Product Specifications

The wildly popular V330 is a tough act to follow, but the latest kid on the block, the V360, is a worthy successor, packed with features that make it the perfect complement to T-Mobile service. The V360 is smaller and lighter than the V330, plus it features a memory card slot for storing and playing music via an included music player application. You'll also get an internal antenna on this model, as well as a larger external screen-- two nice touches. Like the V330, this model also has Bluetooth, tri-band GSM compatibility, high-speed EDGE data, and a VGA camera with video capture.

Take a closer look at the V360's functions.
Design
The V360 features a sleek clamshell design with a large, high-resolution 176 x 220 pixel, 262,000-color screen. The outside cover of the handset sports a supplementary 96 x 80 monochrome display that can display time, call information, battery and signal strength, and more. Up and down buttons for volume control are placed on the left side. Most of the phone's features and onscreen menus are controlled by a five-way center button on the handset's control pad. A USB-capable data port is housed on the unit's right side, and there's a standard jack to accept universal hands-free headsets (as well as a stereo headset for music listening). A microSD/TransFlash memory card slot is provided for data and music storage.

Calling Features
The V360 supports polyphonic ringtones as well as MP3 ringers, allowing you to use portions of your favorite songs to alert you to incoming calls. You can also assign pictures and ringers to your most common callers. A number of ringtones come preloaded on the phone, and more ringtones can be downloaded from T-Mobile's t-zones service. There's even an included application, MotoMixer, that enables you to mix your own ringtones.

Speed dialing, which allows you to call preprogrammed numbers with one button, is built in, as is a vibrating alert. A speakerphone makes it easy to talk without having the phone to your ear. Meanwhile, voice-activated dialing makes calling your friends, family, and associates as easy as saying their names. The V360's phone book can hold up to 1,000 contacts; if you have that many friends and colleagues, more power to ya! Lastly, the phone's Bluetooth connectivity means that your favorite Bluetooth headset is fully compatible.

Messaging, Internet, and Tools
The V360 has all the bases covered when it comes to messaging and Internet connectivity. The phone features support for instant messaging (T-Mobile messaging charges apply), and there's also a built-in Web browser for t-zones downloads and mobile Web browsing. T-Mobile's t-zones service lets you receive and send emails, read news headlines, get weather updates, download games and ringtones, and more. And with support for EDGE data speeds, the V360 makes the mobile Internet experience fast and enjoyable.

The V360 comes with a built-in e-mail client (with support for POP3, SMTP and IMAP4 e-mail standards) and traditional text messaging, and video, picture, and sound messaging are also supported. iTap text entry, which is a technology that makes it easier to enter words and text on handsets, is built into the unit--a plus for mobile e-mail and text messaging users.

A number of handy software tools are bundled with the V360, including a voice memo recorder, a calculator, a calendar, and an alarm clock. You can also use the phone's Bluetooth capability to set up a wireless link with a Bluetooth accessory or to connect to a computer or hand-held device to exchange and synchronize data. The phone supports the SyncML PC synchronization standard, which can be used with Motorola's Mobile Phone Tools PC application to manage and synchronize contacts, calendar, and other data with your PC.

Imaging and Entertainment
With 5 MB of internal memory storage and a memory expansion slot, the V360 shines in the entertainment department. The phone's VGA (640 x 480) camera features a 4x digital zoom, image quality options, and an auto-timer so you can be in your pictures, too. Capture stills and then send them to your friends via MMS messaging or e-mail or to your PC via USB or Bluetooth. The V360 adds video capability, too, meaning you can capture short video clips and, just like photos, share them how you see fit. The phone also supports custom graphics for wallpapers so you can dress up the phone to suit your fancy.

The big news with the V360, though, is the built-in MP3 music player, which can queue up your favorite tracks from a memory card. Jam out to your tunes while you're on the go. And if you're into mobile gaming, the V360 has you covered. The phone ships with several games, and more are available via the t-zones service.

Vital Statistics
The Motorola V360 weighs 3.9 ounces and measures 3.5 by 1.85 by .94 inches. Its lithium-ion battery is rated at up to 7.5 hours of digital talk time and up to 240 hours of digital standby time. It runs on the 850/1800/1900 MHz GSM/GPRS frequencies. The phone comes with a one-year limited warranty.

[+] 6.0 Solid for about a year
Both my ballfriend and I have this phone, and it worked quite well (good reception, volume levels, camera) for the first year. But after 1 & 1.5 years, our phones both began to have the following problems:

- No longer rings out loud when receiving a call
- Can no longer enter phone book to view specific numbers
- Shortcut keys used to dial phone numbers no longer work

So I guess I would recommend this phone if you only need a phone for about a year or if you change phones often.

[+] 8.0 One year with V360
Dear all

I have been using this piece for the last one year and its quite a decent one.It has got all the basic stuff so wonderfully packed.
An ample speaker phone and wonderful cam can come handy at times.
MP3 player is so gud...but had to purchase an addition mem card.
I recently had a problem with handset regarding the voice and this is immediately replaced by T mobile..which makes it trust at ruining times..
Thanks for tmobile and amazon...

Hope this helps

[+] 6.0 Very impressed, very customizable, feature packed
I have owned this phone for 4 days now, I have run it through its paces, I am moving from a Nokia 6800 which has the qwrty keypad. I was unsure how I would like a motorola text feature, but it is actually not bad to use, the pretictive text helps speed you through, also the canned messages that you can insert are easy to access. What I notice about the menu structure, is everything pertaining to your options in a given feature is easy to access. The phone reception seems good. I was a little disappointed in the bluetooth sync with apple isync, doesnt carry over address information at this time, or calendar from what I can see. But the calendar is very easy to add appointments, straight forward to set up alarms, will alarm you even if phone is off. You can add pictures and mp3 via bluetooth and make them available for ring tones or alert sounds, very customizable in this aspect, you can set up individual callers with there own ring tone. One thing it appears is a down fall, is the external memory card you can use for videos, mp3, and pictures, but these cannot be used as your ringtones, etc. so you are limited to internal memory for the fun features of the phone. So I dont think I really did need the 512 MB card I bought for it since Im not using the camera for more then setting up a few photos for the photo ID. The manual I think is a bit complicated. I would found it easier to play with the phone and learned it quickly over trying to learn how to set up and customize a Sony T610, poor phone that sony made. I will probably stay with Motorola in the future if they keep this interface and only improve on syncing.. etc..

[+] 10.0 Excellent phone
If you want a cell phone that is well made, looks good, feels good to use and is a really good phone as opposed to a phone and a bunch of other things the V360 is an excellent choice. It has enough features to keep things interesting but is easy to use and above all is a really good phone that does not sacrifice call quality or battery life to a bunch of useless features that I don't want. it also looks and feels good and is thus a pleasure to use.

[+] 2.0 Very disappointing
Prior to buying this phone I had heard a lot of people say that Motorola's hardware was very good, but that their software left a lot to be desired. Nonetheless I decided to try this phone out when it came time to start a new cell plan. I had made the decision to switch to T-mobile and this looked like one of the best phone options. Right off the bat I found out that the people who criticized Moto's software were right on the money. There are a host of poorly designed software aspects of this phone, not the least of which is the -- frankly -- idiotic way the phone book is designed. Eventually I made peace with all of the things I disliked about the V360 since at least it seemed to work well enough as a phone.

As time went by I started noticing that I was missing a lot of calls. The phone would be in my bag or in my pocket or sitting on my desk when suddenly it would ring with the voicemail notification from a message that I had received anywhere from minutes to hours before. During the course of the last few months (the phone is less than a year old) I've also found that it has begun crashing. A lot. Opening or closing it will result in a "white screen of death." Putting it on the charger will cause it to switch back and forth between the messages that it is charging, that it is unable to charge and that it's SIM card cannot be found, after a few minutes of which it will simply shut itself off. With a full battery charge it will continually shut itself off.

At this point I am forced to conclude that this phone is an absolute piece of junk. I am also forced to conclude that it isn't the only model which is. None of my coworkers has ever had a good experience with a Motorola phone. My wife's Motorola has shown its own host of problems. People working for T-mobile at several stores I have visited have confided that they never, ever recommend Motorola phones to anyone. In fact I've had T-mobile employees urge me to not buy any phones from them, but rather to shop for an unlocked Nokia online. So that's what I'm going to do.

Until I can buy a new phone all I can do is recharge this phone every night, restart it five or six times a day, and keep apologizing to my friends, family and employers for always missing their calls.

[+] 8.0 Quad-Band Unlocked V360
I bought my V360 on eBay and it was sold unlocked/unbranded and it was of the quad-band variety. Here's my take:

PROS:
-Durability; this thing was built with the clumsy in mind (like me). I must have dropped this thing a dozen times and there's barely a scratch.

-MP3 player; I agree that the onboard 5MB of memory is a joke, but with the cost of TranshFlash memory coming down (I bought my 512MB chip on eBay for $7.99) then upgrading is easy and affordable. That being said, the MP3 player is a feature you will actually USE, and the sound quality is good. I've had no problem with playing my iTunes music (as long as they're mp3 format AND no greater that 192Kbps in quality then it will play fine.) **Media Player defaults to wma and iTunes defaults to m4a formats - you need to convert them to mp3 or change the default in either program to rip to mp3 format (you can change the default to mp3 in the settings menu)

-Programmable "smart keys"; I read where one user complained that the camera button was not on the side, it was the camera icon button on the front keypad. He must not have known that you can reprogram all of the smart buttons from the "Personalize" menu. Not only that, but you can rearrange the menu buttons and program most of the buttons on the face for frequently used apps. It's a handy little feature.

-Built in Bluetooth and EDGE technology. You may not use these features out-of-the box, but they're for the time when these technologies are more commonplace. I use my Bluetooth for my wireless headset and for syncing and adding files (mp3's, pics, etc) to my phone with my laptop.

-Quad-Band World Phone capable. This phone works on 850, 900, 1800, and 1900 GSM networks (although that has not been personally tested). However, I will be traveling to Micronesia and the UK within the year and I'll know for certain by then.

CONS:
-There's a slight delay when you answer a call - I usually have to say "hello" 2-3 times or wait a few seconds before I begin to speak. I don't know if this is a carrier problem or the phone. (I use Cingular prepaid).

-The light stays on while charging (even when the phone is powered off). It's annoying.

-The onboard memory is a joke. You really need to upgrade the memory if you want to do anything extra with the phone.

-It has a monochrome outer display (full color inside). This doesn't bother me at all, but it's not as flashy as Razr or other phones.

OVERALL:
This is a great, durable little phone with handy features I think people will actually use. I've read where people complain about the picture quality - but that's what a digital camera is for. If you want a good quality cell phone that's well designed, user friendly, and doesn't look like a tricked-out teenager's phone, then this is the phone for you.

[+] 6.0 Good, basic value phone
I've had this phone for about 8 months now, so I'm in a pretty good position to evaluate it...

Pros: great signal and headset speaker volume. I also use the EDGE capabilities to connect my laptop to T-Mobile's EDGE network (via either a cable or Bluetooth). Battery life is better than I'd been led to expect - although to be fair, I don't talk on my phone all day like some people. But I rarely am disappointed that the phone battery is dead when I didn't expect it to be.

The phone's menus are fairly easy to use. I previously had two Nokia phones so I was worried about that. Not an issue, even though I still prefer Nokia's interface.

One thing I REALLY like (vs. the Nokias) is that the phone signal and power connector is a universial mini-USB plug, meaning you don't need any special cable for connecting the phone to a computer. I have three of these mini-USB to USB cables from other hardware devices that will work with the phone in a pinch. By contrast, the Nokias have weird, special, expensive cables that are different for every phone - what a scam! I can also charge my phone using the laptop's USB port with one of these cables.

Con: I'm finding this to be a *BIG* annoyance: this is my first clamshell phone, and I like the idea that I won't hit the buttons on my phone while it's closed in my pocket. BUT, the ring volume button on the side of my phone gets nudged all the time, and I find that my phone doesn't keep the same ring tone/settings for very long. I set it to vibrate and ring one ring yesterday; today it doesn't vibrate and now rings the default "T-Mobile" ring! All because the side button got hit in my pocket. Honestly, I never know what my phone sounds like when I'm in a room and a phone rings. Is that mine, reset again? I'm aways checking my phone to see (because it might not vibrate now, either). HUGE pain! This is a big design flaw of this phone.

The detailing on the outside of the phone was really cheap, and the "T-Mobile" logo scratched off months ago. After 8 months it already looks like an ancient phone, the cheap plastic phone that it is. On the other hand, it still works fine, seems sturdy, etc. and looks like it will go on working for years, no matter how bad it looks.

I find that my EDGE connection to T-Mobile is really slow, maybe dial-up speeds (this may simply be a T-Mobile issue, nothing to do with the phone, but this has been a big disappointment too).

I would look twice before getting another phone, to try to avoid this horrible "ringer volume" problem.

[+] 6.0 Ehh....it's okay...
...At first glance, this appears to be a pretty sweet phone--the camera is pretty good, as is the available bluetooth and removable memory chip. Once you get past that, though, the phone falls prey to many of the glitches and inconsistencies characteristic of most post-Timeport Motorola phones (freezing, crashing, poor application performance). While it is a considerable upgrade from the v330 and a far superior phone to the RAZR and ROKR (albeit not as pretty), this makes it obvious Motorola really needs to work more on perfecting their technology before saturating the market with it.

I've had a bear of a time getting reception in my apartment, which is somewhat inconveniently located on the side of a mountain--while I would normally chalk this up to service provder, my spouse, who also has T-Mobile, is able to use her Nokia 6101 with no network problems whatsoever.

Overall, I'm greatly disappointed with this phone; as soon as I unlock my Ericsson Z520a (which I'd used for the past year with a different carrier), I will seriously consider putting my T-Mobile SIM card in it.

[+] 8.0 Better than my old LG piece of junk
This is a good solid phone so far. Other reviewers are correct that you should invest the time to the read the manual. My biggest complaint that has not yet been addressed in the reviews is that the phone can only hold 30 text messages in its memory. Despite having something like five Meg of memory on the phone and a Micro SD memory card, that's it. The size of the text message doesn't seem to matter.

[+] 10.0 One of the most feature packed phones!
This is a great phone that I've used for a year now. I'd like to highlight the standout features that make this phone unique, especially at its price.

MP3 player. Just get an adapter for the usb port (a few bucks on eBay) and you can plug in your stereo headphones. Too bad they haven't offered an update to the Motorola Digital Audio Player.

MicroSD slot. You can take a MicroSD card, put it into the included adapter and plug into an SD slot on your computer and copy MP3s (you can take any mp3 and make it your ringtone, cropping it will make it more effective), 3GP videos (animation looks great, but the sound was slightly out of sync, search the web for video converters to convert your content), or pictures. I love making my own ringtones and not having to buy them.

Bluetooth. I got an Explorer 320 headset for $20 and it works great with it.

Battery. Easily exchangeable. Easily slide off the cover and pop in a fresh one. The battery life isn't very long, so it's good to have a spare battery, they're cheap.

Video camera. Not high quality video, but its something the old RAZR couldn't do.

Customization. I love customization. You can set up the hotkey on the side of the phone, the two on the top of the keypad, and the directional pad to go directly to most functions of the phone. It even has a shortcut list to list all your favorite features. You can easily make any picture including pics you take into your wallpaper. Also you can find replacement faceplates to make your phone unique.

Speakerphone. Works even when closed. Good for using automated phone menu systems and when you're put on hold. The speaker is loud and great for ringtones and mp3s. The plastic may resonate at certain sounds though.

Vibrating alert. VIBE THEN RING! Why doesn't every phone have this?? It should be the default standard for all phones. The vibration is definitely strong enough to feel in a pocket. If you are one to show off your ringtone, let it move onto ring, otherwise be descreet and answer immediately.

-----------------------------------------------------------

As for what I don't like. I don't care much for the Motorola menu style. I prefer Sanyo and Samsung interfaces. The menu is the same as a RAZR or SLVR. All the lettering on the outside as well as some case paint has rubbed off. I carry my phone in my pocket so the phone has aged a bit. I scraped off the remainder of the lettering so it wouldn't look half worn off.

-----------------------------------------------------------

All the great features is what keeps me from getting a Samsung t509 or other more expensive phones. This phone just has all the fee-free features you could want.

[+] 2.0 THIS PHONE SUCKS ALONG WITH TMOBILE
I received my phone new from tmobile to find the keypad only works occasionally at random. When I called customer service after much troubleshooting, they asked me if it ever worked and I said yes, sometimes but it doesn't work all of the time and it happens everyday and it is extremely inconvenient to me. They said they couldn't replace it b/c it works some of the time! Unbelievable bull****. I hate tmobile and their worthless piece of junk phone.

[+] 4.0 poor battery life - among other problems
I have had my V360 for about 6 months now. I was not happy with it the first week I had it, but I thought I should try and get used to it before writing a negative review.

I chose this phone due to the high number of positive reviews it received on this website, and honestly, I can see why some people might really like this device. The display is nice and it takes decent photos for a cell phone. Unfortunatly, I have been disappointed with it for the following reasons:

1. I found the battery life to be frustratingly short - at least compared to my previous phone (nokia 6610).

2. I could hear people very well using the speakerphone, but generally people had such a difficult time hearing me that it was never worthwhile to use it.

3. I could hardly ever get reception in my apartment unless I stood in the kitchen corner. Nobody else has ever had a problem with other phones in my apartment - even with the same service provider.

4. The menu organization always seemed counter-intuitve to me. Also, I could never figure out how to store more than one phone number under a single name. It drove me crazy because I would have to enter a name for each number a person had (i.e. Mom home, Mom cell, Mom work) I don't think that there is a way to do it, and that seemed strange because I considered that a basic feature.

For these reasons, I cannot recommend this phone.

[+] 8.0 Great phone, but you have to work for it
I love this phone. Of course, it gets and makes calls just fine. I could theoretically stick the phone's memory card right into my computer's SD card reader, which is some nice compatibility. The phone plays music and podcasts, with a speaker loud enough that I've impressed many a housemate and co-worker. The video camera is fun. My boyfriend's ring tone is an mp3 from "The Simpsons." I just got three pieces of the Tri-Force in a Java version of the classic "Legend of Zelda" video game. These are all really impressive and fun features.

That said, nothing about the V360 is easy. You have to spend an evening with the manual to figure out the basics. The menus are a counter-intuitive disaster, and the sooner Motorola and T-Mobile switch to non-proprietary software, the better. One real annoyance is that in the address book, my friends have to have two separate entries for their email addresses and phone numbers. There's also a lot of switching between phone/transflash/data/bluetooth to do to get things to work right.

After you spend an evening just setting up, you find you have to order new headphones and get the software that allows you to move mp3s from your computer to your phone. You have to buy a bigger memory card. Then you have to install that and get it working. Some music will work and some won't and it isn't clear why not unless you want to spend (surprise!) a lot of time figuring it out.

Then you want to figure out how to unlock Java so you can make use of really fun games and other cute software. Very little of this is in the manual, none was on the Motorola web site last time I looked, and I didn't want to even try asking customer service how to do this, given that they'd (accidentally?) misled me about the amount of memory in the phone when I bought it.

The V360 is a really fantastic multi-function device -- it's just a real pain in the neck to unlock all its potential. In all, I'd say I've spent five days making my phone do all it should have been able to do straight out of the box.

[+] 2.0 Didn't even last more than a month
I bought this phone after seeing that it was #1 on consumer reports website. I liked the phone a lot, until last week. When I wanted to turn the phone on, it started saying "invalid battery". I was shocked as the phone was less than a month old.

I asked for a replacement battery. They sent me the wrong battery. It was an extended life battery, which made the back cover not fit. And it did not solve the "invalid battery" issue anyways.

Furthermore, I experienced this issue, when I was on vacation. So, I couldn't use my phone and plan for about 6 days.

I have so far used Samsung, Panasonic, Nokia and Ericsson. I never had a single problem with them. Now, I am back to using my 4-year-old Ericsson T39. As soon as I get this V360 fixed, I am thinking of putting it on craigslist to get the salvage value at least.

I do not recommend this phone at all. Go for a reliable brand, and don't take consumer reports research too seriously.

[+] 10.0 I LOVE this phone!
I traded in my V195 for this phone and it was the best decision i could've made cell phone wise. I've read a couple of reviews that says that the phone has poor sound quality. I hear everyone I'm talking to clearly, even in a loud environment and everyone says that I can be heard clearly also.

PROS: Great camera for a cell phone. Takes clear pictures for the most part

Plays MP3's

Nice, clear, color screen

Sturdy clam shell phone and snaps shut nicely

Nice design, if you're into looks

You can take pictures with the camera and use them as the screen on the main menu. For me, this keeps me from paying for wallpaper for my phone.

Comes with a wide array of ringtones as well as a few hi-fi's

You can change around the function for the keys to what works for you.

Takes videos and let's you create your own ringtones

Nice loud ringtones

For me, clear good reception
I could go on but this is just to name a few. Now for the few, very few, cons of this phone. Which they really don't bother me, but I'll mention.

CONS: The camera is worthless in a dark environment, no flash is available on the phone

This phone comes with 3 games and only one is not a demo

When you miss a call, the screen says, "one unknown call" until you press "view". Even if the caller is registered in your phone book. (once you press view, the callers name and call details will come up)

Those are my few and unimportant (for me) cons of this phone. If I had a chance to change my phone for another, I would'nt. If you are thinking about upgrading, seriously look into this phone. You will not be disappointed!

t-mobile has the worst customer service i have experienced. so much so, that i am willing to cancel my contract with them and pay $400.00 in fees rather than have to deal with their customer service reps again. they have numerous technical problems with their network (my phone has not been working for 3 weeks now) and they have the audacity to offer me more minutes (my phone is still not working, what am I going to do with the minutes?) as a compensation for my troubles, but I still have to pay my bill.
So, if you are in the market for new cell phone service, be more concerned with the provider rather than the gadget. Stay away from T-Mobile!!!!!!!!

[+] 2.0 Worst customer services
T-mobile has the worst customer services. Sometimes, It is the company's mistake and they still blame it on the customer. Since I started my plan, I had a problem reciving my bill on time. So, the company start charging me $5 late fee for four consecutive months. Also, when I tried adding additional features such as their text-message-bundle, the change on the account did not take effect till two days later, and I was charged for 10 cents for each message I used in these two days, and It costed me an additional $4. Every time I tried complaining to their customer services, they just wouldn't listen. I am starting to get the feeling that they are just trying to maximize their profit. More than once, if I stay long-enough on the line, they put me on mute so they don't have to listen to my complaining. I feeling that I am being treated like dirt not like a customer. I had the worst customer-services experience with t-mobile. Also, the reception is not the best in the country. I had friends who were using the same phone as the one I have but different network, and they were getting services in places where I don't have it, and they pay about the same amount of money.

[+] 6.0 problematic sound quality
I got this phone a week ago and at the begining really really liked it. It has a good feel, lots of cool features and good menus. The only - very basic - problem is the sound quality and volume level. Let's face it - you buy a cell phone first and for most in order to talk to people.
At it's highest set, the ear piece volume is on the verge of "OK" in a quite room. If you are on the street you defiantly want to raise the volume, but you can't :(
The speaker is even worse. On the street it is simply impossible to hear or understand the other person, and even in a quit room i eventually gave up the speaker. it has a very squeaky sound and in general it sounds like the speaker it self is just to small and can't provide the sound level and quality that is needed.
I have my old Nokia 3610 and it may not have a color screen, camera and so on, but the sound - ho, the sound....:)
so sorry Motorola, but as the old master at "karate kid" say "first learn to walk, then learn to fly". I am sending this phone back and getting a Nokia.

[+] 10.0 V360 - Great Choice
When I began shopping for a cell phone, my criteria was 'simplicity' I just want a good phone and I wasn't really interested in a lot of 'extras'.
The V360 covers the basics of a good phone admirably. AND it has a number of extras thrown in as well.
Overall, I am very pleased with the V360. It has proven to be a good choice.

[+] 4.0 Nice features, not so good signal and voice quality
I bought this phone expecting it to be a step up from my Motorola v300. I was really into the MP3 player with the ability to store music files on the Micro SD slot, Bluetooth, and to get a look at the latest software. I had the V300 for two years and loved its solid signal reception, great battery life and overall solid build. I assumed since the V360 is a descendant of the V300 family line it will be that great and much more.

The good stuff: MP3 player Micro SD, Bluetooth. All these features are there and appear to be working OK.

The bad stuff: the V360 has poor signal reception! I had it side by side with the V300 and Nokia 6010, both V300 and 6010 had a good signal and were not dropping calls or sounding garbled; the V360 however could not connect to the network at all. I actually had two V360 since T-Mobile sent me a replacement, both of these V360 just couldn't connect. Obviously the idea to remove the external antenna was a bad one. So; if you use your phone in an area where coverage is moderate to low (two bars) forget about the V360.
Another bad is the voice quality; I don't want to bash Motorola but this has always been their week spot, and they actually moved backwards on this with the V360.

Bottom line: Sent mine back within the first 14 days, and am now using the very functional/great signal and voice quality Nokia 6010.

[+] 10.0 Leave the RAZR in the bathroom!
I had my choice.... a V360 or a Razr, I chose the V360.
The last thing I wanted to be was a trend-follower, I see all the execs exiting their BMW's wearing their Armani with the Razr in their hands.

-I don't think so!!

I am soooo glad I chose the better phone!! The V360 phone is AWESOME!!!!! It is stylish and classy and SMART. Unlike the Razr it doesn't feel like it's going to break when you open it.

First of all, unlike phones I've owned in the past, this one has the look and feel of a quality phone, solid design. Sporty and cool.

The features are impressive, you can download your own pictures for wallpaper (what could be better than Neil Peart's R30 DW drum kit - all-a-sparkle with the gold trim?) and ringtones from your MP3's (I chose Van Halen's Eruption as a ringtone)

The sound quality is incredible, especially for a mobile phone. Motorola out did themselves on this phone, it's the best I've ever seen or heard. It has all the latest features including Bluetooth.

The camera: Ok, let's be real, who buys a mobile phone to use as a camera? Not me, I have a very expensive high quality Sony Camera. But this phone takes good pictures albeit, for a mobile phone (640x480), outdoor ample light is a key to this however.

Summary: Buy this phone, it's well worth a hundred bucks, I didn't pay that much, but I would have. After getting my hands and ears on this phone, I do feel it is far better than anything else out there right now. Especially the cheesy Razr. But hey, even Motorola makes mistakes now and then. ;)

*edited to add more...

The more I use this phone, the better I feel for getting this model instead of anything else, especially the RAZR which from what I'm reading is a piece of trash.

This phone has excellent sound, excellent reception, outstanding features, the software is incredible, the battry life in unbelievable, I go days and days and suddenly I see it drop one bar, wow! The key is fully discharge the battery, then charge it fully, then fully discharge it. If you break it in right, this battery will last over a week before needing a charge! I play alot with the games, and sound files too. Excellent sound quality! The pictures turn out very nice.

I only wish I could give this phone 10 stars instead of 5... in fact I think I will -- **********

[+] 6.0 Great features, still frustrating at times
I do love the features of the phone, especially the music player and camera/video. Still, my last phone was a Samsung, so I was used to its user-friendliness. Motorolas are definitely not user friendly, and things are harder to find (especially when setting up 1-touch dialing). I still haven't figured out how to customize ringtones (anyone know how??) and the manual is not really helpful at all. Also, I haven't found a way to set a phone type (cell, work, home, etc.) while still having it as a 1 touch dial entry (1 touch dial must be stored to SIM card, can't set phone type for SIM entries!). I don't hate the phone, but it sure is complicated!

[+] 10.0 great phone!
I have had MANY different types of phones, and this phone has to be my favorite. It is very light weight and the perfect size. The optional memory stick is perfect for photos and videos! Although my front plate broke, it with held MANY drops (only broke because it was dropped at the right angle on stones). Great camera qualities for a phone camera. Also easy to attach to a pc for picture downloads!

[+] 2.0 Lousy
GENERAL
Lousy device. I returned this after a few days.

CONS
* Not usable as an MP3 player. The included software lacks an equalizer and I could not find any alternative software for this device. (I ended up getting a T-Mobile SDA and found the sound quality terrible despite having an equalizer. I assume this phone is also incapable of producing decent sound.)

* Handset ear piece is low volume. I had to use speakerphone even in quiet environment.

* Software is sluggish.

PROS
None that I recall.

[+] 8.0 NOT STEREO
This phone will not play the music over a bluetooth headset, you can make and receive calls via bluetooth but not play the music, it will automatically redirect the music to the speaker-phone when in bluetooth mode. When using the 2.5 plug, this plug is mono not stereo.

Too late for me... save yourselves! But, I must say that for the price the other features such as the Flash card, USB and bluetooth make up for this.

[+] 4.0 Good phone; bad reception
Don't get this phone if you place or receive calls where there is a marginal signal. It won't work. Nokia is better. This isn't a recommendation for Nokia, though. I just don't have experience with other phone models. I wish there was an objective rating for sensitivity so buyers don't have to go through an expensive trial-and-error process to find one that's OK.

[+] 10.0 Great device
To me this is a great communication device, does what it needs to do and more.Wont go over all details since other people all ready wrote them.Great screen color, good mp3.pairs fast and good with my bluetooth. One thing I loved about it was that I didnt like much the ringtones that came with the phone. So all that needs to be done is,connect the phone to the pc with the usb cable down load whatever song to the memory card in the phone, then go to the sound menu,go to the song, hit in the menu switch to phone memory then apply as ringtone and walla, you got your favorite song as ringtone. Will recomend to any one that wants a phone and a device to play with. For the price can go wrong.

[+] 10.0 What doesn't this phone do?
I've only had mine for a few days now, but it's greatly exceeded my expectations.

I was a customer on Cingular, and had a SonyEriccson phone. I had a few dead spots that were driving me nuts on frequently travelled roads. Whether it was the switch in services, or the better reception of the phone, so far, it's very much improved.

As far as the phone goes, what's the clamor for the RAZR/PEBL/SLVR? (OK, they look really cool :)
The V360 has external storage via transflash (up to 512MB), plays mpg4 movies and music (apparently an accessory's needed for stereo: A 2.5mm to 3.5mm jack adapter, headphones like the Motorola SYN1301, or the bluetooth stereo headphones like the Motorla HT820), and otherwise seems to do everything that the RAZR does and then some.

I was looking at the V600 before this came out and a little envious of the CDMA E815 on Verizon, but I'm really glad I waited and did some more research.

The downsides I have so far:
As with many cell phones, the stock ringtones are unsuitable to me. I want something like a "traditional" ringing bell, and nothing on-board comes close.

The menus are just not so intuitive (to me at least). Maybe it's a function of all the features on board. Having gone from the most basic Nokia to a decent mid-range SonyEriccson to this Motorola, so far it's a PITA to get to things that were easily accessed before.

I'm more than a little concerned about how the interior display with its pretty chrome face will hold up to normal wear and tear, but I'm getting a V360 specific case, and bluetooth hands-free devices, so it may not matter too much.

As far as working as a phone, it's been great. The user interface stuff is minor in comparison, and takes off a half star, which rounds back up to 5 in my book. I'm sure by the time I figure out how to customize the menus and get used to the hands-free devices, I'll mind even less.

All that's left is to get a bluetooth adapter and software tools for my PC. It looks like the current crop of Motorola bluetooth accessories are v1.2 in case anyone's interested.

Additionally, for those looking for quad-band usage and overlooking this phone, the lack of the 4th band is apparently software-locked, not missing hardware. That will be worth some investigation.

[+] 8.0 Motorola V-series gets better
I had a Motorola V600 my wife bought me for Christmas, which was an abysmal phone and was not happy to see go when I lost it (save for all the data on my SIM card!). She eventually replaced her old Samsung with a V330 which I considered an excellent phone, but lacking pizazz. Well, once I lost my V600, I needed a new one and the V360 was the best one I could find. I've had it a little over a month now and love it.

It's compact and stylish. The external display is easy to read and more informative. The external buttons don't seem to be hypersensitive like they were on the V600, plus the phone doesn't make noise when I change ring styles with them. The layout is pure Motorola, which is to say excellent. The display is crisp and clean and the menus are easy to scroll through. The phone's sound is excellent.

What really sells it though is the MP3 player. I'm not normally a big fan of objects doing more than one thing, because they usually do none of them well, but here, the MP3 player is a complement to the phone, not competing with it. I find it useful when walking to work. The drawback is the tiny memory card the phone came with (64 Meg) and the lack of stereo headphones. I've also had trouble trying to sync music files to the card using the USB transfer cable, but fortunately it comes with an adapter that allows me to plug the memory card directly into a card reader so I can drag and drop songs onto it.

All-in-all, the V360 provides a lot of phone for a reasonable price. I can't wait to see how Motorola tries to top it.

[+] 8.0 If the phonebook were easier, It would get 5 stars
I LOVE this phone.
Camera, Video, MP3Player.
The sound is amazing. Upgradeable transflash card.
You can use your computer to drag and drop pictures and sounds to and from the phone. Making MP3 Ringtones a snap.
One problem. The phone book is a very big headache.
I'm going to try to get it worked out with T-Mobile, however that is the ONLY complaint I have with this phone. Because everything else on it is outstanding.

[+] 8.0 Good phone, but Amazon's REBATE processing is a problem
The V360's a good phone. I don't need a lot of bells and whistles; I just need a phone that works.

I would however warn potential buyers to not necessarily take the rebate into account when price comparing. While I'm not saying you won't get it, you will certainly be in for quite a wait. I've been waiting four months for mine. If you can get a deal for close to this without the rebate hassle - take it.

[+] 10.0 This phone has it all~
Now I'm going to be very honest. The first time I got this phone it had problems. The phone kept on redirecting to the main menu every 1 min or so. So, I showed it to the people at T-Mobile (note: It's better to go back to the store you bought it from instead of relying on customer service to solve your problems) and they told me that the phone had an internal software problem so they gave me a brand new phone. So here's the review!

It's stylish and light. It has a nice grip to it and is quite sturdy. I've only dropped it twice and everything is still fully functioning. It doesn't have an annoying antenna on it and all of my calls come out very clear. I always get great reception. Not to mention it has bluetooth. :] The battery lasts long too!

Texting is quite easy as well. And I was able to find everything okay with the Manual. Try using the Table of Contents or Index if you get lost. And if that doesn't work for you then try messing around with it, it really isn't that complicated.

My favorite features of the phone is the Camera and the MP3 function!

I don't bother buying wallpapers for the phone so I instead take pictures with the camera of magazines I own and I must say... the pictures come out really good~! You'd be surprised.

I love the speaker! The music sounds really good~! Although you can't store many tracks you can always purchase a memory card that can store more for you. I think it's definitely worth the investment if you bought the phone for the MP3 feature. It doesn't come with any earphones but if you think that's really necessary then go get yourself an ipod or something. The video quality isn't the best but its great to have the feature anyway.

Overall, this phone is a winner in my book. At first I wanted the Motorola Black RAZR but I'm glad I didn't because the RAZR doesn't have half of the features this V360 has.

I did a lot of research on this phone before getting it. I compared it with the rest of the phones T-Mobile has out and it turned out that the V360 has most of the same features so you're really getting a good deal here. :)

If you're looking for a phone that's up-to-date with features but don't want to spend a bundle on it then this is the phone for you~!

[+] 2.0 Danger Will Robinson!!
To paraphrase Mae West, when Motorola v360 phones are good, they are very good. However, when they are bad, they are horrible!! I have friends who have had each experience. As for me, in less than 3 months, I have needed 2 new batteries. The voicemail locks up after approximately 2 minutes. Now, my phone no longer rings. Motorola's customer service is absolutely the worst possible.

After more than 45 minutes on hold, Motorola's agent told me that they have had lots of customers with these problems. Naturally, none of their sincere suggestions fixed any of these glitches.

If you win the quality lottery, you will like this phone. If you are the other 50%, you will literally and figuratively be "Lost in Space".

Amazon sucks as far as rebate is concerned. The first
time they shipped the phone, it was lost in the mail. so after three weeks they send it again. And from the time I submitted the rebate of $150 in mid january, i still have NOT received it as of now.
T-mobile customer service is good, signal strength is fine and no problems on that side, love this motorola phone as well.

[+] 10.0 I love this phone!
I was disapointed with the last Motorola I had (a C650), because the volume never seemed loud enough, but I am very happy with this phone. The sound quality with and without the hands free set are great, the text messaging is easy, and I love that it plays MP3s. As with all Motorolas, though, the instruction booklet doesn't tell you how to do a lot of stuff so it can be frustrating if you've never owned one before. You just have to either play around with it or go online and get tips from others. I'd like it a bit better if it were lighter, but it's still a great phone.
