A part of Mario Kart History
For as long as I can remember I have relished in playing the Mario Kart titles. One of my favorite of all time is on the Nintendo 64 platform. Fortunately for me, this Wii Wheel has enabled me to relive some of my fondest Mario Kart memories via the Mario Kart Wii game. Over all the feel and immediate response from the wheel during game play is great. It will however take some getting use to. This shouldn't require too much game play but once you have learned its tricks you will consider it money well spent.

Wii Wheel - A Necessity
We bought this for my 3 1/2 year old to use with his Wii Cars game and unfortunately, it hasn't helped much. The wheel is very sensitive and my 3 1/2 year old just doesn't get it. Its been good for my 5 1/2 year old to use though.
We rent from GameFly, so the wheel wouldn't come with Mario Kat Wii when we rented it. Now we own the wheel for the cost of a movie store rental. Product works well, and appears as it does in photos.

Wii Wheel at a Discount
I checked the prices at Target and Toys'R Us first before buying the Wii Wheel for Mario Kart on Amazon. You don't need the wheel to play the game, but it's a nice themed wheel as another user described it. I'm just happy that I found a better deal on Amazon than at the stores and was able to save a little on this purchase here.
Mario Cart is a blast. Yes you can play without the wheel, but it just doesn't have the same feel. The Nintendo brand is much nicer and sturdier compared to the off brand I also own. It's worth the money.

Wii Wheel adds to racing experience
We got a Nintendo Wii and soon after purchased the MarioKart game which came with just one of these Wii Wheels. We have 2 Wii remotes though so of course we had to get a second Wii Wheel!
Such a fun, new way to add to the racing experience!
I've tried the old wheels and pedal sets that hook up to the console back in the original Playstation days, but the Wii Wheel is so much simpler and easier to use (and set up).
Just pop the Wii Remote out of the Wii condom and pop it into the Wheel until it snaps and you're good to go! Accelerate by holding one button, use items by pressing the button on the back and steer by turning the wheel!
So much fun!

changes how we play wii
Having the wheel changes the way we play driving games - SO MUCH FUN!!!!!
Bought 4 so everyone can "drive" at the same time.
Cheap and awesome!!!
Disappointed because I can't attach a nun chuck while the remote is in the wheel. The kids like to hold the wheel even when they don't have to steer. This is my first time using a Wii, but it seemed logical to me to be able to hook the nun chuch in while I use the wheel. Maybe I'm an idiot?
I love the wii wheel. It makes the racing feel so much more authentic and I have had no issues with it what so ever.

it's a wheel. it hasn't broken yet
I think the wheel makes Mario Kart Wii a bit more fun but if you are strapped for cash, it is definitely not a necessity.

My kids love it but....
I really find it easier to race MarioKart by just holding the remote sideways. Don't see any appreciable difference in racing by having the remote in the wheel but, like I said, my kids love to use it.
really nice if you want to improve your fun when you play car games! my kids love it when they play mario kart :)

Wii wheel is useless
- It is harder playing a car racing game using the Wii wheel rather than using the buttons.
- The fact that it can move anywhere in space (up-down, front-back, etc) makes it NOT really like a car steering wheel, making it unintuitive.
- Calibration of how much the car turns vs how much you move the wheel is very very hard to figure out as opposed to how controls it.
- With the Wii being in general about seamless intuitive control, this is a anomaly.

Rapid Response and excellent packaging
I really appreciate any company or merchandiser who offers me a product and after I make the purchase they rapidly get me the product intact with no damages and ready to go. The Wheels have worked excellent and we have had lots of fun using them. Although the game we have only uses two, we are looking forward to getting the next game and all four of us racing each other and beating each other. Thanks for a great product and great service too!
This was a Christmas gift for my brother-in-law; I assume he received it and is enjoying it.
The Wii Wheel is a cool feature to Mario Kart Wii, but I don't use it that much. It can be fun but it also can be annoying because it's hard to steer with it. I usually play this game with a GameCube controller, it's easiest.

I never use the wheel
The item itself is well made and fun to use. However, you must remove the silicone case on the Wii Remote to insert it into the wheel, which I never seem to feel like doing. Gameplay without the wheel is not less enjoyable. This is, essentially, an unnecessary accessory. That said, Mario Kart is absolutely a 5 star game with or without the wheel.

A Solid buy. But Not Perfect.
The Official Nintendo Wii Wheel works exactly as you would expect it to, has a solid overall build quality and is a comfortable size for kids and adults alike. It's not flashy or especially inspiring--it's the workaday device that does what it sets out to do, and does it well. For driving games like Mario Kart, the overall playability of the game is superior with the Wheel, no doubt about it.
One critique--and the reason this isn't a five star rating.... The engineers at Nintendo did us all a huge favor by recognizing they needed to accommodate the Wii controller's safety strap--there is a pass through hole made especially for this purpose through the back of the Wheel. BUT, the loose end of the strap is too short to wear at that length, and really too long to tuck in neatly or clip on securely anywhere. So it just flops around while you play, which can be a little distracting. I suppose you could remove the strap from the controller every time, but that would be a huge pain.

Even the grown ups love it!
We got these (2) as Christmas presents....one of the BEST PRESENTS EVER! Our 10-year-old daughter loved the game (Mario Kart Wii) and the whole "feel" of driving the car. Even her two-year-old brother could get in on the fun (just give him the wheel with no remote inserted), and he thought he was "driving with Sissy." We only got two and wished that we had gotten four (remotes sold separately) so that the whole family could have raced together! You can play the game without the wheel, but it's so much more fun with!! Easy to "pop" the remote in and out. Just a really fun add on for the racing game idea!
This thing instantly hurts a muscle in my right hand below my thumb after a short amount of game play. A muscle that NEVER bothers me.
Works good. enables two people to drive at the same time. adds excitement, my kids love it.

Prefer the wiimote and nunchuck
I prefer the wiimote and nunchuck to the wii wheel. I bought the game and two extra wheels. My wife and I didn't like the wheel, having become accustomed to the controls from the old Nintendo 64 game. The nunchuck has more control. My five-year-old loves it, though. (She is not very good yet, and refuses to drive without it. I gave it two stars instead of one because she likes it.) Overall, don't buy any new wheels until you try out the one that comes with the game.

Oversteerers Beware
I find it hard to control the car with the steering wheel and prefer to use the remote and the nunchuck. My 5 year old son was pretty good with the old n64 controller and he prefers this set-up also. With the wheel he was just driving from one side of the road to the other. The nice thing about mario kart is that it offers so many controller options.

will not play a racing game w/o it!
ive read alot of reviews and comments about the nintendo wheel, and how they have problems using it. well, quite honestly, im a HUGE fan of the wii's mario kart, and i just cant imagine playing w/o the wheel. for a plastic object, its really fun to play with and i get so into the game when i use it. i have no problems with any kind of sensor, and the size is perfect for my hands.

Got the game and got two wheels for my wife and I and we were both getting kind of frustrated with the wheels not always registering your turn inputs. We both use the nun chuck-wii mote combo and have ten times more fun this way.

Wii Wheel - Not the most useful
This is kinda helpful if you really need the Wheel feel in your hands. Otherwise, you can just do better with the remote itself. The sleeve has to be removed before you can fit the remote in here, and then you need to start using it pretty much like you'd use only the remote. So, I don't think this was a good buy.
I purchased this for grandchildren and they have really enjoyed it. We got the game (grandpa and grandma) before 3 of our 8 grandchildren visited. They all enjoyed it so much, their parents too, that I bought them the game for home. I then sent one to our other grandchildren. They all loved it. The kids range in age from 19 down to 3. The parents have as much fun as the kids and so do grandpa and grandma.....They all already had the Wii.
I got Mario Kart for my Nintendo Wii and this came with it. Thought it would be a lot of fun and add to the experience, but I found it a little awkward. It's not that it was difficult to use or anything like that, but using a steering wheel not attached to something is different from anything I have ever done and I was unable to get used to it.
Some people love it and there are many "Wheel Only" Mario Kart games, which make it handy to keep around. I don't use it most of the time though.

Surprisingly useful
The Wii Wheel, although just a piece of plastic in the shape of a steering wheel, is surprisingly useful when playing Mario Kart Wii. At first I thought it was a waste of money, but after trying to play the game without it (just holding the controller sideways), I quickly realized that it's worth the money for the ease of use it brings. Since most of the time there's only 1 or 2 people playing, one additional Wii wheel is probably fine, but I probably wouldn't buy 2 additional to have a set of 4.
The important thing to know is that the wheel really doesn't allow you to do anything you can't do otherwise. You don't have to buy one to play the games. It's just a holder that sets the wiimote in a shape that makes it feel a little more like you're actually driving a car.
You can still hit the B-button through a button that's on the underside of the wheel. You can also still use the wiimote's pointer function as needed (there's a hole in the wheel at the appropriate place to let the signal through).
It feels decently good in your hands. It's a little on the small side, but if they'd made it bigger it'd probably have been a little on the heavy side instead, so it's fine.
If you don't like this kind of little prop, feel free to skip it. There won't be any harm done to your ability to play. If do, then enjoy. It does its job well.
The original Wii Wheel great for the mario kart game and a great price from Amazon.

Much fun - an essential accessory!
I bought the wheel when I bought Mario Kart Wii (so I have 2 wheels). I can't imagine playing the game without them. They make the game more interactive and fun. There are 3 kids in my household who also use the wheels, no problems or complaints so far.
You can also find this exact wheel at Wal-Mart for about $10.
