I haven't used the filter yet but I wanted you to all know it is $14.99 at both Target and Bed, Bath & Beyond and it is 12.99 at Walmart! Why pay $20 if you don't have to?

Alternative to pre-filled coffee for the Keurig.
I like the fact that I can stil use the brand of coffee that I like. since it is not pre-filled. Cleaning the filter, however takes a little more effort.
This item is a must when you purchase the Keurig machine. If you have ground coffee that you want to use I would highly recommend this. It's reusable and very easy to clean.

Very Handy Accesssory
For those of you who have a Keurig Machine - this accessory is very handy.
If cost is an issue, the unit will pay for itself in a short period of time.
K-Cups are great, however some of us like a special grind not availble pre-
packaged. My iniatal interest in the "re-usual k-cup" grew after reading on
Amazon how others were also enjoying their special flavor. Also, who among us is
not concerned with disposable K-Cups being added to our waste stream?
Obviously the Keurig K Cup System offers many benefits that I need not
reiterate. Let us discuss this filter: an earlier review mentioned the "ears"
on top cover lid will break off after a year of use. We have used this Filter
every day for 3 months with out any issue.
I've promised myself to handle this carefully as the reviewer warned.
Very good for "using up" the partial bags of coffee in freezer -
Rinse well after use - let the 3 parts dry separated.
Well made product, we are very happy with it.
Be aware that this product does not fit into some of the Keurig coffee makers... it should state that it works only with home brewing systems. It doesn't work for the Keurig we have at work.

k cup filter problem
The k cup leaks alot, but this problem is easy to fix and will make a great cup of coffee. How to fix, first will filter 3/4 full with coffee and screw on k cup top, then put a piece of foil over the k cup top and this will stop the leaking and will make a great cup of coffee every time. I believe, the problem is the hole on the k cup lid,is to big and makes it leak, but by adding a piece of foil the problem is gone. PS------ I HOPE THIS WORKS FOR YOU.
With nothing in the enclosed literature to recommend what grind coffee to be used, I used my regular, off-the-shelf coffee as well as a fine grind of special blend only to have the same result...water seeping around the perimeter of the coffee distribution area of the coffee maker, missing the cup and making a mess. When I called regarding the problem, I was advised that coarse grind coffee is what should be used with the reusable filter. Haven't checked that out yet.
I find that I can use my left over coffee from before I purchased my single cup maker. It works really well and costs a lot less than just using the K-cups.

Must Have for Keurig owners
This little contraption is a must own, especially if your favorite coffees are not available as k-cups. The biggest problem with most k-cups is that they do not contain enough coffee to make a strong standard size mug-full. I use it with Starbucks coffee. If you fill the filter basket to the top (or nearly the top), you will get MUCH stronger tasting coffee. I use standard auto drip size grinds. If you make sure to screw the cap on it, it will not leak or let grinds into your coffee mug. I honestly do not understand how anyone can have problems with such a simple item. It is simple and quick to clean. If you are using it for more than one person, buy an extra set of filters. Fill it to the top and enjoy.
Keurig coffee makers will never make coffee quite as good as my Krups Mocha Brew but it's simplicity and speed with virtually nothing to clean make it a permanent replacement.

Do not waste your money.
The brewer is great. This device is a piece of junk. What a mess. Water spews out along with very weak coffee. Grounds are everywhere. Hey Keurig, you sure pimped me out of $14. Let me ask you a question. Do you guys test your products before you pass them off to the consumer? I tried this thing 4 times, all with the same result. What a scam. I don't know how anybody writing these reviews could possibly give this thing more than 1 star, unless they are being written by Keurig or people who cannot taste the difference between one of their K-Cups and the coffee that this thing spews out. SAVE YOUR MONEY. DO NOT BUY.

$14 for a wire mesh cup and a piece of plastic?
Not worth the money. I've used this on a bunch of different blends from the Roasterie here in Kansas City and I can say with confidence that if you use this K-cup your coffee will be overextracted and bitter. This was definitely not worth $14.

Watery Coffee/Poorly Designed
I love our Keuring coffee maker but wanted to save a little money so I bought this filter at Walmart. I was instantly disappointed with watery coffee resulting from the device's poor design. I gave it one star rather than two because Keuring obviously tested the product, was aware of its pitfalls and decided to market a substandard filter anyway. As other reviewers have noted, the filter works differently from the K-Cup and not surprisingly, not as well. The filter allows too much water to get through it before the water "bonds" with the coffee. Water also leaks out of the top of the filter's holder before it even gets to the coffee. One reviewer said he had fixed the watery coffee problem by cutting a plastic K-Cup to slip the filter into, but this did not work for me. The coffee tastes the same, the "leaky water" mess is bigger and quite frankly, you shouldn't have to do this anyway. Disappointing.
We bought one of these with our Keurig coffee maker and it leaked profusly. We called the manufacture and they sent a new unit (took 2 months) It doesn't work either...leaks. Don't waste your money and time.

Buying The Keurig My K-Cup Is An Economically And Environmentally Wise Decision
My parents spoil me! They bought me a Keurig B30 Mini Brewer for my office. It is a wonderful present; I use it every day. Along with the brewer, my parents gave me the Keurig My K-Cup which complements the brewer, making it more economical, convenient and fun to use.
Some of my friends at work drink one cup of coffee after another all day. The disposable cups can become expensive. Not to mention the environmental impact that they have on our landfills. The reusable My K-cup has saved me a lot of money. I buy my favorite French Vanilla coffee from the grocery store across the street from my apartment complex. I simply spoon the coffee into the filter basket. Depending on how much caffeine I need, I can easily vary the strength of the coffee. Sometimes one spoonful is enough. Sometimes I use two. Sometimes, if I stayed up late writing a review for Amazon, I pack the filter basket full of delicious coffee.
Clean up is a breeze. I take the entire K-Cup filter assembly to the break room, shake the coffee grounds into the trash can and rinse the lid, filter basket and filter holder in the sink. It takes about five minutes to clean the Keurig My-Cup.
I highly recommend purchasing the Keurig My Cup if you are fortunate enough to own a Keurig Gourmet Single Cup Home Brewing System. It will definitely enhance its use. It is wise from both an economical and environmental standpoint. Less disposable K-cups will need to be thrown into the landfills.

I like the concept, but it doesn't work well
This is a good concept to save money on the K-cups and not be so wasteful. But it just doesn't make a great cup of coffee. I had read all the other reviews before I bought it and I've tried different methods to make it better. Using an actual K-cup with the foil top cut off worked ok. And if you fill the little mesh cup all the way to the top, instead of just the two tablespoons of coffee the directions recommend, the coffee is also not as watery. But if you follow the direction, you will get a very watered down cup of coffee and I like my coffee very bold.
I didn't have any problems with water leaking out the top or grounds in my coffee. Overall, this product is usable, but it defeats the purpose of having an "easy" coffee brewing machine. I got my Keurig coffee maker as a gift, and I'll probably just buy a regular small coffee pot when I finish the K-cups... a normal coffee maker is much more environmentally (and budget) friendly, same amount of work, and I can still brew a small amount for just one person.

Use fine (espresso) grind.
It works great!
I use an espresso (fine) grind. You just have to experiment with it. With the espresso grind, i find that i needed about 7 grams of coffee for a good cup. If you fill it to the top, the pump of the machine isn't strong enough to push it through.
Just need to experiment with the amount of grinds you use. But definately needs a fine grind.

Great Substitute For K-Cup
When Deidrich stopped making my favorite K-Cup (Paradise House) I needed to go back to my Gevalia coffee. Using this filter is the only way I could do this my my Keruig Coffee Maker. It works well, but is a bit messy. After brewing the coffee, the grinds get all over the devise that the filter screen fits into. You need to rinse it out every time instead of just dumping the grounds. So if you don't have a garbage disposal forget about using this.
I ordered this along with a b60 machine and when I looked at my e-mail receipt I was charged 65$ for the shipping and handling of this one item. Huh? canceled that order fast. Buyer beware.
I was skeptical after reading the reviews but I think it works great and it is much cheaper to use this than the pods. It does require rinsing and cleaning after each brewed cup but if you're up to that, it is the way to go!

Makes weak coffee, poorly designed
I was very excited to recieve the Keurig coffee maker with the idea that they have this great accessory that will allow you to avoid the cost of the pre-packaged K-cups and pick the coffee you want to brew. Well the thing does not work and I feel Keurig made it poorly on purpose so that you would need to purchase coffee packeged their way. While the fitting that comes with the brewer and holds the prepackaged K-cups snaps into place the My K-Cup accessory just sits there. The result: some brown coffee comes through but clear water also comes out in numerous flows into your cup, resulting in the weakest brew you will ever have. Needless to say I returned the accessory and the coffee maker.

Saves money, but only use store ground
i use this k-cup reusable filter so i can pick and choose the coffee i want. the only problem is that my home grinder creates small coffee particles that gum up the filter. eventually, it stops working. not to worry, since it can be cleaned using a brush to get the particles out. so i just stick to store ground coffee for this filter.
i give it 5 stars because it is easy to use, saves money, provides me more choices of coffee than pre-packaged k-cups, and lasts a long time. i would give it three stars if i was intent on using my home coffee grinder.

4 Stars if modified, 3 stars as is
If you follow the instructions in V. Germano's October 10, 2008 review, you can make an acceptable K-cup out of your own coffee with the My K-Cup. It closes the sides of the My K-cup to allow for more mixing (turbulence) of the coffee, which is essential for extracting full flavor.
Even better, though is My-Kap - Reuse Your Keurig K-Cups (1 Clear, 1 Red, 1 Green), but it requires a little more careful handling as it reuses an actual K-cup and its sealed paper filter inside.
I have and use both. It just depends on whether I'm in a hurry (My K-Cup) or not (My-Kap).
I returned the filter because the keurig coffee machine did not make hot coffee so I sent them both back . I never used the filter so I realy can`t rate it. BUT I did use the coffee machine with the k-cups and I could not get hot coffee, not hot enough for me anyway.
I was looking forward to having something to use for my own coffee in my new Keurig coffee maker. I don't like it, the coffee comes out too weak, so it forces me to use the pre-made pods - which I don't mind using, they are pretty good.

It works, with some help
I bought this filter so that I could make some types of coffee that are not currently available for the Keurig. I travel quite a bit, often to areas that produce incredible coffees. I wanted to be able to use these coffees in my Keurig so I thought that this filter would help me to enjoy them. Well, it works but it takes a little time to get used to using it. It clogged up a few times but I was able to clean it out and still use it.
I did not buy this filter so that I could make coffee with my Keurig for less money per cup, I bought it for variety and to be honest I am finding enough variety through the various makers of cups so that I seldom use this anymore. However, when I find an interesting and unique coffee I either use my trusty French Press or I break out this filter even though it is a little more work than it is worth (at least for me).

A MUST HAVE, its better, cheaper and helps you go green
Face it the Keurig might be a great machine, fast and effeicent perfect for the guy or girl on the run. But it doesn't make a great cup off coffee, even with the best k-cup coffee brand available, it might be good but in no means great. People buy it because it is quick, better and cheaper than Dunkin Donuts. Its definately not better or cheaper than brewing regular coffee the old fashion way, that's where you get great coffee. Plus k-cups are close to 20x's more expensive, don't believe do the math.
That is unless you use this filter. You chose the coffee, it might take just a bit more time becuase you have to rinse the filter when your done but it is better tasting than any K-cup plus it is green, no empty k-cup to pollute a landfill.
Buy this filter and save yourself a lot of money. I have heard others calling this thing cheap, I have been using mine for over a year and so has my wife, it makes about four cups a day, as well as brews loose tea, 100x's better than the k-cup brands. This this is just as solid as it was the day I bought it.
Makes a good product even better. A must have!

Solid build; results take some experimentation
I purchased this immediately off of a retailer site (newegg) when I got my Keurig. This is a must have, but just be prepared to spend some time using beans just to experiment. This thing brews much differently then a k-cup, so you actually have to have a totally different bean grind and bean volume to get a similar result to a K=Cup regular.
My advice, by some cheap beans (WHOLE BEANS) .
1. Grind several different amounts at about 2-3 Tablespoons each. Write down how much time it takes to grind them.
2. Brew a cup of coffee with each different bean grind style, with about 2 tablespoons.
3. Take your favorite tasting batch, and then expirement with the volume amount on that bean grind. (Never pack it totally full, beans fly out everywhere, sort of like how you can't fill a cereal bowl full of cereal and then add milk and expect it to all be kosher)
4. Find your favorite volume and voila! You know now how to brew your own favorite cup.
5. Make sure to write down and save your instructions ;)
Reasons being, everyones grind / grinder is different, everyones taste is different, and with these small k-cups, there isn't much wiggle room for error.
For durability, never turn it on too tight, be very gentle and it will last for a long time.
My future version 2.0 my k-cup, I want it to brew like a regular k-cup!! way too much mesh filter going on here, but you don't get a choice unless you are macgyver

Takes too long to use, too messy
I had high hopes for this litle gadget, that I could use up my bags of coffee. I even read the detailed instructions some one helpfully gave as to how to get a better cup of coffee. What I found was that it is not that easy to remove the piece from the machine that you have to do to get this filter in, and then you make a mess putting the coffee in the filter, the coffee does not taste that good, and then you have to clean the grounds out. So really, unless you are using it solely to save money, it defeats the purpose, to get a quick cup of coffee. If I want to use my bagged coffee, I'll just drag out my full size Cuisinart coffee maker. As i used this gadget exactly once (due to the trouble I had using it) I cannot comment on the durabilty, but many have and have found it not durable.
We went on Vacation and a friend of ours had this Keurig coffee maker and we loved it. They also had the reusable filter, nice when you have a brand of coffee you like and want to use it. when we arrived home I bought the whole thing. My husband drinks reg and I drink decafe so that works out great. I bought two, we use a 24 oz size cup and it takes to coffee pods to fill it. So I fix them both and then just pop one in after the other. I can be cleanng one out wile the other is still brewing. Works great, we drink DD Coffee, so now we can save money and have it fresh at home, you will not be disapointed, if you get one or two....try it, you will love it.

Three reasons the Pod Holster is better than My K-Cup
The Pod Holster (Perfect Pod Holster Use Any Pod in Your Keurig Coffee Maker - Over 10,000 Sold), which is not made by Keurig, makes a good cup of coffee in a Keurig machine using third-party coffee pods priced at less than half the cost of K Cups. There is almost no clean up as the used pods come out as neatly self-contained little buttons. Also, there is very little waste other than the pod's simple paper filter and the grounds.
But is it a better product than the "My K-Cup" filter? As much as I rely upon the "My K-Cup" filter, I say definitively and emphatically, "Yes".
First, the Pod Holster fits most Keurig machines. The "My K-Cup filter" assembly doesn't! We have a Keurig brewer in my office where we are charged $1.00 per cup. Unfortunately for me, many "professional" Keurig models have a little "lip" that prevents you from inserting their filter assembly into their machine. This design feature means that I can't bring my favorite home-ground coffee and tea into work. On the other hand, the Pod Holster has virtually the same dimensions as a K-Cup so that it will fit inside any Keurig machine, save the B100. In the case of the B100, the coffee drawer slides out instead of dropping down. The Pod Holster has a slightly thicker lid than a real K-Cup, so the clever engineers at Kuerig found a way to prevent you from sliding the imposter brewing cup into their machine.
Second, the Pod Holster is easier to use and less fragile than the "My K-Cup filter" assembly. Keurig's design requires that you remove a part (with a big sharp needle in the bottom) from your coffee maker, and insert a fragile filter housing in its place. With normal daily usage, tightening the housing lid, even gently, breaks the threads on housing body and renders it useless; I've gone through three of them, so far. In comparison, the Pod Holster cap is sealed with a small thin silicon gasket. The gasket will probably break eventually, but after a year of daily use, the holster is still working well.
Third, the Pod Holster makes a rich cup of coffee using non-Keurig pods. "My K-Cup filter" can, but poorly. Even with a basketfull of grounds, the water injected into the K-Cup filter will flow through or around the coffee with little brewing exposure, making for a weak cup of coffee. If the grounds are sitting in a pod in the filter, most of the water flows around the pod and through the filter screen. The secret to the Pod Holster's success is that it has a little spring tamper that pushes the pod to the top of the unit, forcing the Keurig water insertion needle to pierce the pod. All the hot water goes through the pod's coffee and filter.
The Pod Holster is not perfect. The tamper spring sometimes falls into the trash when I eject my used pod, and sometimes there are grounds that flow around the puncture point in the pod. Most notibly, I can't put my own ground coffee or tea into it. So, if you like to grind your own coffee, then get a K-Cup filter -- or make your own pods; Amazon carries a kit Make Your Own Keurig Kcup Perfect Pod Kit Holster and Maker for under $50. Other than that, I can't think of anything I don't like about the Pod Holster. I have purchased four of these babies: one for home and three for the office. At work they have been stolen off my desk!
Final recommendation: Buy the Perfect Pod Holster and subscribe to Amazon's Senseo Douwe Egberts Coffee Pods, Variety Pack, 16-Count Packages (Pack of 4). That's 64 cups of coffee for under $20.00!

Another tip for strong coffee - and a heads up
I like strong coffee. I too was disappointed with the fact that if you want a strong cup of coffee using the Keurig, you have to brew a small cup using the strongest brews available (Emeril's Big Easy Bold is very good). So I got the My K-Cup. If you want a strong cup of coffee on the Keurig's largest cup size setting, you need to pick a strong coffee to begin with and fill the My K-Cup to the absolute max, but also, it needs to be a superfine grind. Typical grinds that you find in most mainstream coffee just won't cut it. I use Seattle's Best (Post Alley Blend is my favorite) and it's perfect - but most boutique coffees have a superfine grind. Also, heads up: you will need to replace this filter every six months or so. It gets gunked up with residue and the machine will struggle to make a half cup of coffee and tell you that it needs to be de-scaled. A new My K-Cup makes everything work perfectly.

A corporate maneuver, for you to switch brewers
Maneuver: to guide with adroitness and design
First, I would like to state up front, that I love my Keurig B50 brewer. I find many of the K-Cups convenient and tasty. But, I do believe that the 'My K-Cup' product is nothing more than a tactical maneuver.
I have tried, as no doubt many have, to get a decent cup of coffee using the 'My K-Cup'(even using the Internet 'fixes'). But, as many have discovered, the product produces consistently weak, watered down coffee (R.I.P. Boca Java Sunrise, Boca Java Bananas Foster Float, and Chock full O' Nuts Original).
I believe the company is aware of this. How could they not come to the same conclusion during the product testing phase? But, think about it. If they offer a product that 'touts' the fact that you can use your own coffee grinds with the Keurig unit, many people who are deciding which coffee maker to buy will think, "Oh, this one not only offers the convenience of single serve coffee, but I can also use grounds I already have. This is win-win!" Wrong.
If you are considering a Keurig, buy the unit with the thought that you will only be able to use the pre-made K-Cups (which are good, convenient, but more expensive than buying it by the bag). Do not allow them to deceive you into believing you will be able to make the same (or even close to the same) quality brew with your own grinds as you would with a traditional coffee maker.
Just a 'heads up' for potential buyers. A little bait and switch action.
