Product Specifications

After making his major mark on the music scene in 2004 via Southside the Top 20-placing love-struck anthem on which he collaborated with Ashanti, Lloyd released his debut disc of the same title. In the years that have followed, he’s proven himself as a legitimate industry player, generating hits like 2006’s chart-topping 'YOU' and the infectious 'GET IT SHAWTY' which saw Top two placement last year. The latter was spawned from his gold-selling sophomore disc, Street Love. In Summer of 2008, Lloyd returns with his third effort, Lessons In Love. The hard-driving lead-in single, 'How We Do It' featuring Ludacris, a party track written by Lloyd and Wood Works and produced by Baby Boy & Superkidd, cleared the way for his new smash follow-up single, 'Girls Around The World' featuring Lil Wayne. Lloyd also enlisted some additional heat working with Polow Da Don and the team of Tricky & Dream 'Umbrella' & 'Bed'. Lloyd is ready to embrace maturity. With a successful recording career, obvious business savvy, genuine spirit and a connection to the community.

[+] 6.0 Lloyd - Lessons In Love
This is definetly Lloyd's best album. But honestly thats not say much. Because Southside was a terrible attempt to get some street cred, and Street Love's production was pretty bad for the most part. But i have always liked Lloyd because of his buttery smooth vocals. Lessons in Love is definetly not bad, but in all honesty, this album is really only good for one thing, and thats Baby Making. This whole album with the exception of the mid tempo ballad about heartbreak "Heart Attack", and the lame excuse for a dance track "Im Wit It", is about sex. But there are some great baby making tracks on this album, like the silky smooth Eric Hudson produced "Year Of The Lover" which could definetly be put on repeat in the bedroom. Or take the Polow Da Don produced "Party All Over Your Body", where he gently glides over the very sexual beat. Both are great tracks and show that Lloyd has alot of potential. But then corny sex songs like "Treat U Good" and "Touched By An Angel" tend to detract greatness from the album. But then again Lessons In Love did give us one of the best R&B songs of the year in "I Can Change Your Life", where Lloyd just gently sings over this amazingly produced mid tempo track about how he can change a girls life. Its truly a classic song. And then on "Love Making 101" Lloyds sounds like he is trying to channel his inner R. Kelly the way he croons over the accoustic guitar in the intro to the song. But the biggest problem with this album, is that it feels like he is missing something. And i dont know exactly what that something is, but there is a big part missing in this album. Its missing that song that holds the album together. Even though "I Can Change Your Life" is amazing, its almost feels like it doesnt fit on the album because of the reaccuring sex trend the album tends to have. But the one thing that is definetly better about this album is the production. The production on this album soars over the production of his previous albums. Overall, the album isnt bad, but it leaves alot to be desired from Lloyd because i know he has the talent and the voice, he just needs to figure out how to use them correctly.

[+] 10.0 Lessons in Love IS DA SHIZNITT! A MUST HAVE!
I am only 26 years old and I don't like alot of music thats out now. And I sure in the Hell don't write reviews but this album... I had to! I listen to alot of old school music & tend to stick to my favorites like Mary J. & Jill etc. But this album is REALLY GOOD! I've listened to Lloyd's other albums and they're alright, not bad at all. But On this album I can hear a maturing Musician. A evolving Musician. The feeling behind his lyrics can really be felt. The last track (1 of my favorites) on the Album "Heart Attack" sounds like a Jimmy Jam/Terry Lewis production. I'm feelin it! "Treat You Good" is sooooo good! And "Sex Education" ( I'm ready to be schooled!)LOL! "Year of the Lover" is FIYAH! I'm really proud of him on this album. I can tell he took his time, had lots of fun & put extra love into the creation of this album. This is what I call REAL MUSIC! Great JOB LLOYD! KEEP IT UP!

[+] 8.0 Present for Lloyd's Lessons
Having NOT been a fan of Lloyd since he first stepped on the scene with "Southside" and "Young Girl", my idea changed after having purchased Street Love. It was Lloyd's sophomore work that convinced me to give him a chance. To my delight, I was pleased and not too fretful in purchasing Lessons in Love.

The hit, "Girls Around the World" caught my ear and I knew that I had to find out more about the album that would soon follow this song featuring Lil Wayne. Typically I tune into AOL's Free CD Listening Party the day an album of interest drops but I was not fortunate this go-round. Eventually I found a website that provided snippets of the album and liked all but one track-I was sold!

This CD is the quintessential "baby making" disc. He does not disappoint with the sexy-laden sounds of "Sex Education", "Year of the Lover", "Have My Baby", "Love Making 101", and "Party All Over Your Body". While the production of the album is considerably strong, I did take notice that the lyrics are somewhat weak. The strongest song lyrically is "Heart Attack", which also happens to be my favorite because it was strong delivery-wise and instrumentally.

All-in-all this is a nice CD to listen to but don't expect an out-of-this-world theme or lyrics. I'll be tuned in to see if Lloyd has engaged in taking some lessons of his own for a stronger album-lyrically-for his fourth release.

[+] 8.0 Excellent, Lessons at it's best
With all of the teachings Lloyd gives on this album I would surely love to be his student. Lloyd comes correct once again with a mature R&B Album that was definitely needed. What I continue to love and respect about Lloyd is the fact that he never goes into this gangster type of crap or try to portray something that he is not. He continues to deliver good R&B and his voice is perfect for the songs that he comes out with. I can't stop playing this album, even when putting in another one while driving the car, I end up taking it out and putting in Lessons in Love. The album starts with Sex Education which is a song on how he'll teach you to fall in love. "I wanna get an A" is what his student says over and over and as the bass goes in and out the song sounds just right. Treat you Good is another nice track, makes you wish your man would say these things once in a while. Two of my favorite tracks are Heart Attack and Have My Baby. Lloyd sings his heart out on both of these tracks. Lose your Love is also once of my favorites due to the fast tempo and upbeat feeling to the song.

The album although is missing many leaked tracks that I was able to find online like "I need Love" feat. Dream and "Project Window". Hopefully these tracks will be eventually released if he decides to do a re-release on Lessons in Love. The album is worth it, go support Lloyd.

[+] 10.0 Recommended......
I purchased this album last week as recommended by a friend. I have to say before i first played this CD, I had not heard of who Lloyd was. So i gasve it a try and now i find myself playing this CD over again. Like 5 times iv heard the album today already. The voice, soul and lyrics are immense! Love this album to bits! If you never heard of this artist then i souly recommend you buy this album. Not sold in many HMV stores in UK. So it was a hard find but well worth the struggle getting this.

Why dont we hear about artists like this in the UK? The country is pop crazy!!

[+] 10.0 Lessons in Love is DA BOMB!!
I love the cd 100%. However I must say upon receiving my cd, I found some miscellaneous tracks that are not on the cd and would have improved the cd even more. But again, I love the cd, it's amazing and I am satisfied with my purchase.

[+] 6.0 I like his style
I like Lloyd's whole style: the look, the charm, the clothes, the hair, the business focus, and that wonderful smile, but it's his voice that'll make or break an album. I'm not one to purchase music just because someone is cute. I can't hear cuteness. But that's not a problem with this album or any of Lloyd's albums. Although this CD (as well as his others, all of which I own) have filler music and songs I'd skip over (ex. "Sex Education," "I Can Change Your Life," "Have My Baby," "Love Making 101," "Touched By An Angel," and "I'm Wit It), he ALWAYS has songs that make me want to press repeat (ex. "Girls Around the World," "Treat U Good," "Year of the Lover," "Party All Over Your Body," and "Heart Attack"). I'd recommend people check out a preview before buying the album because for the most part, I just want to buy a few singles on iTunes, but I'm still supporting him nonetheless. My favorite line was about him putting some girl on the stove so he could let her watch him cook. *head nod to Lloyd* Naughty, naughty.

[+] 8.0 Lloyd snagged a new a fan
I normally hate today's pop RnB, I think it has basically sound the same within the past 10 years. I'm freakishly annoyed by folk like The Dream, Trey Songs, R.Kelly, Ray-J, Jamie Foxx and even Usher. Too predictable and flat. But Lloyd's Lessons in Love is so refreshing, he definitely stepped the game up and I hope folk take notice. I know this album is beefed up with pricey sampling and production but that doesn't mask the fact that Lloyd is majorally talented. The sincerity in his voice reminds me of Michael Jackson and I'll tell you I haven't felt in no other RnB crooner today. Not only does Lloyd got that MJ thing going on, he's a perfect combination of Ralph Tresvant, Raphael Saddiq, Ginuwine and Earth Wind and Fire. Too slick.. As for the album itself, its really spacey/synthy which I LOVE. It got 80s type feel but it isn't overdone and corny, if anything is perfectly 2008. My favorite song is "I'm Wit It", I bought the album yesterday and already have over 15 plays. Anyway, I never buy albums and I bought this one. So I'm impressed.

[+] 6.0 2'5 - Good Intentions But A Dissapointing Result
After Two albums and a little success with the single "You" a re-write of Spandau Ballet's 1983 hit "True", 22 year old Lloyd Polite from New Orleans has established himself as a relativetely well known R&B singer that also appeared on countless of Hip Hop singles. Slow Jams or Club songs, romance or thug songs. Lloyd did it all and his sophmore album Street Love was quite enjoyable. If you take the love songs from Street Love and pair them with producers Big Reese & Jasper Cameron that produced the hit "You" and produce about half of the songs here you get what this album is mostly about. A concept album about love, romance and sex. Infact all of the 12 songs here are about something of the aformentioned issues and they are all very simular in style wether it's Reese/Cameron, Eric Hudson, Oak or Polow Da Don behind them. A concept album in modern R&B is rare, unless we're talking about R. Kelly's 12 Play and for that reasons I had high thought about this one, no club songs, no street songs and only the obligatory Lil' Wayne cameo that we undortunately find on most albums these days. But this album leave alot to be desired, most songs are simular and few stand out. First single "Girls Around The World" is not as effective as "You" and most others vary from pleasant to forgettable. Lloyd's vocals are alright, and so are the lyrics (even if songs like "Party All Over Your Body" feel a bit corny) but the album lack good hooks and production that stand out, not even Polow Da Don made a big effort with his beat. Credit goes to "I Can Change Your Life" from Mario's colleague Oak of the songwriter/production team Knightwriters, "Touched By an Angel" with a decent hook and "Lose Your Love" with a Ryan Leslie influenced beat. Buy this albums if you're a big fan or if like Lloyd's softer sides but otherwise stay away from it or try something simular. Hopefully he will step up one level on his next effort.
