PANASONIC: A TERRIBLE choice
Spending extra money on a "name brand" phone with 3 wireless handsets and caller ID seemed like a "smart move"....WRONG!! Problems began from the very start, even problems with PANASONIC CORPORATION keeping their word and replacing the units. First, the calller ID did not work very well on all of the phones- intermittent at best. This was a poor choice because we used the phones in our business, from the base unit to the office to the workshop-- we could hardly ever tell who was calling or who had called.
Several calls to technical support gave help but nothing changed the problem. Then we received AUTHORIZATION WITH a customer reference number for a complete replacement of all phones! The authorization was received within the 12 months warranty period. But ah-ah-ah. They did not receive the units within the 12 months warranty period, by the time we stopped trying to run the business long enough to buy replacement phones to use while they were being returned, locate packaging, pack and ship out by UPS. Panasonic Corporation received the phones but REFUSED to REPLACE THEM!!! but wanted $127.50 to repair them (HALF AGAIN THEIR ORIGINAL COST)!
Many frustrating callS to PANASONIC CORPORATION Customer Service ensued citing the authorization for replacement. This still ended in denial and refusal to help. More calls to supervisors ensued (after all a purchase of over $225 for phones should be worth something). Still refusal to keep their word to replace the phones.
Finally, another supervisor authorized the one time replacement of all three phones. She said she would email me a letter confirming this authorization --- ANd NEVER DID!! I faxed to her all the correspondence, model #'s, serial #'s, work orders as she requested. Some time later I get a refurbished base station with 2 of the phones but not the third phone. The refurbished phones only had 90 days warranty not 12 months that I had been promised. After about three weeks I placed several calls to PANASONIC CORPORATION to ask where my other phone set was, ultimately to get another supervisor who said THEY WERE WAITING FOR ME TO PAY THEM TO REPAIR IT!!!
I said that nothing had EVER been said about me paying for the repair of any of the purchased phones! I told them I would fax all of the correspondence to them which fully documented the full replacement of all units. While I was preparing the fax I got another call from PANASONIC CORPORATION telling me they were going to send my old unit back to me!! They said they were not going to replace the third phone as promised because they thought the problem with the caller ID was solved by sending me a refurbished base unit.
So how many lies were made by PANASONIC CORPORATION? Can you count them all?? I would not rate these phones even a "1" for poor because of PANASONIC CORPORATION being so corrupt from the beginning and so cheap that they wouldn't even send out a refurbished phone. The best rating I could give them would be a zero (0) or a minus something for all the heartburn and frustration I went through for a very poor quality product.

Great Features, Terrible Speakerphone Speakers
I upgraded a previous Panasonic system which was very similar to this one thinking I would be improving on a great product, boy was I wrong. I should have stayed with my older one until it gave out.
The reasons I choose Panasonic was simple:
1. I needed an expandable unit
2. No phone jack is needed for add on phones, merely an power outlet
3. You can listen to your messages from any handset, you do not need to go to the base unit to retrieve them and you can erase those messages from any handset
The major complaint I have is that within a very short period of purchasing the base unit the speaker in the handset thru which you hear your messages and speakerphone started cracking and then broke completely. It is a different speaker than you hear the caller thru.
I purchased an addt'l handset when they were back in stock and within 6 months it started doing the same thing.
I love the features of these phones. I need a 2 line phone and I also use the speakerphone on the handsets regularly so it is very important to me that it works.
I'm disappointed in the quality, even worse, I'm angry at myself for "upgrading" and not taking back the base unit immediately after it started cracking.
volume could be a bit louder for me, so i go for the speaker phone feature, but once you select it, you're stuck until you hang up, ie, you cannot reverse speaker phone during the call.

one of the better 2-line cordless systems available
This is probably one of the better 2-line cordless phones available (and there aren't many). I tried the Motorola 2-line phones first, but after 2 years ALL of the LCD viewscreens were not readable. There could be an improvement in the range (especially through brick walls) in my opinion. Spead speatrum technology and phonebook sync between units is good.

Lots of good features
We had a single line system before, but put in a VOIP connection for friends to contact us down south. The Panasonic two line system is similar to the single line system we had.
Voice quality is excellent and connectivity to base station works well even through concrete walls.
There are a couple of drawbacks people should know in advance. Each handset stores the call log individually. So each phone tells you you had a missed call. Clearing the log on one phone does not clear it on the other handsets.
Similarly and even more annoying is that the phone book is stored in each phone individually - though you can transmit entries from one phone to another. Since we have four handsets, that means if you enter the number in one handset, you have to forward it to the other three handsets.

ok, but funcitionality is a little cumbersome
unit works well and is fairly easy to use. sound is good. But the menu functionality requires too many steps to get to the phone book and find a number. I purchased this because I have another Panasonic with a very easy menu system and thought this would be the same, except it has two lines in. Why don't the manufacturers just use one system? otherwise, the unit is fine.

Good phone, but room for improvement
I've had this phone for about a month. I like the phone's many features, especially the speaker capability built into the handsets, and would buy it again. However, there are a few things, one especially, that Panasonic could improve on.
(a)Missed call list - While for some things, the handsets coordinate with each other (e.g., phone #s entered into one handset can easily be copied to all other handsets; date/time set on one handset sets it on all), when a call is answered using another phone in the house, it shows as a "missed call" on ALL handsets. IOW, the handsets do not recognize that the call was answered. Even worse, a call answered on one handset records as a missed call on ALL other handsets. In addition, deleting missed calls from one handset does NOT remove them for the others; you must delete them individually from each handset. The phone can have up to 8 handsets. If I needed more than the 2 handsets that came with it, this malfunction would cause me not to buy the phone. It's the #1 thing Panasonic needs to fix.
(b)The clarity of the speaker for the base unit answering machine is poor, to the point that it's often difficult or impossible to understand the person's name or the phone number they left. Luckily, unless the caller blocks their ID, the handset captures the number as a missed call, so you can get it from that, but it may not show the person's name, only part of a company name.
(c)Although the phone is advertised as a "5.8GHz Digital Gigarange", it's not necessarily "gigarange"; depends on where you put the base unit. I have the base in my basement office. The location probably accounts for the very short handset range, which is pretty much limited to the confines of the house. The manual says to put the base unit "high"; e.g., on the 2nd floor of a 2-story, but I have to have it in the office because I have an intelligent fax connected to it that automatically picks up when it "hears" the fax signal. I did an experiment where I put the unit on the 2nd floor, and the range increased dramatically (~200%). However, I also compared it's range to a 20-year-old Panasonic 900MHz cordless, and the new phone's range is only about 30' more than the old phone. So if you need a LOT of range on the handsets, determine whether it will be convenient or even possible to put the base in a high position.
(d)The handsets are small (1 7/8" wide by 1 1/8" thick); my hand is big (palm alone is 4" wide x 4 1/4" long), so the handsets are not particularly comfortable. Panasonic could improve the comfort by putting soft rubber along the edge and around part of the back.
If you go shopping for a 2-line phone, you will discover that there's not much out there and few choices in the brick-and-mortar stores (Best Buys, Staples, Office Depot). Reviews of other 2-line phones show that they all have their quirks, some pretty serious. The KX-TG6702B is a well short of perfect, but probably better than most.

It works as advertised
Panasonic KX-TD7896, 2.4GHz Multi-Line Wireless Phone
In this age of so many electronic devices failing out of the box or not quite operating at advertised ability, amazingly enough, this Panasonic product works perfectly as advertised. I have a resort in iron country where radio signals get lost in the iron content in the ground. This 2 line phone has a range that exceeds a quarter mile. Similar phones by Uniden lost contact outside the office door. Models by Sony failed to work out of the box and no one would stand behind them including Sony who no longer manufactured the phones they just sold me.
The only wish we have is for a two button quick dial on the hand-sets, a minor inconvienience.
I owned the previous generation of this product. I work in a harsh environment, so we have gone through other systems in about 6 months. This last one went for over 3 years. The weak point is the #1 on the handsets. THis also happened on my home model single line.
Panasonic got cheap and now makes you pay extra to order belt clips. Probably the only reason I gave it a 4 and not a 5
Panasonic KX-TG6700, 5.8GHz Cordless Phone
I have had bad luck with Panasonic phones dying after a couple of years, but the features of this phone were what I needed so overcame my reluctance. The phone has worked fine for several years but this morning every light was on and the phone was inoperable. The issue is apparently the ribbon connector to the circuit board in the phone (a number of troubleshooting forums have addressed this problem), which i managed to disconnect to reboot the board. Now the handset is working again but not the base unit, and only if i leave the back off the base. Maybe Panny is taking a cue from the Auto companies who planned to have their products fall apart after a couple of years so you'd have to buy new ones. I don't know but this is the 4th Panasonic phone I've bought that did not live to a normal replacement age.

A very good choice
I've only had this phone for a week, but it is already better than the 3 other AT&T phones I've had over the past 2 years. The best thing about this phone so far is that it doesn't have any background hum in the handset(all 3 AT&T phones did). You can hear the person you are talking with clearly. The volume in the handset is more than adequate. The phones appearance is so-so, but it is very functional and that matters more to me than a sleek appearance with lousy sound quality. My 3 prior AT&T phones didn't last more than 4-10 months. The background hum eventually got so loud, I could barely hear the person I was talking with. From my experience so far, I would recommend this phone over AT&T and VTech. I hope the phone lives up to my praise over the long term.

Good wireless phone
This is a good phone - not great , but good. The handset volume is a little low and depressing the phone line buttons is also a little difficult to switch from one line to the other. The portable design is good and it has all of the good features you'd expect. Other revewers gave great information and I'd recommend this phone if this is what you are looking for.
this phone is cool but it really lacks range. i would have thought i could go further before losing calls..nope. Each phone has a individual phone book which could be cool in certain situations but is a real pain because every phone in my house has different numbers. it is a pain to sync each phone with the household phone book. if i grab the wrong phone it may not have the number i need in it. the answering unit is only ok it does not have very user friendly controls for saving or reviewing messages after a period of time.

Great choice for a small office
Great choice for a small office:
- Support for 2 lines is a significant plus, especially given very moderate pricing
- Tiny footprint for the "base"
- The base has the same, fully usable cordless handset (vs. a separate useless corded base in earlier models)
- Speakerphone on each handset very helpful when dealing with extended waiting time on the line...
- Good sound quality
- Processes the FLASH button correctly for Vonage lines (call wait feature & three-way calls)
(We do not use auto-answering mode, because we are using Vonage - works great with the Vonage box, supporting both lines.)
Cons:
- The only ones discovered so far are minor: the base has an LCD display, BUT this display shows neither the current time (when inactive), nor the call time (when speaking). So it was added for no obvious purpose...
The phone is OK but I have 5 handsets and 3 have failed over 1 1/2 years - terrible reliability. And todate Panasonic has not been very helpful.

Save your money!!
After about 1 year the buttons on the base, which only get used for checking messages at my house, started to fail. Problem probably occurred even prior to the 1 year mark, but I didn't notice until it affected the message playback button. Once I discovered the issue, I attempted to power reset the base at which point the entire unit "locked up" and could no longer be used. Panasonic's solution was send it in for repair, be without my phone for however long that takes, and all at my cost since I was outside the warranty period.
Please, save your money!!! Don't get stuck with a $200+ phone (I purchased additional handsets) that you can't even use. I loved the phone while it was working, but it's only a matter of time until it fails.

Super phone system!
I really love my new phone system. It was easy to set up and is simple to use. The sound quality is very good.
Our ancient Panasonic 2 line cordless could not hold a battery charge. After some research, this unit met all of our needs. It has expandability w/o a phone line nearby. It has a speaker phone on each handheld and the base. It has 2 lines on all units. It was easy to install (meaning I did it on my own!) and it is working just fine. Started w/just 2 handsets, but may buy more. We like the feature to set different rings for the 2 lines. Sound seems a little less clear than old phone, but did not do side by side comparison. So far (about 2 months) the batteries are holding charges very well.

Panasonic KX-TG6702B 2-Line 5.8 GHz FHSS GigaRange Expandable Cordless Phone System with 2 Handsets
I purchased this phone in September 2007 because of the positive reviews. A year later it quit working. First there was no dial tone, and when someone called it was impossible to hear them. Tried the troubleshooting guide and nothing worked - the batteries were good as well. It was difficult to justify paying over $200 for a telephone but decided it would be ok since it would hopefully last many years - my AT & T phones were over 12 years old and one of the set was still working (even after being dropped 2 floors to a cement patio). Unfortunately, it didn't. Though I make all my purchases through Amazon and have for many years, I've never had to return anything before. I wasn't thrilled to read the return information - anything not returned within a month (even unopened) will be charged restocking??? What if you buy Christmas gifts (as I always have) a few months ahead of time??? I will have to rethink my Amazon purchasing - especially if I find out that there is no warranty for the $200+ phone that stopped working a year later.

Do not purchase these phones if you would like a product that will last more than 6 months. I purchased one base unit with 2 handsets and 2 extra handsets and within 4 months the speakers that operate the speaker phone and ringers went out in all 4 phones. I contacted panasonic and was instructed to send them in and they would be replaced with refurbished phone. One month later again the speakers are starting to go out on my relacement phones. Panasonic has instructed that I may send them in and they will replace them again, but this is getting to be a hassle as I do need to have telephones that I can hear ringing and that aren't on a ups truck somewhere in order to run my business.

Satisfactory solution
This expandable Panasonic cordless phone (Panasonic KX-TG6702B 2-Line) has proved to be audible when used to the ear or via the speakerphone, and the battery charge has lasted a suitable amount of time.
Setup of the original, and a 3rd expansion handset were straightforward, and became useful quickly. Setting up the base station was the most complicated for us, as we did not want to use the built-in message system, and wanted to turn off most of the ringers. I did have to consult the manual for turning off the ringer on the base unit.
The only feature I would ding is the lack of lighting behind the talk and speaker buttons, which makes it difficult to answer in the dark. The handset has a light when it is in its charging base; the screen is reasonable to read at night; but one will certainly fumble to answer the phone at night.

By and large, this phone is what I expected with one big surprise: I used to use headsets with my phones to free my hands. But the speakerphone on the remote handsets is terrific and I use them that way 95% of the time. The other party never notices that I'm using a speakerphone.
The base unit speakerphone is the usual crummy only-when-necessary type.

It's a fantastic system
I just purchased the Panasonic KX-TG6702B and two additional headsets. The system works better than expected. I was concerned when I read some reviews that questioned it's transmission strength. So when I got my system, I tried calling and receiving from across the street - a distance of several hundred feet. The system worked like a charm.
I especially like the feature that allows you to copy your phonebook entries from one handset to another. You simply enter a phone number in one handset and copy that entry to your other (in my case three) handsets - great!
I do have one beef with Panasonic. They don't include the belt clip with the handset. I can't understand why they would want to charge $1.00 for something that costs pennies. In addition, they want to charge $5.95 shipping - a really absurd thing to do.
Other than the issue with the belt clip, I would highly recommend this telephone system. As for those that had transmission issues, they must have been trying to make calls through steel walls. I had a much different experience.

Very bad reception. The phone base was connected in 2nd floor but if I take the phone to 1st floor, I am not receiving any kind of signal. But at the same if I am go nearer then the phone works fine.
Missing items -- charger power code and another item, and the manuel came in the box is not the manuel for this system. The speakerphone on one of the handsets does not work. Terrible experience. I purchased the system "new" but suspect that it is not new. Wrote to Amazon and was told to return the item which I will, but it is a waste of time buying something and returning it. I though the seller should have better quality control than that.
Try getting the remotes to ring when a call is coming in...FORGET IT!
