I bought my first one about 4 years ago. It malfunctioned within less than a year after purchasing it and the company stood by it's one year warranty and replaced the product free of charge. The replacement lasted 3 years, which is a lot longer than other automatic feeders I've used in the past. So, when I was needing to buy a new feeder I bought the same brand. I've been very happy with this one.

Cat breaking in? Make sure the timer is actually snapped onto the locking tabs in the base!
I see many reviewers claiming that their cat has broken into this feeder quickly and easily. Admittedly, my cat broke in within 5 minutes of being shown the new dish. She's smart and strong but I couldn't believe that the unit was so poorly built. Further investigation revealed that the timer wasn't snapped firmly down onto the tabs in the base. It takes a little wiggling to get the slots on the timer lined up with the tabs in the base. Once aligned you have to push down pretty hard to make the tabs snap into place. Now my cat, strong as she is, can't spin the cover to get to the next meal!

lentek automatic pet feeder
my cats no longer wake me up at 4 am to feed them! it's wonderful. they are good kitties, and dont pry off the lid, but they could. i found instructions on how to modify it if they they do, and it would be simple enough if i ever need to. i'd recommend this product for sure! i would prefer the timer to have an 8 hr option (it has 6, 12, 24) and perhaps it's a little noisy when advancing to the next meal.

You gets what you paid for.
I read all the reviews on this and ordered it because of the low price. It started acting up and not working properly within 2 weeks. My cat loved the double feedings but that was not the point. I ended up purchasing a PetSafe 5 Meal Feeder for twice the price at the local PetCo and it works great. It's programmable and has not had one problem in the 3 weeks that I have been using it. Now I have to return the Lentek.

I depend on these!
Love these feeders. I bought a second one because they work so well and I got a second cat. The 6 spaces are large enough that if i fill them full there will still be some left for the next time it rotates through, meaning it will last longer than just one rotation. I don't think wet food would work. Maybe for 1.5 days. The little ice packs just wouldn't be large enough or insulated enough to do the job much longer. But I highly recommend these for those who travel a lot on weekends or for short trips.

defective design and not programmable
It's OK until it starts skipping over sections. I have owned 2 of these and both at some point got glitchy. There are not programmable, need frequent refilling, and not reliable while you are away. There seem to be better choices than this, but I haven't tried others yet.
It works great but my cat has figured out how to turn the dial to the next feeding. She just kind of helps herself to more food when she gets hungry!

Mine was broken right out of the box. Watch out.
I've been looking for a reliable way to feed my cat and thought this looked like a decent product, especially with so many 5-star reviews. I opened the box, put in a brand-new battery, made sure it was properly aligned and turned it on. Immediately, the feeder made this terrible creaking noise and the lid moved slowly as if the battery was dead. I swapped out the battery with two more to no avail. The LED wouldn't light. The lid wouldn't move. It's a dud.
Normally, I'd give a product a second try before leaving a negative review, but this is supposed to feed my cat -- the possibility that a new feeder might also seize while I'm gone for a few nights is completely unacceptable. After putting it back in the box for shipping, I came back on Amazon to read the negative reviews and I've discovered I'm not the only one who's had a bad experience with poor craftsmanship on this product.
The real shame is that my cat was incredibly curious about the feeder -- he seemed to like the noise and was investigating the lid from the moment I took it out of the box. Hopefully, he'll be as curious about one of the competing feeders.
I was pleased with this auto feeder. It is so simple to operate! The one I used prior was a hassle to set. Would recommend to friends.
Before making this purchase I wondered how good this product would be since some review that I read at the time of my first purchase were not the most positive. After using the Lentek feeder for a couple of years I continue to be a big fan and in fact purchased another one since I have two cats. This is a terrific automatic feeder that enables you to go away on trips without wondering if your cats are going to have regular meals. I needed a product like this because unfortunately my cats have the bad habit of stuffing themselves if a quantity of food is left out at once. This feeder has never failed to deliver food in accordance to how the timer has been set. The cats quickly learned the meaning of the slight sound that it makes and immediately rush to avail themselves of the food that it dispenses. I might add that it is durable and my cats have never broken into it.

Not Worth The Trouble
We purchases 2 units, one did not work at all right off. The return and exchange was smooth but then the replacement only worked intermittently. Decided to return both (see below). Disappointingly we were deducted the shipping in the credit of both units despite one not working for the second time. Why should we pay return shipping on a defective product? Beware what you try to buy over the internet.
The units are very hard to manipulate, anyone with arthritis or hand motor skills challenges should consider another device. The battery connection cord is not long enough to pull the battery out requiring you to insert the 9V into the chamber and then hope to snap the leads on properly into a recessed hole without damaging the tiny wires.
The motor is in a central hole that snaps into the base. Said "snapping" is an understatement, you really have to force the unit down onto the pegs. All of this stuff is plastic, you cannot tell if (when) you cracked something. The alignment is not too bad but not the best ergonomically with no way to line it up with any kind if marker once it is in the hole (so hope you get it right and try again, and again). Getting the central control unit out again is another worry. You have to pry your fingers under the lid and try to get both pieces up, no pull tab or finger notch. I dreaded refilling the bowls fearing when it would break or deflect.
Benefits, if 6, 12, or 24 hours is all the setting you need then the controls are easy. My cats did not figure out how to open it and they are capable of opening tupper-ware snap lids, but then I had a hard time opening it.
As I said, 2 of the 3 units tried did not operate properly. I cannot take that kind if chance hoping my animals will get food. For the hassle with operation, not worth the money, especially since the flimsy plastic did not appear capable of holding up long term. The warranty does not cover "abuse" so when the tabs break I do not want to argue over what is defective design vs. perceived rough handling.
This works perfectly. I can now leave the cats for up to a week knowing they will get fed. Easy to use, easy to clean. LOVE IT!

Works fairly well
We have 2 of these bowls and our two cats that have not been able to break into it in over 3 years of use. The top secures tightly to the base. Timer is accurate and works as stated. The only thing lacking on this for me is and 8 hour timing option. 6 hours is too short between feedings, 12 too long. Other than that, the bowl works well for us.
The cats I bought this for (2 tabby housecats) figured out how to turn the lid within 6 minutes of setting it down. I am pretty upset.

Doesn't work and no one at customer service number
I normally don't leave product reviews, but this is such a dud, that I feel compelled to warn others! This doesn't work.
I read the instructions and followed the directions to assemble the product. (I usually don't have problems putting things together; I assembled my elliptical exercise machine myself.) Here are the problems with this feeder - the cover doesn't cover (or reveal - whatever you prefer) properly, and the "advance" button (to mover the cover one cycle) isn't working.
1) The cover is misaligned -
The cover does not properly uncover one feeding tray unit; it uncovers most of one and part of the next. The motor unit locks into the base via some prongs/tabs (the motor can only be snapped into the base in one of two positions - at 12 and 6). The motor unit has a vertical slot for a tab one the feeder cover - so the cover hooks into the motor unit, so the motor will rotate the cover's opening to the next food tray section. The slot on the motor is lined up improperly so that the cover does not line up well with the food tray sections. The cover opening uncovers most of one section and part of the next. This isn't good. I can't manually correct it by twisting a portion of the motor unit (it doesn't seem to be adjustable and I don't want to force and break it); the directions are brief and do not address misalignment; and no one is answering the customer service number that came with the product. To be fair, it's Christmas Eve, but this isn't a federal holiday, and most places are open.
2) There is no way to test to see if the motor even works (or maybe that feature is broken) -
In spite of the cover problem, I want to try it anyway to see if the product works otherwise, but I can't. The motor timer has 3 options; it's supposed to turn the feeding cover ever 6, 12 or 24 hours. There is also a button for "advance." Since I obviously don't want to wait 6 hours to see if this will work, according to the directions, the "Advance button allows you to manually rotate the cover to the next feeder tray without changing the interval setting." So, I pressed it. Nothing. Power on? Yes - little green light is flashing. Press "advance" again. Nothing. Hm. Directions say "manually", so I try to press the button (disengage motor?) and rotate top myself, manually. Nope, won't budge.
So, the top doesn't line up, the advance button doesn't work, and "customer service" is an answering machine. No idea whether it will actually uncover another partial food tray at the next interval, so I'll have to get someone to come over to feed the cat.
If possible, I'll update this post if I manage to speak to customer service. Out of the box, however, this is a dud.

Best cat dish ever!
You need to be smarter than this dish! It works great, my cat loves it and we haven't had any problems with him breaking into it!
I have 2 cats who start waking me up at 0500 to eat. Not anymore! The timer works great; set to go off twice a day. No problems with my cats trying to pry to lid off either. I agree w/ other reviews that a timed timer would be nice and a identifying mark to let you know when the bowl needs to be refilled.

Works great for a food focused cat!
I bought this to feed my cat while I go away for the weekend, but in trying it out I found that it is quite helpful for everyday use for an overweight food-focused cat who doesn't like to be on a diet and constantly begs for food. Since I started using this, instead of meowing at me constantly for food, she now sits by the feeder waiting for it to open. Some little annoyances: 1. It doesn't have a clock on it, so you need to turn it on at the same time that you want it to open each time (for example, if you want to feed at 7am and 7pm, you need to turn it on at 7). 2. It is kind of difficult to open and refill since you have to line it up just right to close it. 3. If you hit the "manual rotate" button, it will not then automatically rotate at the set interval unless you turn it off and on again to reset it, so it would be easy to assume your pet has been fed, and later find out it has not. 4. It seems rather flimsy, and although my cat hasn't figured it out yet, I'm sure it could be broken into rather easily, especially by a large dog. I think it would work much better for a cat than a dog. 5. Although it has 6 slots for food, one of them is always open, so technically it really will only provide 5 feedings after you set it. Despite these annoyances, it is a good value for the price. Works great for my cat.

Functional, reliable yet room for improvement
I've been using this dish for a few weeks to feed my cat. I chose this design because the size of the food pellets doesn't matter like it seems to for other feeders. It's set for a twice a day feeding every 12 hours and the cat no longer wakes me up in the morning because she's hungry. That's why I bought it and it is wonderful!
What I didn't think about when I purchased this product is that the cat's dishes are in a corner of the kitchen. I have to physically rotate the feeder each day so she can reach the food. If I don't rotate it, she would have to stand on it to get to the food as the cover rotates every 12 hours so more often than not, it's unreachable.
Also, I find it a bit difficult to fill. You have to remove the center piece which requires some effort and prying. Also, it doesn't tell you when its on the late "turn" before it has to be filled again. I have a busy schedule and sometimes don't remember what date I last filled it and when I need to plan to fill it again. It would be great if the cover was clear so I could easily keep track of when to refill.
I'm happy I purchased it as it allows me to sleep past 4:00 AM, the time my cat used to stand on me each morning waiting for food.

Lentek 6-day auto ped dish
This product has saved us from going crazy. Our cats were waking us up at 4:00 in the morning every day. The feeder works like a charm. The only drawback is that if the cats need to be feed at certain hours, the timer has to be started accordingly. Also, one of my cats turned out to be a little smarter than we thought and he figured out a way to remove the top off. Thanks to one of the reviewers of the product we were able to find a solution to this problem. There are some holes on the bottom of timer and on the bottom tray that match. You simply have to place two 12mm screws through the holes and secure the ends with nuts. The only bad thing about this is when you have to change the battery, you have to remove the screws first to do so.

Lentek Automatic feeder
The Lentek Automatic Feeder arrived in a timely manner. I was a little skeptical as to whether my Siamese cat, Lily, would accept it.
She would wake me up very early every morning to be fed is the reason I got it.
The humming the unit makes when it is in cycle scared her but she finally got use to it. She was more hungry than scared.
It works great. I only wish it would feed 3 times a day. She doesn't need food in the middle of the night but she does like a snack in the afternoon.
All in all it is a very good product.

Working reliably here, also consider for pill dosing
About a year ago we bought one of these thinking it might work for wet food for a now-deceased cat. I would suggest that it's not really ideal at all for wet food except perhaps on the 6-hour setting where it would only be out for just over a day. They give you those ice packs but they're not going to stay cold for long. If you chill or freeze the food maybe that would help.
Anyway, the feeder languished for many months until I hit upon an obvious use for it with the other cat, recently diagnosed with hyperthyroidism. She now has to take half a pill twice a day, which we give to her in a pill pocket treat. We were coming up on a weekend trip trying to figure out how best to deal with this when I remembered the feeder. Turns out it works perfectly. We started with it well before we left and have kept using it even while home. I just load up 5 bins with the pill pockets, put the timer on 12-hour and off it goes. The cat waits for the machine to spin, too funny.
So here's what I can tell you: I haven't turned it off in a few weeks; it just keeps going very reliably every 12 hours. We're home currently at the times it goes off in the morning and evening, but it has never failed to operate. My cat will find her way into anything she can get into, but despite there being additional treats in there which she can clearly smell, she has not managed to break this open. She puts her nose into the compartment while it's still spinning, but there doesn't seem to be a danger of her getting anything caught. As with anything like this, though, you would certainly want to start out using it while you're home for a reasonable period so you can see how your pet reacts to it, whether it's secure enough with the extra food in, whether they eat as expected, etc.
So if you're feeding a modest amount of dry food, or something like this treat/pill, at 6, 12 or 24-hour intervals, I think it should work fine. There's no actual time setting here; it's just the 6, 12 or 24-hour intervals and an on/off switch. It seems to keep time just fine (the timing is the same every day), but this means to get precise times of day you will have to at one point turn on the power and press the manual spin button at the time you want (6 or 12 or 24 hours before the next feeding depending upon your setting). Takes a 9v battery that's a bit of a fuss to install, perhaps, and getting the cover and bottom aligned with the timer thing can be a little fussy as well. You do have to make sure it's seated properly. Once in there fully it's actually rather difficult to pry out of there, so should deter all but the strongest kitties (not sure about dogs). The machine is moderately loud. There are enough other noises and enough closed doors around here that it doesn't wake any sleepers, and it's not loud enough to scare this cat. The final thing to keep in mind is that it's only 6 days of feeding (or 3 days of twice daily, etc) if you can count the open bowl. (In the case of my medicine example I can't count the open one for a dose hours away; whatever is in the open slot gets eaten immediately!)
I'm actually now thinking of getting another identical one to double the amount of time it will work for the meds. You could do this to get larger amounts of feeding too, more days at two per day or 4 per day. For example, set two of them on 24-hour interval, but 12 hours apart instead of the same time, they should work in tandem for up to 5 full days worth of 2 per day doses. Since this feeder costs significantly less than some others, it may be more economical to get two and work that way vs other options.

I think they have QA/QC issues, mine is great
Here are some 'cons' in the top handful of reviews.
'It only has six trays so one is wasted'--not if you fill it at feeding time.
'My cats can get into it'--I think those are lemons. I've gotten callouses from popping mine open because it's so tight.
'The ice packs don't work for wet food in the last 1 or 2 trays'--If you put an ice cube on a counter does it last a week? Hint--if it did it wouldn't keep anything cold.
I think this thing is great. I've used two other automatic feeders and was extremely disappointed with both, so I thought I'd give this one a shot before dropping close to a hundred on another, and I'm glad I did. It's makes enough noise to work like a dinner bell to my cat, and so that I know the battery doesn't need to be replaced, but not so much that it's annoying. The fixed intervals aren't quite as good as a programmable electronic timer because you're limited to 1,2 or 4 feedings per day, but that's much better than mechanical timers which make you guesstimate feeding times, which can lead to an anxious pet. I had another feeder which had a lid that attached in such a way that my cat would beat like a drum if it didn't go off when I wanted, which isn't a problem with this. The only drawback is that it uses 9 volt batteries which are relatively expensive and don't last very long, but since this costs half what the other cost, I bought rechargeables and a charger with the savings. I couldn't be happier.

Wish I had bought it sooner
I have four cats ages 4, 4, 5 and 6 living with my husband and me in a one bedroom one bath condo. Our oldest would wake me up for his breakfast by jumping on and off the bed and purring loudly in my face earlier than my alarm clock and on weekends when I wanted to sleep in. Closing our bedroom door did not work b/c one of the youngest would sit outside and rattle the door and cry so I would just give in and feed them so I could grab a few more minutes of sleep. We bought four of these dishes so each can have their own because I did not trust the males to leave any left over for the female if we got the taller more expensive electronic feeder option available. I only bought it because we were leaving out of town for three days and were new to the area so did not know anyone close by to come feed them and check the litter box. Now I am so happy that they listen for the food bowl to feed them instead of jumping on me. I just have to remember what time I filled it so I can make sure it rotates and is not empty so they don't go back to associating me with putting out the food. We have it set on the six hour interval time and I use a half cup measuring cup and dry cat food. I fill three compartments with a half cup of food split between them and then do the other three. I use a weight control food and it only covers the bottom of the compartment so I think the meals keep them at a healthy weight and let me sleep through the night. Also no problems with any of the cats figuring how to break into it. They are patient for the next rotation. I had to assemble all four one week night about two days before our trip. I did not get how you just have to push down firmly to snap the lid down on the pegs but finally understood and luckily did not break anything. We have been about a month in on the six hour intervals and batteries are still going strong. I like that I can slide the food bowls under our queen sized bed during the day while we are not home and our landlord has our condo on the market so when realtors walk around the cat bowls are out of sight. At first the cats ran away from the sound and it was funny to watch them slink back to investigate with bodies low and ready to jump away with any sound or touch, but that only lasted the first couple of days. Now we watch them leap from their perches and run to the sound of their next meal.

Auto feeder for a good night's sleep!
I bought this for the kitty who has been waking me up at 3:00am begging for a snack. Worked great until last week, when kitty decided to start waking me up at 2:58am to tell me the feeder is about to rotate!
Seriously, this product has worked very well. The ice keeps the food cool for about 6 hours only. By 12 hours everything was room temperature, so I've started freezing the food to make it last up to 12 hours for the days I work late.
The only down side is that since I'm not using all 6 compartments, it's a little difficult to get the top lined up, reassembled to the bottom tray, and rotated to the right compartment, but once you get the hang of it, not too bad.
After shopping around locally to several pet stores and found nothing that I liked. Many of the dishes were just to big to fit our needs. I found this dish that was just perfect. At first our dog didn't know just what this was. The Advance Select option lets you rotate the dish cover to expose the food manually. This was very helpful in training our dog to the sound of the lid rotating and how the dish works. The compartments hold just the right amount of food. I especially like the Ice Packs underneath. We have had to take this with us from time to time and placed food and water in there that needed to be kept cold. The sleak design of this dish makes it easy to travel with. For us this dish works well. I turn the dish on around 8 or 9 pm and it is set to open a compartment 6 hours later.

Definitely not for wet food!
I bought this feeder hoping that it would work ok for wet food. My cat needs to eat wet food because of health concerns, so when we go on vacation it becomes an issue. Rather than putting her in a kennel we decided to give this a try. We tested it before we went to make sure the feeder actually turned at the times it was setup for and it did. I used the ice packs figuring that would help with the freshness. Since there is a cover on it, I hoped it would help keep the wet food fresh. When we came back from out 4 day trip, we found that all the food was there except 1 tray. I am not sure if it turned or not, but it didn't matter because the remaining wet food was moldy! I guess I didn't think that it would spoil that fast but I was wrong. I think this feeder would probably work well for cats that need to have the dry food rationed, but I would not recommend this for wet food!

Automatic Pet Feeder
The automatic feeder is o.k. It rotates on time and hold the amount of food is states it should. I bought it to leave out "wet" food. The only thing I don't like is the ice packs. They thaw out in a day, so any wet food left in there longer than two days actually spoils. I use it when I am gone for the weekend, but any longer than it's NO GOOD, at least for wet food.
I like this product, it works well for me. I use it when I am gone 2-3 days. I freeze about half the cat's food (in the tray)and refrigerate the rest before putting it in. I also use the ice trays. This way I avoid the problem some people have had with the food going bad. The frozen portion thaws out slowly. When you prepare the tray, be sure the food is in the right slot and rotation so that the frozen food is accessed last.

Nice little feeder
After reading all the reviews (thx everybody), I decided to get this.
I have a small schnauzer/terrier; he's only 17 lbs. and we occ. go away on wkends. I was a bit skeptical; seems many people have said their cats can pry off the lid. You guys must have some might hefty, strong cats. *I* had trouble getting the lid off to fill this thing :-)
I've been testing it; seems to work right on schedule. You do have to watch the time when you power up tho.
I gave it a 4, instead of a 5, because I wish you could set a specific time; but those types of feeders are very expensive. So, I'll deal with this.
I'm pleased so far. I'm wondering, does anyone know how long the battery would last; if only used on the wkends? A few months? Just one wkend? And do you know in advance what this dish does when the battery will fail soon? I don't want my little Oscar going hungry.
thx!
I have no problems with this product at all. It is simple and works like it says. I would not use it as a permanent feeder, but for out of town trips, which I do a lot, it works awesome.
This has saved so many headaches no more cat whining in the morning, fill it once a week and your good to go. great value I saw an 8 day feeder same style and it was over $100 at Petco

My puppy broke into it!
I purchased this for my puppy and she broke into it in about 3 days. She scratched at the top and got the whole lid off!! Otherwise this feeder isn't bad if you have an animal who isn't determined to eat all the food in the feeder at once. I was disappointed as I thought it would have some sort of locking mechanism on the lid so it didn't come up so easily. Maybe they need to figure out a way to lock the battery mechanism to the lid!

Neat concept...Not the most durable.
I just received my new pet feeder and after one week, I'm ready to return it. Other than it taking my dog 2 minutes to figure out how to get food out of the next compartment, the product does work. The timer isn't the most advanced, but did work everytime as long as the center piece is installed correctly. I will return this product for something more durable..if not my dachshund will be 30 lbs in no time.

cat broke into it on the third day
The design is very flawed. The bottom and top do not close completely, and so it is very easy for both human and cat to push the top over to the next food section. If the item were made of sturdier plastic or was more tightly fitted (with perhaps a screwed on top or something) then this feeder would be great. Alas, the ice packs are very thin, and it would have been better had they been electrically chilled instead of relying on ice packs (plus I feel a little nervous about mixing water with electricity, even if it is battery-powered). Also, it was difficult to install the battery - it would have been easier had you been able to pull the link out a little bit so you could snap the V-9 on with both hands and then stick it back in, instead of trying to snap them on at the same time hoping you're not breaking something inside the machine.

no more hungry cat!
Gave this to my daughter - she reports that it's terrific - she's glad to have the cat find food at 5 AM - those mornings of a cat standing on her, carrying on about food, are over - and she's very glad!
I've been using this product for about a month now, and I haven't had any issues with it. My only complaint is that the automation of it is a little loud, but once I got used to the sound (like that of a dying cat), it's not a big deal. You can see the trail of dust from my cat when she hears the feeder in the morning and evening for her 12-hour feeding.
As for resetting the time, it is pretty simple. All you do is slide the 6/12/24 hr timer setting back and forth, then into place, at the time you want it to release.
Excellent product. Works great. Allows me to keep cats at home, instead of boarding or having a cat sitter show up.
I think the automatic pet feeder is perfect for my needs. My cat only eats dry food and I think he would have it torn apart if there was wet food in the containers. I just fill it and forget it. It definitely uses batteries quickly and I wish it had a week battery warning.
One of our cats started waking us up at 4am wanting to be fed. I got three of these things six years ago, and the problem was solved. They have plastic gear mechanisms, and one of them wore out becasue the mechanism got clogged with cat food crud. Mostly my mistake, as now I know they should be popped apart and cleaned once a year or so. Anyway, I am back on Amazon to buy another one, which is testimony to the quality and value that I see for this item. As for the complaint that the eat batteries, I bought an AC/DC converter and some 9 volt battery connection clips at Radio Shack for about $15 that runs all three of my machines from one outlet plug. But these days I would recommend rechargeable (9volt) batteries such as the Ray-o-Vac rechargeable system that is also available on Amazon at a great price.
I just used it this weekend. I was gone for 4 days and i didnt have to worry about my cat eating all his food to fast. Im just not sure if the measurement for food might be a little small for a 24 hr period but thats why you have a choice of 6 or 12 hrs. Other than that i'm satisfied completely
I love this product & it worked great until the rats chewed through the thick plastic and ate the food.
I purchased this product to dispense medication/treats for my cat while I was on vacation. I am happy to report that it worked perfectly fine and I would recommend this product for pet owners for feeding or dispensing
treats/medication. The flexiblility of the 12 or 24 hour timer is exactly what was needed for my animal. I only had to have the pet sitter come in to refill it once while I was gone. I wish that the manufacturer would create an electric version to cut down on batteries usage. I would recommend this product to a friend.
We were looking for a weekend feeder for our cat. She enjoys her wet food but keeping it moist for more than a few hours is almost impossible. Alas, the Lentek 6-Day Automatic Pet Dish - a solution to our problem. It works great! We freeze the ice packs, place them in the bottom on the feeder, add as many cans of wet food needed for the length of time we will be away - usually set the timer for every 12 hours for a new compartment to open. It's easy to set up and clean and we come home to a happy kitty.

Good even for a smart kitty
My cat is pretty smart and extremely food motivated so I was very pessimistic after reading all the reviews on automatic feeders. Of all that is currently out there, I chose this one as it seemed to be the hardest to pry open.
My cat does tricks for food, has managed to open every kitchen cabinet and doors with round knobs. However, after two months now, there are significant scratches on the lid but this feeder has remaind unscathed and operable.
Some downfalls of the feeder: the battery is difficult to put in and doesn't last very long. Also there is no way to program what time to feed except for the 6, 12, and 24 settings so you need to put the battery in at the time of day you want the tray to rotate. But it is extremly simple to operate because of this.
I haven't tried the optional cold packs for wet food, but it works well for dry. It only fits about 3/4 a cup of food in each tray. All in all this is a great alternative to putting out food because the cat now just waits by the dish come meal time.

Good for cat, not dog.
Product works great for my cat, but my dog had no problem getting it apart.
Very nice dish, exactly as described. Food cups are a little shallow, however. I used it to feed a dog I was dog-sitting during the day while the owners were on vacation.
The dog is a Jack Russel Terrier. If she would have been a bigger breed, I don't think this dish would have been sufficient.
Nice for smaller dogs and cats, though!
