Panasonic DECT 6.0-Series 3-Handset Cordless Phone System with Answering System (KX-TG1033S)
We replaced an old portable phone/answering system with this one. We had it set up in 5 minutes. The sound quality is great and we can finally hear people who call us! The answer machine is simple to use. The only thing I miss is that our other answering machine had 3 lines so each of us in the family had our own line. This was a nice feature but not necessary. For the price, it works great and easy to use. I would recommend this product to anyone. My family members are technically good with electronic devices. I came home one day and each of the handsets had been changed from a standard ring to music. I think that is really cool and it makes it fun when the phone rings.

For the price, a good buy
I had the slim line Vtech phones for 2 years when they all died in harmony. I tried replacing the batteries but they would never hold a charge. I gave up hope and got these sets on sale and love them so far.
My only quirks are as follows.
The phones include belt clips, great plus! However, they made using the phone holding it with your head and shoulder the most uncomfortable feat EVER!!! Next the menu is a little tricky. Using a Vtech and going to this has made my transition a little more technical. Not too bad but eh its ok.
Features are on par with the price level.
One thing that I love. This phone uses rechargeable AAA bateries instead of battery packs and I grabbed the energizer rechargeables when I bought the phone just because the battery rating was that much better. Almost double.
You can't go wrong with this phone.
Excellent reception with no feedback or interference with our wireless-highly recommend, great price for 3 phones!

Great Phone- The ringtones SUCK!
I love this phone. It is exactly what I wanted. The only thing I could not anticipate was the ring tones. They are atrocious! Do not order this phone if you HATE any of the electronic-y sounding ring tones you have heard in past cell phones. This phone sounds just like them.
If the cell phone ring tones have improved and, at least, sound like a phone ringing, why can't this 21st century phone have a selection of sounds that include something better than this silliness? Honestly my home sounds like an 18 yrs old's dorm room, with Hello Kitty wall paper or a twelve year old's Sponge Bob backpack.
At the very least, Panasonic could offer the service of changing these horrible ring tones from an online download. No kidding, these are about 10 years behind!
Melody #5 is a really bad electronic Jingle bells that I would not ever put on my worst enemy's phone! The others include bad electronic ballet, and symphonic renditions not available in any cell in the last 5 years, also, the "basic" ring is so annoying! I would welcome an old fashions bell ring.
Honestly this phone had everything i wanted and I will use it until it dies. The last one took over 5 years of hard use. I have three of them and I keep only one ringer on in a two story house. Its well worth the money, if you aren't at home listening to it all day.
Panasonic, please change the ringtones to some melody found in the natural world- the tweeting birds behind melody #10 don't cut it!

Very Disappointed
This phone was intended as a replacement and upgrade for an ATT E5965C (which lost the ability to hold a charge in all of the handsets after three years, even with new batteries). I consider this Panasonic to be a downgrade, not an upgrade, and I am very disappointed. Compared to the ATT, which had a color display, this display is extremely hard to see. It does not have customized ringtones or graphics. The handset does not flash when the phone rings (so if you have more than one line you can't tell which one is ringing). I don't notice any improvement in sound quality with the new DECT technology. You can't tell if someone else is using the line by looking at a handset; the ATT displayed "extension in use."

No Range to Speak of
I like the answering machine. The design of phone, features and ease of use are fine. My BIG beef is the lack of RANGE. The base is in the office and another is one room away. Half the time I am told I'm too far away from the base. If the battery is fully charged it may work okay. I ended up digging up my old Sony cordless and buying a new battery for it so I'd for sure to have a reliable one in a third room.
the range in most new phones is getting worse. good buy. one in kitchen, one in office and one in garage. i love that. having AAA rechargable batteries rather than the expensive battery pack is a plus.

Excellent! Much better than the Uniden I had before!
This is an excellent phone. I have had none of the problems of a dropped signal from the base unit to the handset and the poor battery life of the Uniden.
These phones are awesome. The way you have to view caller-ID and missed calls is a little weird, you'd think it would be easier than it is... but the battery life, features, and quality outweigh the inconvenience.

Not a great as expected
The menus are a little clunky, and it is disappointing that I couldn't set up different rings for different people (my very old phone had this) without paying for a special service. I've also had people complain about static, but I'm not sure if this is because of proximity to my DSL modem...

3 for one not always better
this set of 3 handsets sounds like a great deal but the handsets have very low volume even at max and they are easily interfered with (source unknown) so that you loose the ringing on some but not all and the sound while speaking flucuates during the conversation. The feature that was a surprise plus was that once the answering machine picks up the call you can hear whose calling from any handset location. This makes it easy to screen calls with out having to go back to the base handset to hear who the caller is.

A wellthought out product
I recently purchased the Panasonic Cordless Answering System, Model No. kx-tg1031. I needed a phone that wouldn't interfere with my work on my laptop. This phone set does almost all the things I needed from a phone--ease of use, for example: the operating instructions were clear, much easier to follow than any other cordless phone I've ever owned--all one of them, a phone I bought at Radio Shack. I was able to start using it as soon as the battery loaded. I haven't had the phone long enough to comment on the battery life. The only problem I haven't been able to solve is to get rid of the "missed call" message on the Display. I am, otherwise, more than satisfied with the product.
This is my second phone with panasonic DECT 6.0 tech and no problems so far. I'm very happy with it.

So far, so good....
I've only had these phones for a couple weeks now, but the sound quality and range is great! They are easy to use and I like the fact that the handsets use regular batteries as opposed to special phone batteries that can cost half as much as a new phone! So far, I'd recommend this phone.

Panasonic DECT 6.0
I bought this for my parents to replace an aging Uniden phone that was constantly cutting out while I was talking to them. The Panasonic DECT 6.0 was easy for them to use and has lots of features. I set up speed dial for my parents and that was it. They love the speaker phone on the back of the handsets. Also, it uses AA NiMH batteries that can be easily replaced at then end of their recharging life. I heartily recommend this phone.

A fantastic product for a great price
I've owned multi-handset answering machines for years. My prior unit was excellent; an AT&T three-unit set with battery backup for the base set and a maximum of four handsets. It did yeoman work for years, and we only got rid of it because the playback on the answering machine got so poor that we couldn't hear half the first messages. Since the messages were stored in a solid-state module we finally had to replace it.
I have to have good sound quality because I'm going deaf in both ears from a half-century of loud noises; hearing gunfire (big-bore rifle team), riding motorcycles and flying piston-engined small planes. I began to protect my hearing too late to do more than save a percentage of it, but that's another story.
The KX-TG1033 system has great sound quality, a wide range of both ring- and speaker-volume, incredible battery life (about a week standby time, about 7 hours talk time), and simple-to-use programming and retrieval. One small nit to pick: searching for a number isn't as simple as it could be, but that's all I can think of that I'm not crazy about.
This system is outstanding for several reasons, but one is that you can enter a person's phone number, name, etc. and then share it with one or all of the other handset units. Or, you can copy your *entire* telephone directory to all the other telephones. This saved a huge amount of time, as we have three handsets. I'd buy this unit again for this reason alone.
The handsets are very light, they come with optional belt/pocket clips which work rather too well as they may be hard to remove from say, the hip pocket of a pair of jeans. Controls are simple and easys to use. Functions of the seven buttons and single navigation button on the handset are easy to see and read. The units connect for recharging easily and without having to be careful in their placement in their charging stands. It's expandable to a maximum of six handsets. Range is outstanding; I've used it from across the street with no problem and no fade. Stored messages can be heard from any handset and the playback tone is very good. It also has a speakerphone button on the handset which works OK, but isn't anything to brag about. My wife likes the Intercom/Call Transfer function, too.
Would I recommend this product? Yes, I would. Of course, I have no idea how long they'll last over all, but I'm willing to bet that Panasonic made them to last a long, long time.
And we didn't scrap our old system; the AT&T unit is now doing duty in the garage as just another handset. I like the battery backup for the base unit because it still works if we have a power outage.

great set of phones
good quality cordless phones. I connected the main base directly to my cable modem and the voice quality is better than my old copper land line. Great for a multi-level house because of the intercom feature. You can page from one phone to any other and use intercom in between them. Also has speaker for phone for hands free talking.

Excellent cordless system
I have purchased two of these systems, one for me and another for my mother. Both work exactly as expected with no problems or hiccups. I had two other Panasonic cordless phones that each lasted over 10 years. If this one lasts as long as those I'll be very happy.
Pluses - large keypad (great for my mom), excellent sound quality, good price for the features
Minuses - no on-touch dialing, non-intuitive menu design
And like all DECT systems, no Bluetooth interference. I can live with the minuses because I don't use one-touch dialing and once you set it up, the menus don't really matter much anymore.
Sound Quality is superior to all others I have tried. The only real complaint is the amount of difficulty in navigating the screens to add people to the phone directory in the phone. To make matters worse each handset has its own memory so if you pick up a handset that was not programmed there are no numbers in it. All the others I have had shared this simple memory function.
I like them. One thing that bothers me is the way it sounds muted when you are talking. I cant think of a great way to explain, you can hear the other end great, its how you hear this muted air. It goes in and out. Weird! Otherwise, it has great features once you figure them out. (I didnt read the manual!) For the price, they are great phones!
So far so good...only have had for few weeks. It has a lot of versatility, easy use, and stability.
I bought this phone based on the positive reviews here; everything is as other people have written. The only thing I've noticed that I didn't catch in anyone else's review is that the first time I used this phone, the [background] sound seemed to go in and out when I talked and I was unsure if my call was dropped. However, the other person responded normally without hearing any changes in sound quality. So I've just gotten used to this happening to me - it doesn't occur all the time, but every so often it does no matter where I am in the house, but again I haven't had any problems with it at all. Besides that, this phone has worked out great for our family.

Bad Handset Microphone
We bought this system in July of this year. Within a short time, one of the handsets had a problem. Part of its functionality would cut out. Specifically, the ability to hear oneself while talking would stop working, although the person on the other end could still hear you. It would then start working again. We liked the phone system otherwise (like most modern phones, it's not great, but it was better than average), so we decided to return the faulty handset to the dealer (Sears) and replace just the one handset. Unfortunately, at least one of the other two handsets later developed the same problem, and it's too late now to return the system to Sears (they accept returns for 30 days).
I'm assuming it's a flaw in the handsets themselves, having nothing to do with the base and the signal from the base, but I don't know for sure. I called Panasonic Tech Support, and the rep said to remove the batteries fromt the handset and reinsert them. I did that this morning, and we'll see if it does anything. Frankly, I don't see why it should, but I don't want to appear unwilling to troubleshoot the issue. The rep said that if that didn't work to ship it back to them for service. Naturally, she said I have to pay for shipping (in California, where we live, companies are required to have local service centers, but most companies, apparently including Panasonic, ignore the law and hope they don't get sued).

Comments on Shortcomings
I am very pleased with this phone. Now that I've had some experience with it I would like to comment on 2 shortcomings that had initially made me hesitant to buy it.
First, it has been reported that the quality of the personally recorded answering message is very poor. Based on my experience with numerous answering machines I've owned, I'd say that this one is no worse than others. It is indeed disappointing, and doesn't sound much like my voice, but the message is definitely understandable, and thus usable.
Second, numerous people have pointed out the inexplicable lack of a speed dial button. This is indeed true. However, I've discovered a technique for semi-speed dial. Without explaining why this works, if in the phone book you begin the name of your "speed dial" entry with a #, the 3 button sequence Phonebook-1-Talk will dial the number. Those 3 buttons are close to each other, so it's not too bad once you get use to it.
I'll also comment that I find the weight of the handset just right.

More that I expected at this price
The sound quality is excellent. The battery life is outstanding. And I purchased spare batteries at a fraction of the cost of NiCad packs, which are so last century. To be able to flip open the battery cover and pop in two AAA rechargeables is 5 stars. Absolutely no interference from any and all wireless devices in my home. Crystal clear reception and people on the other end like what they hear too. I'm only sorry I bought the ones with three handsets instead of 4 or even 5. I'd buy again in a New York minute.

Unreliable, strange decrease in range after couple of months
I spent an incredible amount of time reading reviews before I bought this phone and should have actually paid attention to the bad ones. I was very happy with the phones when I first purchased them--great clarity, range was comparable to what I had before, good battery life, good price, etc. Now having owned them for a couple of months I find that they are dropping calls for no apparent reason. I had seen reviews in which people reported problems that only began after a few months and thought they had to have been a fluke but now it has happened to me too.

It serves its purpose
I just wanted a decent, reasonably priced phone. My family has spent money on expensive phones that do not last. Finally, we started spending less on cheap phones that were decent. After many years, these cheap, decent phones finally gave out. Anyhow, we use the phone for its basic purpose- which is to talk on it. I'm not aware of any fancy features though I'm sure there are some. I like that the secondary lines do not need phone jacks. The volume is fine and the phone serves its purpose, so I'm satisfied. I would recommend it if you need multiples phones.

Quick delivery. Product...still testing. So far so good.
So far so good. Easy to set up. Clear calls. No static. Screens on all 3 phones are easy to read.
We have been overall very happy with the product. Using it over two years when we got our first VOIP. Its great to have three units connected through only one main unit and easily portable and range is great. Did not replace any batteries yet. All functions work well and speaker option is great as well and useful during conference calls. Occasionally the charge indicator malfunctions, but does not cause all that inconvenience.
We are very happy with the Panasonic DECT 6.0 cordless phone we purchased recently. We were in the market for a new phone when our old cordless no longer functioned properly. Before I purchase a product I like to research the best or recommended in the category. This model Panasonic showed up on the list.
This Panasonic has all the up-to-date features you would want in a cordless. We have had no problem with reception anywhere in our apartment. Living in New York City, back in the day our cordless on occasion would pick up police calls and neighbors' conversations. This should never be a problem with this phone.
Being seniors, we especially like the big keypad phone numbers and the speaker phone. I even set the alarm system to wake me up every morning (you of course have your choice of ringtones). My wife especially likes to use the intercom to speak to me without having to shout or hunt me down if I'm in another room. The cordless holds up to 50 numbers in the phonebook which makes it easy to speed dial friends, family and emergency numbers.
We had to have an answering system with our cordless phone and my only very small negative is that the phone forces you to listen to the message before if re-displays the date and time in the window.
For the retail price I don't think you could buy a better phone and when you add on the savings, it makes this cordless a must buy in my opinion.

Happy with this phone
I have had the phones for a month and am happy with them. The only complaint I have is sometimes the phone sounds like it is going dead but it isn't. I will put up with that blank sound once in awhile for all the good benefits it has given me. What I like best is the distance I can go from the base unit with my phone.
I'm totally pleased with this phone. Ring is loud enough to hear throughout the house, the sound quality when talking is fabulous, speaker phone works great. I need to read the instructions to figure out what all the buttons are for but don't use many features besides dialing! I highly recommend this phone.

Good phone system but missing important feature
Generally happy with this phone however since I use it often at night time in bed, it's almost impossible to use since the keypad does not have a back light so you can't see which buttons to press when it's dark. All other cordless phones that I've been using in the past, like Uniden, Vtech, GE did have this basic feature in place.
I live in a small apartment in New York and have had trouble with the reception on most cordless phones I've owned. I am happy to say that since buying this phone, I've had absolutely no problem whatsoever. It doesn't matter that the base is sitting in an area between my microwave and a computer. No reception problems at all. The battery has also not died on me yet. My child is always leaving the phones off of the base, yet when we go to make a call, the dial tone is still there. I absolutely love the speakerphone. It's like the person is sitting in the room next to you. The only negative I've found is the conference call feature. I can pick up my extension while someone else is on the phone and listen in without them knowing. My child has done that to me a couple of times. There should be a way to give permission before someone joins in the conversation. Other than that, I love the phone and highly recommend it to others.

Great Phones with Nice Phonebook Transfer Feature
I haven't had any problems with these phones. I have two downstairs and one upstairs in a 2700 sq. ft. house. I have a 2.4 GHz Wifi network, and since these phones run on 1.9 GHz, I don't have to worry about interference. The Phonebook is easy to setup using the handset. Once you have completed the Phonebook entries, it is easy to transfer the Phonebook to the other phones. If you add or modify an entry, you have to transfer the Phonebook to the other phones again. It does not happen automatically. I am not using the Answering Machine function, so I can't comment on that.

So far this phone has been great. Voice is clear, no disturbance noises as read in some reviews. Love the locator feature as my little ones like to hide the phone. Battery life lasts for at least 12 hours.
I ordered 3 phones for my elderly mother and father. The phones work great with no interference from the microwave or wireless computer. My parents really like the large caller ID display and large dialing numbers. It holds a charge really well. They have the base phone w/ answering machine in the kitchen, one phone in the living room and one phone upstairs by the computer. All three work fine.

Dissapointed with the product
I bought this product because someone raved that the charge lasted a long time. I bought the system only 2 weeks ago and the phones get discharged after a couple of phone calls ( not eve a couple of hours). So I keep moving the hand set so that I have the properly charged one always available. When you buy this stuff online it is so difficult to deal with returns and it only adds to the cost by having to pay to ship it back.
I did a lot of research prior to buying this item, looking for a phone that would give me extended range. Many reviewers commented on the excellent range of this item, so I purchased it. My second handset now sits on a kitchen counter less than 40 feet from the base unit, just off a direct line of sight. Almost every time I pick it up, I have to walk towards the base unit in order for the handset to make contact with the base. I am extremely unhappy with this purchase - maybe I just got a lemon and the other reviewers are right, but my phone does not work as advertised.

We purchased this phone after having few unsuccessful attempt to buy the cheap ones thinking that anyways we are replacing phones every year. But, i just say that this one is lasting battery (we had problems with battery for most of the other Vtech & Uniden we purchased before) for longer then what Panasonic is claim it will last.
