I've really enjoyed my palm pilot, it really has been so useful with my doctor appointments, etc. I'm really happy I bought. G Minor

This is my second Z22. I guess I dropped the first one once too often (oops!). This one came with a silicone case to protect it from my lack of dexterity. Seriously, I like this product. It's easy to use and very versatile. Hopefully I won't need to buy a third one!

[+] 10.0 Expensive
I had one of these PDA's and lost it. I wanted to replace it and looked it up on your site. When I saw the price I almost fainted. I live in Panama and decided to go shopping here. I got one for 90.00 + sales tax. That included the cables, the stylus, and the plastic protector. Why is it so much more expensive on the internet?

[+] 10.0 Super for keeping you organized!!!
I love, love, love my Z22! I just needed a basic PDA that would keep track of my schedule, contact info, etc. The Z22 is perfect for that! I can make to do lists and check things off as I complete them. I can keep track of addresses, phone numbers, birthdays, and any other information that I need to remember but usually forget. With two children, our schedule can get pretty crazy. In the calendar, you can assign different colors to different people (or however you want to assign them) and with just a quick glance at your calendar, you know who has something scheduled on a certain day. With the Mobile DB program that comes with the Z22, you can make all kinds of lists (it comes with a lot of lists--some that I use and some that I don't). I have a list to keep track of my baby's milestones and one to keep track of things I have loaned out to people. It's a really neat program and you can customize each list to meet your needs. The Z22 also comes with the SplashShopper program, which has different lists, but I use it mostly for the grocery list. It has loads of items pre-programmed in, and you can add your own. You check things off to add them to your "Need" list and then you check them off as you pick them up at the store. It can track prices at multiple stores and it also has a place to check if you have a coupon (so you don't forget it)! You can also beam your shopping list to someone else.

I have not yet had any problems with my Z22 and I've had it for a couple of months. My ONLY complaint so far is that the alarm is not loud enough for me to hear it unless I have it right by me. Other than that, I am very satisfied and would recommend this product to anyone who just wants to get organized!

[+] 2.0 Save your money for something better!
I got the Palm Z22 as a gift. I can only say "THANK GOD I DIDN'T WASTE MY MONEY ON IT" I have Windows Vista 64 bit and Palm OS does not work with the 64 only the 32. I spent wasted hours trying to find a solution to the problem, to no avail! Palm does warn you it will not work....but in the super fine print! If you go to the Palm website, it tells you that no program to come to work with the 64.

[+] 10.0 Best Basic PDA Anywhere
You will not find a better basic no-frills PDA anywhere! I use mine all the time for scheduling, notes, contacts, and to read ebooks and text files. I don't even carry a paper Bible to Church any more. Everything I need is in my Z22. There are tons of great programs that add to the functionality of the Z22. One possible issue to be aware of is that it took about a week for my eyes to adjust to the screen resolution. After that there where no issues. I would recommend this PDA to anyone who wants to basically manage time and contacts along with the ability to read ebooks and text information. If you need Wi-Fi or Blue Tooth go with the Palm TX. I am at an expert level with computers and also manage a network for my job and this PDA still is very very functional for me.

I have used Palm products before & liked them (E2 and VIIx). this product - z22 is terrible. the stylus didn't work, and had to be used almost like a hammer to have a running chance of it working. [+] 10.0 Perfect for ADHD!
With my ADHD, all I need is something to keep track of my To Do list, appointments, kids' homework deadlines & club meetings, etc., and this is PERFECT! I love being able to set my own reminders & priorities, look at my calendar at a glance, keep my contacts all in one place, have a backup file on my laptop.

I've had mine for 6 months & have never had a single problem with it. Nope, not one - believe me, with ADHD, I AM VERY HARD ON EVERYTHING! It was a great buy at $[...], and I'd highly recommend it to anyone.

[+] 10.0 Man's new best friend
I personally have used the Palm Z22 since it first came out and it is still the premier PDA. With everyone looking to upgrade to the fanciest electronic they can get their hands on, the Z22 maintains a conservative flair for those who purchase the product for its primary purpose; To keep all important dates and contact information for personal or business needs. Bubba's Books has a Palm Z22 listed as the cheapest on the amazon website at amazon.com/shops/bubbasbooksnow

[+] 10.0 Refurbished Zire 22 -- excellent value
The Palm Zire 22 is a simple PDA. Small, light weight, good battery life, runs the standard Palm desktop software. If you don't need WiFi, Bluetooth or cell phone capabilities this is the one you want. This refurbished unit seems to be as good as a new one, at a much lower price.

[+] 4.0 This Palm started great and recently got problems.
This palm kept track of many things very well. The main problem I had is it not hot-syncing at all. I got that fixed (I'm not sure how), and managed to fill it up to overflowing, apparently. When I went to the "main menu" with all the program icons, it just went to a white screen and never recovered. I pushed the reset button on the back, and it did fine, until I went back to the main menu, and it froze again. Occasionally it gets jagged lines across the screen. It is not damaged physically that I can tell, but I think the memory inside has been scrambled somehow, so it only partly works.

Generally speaking, you're going to want one with an add-on memory card. This device fills up too easily, and then does not operate correctly after that. At least, this is what happened to mine.

[+] 4.0 One problem
I've had this Palm unit about 6 months. It works well but the battery doesn't hold much of a charge, nowhere near what it is supposed to. From what I can see from other reviews, a certain percentage of these Palms ship with problems and the support is not very good. Looks like I got one with a bad battery. Now the question is will it be worth my time and energy to try to figure out how to replace it?

[+] 8.0 Only One Complaint For An Otherwise Great Product
I needed a simple PDA that would let me keep track of my work schedule, but would fit in a small purse (my appointment book was too big/bulky/heavy, etc.). I didn't need a cell phone, or an MP3 player, or something that would let me access the Internet. I just needed a small, electronic calendar. And, for that, this is perfect. Easy to reference, I can get to the calendar feature easily, and, in general, I'm very happy with my purchase.

My only problem so far seems to be a popular one (from reading other reviews): I was entering information manually, when suddenly the stylus had no effect on the screen. None of the buttons worked, including the on/off button. I used the stylus to press the reset button on the back, and it started working again fine, with none of the information I'd entered missing. I've had the product for a month, and it's happened about five times. An inconvenience, sure, but relatively minor, considering none of my information was deleted. It's the only reason I've not giving the product 5 stars.

[+] 8.0 Preety good product
The Z22 from palm is working well for me. I mostly need it as an address book, and it seems pretty good. Downloads to or from the computer are fine. Occasionally hitting some of the icons on the palm with the stylus do not work immediately, which can be a bit frustrating, but overall I'm pleased with the product.

[+] 4.0 Very Dissapointed
I was given this palm in July of 2006 as a gift and I absolutely loved it until it started locking up on me. The battery finally quit after a little over two years of use.
After checking out the Palm help forum and discovering that the Z22 is only expected to last 1-3 years I guess I should consider myself lucky.

Apparently it's more expensive to repair a unit than buy a new one. Very frustrating considering I had gotten to the point where I would use it every Day. I would not recommend buying this unless you don't mind shelling out 99.00 every two years.

[+] 2.0 Terrible PDA
My Palm would not register because I have a high speed modem not a telephone modem. It would not draw letters or numbers as instructed with a stylus and though it speaks of a keyboard i could find none either on the device itself or its technical manual. Its technical manual has no information only advertising. When attempting to sync with my Mac it erases all addresses and appointments. In other words it fails in every way possible. It is by far the worst electronic equipment I have ever owned. I have owned Palm's in the past because they are supposed to work with a Mac and had no problems. But this Palm has convinced me never to buy from the company again.

[+] 10.0 My new Palm
This was everything I wanted in a new Palm Pilot. The Z22 is great and I found it at a great price thru amazon.com. The whole experience of looking for what I wanted, finding what I wanted and then found it at a great price, was nice. Too bad everything in life doesn't go as smoothly.

I checked [...] and [...] and couldn't find the Z22 at a decent price. As usual, I found it at amazon.com. From now on, I'll just save myself the time and trouble of looking around and come right to your website.

[+] 2.0 An exercise in frustration
My PDA is stuck on the calibration screen. I Googled this problem and it appears to be common. If you are unfortunate enough to encounter this you will have the following choices: (1) keep tapping the calibration icon until you lose your mind, (2) throw your PDA into the nearest body of water, (3) sell your PDA on Ebay, or (4) call customer service, get put on hold, and continue to tap the icon while weeping. You don't need a PDA anyway. Avoid this purchase!

[+] 2.0 This does not work with Vista!!!
Palm claims on their website that the Z22 is compatible with Vista. It is NOT!!! When you plug the Z22 into the computer, Vista tries to find drivers and cannot--neither can Palm Support! They say they "are working on it." That's simply unacceptable when they claim that it's compatible. We received the Z22 today, and we are returning it tomorrow!!! Don't waste your time buying this item if you have Vista.

[+] 2.0 Risky purchase. Defective manufacturing
My first Z22 had a software problem out of the box. After several calls to tech support, they sent me a replacement. The replacement stopped working (didn't turn on) in about 3-4 weeks. I conclude that the manufacturing facility in China (this IS made in China) is producing defective Z22s. Buy at your own risk. After my second Z22 stopped working, I went back to paper. Less risky.

[+] 10.0 Better Than Expected
When I bought this entry level palm 2 1/2 years ago, I thought I would use it for a while and then move up to another more expensive model. I never have. It works great. It has had very few problems, and nothing that couldn't be fixed with a reset. When it does reset, it saves all my information anyway and only asks to reset the time. It charges in full in a short time with the wall plug, and I do that but once a week. It backs up to my laptop and syncs with my Microsoft Outlook. I bought the hard case, which has saved it from many falls. I also purchased the splash shopper and I love it. I have my grocery list on me at all times, and save a lot of time by not having to run home for it. When I am stuck sitting around, I play solitaire. I had no idea of the life expectancy of this product, but it has served me well.

[+] 8.0 .......deceived??????
I feel that perhaps I was deceived into buying my palm.......while I didn't want a used one........I fell for the statement 'still in new packaging'......wouldn't you sense that it was new??? Well, when I receive the devise I was unable to Sync with my computer because my name would not work..........there was another name already in there as the owner.....that certainly told me that someone has used it at sometime.......granted the Palm appeared in very good condition.......but I had to pay my computer man to come and figure out how to get rid of "LEEGOFF"......it took an hour and half to get rid of "LEEGOFF"!! and cost me $60......should have just gone Staples and bought one really new....would have been better off from the start.........Palm instructions for this problem were nil..........My advise with Amazon.Com, be leary of 'new vs. used'......Virginia Miller, Ohio PS. Now that my Palm is in sync with my computer.....I really like it and it serves my purposes....

I am an OLD lady of 57- not too tech savvy & very happy with my new PDA. It was easy to install on my computer (did not even have to call my son) & was able to sync with the info from my old unit that just died last week. The battery is lasting much longer than my old one did. I am trying to download some photos- haven't figured that out yet, but hope to figure it out--may need the assistance of someone under 20!

[+] 6.0 Palm review
I like the palm but the software from desktop has a lot to be desired. I have new computer with Vista and have spent 10 hours( 3 sessions) online with Palm trying to get the Explorer address book to sync. After 20 years of computer use, This is not a novice comment. A open a new second User Administrator had to be made for it to work. It is bearly tolerable to have to transfer the Explorer information from one User to the other to sync with the palm. After only doing it once, I plan to do this every six months but this is a terrible chore. There is no choice if I want addresses on a storage device. My calander items will not be usable.

[+] 10.0 Exactly what I wanted
I needed a replacement for a 6yr old PDA and this fits the bill exactly. I'm not interested in a combo phone/PDA/MP3 player/email. I don't want to access the web on a handheld just yet. I need to be able to organize my day efficiently and have every conceivable note at hand. Anything I want to look up beyond the standard address book, I put into a memo here. I even have a complete catalog of my knitting needles. Saves me from standing in the yarn shop trying to remember what I have at home. All my airline membership nbrs and those of my family are in here. I love the compact size, that it fits so nicely into my purse.

[+] 2.0 Palm
This product sucks. The internal re-chargable battery needs to be charged frequently. Recently it died now it won't sink to the data from my PC.

Buy something else. My wife has an older Palm model and she doesn't need to charge it nearly as much.

Why they didn't make it to accept dry cell batteries I'll never know.
Sorry Palm you used to make good products. Maybe you should consider making them in the USA and not from "You know where"

[+] 2.0 Should have listened to the other reviews
There are quite a bit of reviews which state how this thing fails after a short period. I have bought several palmpilots over the years ranging from under $100 to over $500. I'm tired of them dying. The Z22 died on me within 2 months. I didn't drop it or anything. The screen just went blank one day and never came back. Last year a bought a cheap palm pilot for about $25 and I could not be happier. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles, but it keeps lists, has a phone book, and has alarms. I realized it's all I need.

[+] 10.0 Perfectly satisfactory.
When I was working, all my business was conducted in front of a computer -desktop at work or home office, or at a VPN-connected laptop. I had no real use for a PDA.

Now I'm retired, very active in volunteer work, and often in circumstances where I have no laptop or desktop, and so am without my calendar. My wife said now that I'm mobile, I need a mobile calendar.

So I went shopping for a calendar that could fit my shirt pocket, sync with my Outlook calendar, and replace the 3x5 cards it would be displacing in my pocket. I ended up buying the Palm Z22, and am perfectly satisfied so far.

I received it the day before a 4-day "business" trip. The little thing is easy enough to learn that I was able to load the Z22 calendar from my desktop Outlook, make new appointments on the road, write memos and notes, and then resync with the desktop when I got back, without doing any heavy-duty training or manual reading. The included onboard "Quick Tour" showed me everything I needed to know to make the Z22 useful.

I bought the 3235WW Air Case for the Z22. Unlike many, I have no problem opening it. I don't know whether the mold changed, QA inmproved, or I'm just lucky. There also seems to be no problem with stylus registration or wavering. Also, no problem with Vista: having been alerted by previous reviewers, I downloaded the current version of the Palm Desktop, installed it, and everything is fine.

I bought 2 sets of extra styluses (styli?) just because. Eventually I'll train myself so the Z22 can read my writing unerringly, but so far it does a better job of that than I do. I will also probably by an extra set of screen protectors.

I make appointments on the run without having to say "let me call you when I can check my calendar." I did away with my pocket full of notecards and now take notes I can transfer directly to my computer without transcribing. As a bonus, I have a contact list and task list that are synced to my desktop / laptop, a syncable expense record (for tax-deductible in-kind contributions), and a calculator that takes no extra pocket space.

Someday I may want a PDA that is an internet capable SmartPhone with USB infrared blue teeth, WiFi, GPS, foldout or virtual keyboard, remote TV controls, video camera, virtual display screen, heart rate monitor and calorie burn rate counter, Dance Revolution, home entertainment center and blender and espresso maker.

OTOH, I might end up with a pocket of 3x5 cards again.

But for now, the Z22 does what I got it for, a little bit more, and is not loaded with stuff I don't need and is easy to learn. Perfect for my first PDA. Tag me well pleased.

[+] 10.0 Clean and well made Palm Pilot of 2008
I used a Handspring Visor 8Mb cheapie for years and loved it. This little beauty is 4 times larger with 32MB of memory. Beautiful color screen. Operates just like like old Visor. Perfect. Recharging batteries is easy, just plug it in. I synced my old memos and contacts and I'm off to the races without skipping a beat. It's very light as well. Much lighter than my old Visor in my shirt pocket. Don't try to use the Documents ToGo software because with only 32MB of memory, just a few pictures will fill up all your memory. Damn.
I wish I could add 4GB of SD flash memory to it but I cannot. 32MB vs 4,000 MB remember? Oh well, I knew it before I bought it. I works great for my Contacts and memos which hold everything I know or ever have known. My son said "that's sad, Daddy." I said "Why?" He replied "Because it's only 32Meg" Bang, he got me. Love my Z22. Get one. Only $99.

[+] 2.0 Incompatible
Nice little unit with all the capabilities I required but never could get it to sync properly with Windows XP Professional and Outlook 2007. Palm's phone support was pitiful and despite applying every download available on Palm's support pages, the unit would never sync. So, I returned it. The issue probably starts with Microsoft who wants to sell their own mobile OS, but Palm needs to overcome that hurdle. Consumers don't have the time, patience or desire to fight the compatibility curve.

[+] 10.0 Perfect eReader device even if you have low vision.
I bought this palm Z22 mainly for reading .pdb format ebooks. It is very light weight and has 4 different settings for font size and/or bold, not bold. I use reverse video and the eReader program provides that as "Inverse" screen. Using the "midnight" color theme for the device makes the whole device reverse video, accept for some of the individual programs.

I can even play solitare with visual ease. I do not like the other programs, Calendar, only because using the virtual keyboard is tedious. But for the reason I got this device it is absolutely perfect for my needs.

You can even program several of the buttons to do other tasks, if you choose.

If you need internet access, you should buy the next level up in a hand held, or a smart phone.

[+] 10.0 Exactly what I wanted
I thought I could live without an organizer when my old Clie finally gave up 6 months ago but I was wrong. I change my cell phone often so wanted a stand alone organizer and this one is exactly what I needed. The interface is easy to use and the color screen is big enough. It's about the size of a deck of cards to fits easily in my purse.

The only problem I had was with setting it up on my PC. The included PC software installed easily. I entered some addresses into the PC and then tried to synch with the Palm. It SEEMED happy and said it was synched but when I checked the Palm none of the info had been transferred. I had to do some digging but found that the included software doesn't work with VISTA. I downloaded an update from Palm's site and now everything works. I would recommend the Z22 to someone who wants a nice organizer without the more expensive bells and whistles.

[+] 2.0 stops turing on
I ordered a Palm Z22 in April. I was not overly impressed but it did suit my needs. Barely a month of owning it, it quit working. I could not get it to turn on. Someone else that had one said she had a similar problem in that it stopped working (coming on) as well. She left her palm on her dresser for a few months. One day while she was cleaning up she came across her Z22. She was about to throw it out but decided to try it one more time and it came on. She finally gave up on it when it did it again a month or so later. So I tried that --- it still does not work. I would not recommend this product to anyone. That was $95 down the drain.

[+] 6.0 battery problems
the Z22 works well enough for the price. but after about 10 months the battery has stoped holding a charge for more than two days. not so useful that way.

[+] 4.0 Not so good
I had the Z22 for 2 months before it crashed. I emailed Customer service and they were helpful. I did a Hard reset and all was well for a few days now it crashes about 3 times a week and I am going to send it in to Palm for serviceing but am buying a HP Ipac to replace it and will use the Z22 as a back up.

I am not planning to buy any more
Palm PDAs for a while.

[+] 10.0 Pleasant Surprise - Good ebook reader
I bought this product 8 months back.

Operating System:
I use this product on both Windows XP and Mac OS X Leopard. [...]

Use:
I bought this for its PDA functions. However, I now use this to do two things:
1. Create list of stuff when I go shopping.
2. Read ebooks in text format.
3. Scribble some pictures when I am bored :)
My phone pretty much does the rest of the things and does them well.

Charge/Life:
I have read several reviews about this coming dead in the package. I fortunately, had no issues. I just make sure that this is never completely discharged. As soon as it shows low charge, I immediately charge it through the USB port. Each charge lasts 4-5 days depending on the usage.

Connectivity:
I believe the lack of bluetooth or Wi-fi is a boon. It's just two less things to distract you! :)

Storing images:
It can store and display images in very low resolution (160x160 pixels). So don't buy this if it's the primary reason you are going for this.

Other Info:
Most of the rest of the features are OK. The software that comes with the device (for PC/Mac) for contacts, appointments etc shows age. (Looks like typical 90s software).

The device itself never crashed and has been VERY stable.

Hope this helps! :)

[+] 2.0 Worse than a virus or a worm!!
The software for this thing, in both its download form and disc, essentially destroyed the operating system of the (Dell) computer on which it was installed. There were no warnings posted or printed about potential problems, and there are no fixes available from Palm.

I strongly suggest avoiding this product, and being VERY careful with any other Palm unit. There are plenty of less dangerous alternatives.

[+] 10.0 Lot of punch in a little package
The Z22 is an excellent choice for those who neither need nor want an expensive blackberry or PDA. It is a small work horse that performs flawlessly.

[+] 10.0 Palm Z22 Handheld A Good Buy
The Palm Z22 Handheld is smaller and lighter than my previous handheld device. I use it mainly for the contact list, calculator, memos and notepad. The Graffiti 2 writing method is easy to learn, but the Z22 also has an on-screen keyboard to use when the Graffiti 2 just won't cooperate. I really like having all these functions on one small device which fits easily in my purse. I'm glad I also purchased the Fexi-Case. An added "surprise" feature I hadn't anticipated: the students in the high school where I work are super-impressed when I pull out my Z22 to use as a calculator. So, I now know it has a really cool look, on top of the useful features.
