An excellent pedometer
I've had this pedometer for a couple months now and have worn it every day (usually in my pocket) and really like it. It has motivated me to get more steps each day. It is much more accurate than cheaper pedometers that I have tried in the past. I like the aerobic step feature, the safety catch and the 7-day memory. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because the face is quite easy to scratch. Just be careful not to carry anything sharp like keys in the same pocket.

Great Pedometer for Walking
My wife bought this for me after our mechanical one died, and I really like it as it shows the distance walked in steps and miles, the calories burned, and the aerobic steps and distance. It also has a memory that shows the last seven days values for all of the above.
The only weak point is that the safety clip, which is very necessary, as the pedometer is easy to drop from your belt, is virtually unusable, as it is very small and hard to clip to anything. I modified mine with a clip from a nametag and it works just great. You will have lots of fun with it!
I found this pedometer easy to use and accurate. The only reason I give 4 stars is because it is not possible to turn it off

Count those steps!
In the interest of good health, (10,000 steps a day), and a healthy dose of curiosity about how many steps I am currently walking daily, I researched different types of pedometers. Those I had tried in the past from the drug store and a then a sporting goods store "kept resetting themselves", no doubt some movement of mine or brush by something; but, this rendered them useless. I ordered the Omron. The supplier must be close, as it was here in less than 24 hours. Better yet, it works well, has not reset itself once or lost my daily count, and has a safety strap and clasp to assure that you don't lose it if it comes detached with a bump. My only reservation is that it does not count the myriad single steps you take, like in the kitchen, but only begins counting after 4 seconds of walking. For all the information received and stored, its cost was reasonable.

Awesome Product.....Love it!
Purchased this item over a month ago, and have been using it daily since then. I wore it on my waistband for a few days, but found it to be awkward, and it fell off a few times when I would bend over...also I have small children that are always pulling on me, and they love to press the buttons and reset the pedometer mid-day. My solution was to clip it to the center of my bra. I completely forget it's there, and it never falls off. I walk the same 8 mile route each morning, and my steps always calculate basically the same so I know it's accurate. This is a great item for weight loss, because it makes you very conscious of exactly how much exercise you're getting during the day. This was a great purchase!

Another Modern Marvel
This precision device, accurately measures only one thing directly: the total number of steps taken. Although, based on your entered weight and stride length, it also calculates the approximate calories burned, the number of "aerobic" steps taken, and distance walked. Furthermore, the meter resets at midnight, and keeps a 7 day log of all this information.
Granted that all variables are calculated (except total number of steps taken, By nature, they are not precise, and cannot be expected to be so. However, this is merely a limitation of physics and mathematics, not a problem with the pedometer itself.
I have owned it for about two weeks, and tested it in my twice daily walk up to a local park, with a known round trip distance of 2.8 miles. This meter consistently comes pretty close to this number with every walk. It calculates, based on one's weight (which, for me, is neatly coming down), thanks to the motivational factor that this device provides.
Omron is a trusted brand name for medical devices. I have owned an Omron spghymomaneter (blood pressure meter), that has served me well for years, giving accurate pulse and blood pressures.
Other reviews are correct that the belt clip is not reliable. I suggest attaching a safety pin through the cord, and clipping it to your shorts, sweats, or clothing. Make it un-loseable this way, or you will probably eventually lose it.
Conclusion: if you are serious about a walking exercise program, this is an extremely useful and low cost investment. Highly recommended, especially for diabetics those wishing to add exercise to the formula for lowering cardiovascular and stroke risk.
I have tried several pedometers over the last couple of years. I found this one to be easy to program and use. The numbers are big enough it can be read easily without my glasses. I have tested against other machines to see the accuracy of my numbers and found it to be right on the mark. I loved it so much I have bought one for my walking partner!

A Great Pedometer
This is the second pedometer I've owned, and I love it. It does have some tiny flaws, but then nothing is perfect. What I like about this is:
- keeps track of steps whether clipped to one's waist, in one's pocket, or even in one's purse. What a fabulous feature! I usually keep it in a pocket, though I have kept it in my purse on occasion. I've tried clipping it to my waistband, but it doesn't seem to work as well there.
- tracks steps, aeorbic steps, miles, and calories burned. I've found the miles walked an especially nice feature as I am training towards 5K and eventually towards half-marathons.
- the easy to read large read is great for those of whose eye-sight is not what it once used to be.
- the 7 day memory is great for keeping track of progress over the past few days of what/how I've done.
This pedometer has so impressed me, I've bought one for my boyfriend, and will soon be buying one for my mother. I just think it's great, and the price is pretty on the wallet as well.
This is the best Pedometer that I've ever owned. Very accurate and easy to use. The safety strap is a lifesaver and has kept me from losing the pedometer many times. I've been using the pedometer to achieve a 10,000 step goal and wear it all the time. I highly recommend it and have purchased 2 more for gifts for my walking friends.
The Omron Digital Pedometer is the best I have ever had. It is accurate, easy to read and easy to wear. It is a great value....
I checked the rating on various pedometers before I purchased. This one had a very good rating. Problems I have had with it are:
1. Very uncomfortable attached to waistband because it is so tall. It is fine to put in my pocket, but I don't always have pockets. It will come out of the holder when attached to waistband.
2. It will reset itself just by being bumped??? Also, the 2 readings for steps are misleading - did I walk a total of the 2 step readings? - is the step reading on the #2 register also included in the step register #1?
3. Being in my pocket, I am not sure how accurate the reading is. I need to test it.

I have purchased 3 of the pedometer at different times.
(2 for me and one as a gift for my daughter.)
It is a fantastic tool. It is easy to use, accurate.
The only negative is that it is not waterproof.
The first one I used survived a short dip in a pool but the following day I accidently submerged it in the Caribbean Sea for more than 5 minutes. It did not survive the saltwater swim.
I immediately purchased my second one and so far I have avoided submerging it.
I highly this product!

Accurate and easy to use...
I have used a step counter on and off for several years. I love this one! I use it just to count the number of steps I take each day. It resets itself at midnight, so I don't have to remember. I can put it in my pants pocket, so I don't have to fuss with a silly clip that never stays put. I was worried that the reset button would accidentally be pushed in my pocket, but it hasn't. The resent button is small and reccessed (needs a paperclip end to push it in). The mode button is occassionally pushed accidentally, but this does not affect the gatherng of data. I have tested it several times and it seems accurate within a few steps each time. It does not count vibration as steps, so I don't get off the motorcycle to find that I've been "walking" while riding. It says that it is not accurate for sports other than walking; I've not tested this out (other than motorcycle and dirt-bike riding).
It has some functions that I do not use. You can put in your stride length and it will tell you how many miles you have walked. Because my stride varies, depending on the terrain and situation, I have never considered this to be very accurate, so I ignore it. It will also compute calories, but then you have to multiply the number it gives you by something else manually. Again, I find this not to be an accuate way to guage calories burned, so I ignore it. It also tells you how many of your steps were "aerobic." The criteria used for aeorobic is moving more than 10 minutes without more than a minute rest and walking at least 60 steps per minute. Interesting, but not particularly motivating for me. It also comes with a clipped holster to attach to your waistband or belt. I don't use this; I find the pocket method to be much more secure. Supposedly you can also keep it in your purse and it will be accurate, but I have not tested this out yet.
The only thing that would make this better for me is if it were waterproof (I use a ziplock sandwich bag on rainy days)and if it were thinner (still makes less of a bulge in my pocket than my cell phone).
If I were to somehow lose or destroy this tomorrow, I would promptly buy another.
I've used a lot of pedometers and most of them have had either limited lifespans, inaccuracies or both. I have counted hundreds of steps on this pedometer and it's always accurate within 1-2 steps. I love the fact that it has a clip to attach to my belt so it doesn't fall and get lost. Bought one for my husband and we both have walked more knowing steps are counted!! My goal is 10,000 steps/day and this has helped up my average tremendously.
Only complaint would be I'd like it a bit smaller so it didn't bulge on my belt, but that's a minor complaint. In short, I LOVE IT!!
I've had several pedomoeters, all of which were totally inaccurate. The Omron is the best I have had, to date. It's not difficult to set (if you have used other digital gadgets) and it's fun to wear. Gives you lots of information, too!

great little pedometer
I really like this pedometer. It's small but has good functionality:
* resets itself at midnight - but keeps a history of your steps
* tracks steps, aerobic steps, calories burned and miles
A great little pedometer for a good price
I read most of the reviews of this item before purchasing the HJ-112 Pedomenter. The pedometer lives up to the good reviews. Setup was easy, displays are easy to read and the unit fastens to your clothes easily and stays put. You don't even know the unit is attached when walking. Very happy with the performance.
HANDY AND ACCURATE DEVICE. THE STRING AND CLIP MAKE IT EASY TO CARRY ESPECIALLY WHEN THE PANTS YOU'RE WEARING DON'T HAVE POCKETS.
I bought the omron pedometer for my husband and myself last Valentine's day, (for our hearts, don'tcha know.) It has been a fine investment and we have been very pleased with the ease of operation (it works IN your pocket, which means it's harder to lose or fall in the toilet, it resets its own self at midnight.) I have since bought 3 more for my son, mom, and sister. I am about to buy 5 more for gifts.
I really love this pedometer. The best one I have purchased. Easy to use, love that I don't have to hang it from my waist.
Well worth the price. Also Omron is a good product.
I have and will recommend this pedometer to family and friends.
I've been searching for a pedometer that is as awesome as this one for years!
Features I love the best:
* works in a purse/pocket as well as on your hip
* Large readout, easy to read
* auto calculates mileage
* Stores a week's worth of step days, so if you forget to write one down it's easy to go back.
* super easy to program!
I've had mine for 6 months and the batter is still going strong.
My daughter and I both got one of these. It's so fun to see how many steps you actually take in a normal day! It's been fun to use! It even shows you how many calories you are burning. We love it! Now my hubby wants one!

It's big, but great
According to Dr. Oz and You: Staying Young: The Owner's Manual for Extending Your Warranty (You), walking 30 minutes a day is a critical aspect of taking care of your body as well as working up to 10,000 steps a day ... so this was one of several products I purchased I as I implemented the Staying Young program.
This pedometer is much larger than any other pedometer I've owned (I've had a few over the years) and I don't particularly care for the size, but it wallops a great punch of features that have made it worthwhile ...
1. This is the easiest one ever to set-up, read, review, etc.
2. It can tell when you're 'walking around' versus 'really walking' -- It tracks all your steps regardless of intensity but it also and tracks a second category as aerobic steps (you just hit the lowest middle 'mode' button to read this subset information). It also tells you distance and calories burned.
3. It resets itself to 0 every morning and has a seven day memory.
4. The belt clip that comes with it is secure and easy to use.
If you are making a commitment to better health and it involves a walking program of any kind, I think this would be a great enhancement to your commitment and success.
Bon Appetit!

Terrific pedometer - easy to use
I bought this pedometer a couple of years ago when I got serious about exercising. It is small and easy to carry. It works equally well whether clipped on or carried in a pocket. (I did several spot checks to ensure consistency / accuracy.)

Over Counts Steps and BiG
I bought this based on all of the positive reviews. I liked the idea of being able to put this in my purse or pocket and walk. I was dissapointed.
It was very big. There is a clip on the back of it but if you clip it to your pants to log your steps be prepared for it to fall off. The clip is located in such a place that it makes it top heavy and the clip can't hold it on to what you put it on.
It over counted steps. By a lot. Several reviewers have mentioned this. I tested it against myself counting and against another pedometer I have and this one had more steps logged every time. Sometimes the difference was in the 100's that it had over counted. When I bought a new/better pedometer it too came in lower than the steps this one counted. IF you want an accurate count- don't get this one. If you want a boost in steps you have walked- this one might work for you.
There were other things that I found that I didn't like about this one. Several times buttons were pushed when I had this in my pocket. The buttons were not set low enough in to keep them from being pushed.
What a huge dissapointment. I would not have bought this pedometer had I known these things. Read the other five star reviews carefully and you will find they too had problems with this thing; they just felt the pros outweighed the cons.
This device is great. It is very accurate. As long as you input your correct weight and stride length, it will accurately calculate your distance in miles walked, your calories burned and correctly sense more intense (aerobic) steps. The seven day memory, however, only keeps track of total steps for that day.

YOU MUST GET ONE!
I had tried cheaper pedometers, but I would wear them all day just to find out they weren't recording my steps accurately. I stopped trying. When I read some reviews (years later) I heard that by spending a little more you could get very good pedometers that actually work! I researched and read recommendations and decided on the Omron. I only wanted a simple pedometer that would give me accurate information. This one is GREAT! You can put it in your pocket, on your purse, or clip it on your body anywhere and it records.
Since I bought this, I have lost 6 lbs (I'm only 5'3"), just by trying to get that number to read 10,000 or more steps per day!! I teach aerobics classes, so I wear it during my class (which accounts for 4-5K of my daily steps) and then I have to stay active the rest of the day to get all my steps in. It's not as easy as you would think to get the 10K per day! You need the real data to know how active/non-active you really are.
I purchased 15 more of these to give to family members and to my clients to use. They all love theirs, too! You can't go wrong by purchasing the Omron pedometer.
First the good: Setting up the HJ-112 is easy. The displays are clear and easy to read. Steps and distances are accurately measured. I suppose the calorie counter is accurate but I don't have any way to confirm its accuracy.
Next cons: The belt/pant clip is really, really worthless. You must us the safety cord and clip or you will loose the meter. The display is always on; it can't be turned off so the battery is always draining. It would be nice if the display turned itself off after a certain amount of inacitivity to conserve the battery. The meter does not calculate your speed. You can do it yourself if you really want to, the data is supplied by the meter. Distance is measured only in miles; You can't switch between miles and kilometers.
Bottom line: it's a competent pedometer; few bells and whistles; very easy to loose if you're not careful.
The pedometer came in quicker than expected and works perfectly. I am very happy with it and the service I received from the seller. It was a gift for someone and that made it even more important to get it right the first time.
In short, I am a very happy camper!

Convenient way to track my activity through the day
I really like having a pedometer that I can carry in my pocket (or my purse if needed). I also find the "aerobic" step/time count very helpful. I bought one of these for my mom; she showed it to my brother and his wife, and they want their own now!
I have had this pedometer for about a month and I really like it! I haven't accessed all it's functions, but really like the challenge of trying to beat the previous days steps! The safety strap is a must, without it I would have already broken it or lost it in the toilet by now! It does fall off my hip periodically, but no big deal because the safety strap catches it. There has been a few times I have accidentally erased my steps by leaning against something or adusting it for comfort...that's a real dissappointment. I wish they had a hard plastic cover over the buttons to prevent that. All in all a great investment into better health and fitness! I noticed my highest score was when we were shopping in the mall one evening! A great place to walk!
The product works great. The ability to place the pedometer in a pocket and not clipped to a belt is worth the few extra dollars it cost. Once I set my stride length using a treadmill I found it to be very accurate in not only the steps taken, but the distrance traveled. On the negative side the unit seems a little larger than it needs to be.

Everything they promise ... BUT...
This is in fact a wonderful little podometer which does deliver everything they say it does. The problem is that it is SO SENSITIVE that if you're riding a car and the road isn't PERFECTLY smoothe, it will register the vibrations as steps!! If it had an on/off switch or a PAUSE BUTTON to turn it off and stop counting steps whenever you're on any motorized vehicle it would be THE perfect podometer.
This is my first and only podometer and I don't know if this happens with all. I'm guessing it won't happen with the ones that have to be placed on your belt. If they can't register steps while in your pocket, I suppose they won't register other vibrations either.

Omron HJ-112 pedometer
This is the 2nd pedometer like this I've had. I misplaced my first one, but when I decided to reorder, there was no question this was the one I wanted again! I've had a few other pedometers, but they didn't come close to comparing in accuracy and number of features for the amount of money spent. The memory feature to review the last 7 days is very nice, as well as being able to review the aerobic steps I've taken and time spent in the aerobic walking. The safety strap has kept me from losing it countless times! Wearing a pedometer often motivates me to walk just a little more to get to the next level, such as if I'm already at 9700 steps, what's 300 more to get to 10,000! If I'm just working around the house, it's not always the most accurate, but when I am out walking from one place to another, I've counted my steps and it's never more than a few steps off my count. Instructions for setting it up are very clear and the set up is not complicated at all. I highly recommend this for anyone that is wanting to keep track of their steps/milage.

I am very pleased with the versatility of the Omron HJ-112 pedometer I purchased about a month ago. It's light as a feather, can go in any pocket, and I take it everywhere to see if I am getting the walking exercise I need each day. It was easy to calibrate to my stride length and enter my weight, so the distance measurements are pretty accurate and I imagine the calorie count is good too. Excelent HW, good software, but...
Should be better.
The cons:
- Only understand miles (inches, feet and pounds). There no metrical system option... No meter, no kilometer, no Kg...
- Dont have a "freeze" option. After a jogging, some time I want to freeze the result, until I arrive home to put it in the computer... No way... they will increase strides...
- The battery duration is short, only six months. And you loose you configuration... I recomend that you take note of your configurations befores change battery...
The pros.
- Excellent accuracy.
- As a simple pedometer is perfect.
- A week record memory.
After all, I recomend it, because now I have freedom of choices to jogging in any place, and I ever knows the total distance, in kilometers after consulting one converter table. :-)

Nifty pocket Pedometer
This small, lightweight pedometer is easy to use, durable and fun. I "wear" it nearly every day unless it is on loan for someone else to try to achieve the 10,000 step goal. I have a couple of other pedometers that I have never used because they are complicated to set and are worn on a belt.
My only complaint is that I had fraudulent activity on my credit card immediately after this purchase...
I really like this pedometer. It does everything it claims.
Well worth the price. I've bought cheaper and more expensive ones that did not work as well.
I have had several different (cheap) pedometers and finally decided to be serious about my walking and spend the money for a good one. Well worth the price! I love that each morning it has cleared itself to start over but has a 7 day memory. Easy to use, love the security clip as I dropped some others. I have bought a few more for Christmas presents for walking friends.
