Logitech QuickCam Pro 9000

I originaly had purchased another web cam and could not get it to work on my new computer which has windows vista. I purchased the Logitech 9000 and was skeptical that it would work. It is wonderful just put the softwear in and plug the cam in and your ready to use it. Everyone that I chat with commented on the clarity of the picture and the good sound that it has. I would recomend this web cam to anyone with vista, it is fantastic.

Easy to Install. I like the software.monitored easy to view I was reported excellent quality video,,,mike works very good too.every adjustment at hand all the time ...zoom auto or manual very convinient. I recommend this webcamera...money worth.we used skype. no complaints at all.

The Logitech quickcam Pro9000 is amazing. The sound clarity, and video quality are stunning. We chat with folks back home in India and there is no time-lag. I have seen previous versions of Logitech cams and Microsoft products. This Pro 9000 stands out. I paid $[...] for it from Amazon but now they are offering a $[...] rebate if purchased between 11/25 and 12/1/2008.
At $[...] this is a steal. The Carl Zeiss optics makes a difference. The software has cool features like face recognition, tilt-n-zoom where you do not need to touch the cam to tilt or zoom. Overall, FIVE STAR product.

Will work for both laptop screens and desktop ones.

The picture quality is great, and it works well with Skype (the driving force behind the purchase). The mechanism for holding the camera on the laptop is genius and seems that it would work with any laptop and probably most LCD monitors as well. The bundled software is junk, I didn't even bother.

I use my web cam a lot for both business calls and connecting with family abroad and own several web cams. I originally didn't want to spend to much money on a camera, but after finally deciding to upgrade to the Pro 9000 I couldn't be happier.

The picture quality is great, fully integrates with Skype and since most of my international calls happen during the evening I needed something that could work in reduced light conditions. This does the job.

Auto focus is also great and despite my original skepticism about the "arm" I am pleased to say its really sturdy and fits securely on my laptop, extra monitors or even standing on the table.

I liked the look of this webcam, it's features as far as special effects but the image would not focus unless it was about two inches in front of the lens. Contacted logitech and they told me to do the same things I had already tired with no luck. I had read a few good reviews so I thought this would be a good camera but was very dissapointed. I then did a search and found many reviews of poor focus with this webcam.. Amazon has a great return policy inwhich I used and the bought a microsoft webcam that I am very happy with, my son and I play Tiger 09 Wii online and video chat with this webcam and have a great time. I thought logitech was better than this, I will do more online reviewing next time before I make my next purchase.

After researching the available web cams, I chose this one. As a novice user I was pleasantly surprised at it's ease of use. I have enjoyed the experience so much I purchased one for each of my children to join in the fun. I highly recommend this product.

We bought this on the advice of our son and daugher-in-law, who recently moved across the country. We use it to "see" them and our year-old grandson on regular basis. They report that the picture and sound are excellent. What a difference it has made for us!

We purchased the Logitech QuickCam Pro 9000 to use to see our grandchildren - We are very happy with this Webcam - our daughter had purchased the same one and we know that she researched her choice of cameras and found this to be the best one out there right now - we have nice clear video and clear audio - We would recommend this to others.

optical quality was amazing.
Made me wonder why I paid a few hundred dollars for a movie camera... oh yeah: portability and zoom lens. But if you like making movies of yourself, for example to answer questions clients ask, I can't imagine an easier set up. Presently, my webinar program limits the resolution to 320 by 240, however.

This product has a great picture but it is very high in the CPU usage. On Skype the picture is very slow. The product literature says that you need the duel processor to get full usage.

Worked with Skype the moment I plugged it into the USB port. That's under Linux (Ubuntu 8.10 Intrepid Ibex), mind you -- apparently the uvcvideo driver it requires was part of the standard install as this is my first ever webcam. Now getting the HD resolutions and frame rates is more of an exercise (google for CaptureWidth/CaptureHeight and uvcdynctrl). I am currently seeing 960x720 with very decent optical quality and backlight processing but the frame rates are somewhat lagging. This may well be an issue with Skype itself or with the driver though. Overall the hardware shines but it would be nice to have a graphical utility for quick control tweaks. I won't be holding my breath for one :)

I love this webcam. Got it to use with Skype and the quality is exceptional. I did choose to turn off the RightLight option as it showed movement better without it. I tried some fingerspelling and signing and the other person could understand me perfectly. I'm not sure why some people here had problems with Skype -- perhaps it was an old version of Skype as the current version sure works well for me. I also chose to use my own microphone, and the QuickCam software recognized it automatically and used that instead of its own builtin mike. I tried it without the external mike and that worked fine too, I just like the external mike better. This is a wonderful buy!

This little guy is physically built sturdy. What I mean by that is, it has heft to it. It is not flimsy. It sits on top of my Dell Flat Panel monitor just fine.

I know some are worried about motion being blurry, and it can be, I'll be honest. But so can any video in the right lighting. It is only a 2 megapixel camera, lighting is a must. The Right Light thing works, but the frame rate slows when it is in use, making motion more blurry. Just turn on another light--in front of you, and I think you'll be fine.

Others have had trouble getting it to work with Skype. I am using this camera on a Vista machine and at first Skype just displayed a screen that was blue, NOT the Blue Screen of Death, but no image, nonetheless. You need to go in to the settings tab in Skype and choose Default Video Device, and it should pick it up--do not choose the name of the camera, it doesn't work that way some how.

Overall, I'm pleased. Try to find the right price though, I paid $74 here on Amazon in Nov. '08 and got free super saver shipping. It arrived in about two business days, not counting Veteran's Day. Amazon has been very fast at shipping to the DC area recently.

it is an excellet web camera, good picture resolution with clear details. i advice everyone looking for a good web camera regardless its price to buy this camera.

Our new web camera is bringing our adopted grand-daughter to us every week. We see her in action.(One year old and beginning to walk,she moves about, babbles and plays for our enjoyment.) We can see and hear her it all! Since she lives in LA we cannot visit very often. This product is making all the difference in our communication. The picture and sound are wonderful. Even though we are not computer savvy we were able to install the device and access Skype with a little help from our son-in-law. The pleasure it is affording us can't be exaggerated! All grand-parents who live at a distance from their children should have one!

Easy to install. Just make sure you have a open USB port, or if not, get a USB hub. Absolutely excellent picture quality. Adjusts very well for the room light level. Very sharp picture due to the superior lens. A terrific value for the money.

This product is user -friendly, ready to go out of the box. It comes with instructional software and takes up no desk space as it is designed to sit atop your PC. The images are clear and can be increased to full screen. I had an older version(QuickCam 4000) The "eyeball" was OK but imaging was very herky-jerky. This new version has more real time imaging (with just a bit of lag)and fun applications(avatars), which my 10 y.o. granddaughter is trying to teach me to use via long distance. I enjoy talking to and being able to see my grands and family, who recently relocated to North Carolina from Conn. I did not give it 5 stars because at times the image does freeze, but the audio continues, but it does straighten out quickly. I don't know if that is due to distance or interference. I do use it with Skype which is a very good free program & quite easy to use. I would check around for prices as I did find the best price($65) among the dealers on Amazon.

Takes a little time to get used to the settings, as they differ based on the IM program you might be using. I initially started with AIM, then went to Skype. The quality was slow and pixel-like since it was configured for AIM. Once I switched it over to Skype, everything worked nicely.

I purchased this camera in hopes of finding a quality product which works well with most platforms. My initial test of it was with a friend who has an older camera (do not know brand, but it was a PC compatible unit). The video quality was excellent and she could hear me speak but since she did not have a microphone, I could not hear her. My second test was with my eldest daughter, who has a Mac with a camera built right in. The video quality I saw was not great, but it was good enough so I could see her 600 miles away and I hadn't seen her in months. Both tests on my end were done over a satellite connection on my end. So,it appears a lot depends on the quality of both cameras. I will post more once I have more comparison information.

I have used my Logitech QuickCam 9000 on a number of occasions and I have been pleased every time. The camera is excellent and transits a clear picture and the microphone works well too. The unit is easy to install and to use and the price is in the moderate range. I would recommend it to any but the true professional user.

Having used other webcams in the past with mixed success, I was intrigued by all of the positive press that the QCPro 9000 was getting. I set up one camera on my desktop, and another with my dad 2500 miles away, both of us using Skype. The image quality was outstanding. The right light feature worked wonders. When trying to call another friend with a built-in webcam on their laptop, the results were even more apparent, as they were more pixelated and jerky. This may parially be due to the lower resolution of their built in webcam, but it was enough to make me glad that I purchased a pair of these to keep in touch with my folks. Highly recommended if you are looking for a webcam.

My only complaint is that the clamp thingy doesn't really attach to the monitor, it basically justs rests on top, giving counterbalance to the camera piece. So make sure that you are not moving your monitor a lot.

I have owned 4 webcams and the Logitech Pro 9000 is the best by a large margin. I like the way it follows you so you don't have to sit rigid in a chair. Its low light ability is fantastic which means you don't look like a creature from a horror movie because most of your room lights are located behind you. A superb instrument and easy to install.

The camera is easy to install and use. It does a nice job with lighting and the image quality is excellent. Was very happy with this product.

This is my 2nd webcam from Logitech and I have to say that I am very satisfy. The picture is so clear and got a lot of fun stuff you can play with. I would definitely recommend this product to my friends/family.

Great little cam. Really good picture quality, and doesn't use too many resources even at high resolutions. Easy to install and use the software, and the extras (the images filters, masks, etc.) make using it fun, with both children and the young at heart. We've purchased over a dozen of these now for work to have meetings with remote staff, and they work great. The only thing I would improve would be the stand. It's a little hard to get the cam to balance on top of some monitors, and there's no way to tilt the cam without holding it in your hand (there's no tilt swivel on the stand). Otherwise, it's great.

This webcam is well worth every penny! It has many upscale features you will not find on lesser models. Starting with a superb quality lens system. DSL speed permitting, you can stream up to HD quality video, with many lesser resolution choices available. The excellent software gives you amazing controls such as zooming in or out, panning left to right, up and down. there is a choice of auto-focus or manual, even the lighting can be set on auto or tweaked in all kinds of ways. A neat feature, is a setting that with enable the camera to follow your head automatically if you like to move around for any reason. Its built-in microphone is of very good quality, and the set up and USB plug in couldn't be easier. Using free and safe skype, I have been video conferencing with my cousin in Paris France right from my house in California, amazing!. The webcam came within days. Easy to install and use. It is almost like watching TV. I showed it to my boss and we now have 2 that we use for videoconferencing. The $30 camera's do not compare to the quality.

This is a great webcam, and after purchasing with a rebate, totally worth the extra $$, as compared to less expensive options.

The image quality is amazing, and when used in Skype with family in Montreal (we're in California), you can see a noticable difference between our brightness/contrast/color, and theirs... and this is with out light being behind us.

My one gripe is the way it mounts: Our home computer is a Dell lappy, and you have to be careful where you place it (and fiddle to get it to where you want it to be) on top of the screen because of little lumps, bumps, etc. that just aren't there on a desktop monitor. A minor issue, really, if you don't take your lappy out of the house, much, but I felt it would be important for some people to know this (it really doesn't affect us).

we ended up just using the skype software and that works fine, but the software from logitech is POOR. good thing is, that's the only con. It's great otherwise.

The novelty of the camera wears off pretty quick if you're using it to keep up with loved ones, but it's still handy when it's been a while since you've seen someone.

Had a top level cam by Creative and the contrast was horrible and it kept changing. the 9000 has been much better at creating a good quality picture.

I bought this product to have a cam on my laptop. It was very easy to install. I played around with it a bit, checking the program and such. I love it. The clearness is wonderful.

It took me a while to purchase the camera. What a mistake!!! All my family and particularly my grand children live out of town. Now I see them as often as I want and they see me. It is wonderful. Great camera, easy installation and affordable. Watch out telephone companies!! This is the future.

I am happy with this product. The clarity is beyond my expectations. I will mention that the positioning of the webcam on top of my monitor was not too good as it slipped off a few times. I know that there are many different monitors out there and each one may have its own installation quirks. Not a serious problem. Maybe a piece of duct tape would help hold it from slipping off. Picture comes through very well.

I have to admit I was pleasantly surprised. My happiness is probably as much to do with the technology as the product - however the product is very good. There are times you will see delays, but given all the complexities and connections of users it is easy to understand. Lighting can sometimes play a role in the quality of the picture but there are numerous adjustments one can make to correct. But honestly the default is pretty good. The set-up is not terribly complicated, but a novice will require a little more time to do it.

I bought two of these and gave one to my GF in another state. We have used it successfully and it works well enough where I will buy another one to send to my dad. That will tell me how well a novice can set it up from 1,200 miles away.

This is a great camera highly versatile and works great with Skype. If you have at least 500Kbs upload and 1.5 Mps download bandwidth you can get almost 30 FPS at 640 X 480 resolution.Use the most current software from the web site for best results, the software included on the disk does not allow for best performance from the camera.

This webcam has great quality in both video and sound. The mic is sensitive enough to pick up voices from far away but also block out background noises if you are close. I also comes with software that can do all the little extra things to the video a Mac can do. My only warning is that this isn't a laptop webcam. It doesn't have a clip to attach it to the screen and the size is kind of bulky.

I already had this webcam but decided to buy another one because I gave the other one to a friend so I already knew how great the quality was... However shipping was fast! Came in 2-3 days after purchase and great packaging with a customer thank you card! I will look out for Deal Barn when ordering again !

Great picture in dim lighting. I like having a video and microphone in one piece of hardware. The clip is also very well designed. Sits easily on a flat monitor, laptop or desk. I was up and running in a few minutes.

The video quality is as good as I had hoped it would be. This model also comes with extras that are free and downloadable.

The camera is very easy to install. The camera captures clear video that is easily sent within an email to family members and friends. To use this camera to chat in ASL using real-time video you must have a high speed internet connection and your upload speed needs to be fast enough for the video to run smoothly.

Excellent product - easy setup. My study has a lot of windows with varying light conditions and the camera copes with it beautifully. Highly recommended.

I purchased two of these cams a month ago for our family to keep in touch while apart and we use them on a daily basis. The webcam is easy and fun to use. Instalation was quick and painless and calls are clear and the camera has great tracking. It works great in low light as well as bright light and is adjustable while in the middle of a call. My husbands computer has Vista and mine has XP and there hasn't been any problems for either of us. The kids LOVE the camera! And the Avatars and extra "fun things" have given us quite a few laughs. I feel that I got what I paid for. I am extremely happy with my purchase of two of these and would highly recomend this webcam to anyone looking for a quality webcam that is easy and fun to use.

Product performs correctly and clearly, only one drawback the clip or holder for top of laptop is difficult to utilize.

Our family purchased several of these because we had a new grandchild that lives out of town and this is our way of keeping in visual touch with her. It works great and we are very pleased with the product.
