[+] 4.0 Do Not Buy This Camera
Please see past the perks and notice the simple problem that will waste your money!

The camera has issues with batteries, by issues i mean it will not work on your standard set of batteries (alkaline) because of the large screen and other reasons. I only receive a couple of shots from the batteries, then they die. Also you will be unable to use a view finder because there ISNT one. This means there is no option to save the batteries using a view finder.

DO NOT BUY THIS CAMERA.

[+] 2.0 Run don't Walk away from this camera
Run fast, Run far. This camera doesn't want to operate on any batteries. On FE-310 # 2 so far in two months and the same problem. Tech support advises not to use alkaline batteries(which in fact come with the camera). Told to use NiMH batteries - NADA. Spent about $50 on batteries and chargers. They also gave me "Olympus" rechargeable batteries - still NADA. Sending camera # 2 back to them - hopefully to get a refund.

[+] 4.0 ok
I do not say the product is not good. Just I do not like it because it is too thick in shape and I do not like to change batteries too much.

[+] 2.0 Won't Work With Rechargable Batteries
Don't buy this camera!!! It will NOT work with NiMH batteries (the manual says it will work with NiMH) and it doesn't fully discharge alkaline batteries. I only got about 50 pictures on the included set of alkaline batteries.

I also didn't think that the pictures were all that sharp, for a 8MP camera. The shutter response is very slow and the face recognition doesn't work until the face fills a large part of the screen.

Overall this is a poor camera.

[+] 8.0 Good Buy
I purchased the FE-310 and think it is a good buy for the money. I am still learning how to use all the controls.

[+] 6.0 You get what you pay for ...
Three stars is generous for this camera and deserved only for its portability and price. I took the FE-310 to my 30-year reunion, and it was the only disappointment of the evening. In low light, it took only mediocre photos. I tried every setting and couldn't get photos I thought were worthy of an 8 megapixel camera. All the portraits had red eye that had to be edited out afterward. Many photos were out of focus. I still kept the camera for a month, taking photos in different settings, indoors and outdoors, and still I felt the photos should have been better for an 8 megapixel camera. I returned it and got my money back. This camera would make a good gift for a child or for someone who just wants easy snapshots without much regard for resolution. As a $100 camera, it suits that purpose just fine.

[+] 8.0 Not a bad little camera
After searching and searching, and searching for a digital camera online, I decided on this one b/c it was a high MP and a fairly low price. It did take nice pictures, but I was bummed about having to get the special Olympus cards which are quite a bit more than what you can get a regular SD card for most anywhere. I'm still learning how to best use all the different settings it has. The fireworks setting worked great this 4th of July except when my hand was a little shaky! :)

Small enough to slide into a pocket or purse without noticing a lot of weight added. Overall, not a bad little camera.

[+] 2.0 OLYMPUS FE-310
DID NOT LIKE THIS CAMERA. HAD A FEW PROBLEMS WITH IT. MOSTLY IT WOULD KILL BATTERIES VERY FAST(OR IT WOULD SAY BATTERIES EMPTY).IF YOU TOOK THE BATTERIES OUT AND PUT THEM BACK IT WOULD BE ALRIGHT FOR A WHILE BUT THEN IT WOULD START AGAIN. IT TOOK GREAT PIC'S BUT I WAS ALWAYS HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE BATTERIES. I TRIED A FEW DIFFRENT TYPES BUT NOTHING SEEM TO WORK. I SENT THE CAMERA BACK AND THEY SENT ME A REPLACEMENT AND THAT ONE HAD THE SAME PROBLEMS. DO NOT BUY THIS CAMERA.

[+] 10.0 A Wonderful Camera!
My son writes this review:
I got this camera for my birthday and it is wonderful. The x5 zoom is extremely good. I took a picture of a ship that was between 1/4 to 1/2 of a mile away and the picture looked like I took it from a few yards away.
I do recommend getting the 2GB chip for the camera. I get about 870 pictures and half an hour of video with the chip.
The only bad thing that bugs me is that the camera gulps down battery juice so I think that carrying at least 2 extra pairs of batteries is good.
In all, this camera is wonderful!!!
Using Lithium batterys really works if you don't use the camera all the time. I put some in and I've used them for a week and the battery life icon says it's still full.
