I use my GPS every day in my job as an insurance inspector. I expected houses built in 2007 and 2008 to be present in this update, and they weren't. I like my 4250 GPS a lot, but I'll have to replace it now, because there are no more updates available.

The Company that sold tis to me stinks!!!! I have never written a review like this before
It would not load on my magellan and they said too bad. No money back and its your problem. It came with caveman instructions and it wouldn't load also it was last year's update. Magellan is trying to help me but these guys stink. If you use them and try to save a dime you will regret it. I do !!!

magellan maestro
I have had my Magellan Maestro for 2 years and it was time for a upgrade. A few days after purchase it arrived and 3-4 minutes later the upgrade was installed. The first few start ups after that seemed to take a bit longer, Maestro units seem to take a while to find themselves then are fairly flawless. After those first few times the unit now boots normally but seems a bit quicker in routing and more accurate maps. I don't use the GPS as a phone, photo album, movie viewer...just GPS so I can't comment on how it may effect other operations.

Is this an update?
So far nothing has improved, the roadside attractions are no different. We couldn't find REI in Portland before and we can't now. I am feeling I spent my money for no reason. We had such high hopes.

Better, but not as up-to-date as I expected
This was a map update. I expected that the maps would include road changes finished in my hometown two years ago (begun three years ago). Install was a bit rocky, but it worked after a second try. It boots slower, but runs okay once booted.
If I had it to do over, I'd buy a new GPS unit instead.
I can only review the first 2 parts. THe installation was pretty easy but you must update your GPS software before doing the map update. One MAJOR point is that the instructions say you know the update has been successful when it ask you to enter your region.
THis never happened for me. I had to take the map card out reboot and find the map information section to see the #'s for the maps originally were on the unit. Turn it off install the new card and turn it on and reset using the reset button then check the map information to see that the #'s did change.
Other then that it was easy enough. I am pretty good with techy stuff so i was only slightly annoyed but some of the older generation might have to call the tech support to figure this out.
Even though I purchased my Magellan from Amazon and then purchsed the Map Update Card from Amazon, I receive an "Incompatible" message when I insert the card. Returned for refund.

Very Current Mapping - at least for San Antonio area
We live in San Antonio, TX and the last update available (2008) did not include many of the new roads and highway ramps recently completed in the area (especially the highway ramps connecting 281 and 410, and much of the new construction in the north end of town). This update has those ramps and a large majority of the new construction recently completed.
I wish there was a way to "sample" a map update prior to purchase (i.e.: being able to enter a location and verifying it's accuracy), to ensure you don't waste $$$ purchasing an update that really doesn't help (like the 2008 update for me). Thus 3 stars for "improved performance". At the time of the 2008 update, Google maps had many of the new roads/ramps, so I figured that update would to.
Search around on Google for better prices, as I paid a lot less than is currently advertised on Amazon. As info, I am using the Maestro 3250.

Disappointed with product
The GPS functioned better before installing the chip. Before installation the GPS would show whatever street I was on and now, more often than not, it shows where I am but with no street; before it showed the street and now the street doesn't exist.
Nice and easy to use and get going with. Just wish it was free lol
Easy, quick plug-n-play upgrade!!! Very accurate - no problems ... buy it, use it, love it!!!

Shipped product packaging does not meet description
I bought this map update to give as a gift, expecting it to be in the original Magellan box as shown in the product page. However, what I received was just the SD card in a clear plastic package and a printed user guide thrown in to a small manilla padded envelope. Giving this as a christmas gift is much less elegant now.
Shame on you Amazon for false advertising.
In addition, the price of this map update seem to fluctuate on a daily basis.
