JVC KD-AVX44 El Kameleon Vehicle Multimedia Receiver w/ 3.5" Monitor

Awesome sound and video, you might think the screen is too small, but it's not that bad, you'll learn to live it. although don't do watch it while driving. :P

Parking cable bypass is very simple. simply ground the parking break wire.
It made my Kenwood speakers sound so clear and it boosted the subs much more than my previous deck.

Loving almost everything about it. Only thing is, the usb cable it comes with wont read flash drives that have movies or music, its just probably the type of usb drive that varies but i dont really care, since my music comes from my ipod that i control directly from the deck (which you can change the colors :D) and my movies from my dvds!

Also the tilt needs a minor push when the deck closes but i called JVC and told me to send it to CA, (Im in WA) and it would be around 3 weeks before I have it again, since its such a minor thing and I Rarely use the Video unless I got friends in my car, a little push fixes the problem, which it isn't a big deal after all.

side note: Discount Jungles Sent me the JVC KD-AVX40 model which was a little more expensive than the 44 but Its basically the same thing as the 40.

I am very pleased with this unit, but there are some quirks. The user interface definitely has a learning curve, and will take a little while to understand how to find everything (with so many features I can't blame them too much). You really need to have a playlist ready to go on your ipod, because it is extremely slow moving through the menu, and frustrating enough that I almost rated this a 4 star. The remote is very helpful because sometimes when the car is moving it is difficult to hit the buttons correctly to adjust the volume, the controls are very sensitive. I found that I can charge my iphone through the usb, but it does not connect to unit, so I can only play music from my ipod. The music quality is fantastic, and I am really enjoying finally being able to listen to my ipod in the car.

This unit looks very good and works very well. But dont try to operate the touch screen while you drive. Many mistouching happens and you will loose the attention to traffic. Raising or lowering the volume ( among others) is much easier using the remote. After all I am very satisfied with the quality of the sound.

We bought this unit after researching many other receivers out there.
We finally decided on a DVD/CD/Bluetooth/IPOD ready receiver and this one kept coming up in our research.
I have to admit getting use to the menu and option took some time, but was not impossible.
This receiver has given us everything we need, since our car, a BMW x-3, did not have blue tooth or i-pod compatability, and we were not looking to spend triple at BMW to add these items on.
We had this professionally installed, together with headrest monitors, and now we can listen to great quality music in the front of the car, while our son watches some of his favorite dvd's with his wireless headphones in the rear.
We had our installer add the steering wheel controls and I have to say, we have full functions from the steering wheel. We can answer calls, by the way the blue tooth is flawless, change volume, search stations, change input devices, and scan for stations.
Ipod integration is fantastic- great deal and we know we made the correct choice.
And by the way, this receiver looks great and blends in beautifully.

Purchased this in Dec 08 as a gift for my girlfriend and she loves it. Also bought the IPOD connector (can't figure out how to display album art as yet though). Bluetooth works well and so does the DVD viewing. Will be purchasing one for my vehicle as well.

nice product. it took me 20mins to itstall and 20hrs to learn all the operations, but all in all it sounds great and looks fantastic.....cons it's a little slower on reading

Super cool radio..looks awesome.. video is great.. functions very well.. not user friendly though. You really have to dig into the menu screen to get the most out of the bluetooth features. I don't mind it. getting use to it over time but it does take some work. People crack me up about the cover art.. who really wants to see an album cover for a song while driving?.. I don't get it. The phone bluetooth works very well it you turn down the mic level or the other person can hear their own echo. You can even change the background color to match your cars interior lighting.
I really like this stereo.
