Product Specifications

Your pet can press this wireless doorbell to be let in or out. You don't need to stand around and wait while your pet goes outside. The Smart Chime is a wireless doorbell that your pet can easily be taught to use to let you know when he's ready to come back inside. You can also place the doorbell trigger inside for your pet to tell you when he needs to go out. The kit even comes with a standard door chime that your visitors can use, as well. The interior door chime is powered by three AA batteries; the pet switch requires a 9-volt battery, and the door switch is powered by a 12-volt 23A battery. Batteries are all not included. Select Dog or Cat to hear barking or meowing when the chime is triggered. The Smart Chime has a 100-foot range, so you'll be able to place the interior door chime in a convenient location. All mounting hardware is included in the kit. Pets can be trained to use their paws or noses to activate the wireless doorbell. Some pets may require more training than others, but using treats as rewards, you should be able to teach your pet to use the Smart Chime system in a week or two.

[+] 10.0 Easy to set up and train
Very easy to install and has great range. I stared with the button and the bell next to each other so Sadie could relate the pushbutton, chime (barking) and the door opening. It took 3 times for her to figure it out. Great tool for the dog that does not bark.

[+] 4.0 great AT FIRST...then stopped working
Great idea, my dog learned how to ring the bell but it stopped working intermittantly after a few months and then the button started to stick-we heard the ringing continuosly. Again, great idea but need to be made better and they need customer service to replace them.
Now I hang large Christmas bells by a rope both inside and out and my dog rings them.

[+] 8.0 Wireless Pet Door Chime
This is hysterical! My dog learned to use it in about 20 minutes. I have a one year old lab who would not bark to come in, but rather jump on the door and scratch up the door and screen. This item prevents that! Very easy to train your dog to use it! I have thick double sided tape to stick it to my screen door.

[+] 8.0 works great!
We use our door chime about 15-20ft from the paw pads and it works fine!

[+] 10.0 Only 3 stars?
I DIDN'T buy this product at first because of the lower reviews. I bought the Tell Bell instead. See my review of Tell Bell, and you'll see why I bought this product after all. Because of some of these reviews, I bought this product (the chime), plus the "extra" Paw Pad. When I received the package, THIS product did arrive with both the pad and the chime unit. So, I wound up with an extra Paw. That's ok. Better than not getting both parts.

Just using common sense training (click and reward) to teach my 11 month old, 40lb boxer mix to touch the pad to get the treat on the other side of the glass door, she learned it in less than an hour. It's easy for her to understand how to make it work.

The pad is big enough for her paw, she doesn't send it flying when she touches it, it has rubber feet to keep it in place.

That was Sunday. Today is Tuesday, and this evening she has already rung it on her own three times because she wanted to go outside (to see the kitty, but we'll continue working on WHY to go outside). Some reviews complained that the paws stopped working after a couple of years. If this lasts me 2 years and helps me train my dog to let us know when she wants to go out, that's quite alright with me. The 3-star average review is misleading, especially when compared with other products.

[+] 4.0 Rings randomly, basically usesless.
For the first several weeks, after my dog figured out how to use this product it was great. Unfortunately, after about 2 months it started acting up, where the receiver would chime at random times. As you can imagine this was quite annoying, and essentially made the device useless.

I don't recommend it.

[+] 4.0 Great idea, wish it worked better
Before I bought this doorbell, my pet beagle had the awful habit of clawing at the outside door to get our attention. He practically ripped the door apart, so I looked for an alternative. I received my pet doorbell several weeks ago, and was thrilled with the idea that I didn't have to keep repairing the door. The product itself looks exactly the way it does in the picture, but I discovered problems with it right away. I first tried to ring the bell with it on the ground. It didn't ring. I thought it was broken, then I noticed it rang when it wasn't on the ground. So I tested it over and over again to figure out what angle it needed to be at to ring. Then I realized it also wouldn't ring if the receiver wasn't placed in the right spot (relative to the doorbell). I decided to attach it to the door with some nails, and discovered my dog could not press the button with the paw facing up on the door. So I turned the paw over (toes facing the ground), and it wouldn't ring. So I tilted it at an angle using 2 other nails. It seemed to work for a while, but it wasn't consistent. At this point, I really didn't want to return it because my dog had been using it diligently (and the door was no longer getting ripped apart), so I tried testing out the angles once again. I realized it worked if I let the battery hang outside of it's compartment - it seems ridiculous, but it worked (finally). So now it is on my door to the yard, upside down at an angle, held up by 4 nails, with the battery (and the wire) hanging out. Eh, oh well... at least everytime I hear the doorbell ring it makes me smile.

[+] 10.0 Doggy Doorbell
THIS is a great product! It can be used indoors, to let owners know their dog(s) want to go outside ..... or mounted in a dry, secure place outdoors, to allow the dog(s) to signal when they want to come back in from their fenced back-yard. It's pretty easy to teach the dog to hit the "keypad" with his nose, and the dog loves the fact that he can come back indoors when he wants .... instead of hyaving to wait till his owner gets around to it!

[+] 10.0 MY DOGS LOVE IT
I THOUGHT MY DOGS WERE INCAPABLE OF LEARNING TO TELL ME WHEN THEY NEEDED TO GO OUT.

I LOVE TO HEAR THAT DOORBELL RING!!!!

[+] 4.0 OK not great
The paw works but the quality is very low. It is made out of cheap plastic and I found paper stuck inside. The bell rings randomly as others have noted. The random ringing happens if the button gets stuck down. It doesn't always pop back up after it is pushed. It isn't even water
resistent for those thinking of putting it outside.
The intercom part works fine and seems to be of decent quality. The barking option is just irritating though.

[+] 8.0 Great Product
For a couple of months I was struggling to teach my Choc Lab how to use it. He seemed to reach a plateau in the learning phase and wouldn't move further. This past week I worked from home so he was out of his kennel all day. Something finally clicked with him and the Pet Chime. He has been ringing the doorbell NON-STOP!! Even if it's only been 5 minutes since he was last out...he's ringing it again. So, he's totally figured out how to cheat the system. I guess I now have to teach him when is the "appropriate" time to ring.

[+] 8.0 Great Idea/Mediocre Execution
I have had this pet chime dog doorbell system for one year. The system I have worked great at its intended purpose. My dog was scratching to let us know when she wanted to go out and when we bought a new house I didn't want the new doorjambs to be covered in scratches. It took about two weeks to teach her to ring the bell consistently without first trying scratching. During this period I had some dog booties that she wore so that she wasn't scratching the wood during the training period. Training her to use it was not difficult. The product worked very well for the first eight months. I didn't have the problems with range from the receiver that some reviewers had with their units. Our receiver was about 15 feet from the furthest "paw" bell. At about eight months the outdoor receiver started to act up by getting stuck when the dog rings it and chiming over and over and sometimes being triggered by rain or wind and ringing repeatedly. Jiggling the paw stops it and it hasn't happened enough yet for us to trash it but seems to be getting worse. I am planning to order one of their replacement transmitter paws for about $12, not including shipping. I think we were fortunate that our unit worked as well as it did, given others comments it seems there is inconsistency in the quality of the product.

[+] 4.0 Great idea, poor reliability
This pet chime was a good idea, but I am sending it back. Sometimes the chime won't ring and at other times it rings on its own and worst of all it starts ringing and won't stop. Clearly the manufacturer needs to work on quality control.

[+] 10.0 Pet Chime Doorbell
This works great! However, be aware that once your dog learns how to use it, they really use! I think she is taking advantage of it a little bit. I would recommend it to anyone with a new pet.

[+] 10.0 One of my dogs took this a step further...
One of my dogs was only shown this once & she started using it right away, my other dog took a while. Funny story... I've had this product about a month now. Today it is raining (my dog doesn't like the rain as it gets in her face annoying her) today the doggie door was open but because it was raining she pressed the dog doorbell... she wanted me to turn off the rain, lol! Didn't work, but she tried!! I love this product & so do my dogs. Its well worth the investment & fun to train! *two thumbs up from us*

[+] 10.0 Great Product
Everyone that comes to our house has to laugh when the dogs ring the bell to go out. Very fast learning curve for the dogs. One of my dogs will occasionally lay down with the paw between her paws and put 1 paw on it so it barks continuously until I come. No problem with the range. I did have one that stopped working after a year and Lentex replaced it, with a compelete new unit, immediately.

[+] 4.0 Pet Chime
In December 2002, I purchased the pet chime and paw & two additional paws. I was extremely satisfied with them until the past couple of weeks. In the past couple of weeks 2 paws have stopped working for unknown reasons and repeated emails and phone calls have gone unanswered by Lentek. They're great, IF THEY WORK!

[+] 2.0 Does not work more than 1 foot away
I just got this from Amazon - working on returning there is no range between the PAW and doorbell chime. Even at 2 - 3 feet away with brand new batteries it seems to have issues. I thought it would be more usable than a hanging bell and easier to install with less holes and hardware. The PAW is more like a toy so you have to mount it and since there is no range u have to mount the reciever directly above it. With the range of the one I have it would of made sense to combine the two.

[+] 10.0 An awsome product!
For weeks I was trying to think of how I would get my dog to tell me when he wanted to go out. THis did the trick!
