[+] 10.0 Oldie But a Goodie, If you love old school 80's and 90's R&B This is For you!!
I have had this CD for YEARS!!!! But I am gonna write a review for it anyways because I still love Al B Sure's! music just like I did years ago!
This CD came out when I was 9 and I thought his music sounded good and he looked even better, lol!!!
For those who think Al B Sure can't sing I disagree, I wouldn't say he is Luther Vandross, but he can sing. On songs like "Nite &Day" and "Oooooh This Love is So" his voice sounds smooth and sexy. And I love it when he sings in that high pitched falsetto. My fave song would have to be "Just A Taste Of Lovin", I can put track #8 on repeat and listen over and over.
This music sounds so much better to me than the crap that gets played on the radio now days, so old or not I am gonna keep on listening to this great CD!

[+] 10.0 One heck of an 80's album.
Al B. layed it down on this classic 80's recording. These songs take me back to my college days when i was really having a good time. Unfortunately, this was his last and only real good recording.

[+] 10.0 Al B. Sure! was THAT MAN back in the day! Still got miuch Love for AL B SURE!
AL B. SURE! is sorely missed in the music world!
This album is a true display of talent and wonderful music. I fell in love with him the 1st time I saw this video in June 1988 when I was 13 years old. Very handsome! I made sure to purchase every single released on 12 "Albums (Back in the day-The CD was still pretty new back then").

My favorites are OFF ON YOUR OWN GIRL, OOH THIS LOVE IS SO, KILLING ME SOFTLY (His version sounds even better than the original by Roberta Flack) and just the whole album. I loved the faces and the unibrow. TRUE CLASSIC for SURE!

You will NOT BE Disappointed with Al. B's 1st album. His 2nd (Private Times....) and 3rd (Sexy Versus)albums were also very good. Sad to know that such great music was not recognized like it should have been.

No one has came on the scene and totally influenced music like AL B!
We need him back to make more beautiful music!

Check Al out on his MySpace [...]

Much Love to all the AL B fans! New site to show AL some love coming soon!

[+] 10.0 back to the 90's
i am a huge fan of al b. sure. he takes me back to my college days and i still had the album! so i wanted to upgrade the album to a cd so that i could burn all his great hits from this album to my ipod.

eventhough in the 90's there were great bands and artists who used keyboards as the instrumental part of their deal, al b. sure was one of the few that was GREAT. such hits as "ooh this love is so.." and "naturally mine" take you back to your youthful days when music was great unlike the music of the current generation.

check it out!

[+] 8.0 One of the definitive statements of New-Jack Swing
One of the biggest hit albums of 1988, and still better than anything he did after it, Al B. Sure! (born Al Brown on 6-4-68) was a silky-smooth vocalist who sent many a young girl into dreamland with the mega-hit "Nite And Day." Hard as it may be to believe, I never knew that Al B. Sure! was the artist responsible for the great song "Off On Your Own (Girl)," something that I only discovered accidentally when I bought the album in 2005 (the first time I ever bought the album in it's entirety). I was buying it mainly so I could take the disc and record "Nite And Day" to my computer. Now, as great as "Nite And Day" was, "Off On Your Own (Girl) is definitely my favorite Al B. Sure! song. It's instantly recognizable, but not nearly as played-out as "Nite And Day."

[+] 10.0 One of the best R&B albums of the eighties
Al B.Sure burst on to the scene with his HUGE single Nite And Day back in the summer of 1988. The new jack swing never sound better than did one the uptempo tracks Resuce Me, Off On Your Own (Girl) and my personal favorite If I'm Not Your Lover (the remix feat.Slick Rick is required for all old school DJ'S). The strength on this CD for me personally was in the ballads Oooh This Love Is So and Naturally Mine both of which still make their way on to my mix CD'S. Mr. Sure recently announced on his radio show that he has a new CD planned this year which I'm looking forward to.

[+] 10.0 sexy, sexy, sexy
I bought this on cassette when it first came out, and of course hadn't played it in years. I've started hearing "Night & Day" on the r&b stations again, and just brought back memories and had to pick up the cd. This cd just puts you in the mood....love it.

[+] 10.0 Al B. is a Sure Thing!
The whole album is JAMMIN'!! I still remember back in '88 with my walkman and Al B.'s tape in the #6 train going to work. Was this man FINE or what? When Nite and Day came out, all eyes were on him and Mt. Vernon, the guys up there where making great music. Remember, Quincy Jones even gave him an award....What happened after that is still hazy....Was it bad business decisions or what, that kept him from topping or at least matching In Effect Mode? Where is he? I still wanna marry HIM!

[+] 10.0 Groundbreaking and breathtaking
This is without any doubt in my mind one of the best albums ever made. Smooth vocals, great ballads and funky songs that was the man known as Al B. Sure. On of my favorite covers is Killing me softly and I like his version better than the original and that song I consider one of the best ever written.

Al B. was talented and had won a Jazz prize before this album came out and in certain arrangements you can hear the Jazzy influences. This is one of the best New jack albumsthat was out and Al. B had a hand in launching a group that took things a step further.

It's a pity the music industry and fans drop acts that deserve better. Because this man really deserved more credit for his accomplishments.

[+] 8.0 Still a hot debut today!
Somehow, the albums from 1988, my high school graduation year, have held up very well and still get some radio airplay! Al B Sure is one of them! Although he had to compete with Keith Sweat and Bobby Brown for R&B male artist chart dominance, his album was a superb effort all throughout! The sexy Nite and Day still sounds fabulous! The new jack sounds of Off on Your Own Girl, which he won a Soul Train Music Award for, still are funky! His remake of Roberta Flack's Killing Me Softly is still fabulous. And songs like Naturally Mine and If I'm Not Your Lover are still nicely done! The high point of this album is the musicianship of Al B. Sure and Kyle West who produced most of the songs. Their construction of the songs and melodies are very masterful. And Teddy Riley produced one song, but nobody noticed it even when his group Guy was a major hit in '88. Sure couldn't match this success on his later albums, but this is a fine debut by him, one of the '80s best R&B albums!

[+] 8.0 OOOH THIS MAN IS SO!!!!!!!!!!!!
MAN,,, I HAD TO SIT DOWN AND TAKE SOME TIME OUT OF MY BUSY DAY AND WRITE A LITTLE SOMETHING ABOUT "IN EFFECT MODE",,,,,BEING THAT I AM TWENTY YEARS OLD AND I WAS ONLY FOUR YEARS OLD WHEN THIS ALBUM WAS RELEASED,,,,I REMEMBER IT LIKE IT WAS YESTERDAY WHEN I FIRST HEARD THE SONG "OOH! THIS LOVE IS SO",,, I WAS IN LOVE WITH IT AND STILL AM,,, THIS IS THE MOST UNDER RATED AND OVERLOOKED SONG EVER,,, IT IS SO BEAUTIFUL AND SEXY,,, I AM SO IN LOVE WITH THIS ALBUM ,, FROM BEGINNING TO END, IT IS INCREDIBLE... KEEP IN MIND THAT I MAY BE YOUNG ,BUT I KNOW WHAT GREAT MUSIC IS,,, SEE IM NOT INTO RAP. ITS ALL ABOUT THE 80'S AND 70'S R&B MUSIC IN MY CD PLAYER,,, NO OTHER GENRE OF MUSIC CAN TOUCH IT,,,, AND IS IT JUST ME OR DID GOOD QUALITY MUSIC DIE? OLD SCHOOL PLAYAS LIKE MR.SURE ,CHRISTOPHER WILLIAMS, NEW EDITION,TROOP, AND GUY AND SO ON AND SO FORTH,, CAN NOT BE TOUCHED BY THESE BUBBLEGUMS WE HAVE OUT NOW!!!!!!!! WHAT HAPPENED EVERYONE???????? BUT TO CLOSE THIS OUT ,, "IN EFFECT MODE" IS A CLASSIC MASTERPIECE AND MY FAVORITE TRACKS ARE.....

1. "OOH! THIS LOVE IS SO"--- THIS IS THE MOST SEXY AND DYNAMIC SONG ON THE ALBUM AND ONE OF THE BEST AND SEXIEST SONGS OF ALL TIME... PLEASE LISTEN TO IT AND YOU'LL FALL IN IN LOVE WITH IT LIKE I DID.... {TIMELESS CLASSIC}.

2."NATURALLY MINE"--- THIS IS ALSO ANOTHER GREAT UNDER RATED SONG,,,THAT IS SO BEAUTIFUL AND WELL WRITTEN. BEAUTIFUL , BEAUTIFUL LOVE SONG ..... {ANOTHER TIMELESS CLASSIC}.

3."NITE AND DAY"--- I LOVE THIS ONE TOO,, THEY PLAYED IT A LITTLE TOO MUCH IN THE LATE 80'S AND THE EARLY 90'S,, BUT IT IS STILL A BEAUTIFUL SONG...

4."OFF ON YOUR OWN (GIRL)"---NICE UPTEMPO TRACK AND LYRICS, I LOVE THE RAP AND EVERY THING ABOUT THIS TRACK....

5."KILLING ME SOFTLY"-- GREAT,,, REMAKE {TIMELESS CLASSIC}

ALL IN ALL, I LOVE THE OTHER SONGS BUT THESE ARE MY JAMS.. ESPECIALLY "OOH THIS LOVE IS SO",,, I CANT SAY ENOUGH ABOUT THIS ONE THOUGH . BUT THIS ALBUM IS A CLASSIC AND AL B. SURE IS SO , SO TALENTED... HE AND THE NEW JACK SWING ERA WILL SURELY BE MISSED.

AL B. SURE IS ONE OF OUR BEST ARTISTS OF THE 80'S ASIDE FROM HIS GOOD LOOKS HE SURE IS TALENTED,, AND CAN SING THE MESS OUT OF "OOH THIS LOVE IS SO" AND "NATURALLY MINE" HE WILL ALWAYS HOLD A PLACE IN OUR HEARTS "MUSICALLY"......

[+] 10.0 Did This Go Platinum?
If It didn't it should have, because this cd is the bomb. It is so tight. I like every song on it except two, but it's still so good. My favorite song is "Killing Me Softly" I love that song. 2nd favorite is a tie between "Nite & Day" and "Naturally Mine".
This is off the hook. Al B. is a very talented man, too bad it took me until now to figure it out, but that's another story. I highly recmommed that everybody go out and get this cd. Pz
