[+] 4.0 Short wires
It gets the job done, however its very short because I can't get the volume adjuster part to even fit in my phone unfortunately. I guess that is my fault.

[+] 10.0 Works with the Verizon XV6800 Smartphone running WM 6.1
I love this device - it's the only one that allows you to plug in your own headset. And I am VERY HAPPY to report that it works perfectly with the Verizon XV6800 Smartphone (also known as the HTC 6800 or Mogul 6800 on Sprint). No one reviewing here had tried it with this device, but I wanted the functionality so I took a chance and ordered it anyway. It works perfectly! (Or what I've tried so far works perfectly - I haven't received any phone calls while listening to music yet.)

Note that I'm running Windows Mobile 6.1. I think it may not work for devices running WM 6.0. The audio jack functionality was altered with the OS upgrade. It may work, though - can't say for sure. It's worth trying!

[+] 10.0 Definitely A Product Worth Owning!
I purchased an LG Env3 and I wanted to stay within the LG products category since they made me such an awesome cell phone and TV. So I did a search for LG stereo headset after I realized my phone did mp3 music and this headset popped up first. And it showed up first in my search because it deserves to be recognized. I love this headset. Even with the stock headphones that come with it I have good loud stereo phone calls and music. And no, the audio quality with the standard headset is not spectacular, but LG knew that and made it to where you can use your favorite headphones with your cell phone for music. I owned a Samsung stereo headset to match my SCH-U740 and it did not offer stereo phone calls. So here are my Pros and Cons for the product as it stands having owned them for 5 months.

Pros:
+Provides stereo phone calls and music
+Goes as loud as you'd like and then some. I couldn't hear one of my friend's on my Jabra BT8040 but I heard him loud and in stereo with this headset
+Volume knob on the silver microphone piece for changing the volume on the fly
+Price is awesome compared to a bluetooth stereo headset
+Reduces drain on your phone battery by keeping bluetooth signal broadcast off
+Call button allows you to call the last number (press once), say a voice command (hold button), or hang up the call (press once again) with my Env3
+Designed to work with any set of 3.5mm headphones
+Has a spring tension clip allowing you to clip it to your clothing or to your seatbelt
+Worked as a hands-free calling device through the stereo and speakers in my car! (Details below)
+Lightweight. Could be used for running with the right headphones. I did not test this myself though
+I can run it underneath my shirt and clip it to my collar to hide the wire. The wire from the 2.5mm end to the control part looks to be about 2 feet long
+No complaints about sound quality no matter where I placed it to talk. Including under my sheets and comforter when I went to bed

Cons (of course)
-Low quality headphone included for mp3 playback
-The center control is where the weight is so if it isn't clipped to you and you lean over it will pull on the headphones
-Does not have wind reduction properties so windy environments may interrupt conversation
-The cord from the 2.5mm end to the silver control section is quite long not including added headphone length. Keeping it discrete outside of clothing would prove difficult
-Only way to mute a call is to mute it on the phone. Cannot mute the headset microphone

The cons all have to do with the individual. I love this headset more than any bluetooth I've ever bought. And I was going to tell you a story about the hands-free headset in my car. Well, I have one of those tape to 3.5mm headphone jack adapters that works in cars with tape players. I was on the road and I didn't want the headphones in so I plugged the 3.5mm adapter end into the headset, inserted the tape, turned up the volume, and made a call. It worked perfectly! I was able to turn the volume up on the radio and listen to the call through all of my speakers. The person on the other end told me that the sound was great until the volume in the car was up so loud that his voice was echoing back into the microphone. But the best part was that the headset wasn't clipped to me, it was in the passengers seat and I was having a conversation without the person asking if something was different. My next project will be seeing if my radio broadcasting adapter will broadcast my call through my stereo just as well. I'll try to remember to update when I know for sure. Trust me, if you're not hung up on being ahead of the technological curve with stereo bluetooth this headset will impress you without a doubt. Definitely one of the best purchases I will ever make and I can highly recommend it!

I bought these for my LG LX600 (Lotus) and the sound is amazing! Just note if you think they aren't working there's a volume control on the mic button.

[+] 10.0 Decent to good quality, great for the price
I bought this primarily for the headphones rather than the hands free aspect, so this relates to the headphones. They sound much better than I had anticipated, and I would recommend this for anyone with a compatable LG phone.

I used the hands free a couple of times and it works reasonably well, but does pick up enough outside wind noise to make it not practical on moderately to very windy days.

[+] 8.0 Durable head set and doubles as a converter
This LG head set is a very durable piece of equipment that doubles as a 2.5 to 3.5 converter. The 3.5 headphones that come with it are very short, but still work just fine as the total length of the two parts work well. Even if the headphones break (I stepped on mine) they can be replaced and still used with the converter/microphone.

[+] 10.0 GREAT BB Adaptor
Bought this to play BlackBerry MP3s on my car stereo or home theater system. BB doesn't make an adapter for this function. The LG model works great, affordable, and is exactly what I needed. NOTE: I don;t even use the headsets function.

[+] 8.0 Bought two a year ago, a third this Xmas - I'm happy
I bought two of these over a year ago, one for me and one for my daughter. My daughter uses them much more than I do and loves them. I just purchased a third set for my wife at Xmas. She uses them all the time now. All three of us have the VX8350. I like to be able to load podcasts onto my phone and listen in the car. If a call comes in this doubles as a hands free device - just hit the little button on the adapter, pick up the call. The built in mike allows you to talk to the caller and the headphones allow you to listen to the call without having to hold the phone up to your ear.

The adapter portion of this alone is worth the money I spent. You can use any standard set of headphones with a standard 3.5mm (1/8 inch) plug and adapt them to your LG phone. So if your not satisfied with the comfort or sound quality of the buds you can use your favorite headphones with the adapter instead.

I agree with the other reviewers that the buds are a little large (not as comfortable as the set that came with my 5G Ipod), but no worse than the set that Verizon sells with the V-cast kit. And unlike the V-cast kit these buds can pull double duty. You can unplug them from the adapter and plug them into any standard 1/8 inch jack. (The V-cast kit headphones must be plugged in through the proprietary connector in the phone.)

The asymmetric wires are a little annoying, but not a deal breaker.

I give this item a thumbs up.

[+] 8.0 It does what it's supposed to
I ordered these because I got sick of trying to find the perfect bluetooth. I always had problem with static background and it was just annoying me. I hardly talk on the phone while I'm driving but there are some emergencies (call from kid's school/elderly parents, etc.) in life you can't avoid the calls, so this is for those. It's clear and it's easy to use without annoying sound.

[+] 8.0 Very convenient but chews your battery
I was surprised by the sound quality of this, given the device and the price. I was pleased.

When you use the Chocolate adapter, the adapter and the cord from this device cover some of the side buttons which can be a pain if you need those buttons. So this is more the fault of the adapter, but since it will effect your use of this device with the phone, I find it worth mentioning.

As you can see from the photo, this device does have a cord-much safer for your health than a Bluetooth, probably, but of course you need to be careful not to snag the cord. There is a clip to assist in keeping the cord close to you.

I'm very pleased with this item, but it will chew your battery. Might want to keep a car charger handy, or an extra battery.

[+] 6.0 Not too happy with this headset
Having a stereo headset for my LG Rumor is great in theory but this product does not do it justice. First, the earbuds are too large for my comfort. I am a medium sized person and the ones that come with iPods fit perfectly. The cord with these are like 8 feet long. I can't even imagine what someone would do with all that cord?? The right headphone cord is way longer than the left since you're supposed to wear the cord behind your head. Instead of reinventing the wheel I wish LG would have made the headset similar to the white iPod earbuds with a minimal mic built in somewhere.

[+] 10.0 Great Set of headphones
Just bought these because i got a new phone and wanted to listen to my music with it. Sound quality is great, length of the cords are fine, and since half of it is an adapter, you can plug in whatever other headphones you like to patch through to the 2.5. Highly recommend!

[+] 8.0 Product good; initial merchant stinks
Finally got this (quickly) from a second merchant after waiting a month and multiple phone calls (and no refund yet) from Bargain Cell (listed as "in stock").
So far, I like it. Can't say yet about the quality of sound, as my first and only use was in the wind on a bicycle, but I like its many features:
a built-in 3.5-2.5 system so you could use your other mp3 headphones. There's also a volume control, which I really like, as the sound was too loud from mp3 files on old mono headset.
Price seems quite reasonable.

[+] 10.0 Fine product
The LG hands-free stereo headset is a fine multipurpose product.
It is usable as a telephone headset with a good quality cord mounted microphone and of course as a stereo headset for listening to program material from one's media enabled cellphone. The ear-buds are typical mid-fi quality but the cord-set has the option of unplugging the buds and inserting real headphones which offers better quality sound. Also by unplugging the head-set and using a 3.5mm adapter cord one can plug their phone into a media jack in an auto or other audio device and have a speaker phone of sorts. I found that if the volume was not too loud it will work well. This set should work in other brands of cell phones but I have not verified that to date.
In conclusion. Very good versatile product, good price, prompt shipping from supplier. An overall excellent shopping experience with Amazon results in a five star rating.

[+] 10.0 Excellent headset
I first received this headset when I purchased my LG phone. It quit working after I'd used it for about 18 months, so I just purchased another one because this is the best headset I've ever owned. With this headset, I can hear the other person loudly and clearly, and the person on the other end can also hear me clearly, with no background noise. The volume adjuster works well.

[+] 2.0 Perplexing and unusable
Not sure what LG was thinking with this one. The earphones conect to the microphone module using 3.5 mm plug and the microphone module connects using a 2.5 mm plug and the phone uses the LG proprietary USB connector. I firt bought a 3.5 mm USB adapter which let me connect the earbuds to the phone and seemed to work, but to use it as a hands free phone I had to also by a 2.5 mm plug adapter. My last LG phone had a 2.5 mm headphone adapter built in and that was what I was expecting when I bought the phone. I actually have more $ invested in adapters now than headphones and it still does not work well. Boo to LG all the way around.

[+] 10.0 Great stereo phone headset!!
I wanted to use a standard corded stereo headset for my ENV2 phone, and thought all I needed was a 2.5mm to 3.5mm adapter, then simply use an existing headphone, but that did not work as expected (I simply heard sound from 1 side).

the 2.5mm jack in the env2 phone is not just for the headphone, but for a microphone input as well... So one needs 3 little bars on the 2.5mm jack (1 for microphone, and 2 for stereo headphone).

all that being said, this headset from LG did the trick, (you can even plug in your existing 3.5 mm headset into the LG connector if you are not happy with the headset they included). It turned my ENV2 into an excellent mp3 player.

CON: no earpads come with their headset.

[+] 10.0 Buy it for the adapter
Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R1KCN3V4K6USZT This is my video review for the LG Handfree Stereo Headset. One thing I forgot to mention is that the earbuds included don't have the soft cushioning that come with most other earbuds and keep them in your ear. However, if you're buying it for the adapter to use with your own earbuds, you're in for a treat.

I'm using the LG Chocolate VX-8550.

[+] 6.0 Doesn't work for Treo 750 or other palm devices
This was supposed to be a simple replacement for the poor factory stereo hybrid headset that came with my Palm Treo 750. Previously I had to carry an mp3 player separate from my cell phone. I listen to my player all the time, so a good quality pair of comfortable earphones was a necessity.
Unfortunately, most hybrid headsets have lousy uncomfortable earphones that sound like crap.
Then I found this headset. What a wonderful concept! A 2.5mm stereo headset plug that ends with a microphone and a jack that allows me to plug my own earphones into it. Unfortunately there were several issues.
The biggest problem is the pinout. When I first plugged it in, it played music in the right ear only and the microphone didn't function. I came to find out that the pinout for the palm devices is different than the pinout on LG and other so-called "standard" devices. But for the price and the anticipated gain I decided it would be worth re-wiring them.
For those palm users who are looking at these I'll post below exactly what I did. But for review sake I'll continue on the product...
Once I was able to change the wiring to go along with Palm's methods I found it to work out just perfectly.
The set comes with it's own earphones which are about the same quality as those you get with a phone or mp3 player - or in other words, junk worthy of nothing more than a backup in the glove box for worst case scenarios or sharing with a passenger. But I didn't buy this for the earphones. I bought it to plug my Koss earphones into. This works just right. The microphone is not excessively heavy and has a clip on it to attach to a collar or shirt. The jack is sturdy and the plug from my earphones stays in nicely with no additional static or noise from moving around. The microphone provides clear voice even in my convertible with the top down. Pushing the button while the music is playing when no call is coming in activates the voice command built into the phone and allows me to voice dial, pushing it when the phone is ringing answers the call and pushing it while on a call disconnects the call - all without ever having to touch the phone. There is a small volume wheel on the microphone part as well to control the volume to the earphones.
As for the cons, the cord from the plug to the microphone could really use and extra foot or two. The length is about 2.5 feet - maybe 3 - I never measured it. My re-wiring only took about half an inch off the total length. Still, in the end, the goal was to spend less than $10 and be able to use my own earphones which after my modification works flawlessly. If you don't have a palm product it should be very nice. If you do, it can still work, but with the following modifications....

OK. Here's how I modified it. The problem is that on a palm device, the tip of the plug, pin one, is the microphone. Pin 2 is the right ear, and pin 3 is the left channel. On the LG - or any other "standard" hybrid headset, pin one is the left channel, pin 2 is still the right earphone, and pin 3 is the left earphone.

The solution is to cut the cord about 4-6 inches above the plug. This will give you extra wire if you make mistakes. It will also keep the heat away from the microphone section.

Carefully strip about an inch and a half from both parts where you cut the wire. Inside you will see red, green, and blue wires along with some bare copper. The bare copper is your ground. The colors are a thin insulator that is semi-transparent.
Next you will need to tin the ends of the wires. Use a soldering iron to burn off the insulator. Use a lot of flux to do this. It will cause the stuff to liquify and drip and you will have to clean your iron several times. After this, use some more flux and some rosin core solder. Get the solder on the tip of the iron and then carefully drag the tip of each wire through the solder several times till it is a nice silver color.
Once you have the wires prepared, you simply connect them. The copper and copper go together. The red goes back to the red as they are the right channel which is fine. The blue and green get swapped. Blue to green and green to blue. Hold each pair that you want to connect together facing each other just as they were before you cut it but overlapping where the soldered ends are. Then briefly touch this overlapped portion to the iron and they will solder together.
Next, get some electrical tape about 1 inch long and cut it in half down the middle. Use this to put a small wrap around each wire where it is soldered so you don't cause any shorts. Then wrap the whole thing in shrink wrap or electrical tape. I used a white tape to look nicer.
Now your headset should function properly on a palm device.
I hope this helps other palm users I looked all over for this info and pretty much had to wing it. Maybe I can at least save some other people some time.

[+] 10.0 Use the included earphones or your own!
I bought this for my girlfriend's LG Chocolate 2. She hated the headphone that came with the verizon's music package. My idea was she could use her old ipod's headphones she loves since you can plug any regular earphones to this adapter and still be able to receive calls using the embedded mic and answer button. She ended up getting used to the included earphones. She uses it when she goes jogging or to the gym, it has a clip to secure it to your clothes. The only netgative will be the cord being to long, specially if you add your own earphones you will need to tie them short.
For the price and it's versatility and quality you can't go wrong with them.

[+] 10.0 Works perfectly
I bought this to go with my LG VX-8550. The headphones that come with the headset aren't all that good. The good part is that the adapter uses a standard 3.5mm (1/8 inch) headphone jack, so just about any headphones work with it. I happen to use a pair of JVC HA-FX-66-B which are noise-blocking. The button on the microphone/volume piece can activate various features on the phone, such as answering calls, hanging up, and entering the voice command menu.

I also used this unit with a cassette adapter and my car's radio. The sound comes over the car's speakers loud and clear, and callers reported that they could hear me reasonably well. I had the microphone/volume piece clipped to the seatbelt on my chest. I had the windows rolled up, and drove at highway (65-75) in my not-overly quiet car.

All in all, this is the perfect unit for my uses due to it's flexibility. The only way it could be better would if it were cordless, but Bluetooth seems to be more hassle than it's worth.

[+] 10.0 Perfect for me
This headset is perfect for me. I wanted to be able to connect regular stereo headphones to my phone (samsung glyde), so at first just looking for an adapter. Then I found this, and its more than what i was looking for.

It comes with its own earbuds, but you can switch them out with any pair of regular headphones (which is what I've done). And now i listen to music on my regular headphones. And when a call comes in, the music mutes, and i can answer/or end the call on the adapter part, and use my regular headset to hear the caller, and the speaker is on the adapter so i can speak to the caller. There is also a volume nob on the adapter.

So like I said this is perfect for me, it works great.

[+] 10.0 LG Headset is great
This is a great product. First, it has the 2.5 mm plug and then it converts it to 3.5 mm so you can use any headset or connect it directly to a a set of speaker or a car player. Also it has it's own volume control. It also works great when the cell phone rings, you can press the button and answer the phone while the music is put on hold. Good earbuds.

Great product! Great value.

[+] 8.0 Great product for the price!
I bought this for my LG enV2 (VX9100) and it works great! I actually think the ear buds that come with the adapter work fine. I compared them to my iPod ear buds and didn't notice much of a difference. I was actually getting deeper bass from the LG ear buds.

My reason for a 4-star rating is because I felt the volume knob on the side of the volume controller is just a little stiff and is recessed into the controller just a tad too much. Also, it would've been nice if they had included foam covers for the ear buds. LG has a funny color scheme going with their headsets too. I would've preferred these in black rather then silver and blue.

Other then that they work great for the price! Answering and talking on the phone with them is easy and works great. They serve their purpose beautifully.

[+] 10.0 OEM LG Unit!
Didn't realize that this item was an OEM LG item so it was a pleasant surprise when I received the item! As others had mentioned, the BIGGEST selling point is the ability to use your own headphones. SWEET!!

If I had to take points off, it's the dull gray color of the wires but being able to leave my iPod at home in favor of my combo LG Chocolate MP3 player/cell phone is well worth it.

Buy this. You won't be disappointed!

[+] 8.0 Great Value
The quality of the headphones is not top noch, but what can you expect for less than $10 including shipping? The functionality is great and I love that it is a two piece unit, allowing you to connect your own quality headphones. I actually love these headphones for talking in noisy rooms. Very easy to hear the person on the other line.

[+] 8.0 Perfect for ANY phone with 2.5mm jack
This has been the perfect item for listening to music with my phone.

Pros: Allows for use of any headphone set. The microphone part works great! You can clip it to the top of your shirt and talk like normal. The people I have talked to using it couldn't tell that I was using it. Volume control is very nice feature as well.

Cons: The earphones that come with the item are HORRIBLE! I compared their music quality to iPod headphones, and the sound quality of the included headphones is very poor indeed. Also, if you use your own headphones, there is a lot of wires hanging everywhere. I have tied up lots of the cord with a twistie tie to cut back on dangling cords.

[+] 6.0 Works fine, but there are better/cheaper options
I have the LG Scoop (with a 2.5mm jack). I atually bought this at Best Buy, and it works just fine. BUT, the cord is very long! Between the length of your own headphones and the length of the converter...it's crazy!! The answer/microphone/clip piece is unnessary. It adds extra bulk when I would rather talk to my friend though my phone, not a microphone. Instead, I bought the Motorola Headset Adapter (3.5mm to 2.5mm) for about $10 (with tax and shipping included). And it's sooo much smaller and works great (the LG Scoop needs the 3 ring, and the Motorola is a 3 ring).

[+] 10.0 Nice Bass Sound!
Finally some low cost earbuds with bass. I plugged these into my phones and my mp3s sound awesome, so I took them home and compared them to some cheap jvc ones I got at walmart and noticed these are way better, so I use them for everything now. First earbuds I have ever gotten that has bass without the tin sound.

[+] 10.0 BOOYAH! This thing is a must-have!
mine didn't come with the earbuds for some reason, but i wasn't going to use them anyway. however, the adapter is WELL worth the money and works perfectly with my LG chocolate. i highly recommend one of these for anybody that wants to listen to music on their cell phone but doesn't want to pay a bunch to do so.

[+] 8.0 Headphones Crap, Adapter and Mic are Spectacular
The headphones that are bundled with the adapter are garbage, they fall out constantly and have terrible sound quality. That being said, the price is worth the adapter alone and the mic is crystal clear when answering calls handsfree. If you have your own prefered quality headphones and need an adapter to be able to listen to music off your phone, I highly recommend this product.

[+] 8.0 LG headphones
They work pretty okay, sound quality is good. The only issue with all earphones I have- They do not stay in place and fall off. I dont know whats the solution for this. Overall, they work pretty fine.
