Product Specifications

The Wireless-N USB Network Adapter uses the very latest wireless networking technology, Wireless-N (draft 802.11n). By overlaying the signals of multiple radios, Wireless-N's Multiple In, Multiple Out (MIMO) technology multiplies the effective data rate. Unlike ordinary wireless networking technologies that are confused by signal reflections, MIMO actually uses these reflections to increase the range and reduce Dead Spots in the wireless coverage area. The robust signal travels farther, maintaining wireless connections up to 4 times farther than standard Wireless-G.
With Wireless-N, the farther away you are, the more speed advantage you get. It works great with standard Wireless-G and -B equipment, but when both ends of the wireless link are Wireless-N, the throughput can be increased even more by using twice as much radio band, yielding speeds up to 12 times as fast as standard Wireless G. Your wireless connection is protected by industrial-strength 256-bit encryption. The included Setup Wizard will walk you through configuring the adapter to your network's settings, step by step.
  • FCC, CE, and IC-03 certified, and is backed by a manufacturer's limited three-year warranty
  • Features 256-bit Wireless Protected Access (WPA2) encryption at either 64 or 128 WEP key bits
  • High-speed Wireless-N (draft 802.11n) networking for your desktop or notebook computer
  • MIMO technology increases the range up to 3 times the distance, at speeds up to 15 times that, of standard Wireless-G
  • Modulations: 802.11b: CCK, QPSK, BPSK; 802.11g: OFDM; Wireless-N: BPSK, QPSK, 16-QAM, 64-QAM
  • Network adapter is easy to use, and can be plugged in to any open USB port
  • Product Type - Wireless Adapter
  • Warranty - 1 year

[+] 10.0 For the Novice Installer
It has been a long while since I've installed a networking system. At best it was a pain and the reliability/compatability was always questionable. This is truly a plug and play product. If you can put gas in your car there is absolutely no reason why you cannot install this on your own. I've had it for a few weeks now and it works flawlessly.

[+] 10.0 I love it
it's really good to use where you are not able to have internect connection even though you have internet connection in your house.

[+] 10.0 Great adapter!
This adapter enables me to get onto our wireless network on a different floor, with the signal going diagonally down through walls, a rock/metal fireplace, the washer and dryer, and into a closet! It is plugged into my computer with the USB cable. I did need to put it up on a shelf and secure it in one direction to get the best signal. It went from 1 bar to 3-4 bars when I adjusted the location and antenna direction (use the base and do this!).

Our router is a Linksys WRT300N, but since we have other computers in the house that are b/g, the router is set to "Mixed". I think this would get an even better signal if the router were able to be set to "Wireless N only".

[+] 2.0 Not compatible with G
This new router was sold to me before they mentioned that I needed N adapters for two older computers. The N router is horrible. Before, I was able to access WiFi with the Ipod Touch and now I can not access the Net at all, even with my computer(s). I have either dropped signals or no signal. Ironically, my old USB G adapter is able to pickup my neighbors internet signal no problems, but I can not pickup my own signal from the WRT160N router in my own house! When I first called, the helpdesk gentleman put me on hold for 15 minutes while I could hear laughing in the background and then he hung on me with no call back. The next person (woman) was nice, but stated that I now needed N adapters and that my poor /lost signal was unavoidable. I purchased two N adapters and I am still waiting for an overdue shipment.

[+] 2.0 Very poor performance
I ordered this adaptor to replace a wireless G adaptor that I've had for a few years. I also purchased a new Linksys wireless N router. After several hours on the phone with Linksys I got it working, but discovered that it was actually slower than the wireless G router I currently have. Tech support couldn't figure out any way to get it performing better so I returned it and I'm sticking with the G for now.

Regarding customer service, I have had numerous Linksys products and I'm not sure why I keep putting myself through the headache. I'm 99% sure that their tech support is based out of India which isn't unique but makes it difficult to communicate. As a general rule, I have found their tech support to be the worst I've ever dealt with.

[+] 6.0 Slow, but at least it works
This wireless n adapter is slower than any other adapter in my house. I get slower speeds with this than with my built in wireless b/g adapter in my notebook (in the same location). Even with the two "antennas" it has poor reception range.

That said the adapter does work and seems to be reliable thus the 3 stars.

[+] 8.0 Its worth it.
This is great for anyone who needs thier signal boosted, or dosnt have an internal Wifi adapter. I really love the meter long external USB stand. I work in a large condominium building and picking up wifi can be tricky in my location. Ever since buying this product, I have mobility with the extension stand. It definatly boosts my signal and has great connectivity.

Lets face it: Not all laptops have the best internal Wifi. (even mine). I have a great PC, but this tool helps me get a connection and stay connected.

[+] 4.0 good, when it works
The Good - Extension cord comes with it so you can position device for best reception possible. Ive seen pretty high transfer speeds.

the bad - overheats/overloads quite easily. If you run a torrent program for instance and get too many connections.. it just overloads and loses connection. I find myself unplugging the device and replugging it in to have it re-detect the wireless signal quite often....even just regular web browsing. This happens on xp,vista and win 7 and connecting to a linksys router. I do keep my pc on 24/7 so that may have something to do with it.

Id think maybe I just got a bad device but to be honest.. every linksys product Ive owned seems to have problems,, be it a laptop card or whatever.. Its really quite aggravating actually. I think this might be my last linksys product I buy.

[+] 8.0 Linksys WUSB300NN Wireless Network Adapter
I had a lot of problems getting my wireless network to work. The fault was mine rather than the product. However, the support provided by Linksys was available any time I needed help and the various people assisting me the numerous times I called provided EXCELENT assistance. I would recommend a Linksys product just for the support they provide.

[+] 6.0 good not for all jobs
this product is good if you just surf the web read mails and things like that. If you are a gamer/ hardcore downloader THIS IS NOT the product you're looking for. When downloading large files from multiple destinations it can't handle it and will shut down. When playing online it will just stop working until you have to unplug it and plug it again. I've install the driver even from the linksys site and that does not fix the problem. They even stopped supporting this product. The last driver date is 12/04/2007 for the WUSB300N. The speed is fine and all but not for my needs.

I haven't gotten my HP Pavilion running XP to recognize it, but there may be other issuses (like the numerous other adapters I've previously tried on it). Installed easily on 4 other machines, mostly Win 2k. Very good connection signal.

[+] 10.0 Linksys Wireless N Adapter
Adapters were only about $26 which is a great price. Was using wireless G in a home network and having problems with sluggish speeds. Adding the wireless N router and adapters made a significant difference.

[+] 8.0 Good but difficult
This is a good product if you can get it to work... 1) good luck finding the drivers, I had to look on forums and finally found one that would work on the non-US site.

Once it's working though it does work! :D

The USB cables that it ships with are nice. You can either a) connect direct to computer USB port b) use short 6 inch USB cable c) use long 4 foot (?) weighted desk standing USB base. The weighted desk standing base can be used for any USB device, so can double as a handy desk standing USB port for other USB devices.

One complaint is that Linksys doesn't seem to have implemented the router push-button easy configuration (can't remember the official name for it) for use with the WUSB300N. In comparison, Netgear's competing USB wifi N adapter (looks like a white shark's fin), with the latest driver software from the netgear website, asks if your router has a push button (my Linksys WRT100 router does) and was idiot proof from install to config to using. You don't even need to know how to spell WPA2. So if Linksys can: a) post drivers on the website, b) do what Netgear has done with the driver software, then this product will be user friendly as well as good.

:o)

[+] 8.0 Works perfectly once you have the right driver installed.
There are reports on this product working in Windows x64 and not working. In my situation (Vista x64), it is a YES, but the catch is you need to have an existing network connection that you can use to update your Windows. Assuming you have a connection, then just plug this card in and let Vista do all the search for you. If it still can't locate a driver, use Windows Update. There is an update called "Marvell - Network - Wireless-N USB Network Adapter". If you install that one (presumably you can also download it from somewhere), the card will work perfectly.

[+] 6.0 Great once you get the driver
64-bit Windows users beware, Linksys does not have compatible drivers published, and neither does anyone else. However, if you have another internet connection established, and then install the WUSB300N, it will find alternate drivers via Windows Update! Also, this driver has issues with coming back from standby.

[+] 2.0 Unstable, unreliable, unworthy
My experience is similar to that of several other reviewers: this adapter does not work reliably with my 64 bit Vista system. It dies frequently requiring disconnection and reconnection to the USB port to get it going again. The Linksys website is of no help: no information other than similar complaints from other users and no new drivers

[+] 10.0 I love this product
I was having trouble receiving and keeping a signal in airports and hotels. My laptop has a built-in mini wireless device that is not very strong unless you are very close to the source. I could receive an excellent signal if I sat in a hotel lobby, but back in my room I had nothing but trouble. Someone suggested this adapter so I gave it a try. I love it. I have had no problems connecting at hotels since I bought this adapter. I am running Vista. I can honestly say I have not had one minute of trouble. I am buying another one for my older laptop at home since I now have wireless at my home. I would recomend this adapter to anyone who needs extra signal strength.

[+] 2.0 I hate this product
I have a desktop with XP on it and a laptop with built-in wireless. Both are my living room and the wireless router is down the hall. The Linksys USB wireless network adapter loses its connection three to five times a day. My laptop never loses a connection, so it obviously isn't the signal strength. To get the USB adapter working again, I have to unplug it and plug it back in to reset it. Also, if I use another USB port on my computer then it kills the wireless connection and I have to unplug it and plug it back in. This makes me crazy b/c I use my desktop computer to stream music while I work and I know right away when the usb adapter drops its connection and I have to reset it. Now I'm looking for a wireless LAN extender that I can plug my desktop into directly and throw this usb adapter in the garbage.

[+] 10.0 Crazy little thing ...
I bought this USB Wireless N adapter to replace a Linksys Wireless-N PCI Adapter WMP300N that didn't work at all on my kids computer (Dell Optiplex GX 110.) That card was good when I tried it with a Dell Dimension 9100, but had an incompatibility issue with the old Optiplex. So, trying to stay with Linksys, I decided to try the USB version.

I'm glad I did. The installation was a breeze (didn't use the Linksys drivers), and the computer works seamlessly with the adapter. The kids have a blast with their Internet games. I tried the adapter with a laptop and the Dimension 9100 and had the same results.

Now, the kids want a newer computer; but, that's another story ...

[+] 10.0 Excellent product
I use the Linksys WRT150N Wireless N Router at home with my PS3 and 2 computers. I use the Linksys WUSB300N Wireless-N USB Network Adapter (the item being reviewed) with my desktop since the router is in a different room and I don't want to run cables. I have a wireless G card for my laptop, but I switch to the USB adapter when I'm not using it on my desktop because it gets a much stronger signal and faster downloads than the card. In short, I love it. Being on a USB cable and having a stand, you can either plug it directly into the computer, or set it a little bit away from the computer for better positioning.

Wireless-N much better than Wireless-G. Be able to conveniently plg this device into a USB 2.0 port, is great. You can even tether this device up to 6 feet away from your PC to get better reception.

[+] 2.0 Do not buy this product
This is a terrible product and the tech support is useless. I spent three days and multiple calls to tech support to get this thing to work and they had me do everything possible under the sun--click this button, change that setting, unplug this wire, bring in another laptop, get a new ethernet cable, touch your nose with your tngue (ok, I made that last one up)--but nothing worked. The Linsys forums are replete with the "bugginess" of this this product. Save your time. Save your money. Buy something else--anything else.

[+] 10.0 Great range and speed
My D-Link wireless-n router (3 antennas) is in the basement and on the other corner of our sprawling house from our office, maybe 60 feet and one floor away, with heating & AC ducting between. The Linksys adapter has no trouble communicating at around 50% signal strength & 108Mbps to 216Mbps speed, while the D-Link wireless adapter on my wife's computer in the same room often limps along at 5-10Mbps & sometimes loses connection entirely.
I think part of the Linksys advantage is due to its 2 little exterior adjustable antennas which allow you to tune reception for a specific direction, while the D-Link relies on an internal antenna.
Install was straightforward & easy on my dual-boot box (Win2K & WinXP) and works great with both operating systems. It was a little spendy compared to the D-Link adapter, but well worth it in terms of better overall functionality. Would definitely purchase again.

[+] 10.0 Excellent addition
Since I have a Linksys Wireless N router and now need a little more distance and strength than the built-in wireless G in my computer I decided to try this, despite the cost. My throughput is now twice my nearby wired connection, over 200k bps! Dependable strong signal and it goes further!
I recommend purchase for those needing higher and stronger connections, especially if you already have the Linksys Wireless-N router.

If you need additional range, you will find that this is an excellent prdouct. I live in a 5 level home, with one of three computers on the top level. When I was using the G adapter the range was limited to two floors. By using the N technology I will able to remove the ethernet cable strung though out the house and receive a strong signal 4 levels from when the wireless modem was transmitting.

[+] 2.0 Gives Linksys a bad name...what a terrible product!
I've been using wireless network stuff for years and I've always had a preference to Linksys products in the past because they have a tendancy to be compatible with just about any wireless network I have encountered. This card is the exception to the rule. I bought two of them and I was not able to get either of them running reliably using the N standard. In case you're wondering, I'm not trying to get it to work with a Belkin or Buffalo or other off-brand router; I'm using a Linksys WRT300N router. It was only when I switched my router to B+G only that I was able to get these to connect and stay connected reliably..using wireless G. I talked with tech support, they even replaced the adapters to see if new adapters would work. I upgraded my firware on the router and even in clear line of site situations, well within the rated specs, this would not work reliably. I kept the card and now run in in G mode and it runs fine, it's a great wireless G card, but if you are looking to take advantage of wireless N features, keep looking because this is not the card for you. Also, beware of hardware incompatibilities. Linksys told me that this is not compat

[+] 2.0 Very disappointing adapter
I researched a couple of wireless devices prior to purchasing the Linksys router and adapter. I figured, "Both from the same company. This should be no problem." This adapter is terrible. Dropped connection, poor signal, freezes the USB port. I read several forums and followed the suggestions. I called Linksys tech support. That call turned out to be the longest 2 hours of my life. I downloaded the most recent drivers for the adapter and for my USB. Nothing seemed to help. The last straw was when the adapter lost my control panel. Don't ask me how, but it did. I disconnected the adaptor for the last time and did a system restore. I wired my network then returned this little headache. Problem solved. By the way, all the paperwork recommends this device for Windows Vista.

[+] 6.0 Lots of trouble for me
On a 3Ghz standard Windows XP machine the tech support could not get the adapter to work....

I would connect to my wireless net for under 1 min and then the packet transmit/receive count would no longer update but it would still display that I had excellent signal strength and quality.... The same results happened when connecting to another network within range. (also they had me uninstall their wireless network management software and use the built in XP Wireless-Zero instead.... their software was eating up to 51% of the CPU)

After hours of working with them they suggest I update the driver....
After updating the driver I now can connect to a nearby Wireless G net and stay connected but still no luck with the wireless N.

What I want to know is why didn't they tell me to update the driver in the first place.

I now plan to go and return the WRT300N and get one of the WRT54G series routers.

1/30/2007 - I installed the WRT54GL V1.1 and right out of the box it works perfectly..... I now have my XBox and my PC working flawlessly.

This adapter really works. Easy to install. Just stick in the installation CD then follow the instruction on screen. No hassle to crack open your PC. In 15 minutes you're browsing the internet with high speed. Why don't I get it long time ago.
Did I mention it is wall mountable too. Neat.

[+] 10.0 Excellent wireless adapter for wireless-n networks
I got this with my new linksys wireless-n router and this little thing works great. In a part of the house where I barely got a signal from my old dlink w-g router I know get a 70-80% strong signal with speeds between 250-350mbps!

I highly recommend this adapter to anyone. That stand, although it comes with the adapter, is not needed. The retail comes with an extra ~1ft long usb extension cord.

Remember: All Linksys wireless-n adapters and routers are backwards compatible to w-b/g.

I hope this helped anyone. The price may seem high but for the speed and reliability you get, you'd wonder why you didn't hear/get it sooner.
