cat hair and other spills. It works great, is very light-weight and easy for her to lift. It can also get under cabinets really well (it lays almost flat). She just wishes the cord was longer. I would recommend this product as a back-up to a regular heavy-duty vacuum.

[+] 10.0 Love this stick vac!!
I bought this stick vac to use on my cermaic tile floors and I love it!! Its easy to manuver. Fits easily around the toliet and under the front edge of my kitchen cabinets. This little vac also has awesome power. If you are planning to use it on scatter rugs, your rugs need to be anchored down by a table of something equally as heavy. It will suck up an unachored rug. The collection cup is very easy to empty. I have recommended this vac to many other friends and family. Great value for the money!!

[+] 8.0 Small,powerful vacuum.
I am really pleased with the Hoover S2220 Flair Stick Vacuum. It has enough enough power to pick up after my 16 month's mess, plus my dog's hair. It does a decent job on throw rugs, small carpets and I love the flexability of moving from hardwood to rug.

[+] 8.0 A stick vac that's perfect for the job, with one tiny design flaw
Until we bought this Hoover stick vac, we used a suctionless sweeper to clean up after meals. Four children under age six tend to make a LOT of crumbs. What we really liked about that sweeper was that it weighed less than 5 lbs, so we quickly assigned one of the older kids the task of dining room sweeper. However, it couldn't reach into many of the nooks where food tended to hide, so we thought it best to upgrade.

The Hoover was just what we expected: powerful suction and easy maneuverability meant that my daughter (a little slip of a thing at 4 1/2 years old) could still use it, albeit by resting the handle on her shoulder. And boy, does she get the place clean with this thing!

My only complaint is that there's no way for it to rest upright (hence the four stars instead of five). I'm not sure what would fix this (a locking position? A kickstand?) but it's annoying to have to lay it down to plug in and then to find a storage spot for it where it won't fall over or slide down. This is a minor inconvenience for the value of this vac and I would make the same purchase again.

[+] 2.0 Broken in 5 months
Bought this Hoover for hardwood floors. We only use it on three smaller rugs once or twice a week. 5 months later the brush no longer rotates. I checked the belt and it is present and tight. Switch or motor is shot. Hoover does not have anyone who does warranty repairs for several hundred miles. Return for service is on my dime, that sucks!

[+] 10.0 Stick Vac
I did a lot of research before purchasing this product. It picks up dog fur and sand from tile floors fabulously! Much easier and faster than sweeping. The only downside is that it is a little unstable standing up. Just be careful when storing it. I'd definitely buy this Hoover again!

[+] 8.0 Quick, easy and quiet
I have dogs and a husband who can't remember to wipe his feet so lots of stuff tracked in and this little electric broom is great for quick clean ups. Small, lightweight and easy to store, VERY quiet and it has plenty of power.
I suspect that many of those who are not rating it well are trying to compare it to a full size vacuum. This is for for small, in-between jobs when a person doesn't need or want to bring out the big guns (although it would probably work well for small studio apartments) and it is terrific for it's intended purpose
Reviewer [A39VLTJSW61ZY5] | Date [September 17, 2009]
[+] 8.0 With a longer cord it would be perfect!
I really like this vacuum. I use it just about every day to pick up the dog hair and dirt that my dog drags in. My house is entirely hardwood and tile so I needed something like this but was worried that it would be really loud. I remember one that my family had about 15 years ago that was so loud that I preferred to sweep the whole house every day rather than vacuum it. This vacuum is nowhere near as loud as that one, it sounds about the same as vacuuming a carpeted home. My only gripe is that the cord isn't very long, in my opinion, but I've fixed that by buying a 25 ft extension cord that I keep attached to the vacuum. Before I bought this I was using a Swiffer Sweep-n-Vac. I liked the concept of that one with the swiffer pad wiping up the dust and little hairs that the vacuum missed but the suction level was about half as powerful as the Hoover Flair and it ran on a rechargeable battery that had to be plugged in for something like 12 or 15 hours between uses. The battery did not last long enough to clean my entire house so I'd have to leave it plugged in at all times and vacuum half of the house in the morning and half in the evening. I'm so glad I purchased this vacuum instead as I can do the whole house in the morning and can unplug the vacuum the rest of the time. If you have hardwood/tile then I would also recommend the Bissell Green Tea steam mop.

[+] 2.0 Frustrating
The Hoover Flair is the best little vacuum for picking up just about anything, including cat litter on carpet and hard flooring, which is a real problem. That's the good news. It is the most frustrating appliance I've ever had and would never purchase another. About the time you get started vacuuming it oveheats and stops. I'm not talking about vacuuming your entire house, I'm referring to about 3 minutes (if your lucky) then it stops all together. Since it's an overheating problem you have to wait at least 30-minutes before trying to vacuum again. If Hoover would solve this problem they'd have a fantastic product, but under these circumstances I would never advise anyone to waste their money!

I saw the preview for this product on QVC, this vacuum is AMAZING and it really does work on Carpet and Hardwood Floors. I have an entire house of hardwood floors and ceramic tile in my bath and it get everything up off the floor. And I have 2 area rugs and it cleans them also.It also has a really long cord that makes it easy to go from room to room. I HIGHLY endorse this product and I have only Hoover products in my house. They are always worth the price .

[+] 10.0 Works as I had hoped it would.
I purchased this stick vacuum for our travel trailer so that I would not have to drag out a heavy canister vacuum from our house. I also wanted a vacuum that we could use when hooked up to power at a campsite. This unit is powerful, light, and has a good dust catching container that is not messy to dump. It also has a generous cord length. We can leave the unit in the trailer at all times, since it takes up little space. I avoided all units made by Dirt Devil, since my past experience with that brand has been not at all good. Dirt Devil may have good products now, but I won't take a chance on that brand again. This unit is fairly inexpensive and works just fine on our low pile carpet and hard surface floors.

[+] 10.0 Much better than I thought !!
I had a Stick Vacuum I purchased 10 years ago, which had a diamond shape head, which was very helpful for cleaning stairs and corners. So when I saw this product I wasn't too sure how I would like it. But, with technology changing so much, I figured it had to have more power than the vacuum I had. When the product arrived, and I tried it out, I really liked it. It had a lot of suction, which I suspected would be true, and it had a long cord. Both of these points scored high with me. Also, what I liked even more was that it had turn on button which had two "speeds". Since I live in a condo now, I have hardwood floors with area rugs. With this switch, I can turn it to floor or to carpet. And it's also light and easy to handle. Goes under the bed quite easily. I give it a thumbs up.!

[+] 8.0 Hoover Flair Vacuum
I purchased the Hoover Flair Bagless Upright Stick Vacuum for quick little clean-up jobs. I have wood floors with low pile area rugs in some areas. The Flair makes clean-up after my grandchildren a breeze. It is compact, lightweight and easy to manipulate. I choose this model over a cordless because it has a long cord that lets me access my kitchen and family room area with ease. Just make sure that you empty the container frequently. It is a little messy, but I like not having bags since it is more environmentally friendly.

[+] 10.0 Best little stick vacuum around!!!!!
I LOVE this vacuum. I have 2 children so needless to say I am constantly cleaning up messes. To pull out the big vacuum every time can be a pain. I was looking for something to plug in and go but was not looking for a full size upright. This Hoover is great! The suction is amazing and you can do bare floor and carpet. Due to the low profile head you can get under the cabinets great. The filter does need to be washed occasionally but that is no big deal. I am so pleased that I purchased this and with the help of Amazon's free shipping I could not go wrong.

[+] 10.0 Very impressive
I was very impressed with how powerful this vacuum cleaner is for how light and small it is. It cleans my carpeted floors perfectly in effectively a single pass, which is more than I could say for my last vacuum which was pricier and much bigger and heavier. It does get a little warm when you have it set on carpet mode for a while but I did not experience any shutdowns or any issues at all. Highly recommended product.

[+] 2.0 Died after a few months
The 1st time I used this vacuum I thought it seemed to heat up quite a bit. After about 3 months it quit running and was so hot that it actually burned my hand. It eventually started back up but shuts down after about 3 minutes of running & that is just vacuuming the wood floors. I was not even going to try to vacuum the area rug!! Needless to say I consider it a piece of junk and a waste of money. I and will have to replace it with a different brand & model but you can bet it won't be a Hoover. I do not recommend this vacuum.

[+] 10.0 Very much pleased!
Moved into a new home where the first and upper floors are wooden (about 3200 sq ft of wooden floors to cover)as well as the stairs. Neighbor shared this product with me allowing me to use hers. I loved it...ordered two for me, one for each floor and have been very pleased. I read other reviews stating they over heat?? Neither of mine nor the neighbor's have had that problem. I will run each of mine for at least 30-40 mins on each floor(turning off long enough to plug into another outlet) and they do great. The power this product has is unbelievable! Would not recommend for fully carpeted rooms but does great on large floor rugs in dining room and family room (9X11s). Will be purchasing another today for my daughter in Texas who has tiled floors and lots of dirt in yard that comes in with the kids. Great product Hoover! Well done!

[+] 10.0 Picks up bird seed!
I've tried many stick vacuums, but none would pick up items as big or bigger than bird seed. I have a messy paraqueet who throws her food all over, and I'm thrilled the Flair works wonderfully.
