Product Specifications

With style to spare, the Motorola C343 delivers a vibrant color screen, ringer ID functions, a big address book, polyphonic ringtones, and much more. It's all wrapped up in a sleek, compact handset that makes it easy to stay in touch. It's also the perfect complement to Tracfone prepaid wireless service.

Design
The C343 follows the tried and true Motorola candybar style with an external antenna. The 96 x 64 color display supports 4,096 colors, and a standard hands-free headphone jack is also provided. There's also a USB port for data connectivity, while most of the phone's features and on-screen menus are controlled by a five-way center button on the handset's control pad. Changeable faceplates are available, too, so you can dress up your C343 to suit your style.

Calling Features
The C343's built-in address book can store up to 500 contacts for quick and easy management of phone numbers and other contact information. The phone also comes with built-in polyphonic ringtones (20 of them!), and there's even a built-in composer so you can fashion your own ringtones. And when you have your ringtones set to your liking, you can assign different ones to your contacts so you can know who's calling without having to look at the phone. A vibrate mode is available, too, for times when you want to keep things discreet. The phone ships with a number of handy Tracfone services, including free voice mail, free caller ID, and free call waiting. And perhaps most importantly, the integrated TracFone Airtime Balance Display shows you how much airtime you've used and how much is left, so you can control your costs.

Messaging and Tools
The C343 covers the messaging basics with support for sending and receiving messages that contain text and graphics. iTap text entry, which is a technology that makes it easier for people to enter words and text on handsets, is built into the unit-- a plus for mobile text messaging users.

A number of handy tools come with the C343 including a calculator with currency converter, a calendar, text messaging templates for quick messages, and a notepad.

Entertainment
In addition to offering customizable ringtones, wallpapers, and screensavers, the C343 ships with games to keep you entertained while you're on the go.

This phone is perfect for those with light, in town usage. It only uses one unit per minute, two if you're outside of your area code(roaming), and long distance doesn't cost any extra. The airtime doesn't cost a fortune, and you have no credit checks, or monthly bills. Reception is good because they utilize many different providers instead of just one. They also have a referral program, so you can earn 100 extra minutes for free if your friends and family buy one too(they also get 100 minutes). If you want a referral to get started with 100 free minutes, just e-mail me at amyb420@hotmail.com , I'd be happy to send ya the link!

[+] 10.0 Motorola C343...long battery life, loads of features, no monthly cellular bills, FREE BONUS MINUTES
I recently purchased the Tracfone, and am amazed with the quality of the phone and service.

Customer service was very friendly, helpful, and patient when I called them to help me activate my Tracfone.

The Motorola C343 Tracfone is a very durable, powerful, compact phone with a BATTERY LIFE of 190 hours standby time- before the phone even has to be recharged !!!

One push of the button on the phone, and I had my voice mail introductory message recorded and set up in 3 minutes.

This is a "national coverage cellphone", covering areas away from major cities. See Tracfone coverage map for your zip code.

After taking my Tracfone out of its packaging and activating with the assistance of customer service, I purchased one (1) year's worth of "Double Minute" service on the Tracfone website, which means that I got 300 minutes of talk time to use for an enire year... with the option to receive DOUBLE MINUTES of talk time in future purchases of talk time.

On top of the 300 minutes, I immediately got another 210 bonus minutes by imputing promotional codes (HINT:take advantage of BONUS coupons that come with the new phone, and other BONUSES)...

I received 8 1/2 hours of talk time by prepaying "Double Minute" YEARLY service-(I receive DOUBLE minutes if I purchase additional minutes)- that could be used anytime over a 14 month period immediately after activing my Tracfone, since my one (1) year's service I purchased in January 2006 was extended another 60 days simply by imputing promotional codes that I used to get free "Bonus Minutes". So my service period is good until March 2007, before I even have to purchase more minutes to keep my account active.

No need to pay those $35/$60 monthly bills that most people with cellular service pay, when you use the Tracfone "prepaid" plan.

After activating your Motorola C343 Tracfone, do what I did to get an additional 100 BONUS minutes of talktime...

Take advantage of Tracfone's "Refer-A-Friend" program to get 100 BONUS minutes that you can be awarded right after activating your new Tracfone...

Once you decide to purchase your Motorola C343 Tracfone or before your phone is activated for use, get a "friend" who owns a Tracfone to send you Tracfone's "referal" e-mail. SAVE that "referal" e-mail that awards you 100 BONUS minutes, that you and you referal friend will each receive when you send the "referal" e-mail back to Tracfone after you new phone is activated.

For a "referal" e-mail that will get you the 100 Bonus minutes ,before you activate your Tracfone, e-mail me at:

[+] 10.0 TracFone = Great Service + No Hidden Costs + 100 Free Minutes!
I wanted a phone but not be paying the high monthly fees that most plans require. With TracFone, you only pay for what you use. If you are using a cell phone constantly, then a monthly plan would likely be better, but if you want one for emergencies and the occasional grocery store "Hey, pick up some....", then this is the way to go. I purchased the online www.TracFone.com deal with a 300 double minute card with 1 year service that comes with a Motorola V60i. Price is $129. Every card you buy after that gives you double minutes. Activation was simple and done over the web.

If you want an extra FREE 100 minutes, send me an email at ajstudio@alaska.com. Just use 'TracFone Free Minutes' as your subject. And I'll send you the details back usually within a few hours. Enjoy your new TracFone!

Pros: It is a good prepaid service. The signal is better compared to my old T-mobile at Boston. Find someone to send you an invitation and you both get 100 free minutes. If you can't find a tracfone user around you, send me an email. And I will send you an invitation instantly. Note I can help you to get the free minutes even you have activated the phone recently.
Cons: You have to input 4 long codes to activate it. I would suggest you to activate it on web instead of calling the 800 number. Make sure you select correct home area when you activate the service. Otherwise it will cost 2 units per minutes.

[+] 8.0 TracFone Service Review w/ Caveats, Benefits and Drawbacks
I don't have this phone, my review is on TracFone as a cell phone provider. This will explain a few things about TracFone and how it works. I'm going to tell you about the caveats, benefits, drawbacks, and my view on the TracFone.

First of all, and something I feel is very important to note, is that TracFone uses two different types of networks; 1.)TDMA/CDMA, 2.)GSM. If you purchase a phone that uses a SIM Card, you'll be on GSM. If you purchase a phone without a SIM Card, you'll be on TDMA/CDMA. With GSM, you're changed as long as the call completes; which is to say a person or answering machine/service picks up. With TDMA/CDMA, you're charged after being on the phone 15 seconds, regardless of whether someone picks up or not. This means if you complete your call within 15 seconds, no charge. If you let the phone ring a few times (and it takes 15 seconds or longer) and get no response, your still charged even if there was no connection. I prefer TDMA/CDMA, but GSM is fair too.

Next, this service is inexpensive, so long as you use it correctly. First things first, get a year plan. It's $90 and you normally wind up with at least 190 minutes (150 minimum) after promotions. Plus, if you ask me for a referral, you'll get another 100 minutes and so will I (As long as you haven't activated the service yet), just email me at cmitroka@yahoo.com. And normally, new TracFones come with some time built in. So there's roughly 300 minutes for a year at $90, or about $7.50 a month. If you need more time, you can always add on more minutes; they will just add to how long you have service for. It unbelievable cheap and works great! Plus, voice mail setup is free (and you don't get charged for it unless you check from your TracFone), Caller ID/Waiting is free, and there's a slew of other stuff you don't get charged for. There is some charge on Text Messages, but I don't use them.

Now, some drawbacks. Although they're getting better, TracFone does not have a very large selection of phones to choose from. My original was a Nokia 5100 (No SIM card), and even though it was clucky, it worked great. My new phone is a Nokia 2600 (Which has a SIM card), and I don't like it. If you look at a picture of it, you'll notice the Navigation Pad and Select button are directly on top of each other. So, when you try to push the up navigation direction, there's a good chance you hit the Select button and wind up somewhere you don't want to be. If I had to do it again, I'd go with the Nokia 2126 for a few reasons. 1.) Modern Look, 2.) No SIM Card, 3.) Buttons look well laid out. 4.) Color Screen. I browsed reviews about the 2600 and no one mentioned this, but I think it's annoying. I'm guessing there's no internet browsing, and you probably wouldn't want to with a TracFone anyways. Ringtones are also probably limited, but I wouldn't know.

My view, this service is great and some phones are better than others, research them carefully. If you enjoy talking on the phone, don't go w/ TracFone. If you use you cell to call people when you need to and don't spend much time on it, this phone is perfect for you. Keep the phone/network in mind when selecting, go with a year plan, and use the voice mail from land lines. Stick by these rules, you'll have a phone plan your happy with and that will hardly impact your finances. If you need more then 1000 minutes a year, you may want to check out other services, but it'll cost you. Feel free to email me with any questions.

[+] 10.0 Great Phone - Great Rates - Save Money!!!
I recently have bought a Tracfone and found it to be a very pleasant experience. Registering the Phone online gives you 20 FREE minutes and it isn't hard to do. Minutes are very affordable.

There are a number of FREE services for Tracfone customers including free voice mail, free caller ID, and free call waiting.

Text messaging is very cheap on the Tracfone and your Tracfone will have an airtime balance display so you will always know how many minutes you have.

I would recommend this phone to anyone. If you are going to buy a Tracfone (or have bought a Tracfone in the past 30 days) than e-mail me at: s.saeugling@gmail.com and I will send you a "Tracfone Refer-A-Friend" e-mail and when you register the phone we will both get 100 FREE minutes. Also, before you buy please email me at uofmfan42000@yahoo.com - as new Tracfone customers are eligible for 100 free airtime units. It's a simple referral program, we both get 100 minutes. Thanks! If you have any questions about the service or phones, feel free to ask :) again, uofmfan42000@yahoo.com

[+] 2.0 THIS CELLPHONE SUCKS!!!!!!!!!11
this is the worst phone you can ever buy! DONT BUY IT!!! for god sake, people are only saying it is good because of the plan, I am not in the Us so i am not so lucky to have that plan, well here is what i think
when i bought this phone about ten months ago, i thought it was cool, it has the cool blue neonlight which gives that disco/techno look, but then i noticed that i choose the "starburst" ringtone and it did not stayed that way, well i did not care, it had a lot of other cool ringtones...i hate the phone book( multiple numbers= repeated names) colors? stinks! games? i started to use get it now! and the bill just flew as a rocket!...after a few months i noticed that the microfone did not worked properly, first i need to yell a little bit, then i had to yell a lot( everybody could listen to what i was talking about') and then ! the phone went dead!i could listen lo people but people could not listen tome! i called the customer support and they said i could repair it ..but hell no! i will get a new one..probably an lgvx6000 or a motorola v710....

CONCLUSION:

unless you have an excellent plan DONT buy this phone...

thanks for your time

[+] 2.0 Just hope that your phone never quits working
I had been very happy with my Motorola phone until the battery started losing its charge within a day, even when the phone was turned off. The friendly but incompetent customer support kept me on the phone for an average of 40 minutes for the repeated calls trying to figure out the problem. After the phone had finally been sent to their technical service center, they returned it to me that the phone was irreperable "due to customer abuse." I have done nothing to that phone that could have caused any damage (unless using it to make phone calls counts as "customer abuse"), but got the same comment, without explanation after I had sent the phone in for a second time for reevaluation. It seems that Motorola is just trying to get out of fixing or replacing the phone free of charge under warranty. You'll be fine with a Motorola phone as long as it works. After that, you're on your own.

[+] 8.0 good choice if you have light cell phone usage
It is a good prepaid service. The signal is better compared to my old T-mobile at Boston.

Pros: It is cheap to get the phone and 120 free minutes. Find someone to send you an invitation and you both get 100 free minutes. If you can't find a tracfone user around you, send me an email. And I will send you an invitation instantly. Note I can let you get the 100 free minutes even if you have already activated the service recently.

Cons: You have to input 4 long codes to activate it. I would suggest you to activate it on web instead of calling the 800 number.

The phone itself is easy to use, has a good backlight display and many features that I never use, but it is not as fancy as some of the newest models. Battery life is pretty good. Tracfone has a 'refer a friend' program which gives 100 free minutes to both of us. All that's required is that you contact me for a referral anytime before activating your new Tracfone.
