[+] 10.0 Best of Four
I've now purhased, all from Amazon, a total of 4 headsets, each of a different type, one of which was quite expensive [200$]: a blue tooth model, a folding usb model, a wireless usb model- and the Logitech model featured on this page.

I use a headset exclusively with a computer. Mostly Skype, but also occasional dictation, very occasional entertainment.

The BT: each time I restarted the computer, one needs locate the device again, then go to skype audio and re-assign the bluetooth feature. Not difficult, but an added chore when all one wants to do is make a quick skype phone call.

The folding model: good enough but delicate; of what use is portability if the thing breaks when carried?

The expensive model was wireless [USB]. Worked well enough, allowing one to walk quite a distance with the comfortable headset attached. This is quite liberating. However, the volume, even maxed out, was almost NEVER adequate: one must keep hand pressed to headset for the duration of the call [my hearing is not the same as a teenager's, but is still adequate].

Suffice to say that of all the headsets, and not inconsiderable expense- the Logitech on this page surpassed them all:
sturdy
immediate connection, true plug and play every time
great sound
reliable.

I use this for my base headset and portable model as well: just toss it in the brief. It's a solid build. Dictation: great sound quality. It has an 8' wire, so one can move about at least somewhat.

Soon I am traveling to a remote location, so I am now ordering a second one of these. Will carry two of these Logitech models [one for backup], rather than any of the other types. I rely on Skype for long distance phone calls, and with this USB model, at least I am sure I will have a headset that always works, and works well.

[+] 8.0 Great for Rosetta Stone
I purchased this headset to use specifically with Rosetta Stone and it works perfectly. They are comfortable enough to wear for hours at a time ,and they do a great job of blocking out the noise around you as well.

Although I have not used it with Skype or anything like that, I can definitely recommend it for Rosetta Stone.

[+] 10.0 Great Headset
This headset simply works, and it works well. I have mainly used this for Skype, and it sounds just as good as being on the phone with someone. The headset is comfortable, and setup is easy.

[+] 8.0 Great sound!
I found this headset to be very comfortable, easy to use and solidly constructed. I was replacing a headset I was using that was provided with Rosetta Stone. This headset couldn't have been any easier to use or more comfortable.

[+] 4.0 Works great until it breaks
I am a big fan of Logitech, but not of their headphones. I purchased one and it broke within 2 months (the ear piece fell apart). For headphones, I recommend getting something from Plantronics.

[+] 8.0 Clear but not Comfort
My overriding impression is how painful it is to wear this headset. It is simply too tight on the ears and no adjustment helps.

Having said that, the quality of construction seems to be quite good and the sound quality is also quite good.

[+] 8.0 Good Skype / Linux Headset
These headsets work well with Skype under Fedora 12 / Kernel 2.6.31.12-174.2.3.
They were recognised by the system and configured easily through Gnome Sound preferences however for some reason after a few weeks the headphone volume dropped off dramatically. This was correct by resetting the volume through alsamixer.

The headsets are adjustable, sound quality is good, and fit well but found that they are a little tight and become uncomfortable after a while (maybe my head is wider than normal). For that reason only I give them 4-stars. If you slide them forward on the ears it helps the comfort.

I chose these over a wireless set because I didn't want to wear something transmitting at 2+ GHz on my head for prolonged periods of time...

[+] 2.0 So uncomfortable!
I have owned many Logitech headsets and find this one very uncomfortable. On top of that, the microphone is on the left, which makes it awkward.

[+] 2.0 I have owned 2, both broke in the same way.
The sound quality and microphone work fine, but the device has a design flaw that makes it vulnerable to breaking down and becoming useless. The in-line volume control, in both of the headsets of this model that I have owned, has broken in a way that makes my system volume continuously decrease as long as they are plugged in. I owned my previous pair for about 6 months before it broke and figured that it was just a fluke, and then the new pair I bought broke down about a year after that. I did not hit either pair with a hammer or anything. They are just poorly made.

[+] 10.0 Good quality for the price
I bought this headphone/microphone combo for use with my home VoIP setup. I've used it for hours at a time without it hurting my head or ears.

Pros:
+ The sound quality is good - definitely superior to the cheap cordless phones I had been using
+ The ear pieces are well-padded and swivel to avoid putting excessive pressure on one part of the ear
+ The band that rests on top of your head is padded as well
+ The mic arm seems sturdy unlike some others that I was afraid of breaking

Cons:

My only real complaint is that the ear pieces sit on my ears instead of surrounding them. I find the around-ear models to be more comfortable. But that's probably too much to expect for the price of this unit.

Other notes:

This is a USB device. It doesn't work through your existing speakers or sound card. Rather, it is treated as a separate sound device. I like this because I can adjust volume and other settings of the headset independent of my sound card (the right volume for talking on the headset isn't necessarily the right volume for listening to music, for example).

This isn't a high-end piece of audio equipment. But for every day personal use I think it's a good buy and I would recommend it to others.

[+] 2.0 DOES NOT WORK WITH MAC!!!
Macs beware, do not buy! Learn from my mistake. I tried it on both my g5 tower and my macbook. Does not function. I am a knowledgeable mac user and tried tweaking the sound inputs, outputs, multiple usb ports, even the midi setup. To no avail. I searched online and there are mac users everywhere frustrated with this device. Logitech cannot be trusted for devices of complexity such as a usb mic/headset. I should have heeded the warnings on these feedback pages but didnt. Am returning to amazon today.

[+] 8.0 Pretty good sound quality, a few nits
Bought this set when the mic on my much-more-expensive headset crapped out. Overall, the sound quality is very good for Skype, the main reason I bought it.

A few items of note:
* It seems to pop out of mute mode for reasons I can't determine. I've ended up muting in Skype instead of on the headset because I'm finding I can't trust it, which is much less convenient.
* Clamshell packaging. Argh.
* Volume up/down buttons seem to control the speaker volume and not the headset volume.
* The mic cannot be moved to the right side. It only comes down from the left side.

The software weirdness was on Vista, so YMMV.

[+] 10.0 So far so good
These headphones are very easy to use and have excellent sound quality for their price. Just plugged them in and was off. They could use a little better padding to block outside sounds but in my case i did not want that so they are perfect for me. Use them with skype, online gaming, and some other stuff and so far they haven't let me down.

[+] 8.0 Very pleased with this headset
I purchased this headset after being displeased with several different plug-in headsets. The sound quality is very good, the microphone is close enough for accurate pickup of the voice without a lot of background noise, yet back far enough to not be in the way. I also love the volume control and mute switch on the cord, although I would like if the clip could rotate so I can change the angle of the cords.

For the testing you hear your voice in playback. Will be using it for the class. Let's see what happens for the next Live Classroom - synchronous online class session for NYU Translation for International Organizations class. This headset also works for listening to music. Maybe it might work for MSN Windows Live Messenger too.

[+] 2.0 Worked Well. For a week.
I bought five of these for my classroom courtesy of a grant. My students used the headsets for about a week before two mysteriously stopped functioning. When I plug in the USB no light comes on the stupid volume adjustor. The thing doesn't register on my Macs. No clue what to do. Others have written about bad USB connectors? I have used equipment in my senior elective for the past five years and nothing has ever broken. Now I have some headsets for two weeks and they crap the bed? What gives?

[+] 10.0 Broken, as usual
I won't blame this product specifically but, like all of these plastic headphone/mic combo's, it broke after a couple months but to be honest I was not the most gentle of owners. A piece of advice to potential buyers: look for a higher quality (higher priced) headset. These will break and you will end up buying another pair in 6 months. So buy a good pair and have them last you a good long time.

[+] 8.0 Good quality headset
Does what I want it to do, good overall quality, but the sound is lacking a little when I listen to music. Works great for video calls.

[+] 8.0 Watch the videos
I bought these because of watching the customer video review by Avin Kline. He made a video using this headset and it does tell the story about sound quality firsthand. I was not dissapointed. This summer I had the windows opened and could hear cars driving by while I was using the headset to record audio. I could not hear cars in the background on playback, but, my voice came across with good clarity.

Other reviewers have stated that the headphones are uncomfortable if worn for a long time. I have found this true with most headsets I have worn. If you need to wear a headset for hours on end this could be an issue.

This headset can be used in conjunction with a webcam to make videos for YouTube. They can be used for Skype calls.

All told I think they are a good value and deliver much higher quality recording than other headsets.

[+] 4.0 Quality that doesnt last...
Ive always been a fan of logitech headsets and this one had a decent rating, so I picked it up as a gaming headset. It worked perfectly for about 2 months before the headphones abruptly stopped working, and another week before the whole thing was pronounced dead. Now because I liked that this mic was comfortable to wear for several hours, and did have nice sound quality while it lasted, I decided to pick up a second one hoping that I had just gotten a faulty product before. Unfortunately I was proven wrong. I got my second logitech clearchat usb headset (same model) and the exact same thing happened.

So just a warning to everyone that it looks and sounds nice but if you are expecting to use it a lot, you might want to consider looking past this one.

[+] 4.0 Very uncomfortable on the ears
Despite some of the bad reviews here, I went ahead and bought this USB headset. The USB technolgy is great, but after a while I get sweaty around the ears and its very uncomfortable. They must replace the cushion with a more comfortable material. Until then, I would not recommend this product.

[+] 6.0 Alright, but there's better choices
As far as headsets go, this one is decent on the comfort scale but after several hours of use you begin to feel that familiar ache from it pressing against your ears. (Even if you loosen it)

It has good sound quality and a sensetive mic (especially for background noises unfortunately) however the physical quality of the parts and whatnot is subpar. I've had 3 of these headsets and the first 2 broke within a couple months. The first one had USB connector problems. The problem being that the part that actually goes into the USB port just slid off clean as a bell, the little metal tines bent and broke when I carefully attempted to re-attach the square bit. The second one had wire problems and shorted out the volume button and the right earphone, mic and left sound still worked but it was either VERY loud or VERY quiet, it was random and I had no control over volume except for application wise. The wires finally just came off the connection due to poor soldering. I guess machines can't always be perfect. the 3rd one I just gave to a family member so I could purchase a better headset.

All in all not a bad purchase if they're on sale or if you get it as a gift, but I would opt for something else given the choice.

[+] 4.0 Ear piece fell off, mediocre sound, threw out
I purchased these for Skype and they had okay sound quality, were not particularly comfortable and seemed a bit cheap. Then somehow one of the ear pieces fell off and I tried to deal with it for a while before giving up, tossing them and purchasing the Koss SB-45 which are much more comfortable, better sound quality (regardless of the fact they are headphone/microphone jack instead of USB) and you can put the microphone right in front of your mouth which is helpful for those listening on the other end.

[+] 8.0 Good Headphones
I primarily use this with World of Warcraft on Ventrilo. No problems with the headphones. Good quality. Sometimes they do tend to hurt after a couple hours of use, but not bad for the price point.

[+] 10.0 Using this on an iMac with Ventrillo (WoW).
I use this headset on an iMac to communicate via Ventrillo as I play World of Warcraft.

Bottom line is that it works like a charm!

I can hear everything clearly, and everyone can hear me perfectly. I never told the people on the other side listening to me that I was on a headset, yet all my teammates immediately remarked that I sounded really good. I did a quick A B test with the headset and the built in iMac microphone. Hands down they said the headset was MUCH better.

So no more keybinding to open the mic as I talk. That means more focus on the game!

For those wondering, this does work on the keyboard usb port.

Hopefully, all my teammates will buy one of these so that I can hear them better too!

[+] 8.0 Great headset for the price
I use this headset to play video games, and I have been very pleased with the performance.
From a technical perspective, they could not be easier to use. I plugged them in, they were detected by the OS, and sound came through them. I also use the mic, and it works great.
My only complaint would be that they can cause some discomfort if worn for a long time.
Even with that issue, I would recommend them to anyone who plays a lot of games.

[+] 2.0 Uncomfortable and dysfunctional
When I got a new telephone answering system, it turned out that I also needed to record auto-attendant messages. Well, Logitech is a brand I have liked and this looked like just the thing: USB plug and play, and it says "comfort" right in the name.
Ugh.
I tried to install this thing 4 separate times onto my PC running Vista. The headphones installed right away, and after finding and setting the "default playback device" on the control panel, the sound actually was pretty good. And this is the last nice thing I'm going to say about these phones.
The mic would never work. So, being a well trained net-guy, I did a google search, a logitech search, and I played with every setting on my audio panels, then pounded on the mute button a couple of times, and installed it on 3 different USB ports. The computer recognized the microphone, but would not record from it or recognize input from it.
Finally, after hours, I gave up. By that time the phones were killing my ears from their (not very soft) plastic pads.
It went back today to be replaced by a good old fashioned 2-jack mic/headphone set from Plantronics.
I don't know if it was a dead mic or fouled up drivers, but this thing already sucked up too much of my life to warrant another try, and they weren't comfortable enough anyhow.
Goodbye and good riddance. Who needs more headaches (literally), life is full of them anyhow.

[+] 10.0 Great value for a Mac-compatible headset or just microphone
Nice product for Mac users, who do not have the option of line-in microphones for Skype, etc. and for whom many bluetooth headsets which work fine on PC's do not work for microphone input.

Just plug it in, go to System Preferences > Sound and select the headset for the input and output devices.

Worked perfectly with Skype, and the sound quality of the microphone recording an audio track in Garage Band was totally fine - more than adequate for doing voice-overs of movies, etc. Headphone audio quality fine.

The cord really is 8' long. Great for desktop users, although Mac desktop users can also use the USB ports on their keyboard as this does not require a powered port. Nice, regardless, as you don't feel like you're on a short leash to your computer.

[+] 4.0 comfortable but toooo sensitve
I like this product... i got it because i just switched to mac and it was the only usb headset that specifically said it would work with a mac... my MAJOR problem with it is when im on skype or other voice software the people im talking to say that it is way to sensitive. If I am listening to music or watching tv (which i frequently do while im on the computer) they hear the music or other background noise at the same volume or at times at a higher volume then my voice... even when I had my tv at a lower volume my voice chat partner quoted a commercial back to me.
If you are going to be using it in a quiet room its great... if u like to multi-task as I do... I wouldnt reccomend it

[+] 2.0 MAC users - don't buy it!
I previously owned (and still own) Logitech Premium Stereo Headset, but when I switched to Mac the analogue headset's mic wouldn't work on it anymore so I could only use the headphones for listening and the internal mic on the Mac for talking. As a result, I decided I'd rather buy a new, this time a USB headset, so that I could as well make use of the mic on it.

So I went on the quest for a headset for my early 2008 MacBook Pro (Leopard 10.5.6) and finally decided I'd give Logitech ClearChat Comfort a try. The price was decent and the review average seemed fine as well. (By the way, I did not purchase it from Amazon, but I thought I'd still share my story here so that someone else might get something out of it. Most of the times when I'm buying electronic products etc. I first check Amazon reviews to get an idea about it.)

However, I wasn't satisfied with it, so I had to return it. The thing is that as soon as I plugged it in, the Input Level bars (in System Preferences - Sound) on my Mac would automatically go up to almost the half of the Input Level indicator!!! During the chat on Skype the person on the other side complained because of the noise my mic had created, and this noise was apparently exactly what the Input Level bars started indicating right after I plugged the headset in. What caused that noise? I have no idea.

Also, the sound over Skype didn't seem as clear as on my older (Logitech Premium Stereo Headset) - the person's voice on the other side seemed a bit unclear and distorted as opposed to clean, crispy sound of my older headset.

Perhaps I should mention that I as well tried yet another headset, this time a USB one, Logitech Premium Stereo USB Headset 250, and it worked like a charm!

It really puzzles me why the latter works perfectly, while ClearChat Comfort one receives some sort of interference and thus produces noise, yet both of them are USB headsets.

Unfortunately, ClearChat Comfort didn't work for me and thus I wouldn't recommend it for Mac users. Just yesterday, though, a new update (10.5.7) came out for Mac OS. Could it possibly have worked well on the updated version? I didn't have a chance to test it, but to be honest - I doubt it.

Let me just add another thing about comfort. Perhaps someone might find it useful: since we own(ed) 3 different Logitech headsets in our household, I can provide a slight assessment of their comfort from 1 to 3, no. 1 being the most comfortable and no. 3 the least comfortable.

2. Logitech ClearChat Comfort USB Headset

We bought a pair of Logitech ClearChat Comfort USB Headsets for a series of webinars my company is presenting. The headsets provide audio that is consistently clean and clear. Several people have commented on how good they sound.

The headsets were truly plug and play, not installs required. I especially like the simple mute button. I have recomended the ClearChat Comfort USB Headsets to co-workers.

I bought these hoping they would work with my laptop whose headphone jack had given up the ghost. [+] 4.0 busted after nominal use (2 months)
Headsets are priced right, which sold me initially. Not very comfortable but I am only using them for 10-20 minutes at a time. After 2 months the volume control on the cable would increase the volume and cause a "clicking" sounds as the computer was saying"enough, it's on full volume". Can't seem to unstick it so it, so that annoying sound is constant. Need to see if I can return, but for now worthless.
