good idea but many flaws
I HAVE BEEN AN ADVOCATE OF PUSH-UPS FOR MANY YEARS AND CONSIDER MYSELF AN EXPERT IN THE DEVELOPMENT AND PRACTICE OF PUSH-UPS. THE IDEA OF THIS DEVICE IS INTERESTING BUT FLAWED IN SOME WAYS TO ME.THE FIRST THING IS THE LOOSE MOVEMENT OF THE DEVICE DOES NOT ALLOW FOR A NOVICE TO FEEL STABLE WHEN THEY FIRST GRASP THE CLAMPS, I ALSO IMMEDIATELY NOTICED THAT THEY SAT TOO LOW ON THE FLOOR, THE BASE SHOULD BE A LITTLE HIGHER SO THE PERSON CAN START COMFORTABLE OVER THE CLAMPS. ALSO MY HANDS ARE LARGE FROM DOING PUSH-UPS FOR MANY YEARS AND THESE HANDLES STILL TASKED MY ABILITY TO GRIP THE HANDLES.IF THE INVENTORS ADDED A LOCK ON THE SWIVEL OF THE CLAMPS I COULD GET MORE USE OUT OF DIFFERENT POSITIONS FOR MY PUSH-UPS.GOOD CONCEPT BUT NOT APPLIED TO THE MAXIMUM STRENGTH YOU CAN GET OUT OF PUSH-UPS.
I have a right wrist that does not bend due to a motorcycle accident. I have a hard time with push ups and getting up off the floor. This product solves my push up problem . it works perfectly and is the right size of grip. I DO recommend this. It is also a more NATURAL way to do a pushup

Perfect Pushup is the Perfect Workout
This is a very quality purchase for anyone that is looking to buff up in a few months time. I have been using the Perfect Pushup for the past 7 weeks, and can already see the differences and feel the changes. It takes about 20 minutes to do a full workout, and after the 19 day period of the workout, which is set up for you, you max out, and then set your workout for the next 3 weeks. I have not even been to the weight room at all, I use this with a combination of dumbbells, abdominal crunches/sit-ups and aerobics.
Overall a great purchase...
I bought this product a few weeks ago. It works as promised, and I would fully recommend it.

Good product but bad price
This product is just what I was looking for. It does all that it is supposed to do and lives up to its expectations. But I found it at Sam's Club for 10 dollars cheaper a couple of weeks later. I should have been more patient.

perfect pushup review; A grade given
wonderful product.Nice grip, good quality product. Definitely helps to workout by dissipating the stresses involved on wrist in pushups. very comfortable to workout.I feel easy to use this device.worthy product for any person.
Its amazing how something so simple can be so effective. The Perfect Pushup really doesn't change the way you do pushups, it more makes you do them more effectively. You can't cheat as easily with this, and it forces you to use the right muscles. I started adding pushups using the Perfect Pushup to the end of my workout and I definitely felt my muscles working hard to balance myself. I don't think its the "answer" to a bigger chest or stronger arms, but its definitely an added plus to anyone's normal workout regiment.
These are great, your push-ups will be taken to the next level. I can't say enough about the perfect pushup, they are outstanding. Everyone that I work with in Iraq is using them and seeing great results. Well worth the money and made to last.
I think it does everything it is supposed to do. But at $40 I think it is a bit expensive.
While the rotary motion helps its the extra height (6 inches) that really offers the advantage. I like it but took off one star for the price.

Works as described
Bought this and take it with me in the travel bag. After a wrist surgery, I was a bit skeptical, but can vouch for the effectiveness. That little elevation off the floor makes a big difference, and the natural twisting motion is perfect for balance and stability. Sometimes a simple idea is the right stuff.

One of my favorite pieces of exercise equipment
This small piece of gear is offers some of the best bang for your buck you'll find anywhere. You can perform a wide array of exercises that target multiple parts of the upper body. I mix it into my routine about twice a week to really focus on the upper body. Can't beat this one for it's price, quality and wide range of exercises and muscles you can hit. I would highly recommend this one for beginners too due to it's ease of use. Beginners can start on their knees and work their way up to extending their legs as they get stronger.

Great piece of gear
I was torn between getting these and the travel version, after looking at reviews of both I decided on this variation. I use them daily and find them to be very durable, have had them for 5 months without a problem. I have only used them on hard flooring (concrete and formica) so I cannot comment on how well they work on carpeting, but as long as the floor is clean and smooth, they stay in position without sliding, even during wide grip exercises. The chart that comes with them is adequate, I considered it a starting point from which I developed my own workout routine. Using them definitely improves performance in being able to knock out "normal" push ups. Being able to descend below the normal pushup depth helps to really get a good workout. Excellent product, eventually I think I will get a set of the travel version because these do not pack very easy for travel. The DVD was adequate too, it had some good pointers and recommendations for variations on the basic exercise.

Awful, the other reviews cant be serious
Are these reviewers insane? This product is horrible. It is unusable. Why? All of my weight is being centered on the inner palms of my hands where I hold the handles. It is like the handles become knives after a few seconds. The pain is unbearable, and the thick padding on the handles does not help. It hurts to a point that I can only do two or three pushups. Do NOT buy this idiotic product.

Good solid construction
These things are nice to use and they definitely do add some effort to an ordinary pushup. This is a good tool to use to tone up and keep in shape and the construction is solid. Doesn't feel like you're going to crack these if you drop something on them. I'd buy these again.

The Perfect Pushup
I heard good things about the perfect pushup and wanted to buy them to see how good they really are. I have been working out for a long time. I also do regular pushups which are the best pushups. The perfect pushup works against your rotator cuff which isn't good because I found out the hard way. I have a strained rotator cuff now and have to take it easy because of it. I have since heard from other people about getting the same type of injury. I wouldn't recomend this product and tell people to stick to the old fashion way of doing pushups which have been around for a long time.

Solid product - handles a little too big
I started on a push ups program and after two weeks I purchased a set of these handles hoping to get better results.
Pros
----
1. The handles are well made. Should last for years.
2. The handles make push ups harder, in a good way. Definitely feel it more after a session with these handles.
Cons
----
1. Grips are too large for my hands. I'm 5'11" with average size hands and after two weeks with these handles I started feeling a slight pain in the palm of my hands. These handles would be perfect with smaller grips.

Eh, a little more hype than help
Try them before you buy them. They don't move as smoothly as you might want and you have to try pretty hard to turn it.
This is a great product, but to be honest with the readers and the future costumers or buyers at first i though i was going to regret the purchase for the reason that the "perfect push up" were made out of plastic. This is not a very trustable material when it comes to this kind of exercise products but they really are of great quality. You know many websites and stores have the 30 day trial or money back garanteed, keep that in mind because it is a great product.
P.S. i'm not a sales person!!!
I don't workout, I don't like working out and I don't want to own any exercise equipment. However I do realize that the body needs to be exercised to stay as a "well oiled machine". This product not only works out the traditional bicep, chest and tricep muscle groups but because of the rotating motion a lot more work is done in the abdominal and torso area. After several days of using it I can already see and feel the difference.
I suppose after my body is better developed it will take longer to get the same workout but that's a long way off. For example, I can barely do 10-15 pushups with this product. Without it I can easily do 5-60 before feeling burn in my arms. I don't think I can do 50-60 with this product any time soon, maybe sometime next year...
It also comes with a great work out schedule poster and DVD. I definitely recommend this product.
They were made of good quality, and work as described. Not too much else to say... shipping was very slow

Good results, OK construction
Using this product is definitely better than pushups without it. I'm stronger after 3 months of using this product than I was before. However, the grips slide on the handles, and the handles move inside their housing. The grips are not as comfortable as I thought--I put hand towels over them and this solution works well enough. Bottom line--great workout, but construction could be better.

A Great Variation on a Great Exercise
The push up is simply a great exercise and the Perfect Pushup is simply a great variation on an already great theme.
I bought my item from [...]. The two rotating handles came packaged with a simple set of instructions on a poster and two DVDs. I don't believe that the DVDs come with the Amazon package.
The device is identical in concept to Jack Zatorski's Pushup Pro. Both modify the push up: (1) As push up handles, elevating your hands off the ground to extend the range of motion of the pushup; (2) Changing your hand position from flat on the ground to a grip position which improves wrist position resulting in less wrist trauma from a push up; (3) adding a rotation motion, which engages more arm muscles (most notably the biceps); and (4) Requiring a little more balance/core engagement, as the rotation movement throws you a little off balance.
The first comparison would be to the Zatorski's Pushup Pro device. I tried both out in a store before purchasing. Both worked well, but I believe the advantage goes to the Perfect Pushup (PP). The PP was higher, resulting in a wider range of motion; the PP seemed more sturdy; and the PP seemed to give a smoother rotation; the PP had padded handles for comfort--a minor issue really. I figured that I'd be using the device for some time and would want something I could stick with and would hold up. I'd advise going to a brick and mortar store and comparing them personally, as your preference might be different. On the other hand, if you want to take a set of these for travel, you'd do better to purchase the lighter weight option. (NOTE: both companies now produce models for travel with detachable handles. I haven't actually used these, so I can't really comment on their usability or durability. Also, both companies claim to have the 'inventor' of this type of device. I'm not touching this argument with a ten foot pole.)
It is no surprise that the device delivers--push ups on the whole deliver. What I can say, is that this modification on the push up really does squeeze more benefit out of a push up. It has all the advantages of a regular push up bar--that is, improved range of motion and better wrist position. The twisting action may also relieve some awkward pressure on the wrist. In any event, I am able to do more sets because of decreased strain and get more benefit from the push up with this device. There is definitely more biceps engagement and you can see the difference rather quickly. In fact, I am no push up savant, but was able to crank out 50 standard push ups. The first time I used the PP I was only able to do 30.
The poster outlines how to do the push up simply. This is not rocket science, but is reasonable. The poster guidelines are rational. It bases your workout on your personal max--you start by doing as many pushups on the PP (with good form) that you can. You then use their chart to determine your 'program'. This consists of three to four '2 minute drills' per day. A 2 minute drill is simply 3 or 4 sets of pushups done per day. They need not be done back to back. For example, if your max is 10 to 15 pushups, you do a 'ladder' consisting of 1 set of 8 pushups, 1 set of 6 pushups, 1 set of 4 pushups, and finally 1 set of 2 pushups. all within 2 minutes. Yes, that's 20 total. You do this every other day x 21 days and then reevaluate your max. If you can do more, say 20, you then dial up to the next set of 3 two minute drills. Using 'ladders' is not a new or innovative technique, but it is a rational way to exercise and improve your reps. I haven't explored the DVDs much, but the instructional one seems well put together and simply shows more variations on the pushup. There are also supplementary workouts on the DVD which I have not used. Simply doing the 2 minute drills has really helped a lot.
As to issues regarding injury, remember that you are still doing a push up. The handles decrease wrist stress but don't eliminate it. You can easily overdo your workout and experience muscle pain or kill your rotator cuff muscles. The bottoms of the device are padded with rubber so they do not slip easily, but you need to make sure that the handles will not slip on the floor surface before you start pumping. So, as with all exercise equipment, you really need to sense your limits and use common sense.
Finally, this is not the only kind of workout you need to do for full fitness. It primarily works the upper body and core, but does little for your lower body. It is not aerobic (unless you can crank out >20 minutes of pushups). And we also know that it can't possibly be the only exercise you need to do--the folks at Perfect Pushup have now developed the Perfect Pullup. That being said--and I said it before-- the push up is simply a great exercise and really gives you a lot of benefit. This device is deceptively simple but really does improve an already great exercise.
As an interesting addendum, there is a device out there called a 'Warrior Power T' which is sold by John E. Peterson at [...]. It is a push up handle atop what looks like an inverted bolt. This even simpler device likely works in a similar fashion to the PP, but throws off your balance even more as you have to balance the handles, twist, and do a push up at the same time. I haven't tried this one yet, but I imagine it makes the pushup an even more difficult task. (I'm not likely to try it anytime soon as it sports an incredibly high price tag. Looking at it, you might easily be able to make one yourself...)
Nice idea, but for most people who do not work out constantly, this may not help so much as you expected ... be sure to be able to make 50 standard pushup to take full advantage of this product ...
This only works well on floor, not as well on carpet. :)

Simple tool, simple review
They are solid. They rotate freely. I've used them in a gym with chalk in the area and the rotating mechanism hasn't gotten clogged / slower.
They are much more comfortable on your wrists than doing pushups on the ground. They allow you to lower yourself to the ground properly with your hands at your sides.
They're simple, and they work great.
The Perfect Pushup is the best compliment to my cardio routine because it completely works my entire upper body, not just my chest and shoulders. I love it!!

Be Careful - Can cause shoulder pain and rotator cuff damage
This product can cause you serious harm. Be careful. I hurt my right shoulder, probably rotator-cuff, fooling with this device. Do your homework on the internet. Go to youtube and look at WDSUTV's review of the perfect push-up. Dr. Corey Hebert says a traditional pushup does a better job of distributing weight throughout your body and lessens pressure on wrist and hands. He recommends that you not use this product if you have a pre-exisiting joint or rotator-cuff injury. You can find other information on the web. A lot of people experience shoulder pain from using this device. It's not worth the risk
Hi Everyone,
All I can say is wow! I've only been using this product for about a week, and initially didn't bother to read the materials, just basically started doing pus-ups. I found the perfect push-up comfortable and the motion natural, but wasn't overly impressed. At first I thought they felt a bit cheap, and the action wasn't as smooth as the demo floor models at the Costco I bought them at, but I figure those were probably broken in. I just started reading the materials and going through the workouts and now I'm really impressed with how much of a full workout I'm getting. I took their advice to first do as many pushups as I can with good form. I got 26, but didn't feel the last one was really good, so I went for 20 as my starting level. I tried to do the 2 minute drills after that, and my muscles reached failure before I could finish the set. Overall, it feels good though, not like I'm injuring myself. Doing the wide and narrow stances felt kinda bad on my injured shoulders, so I would exercise caution if you use this product with bad shoulders. I think if I'm careful, though, I should do alright.
It's rare for an exercise machine, or an exercise, to make me reach failure so soon. I really don't understand the biomechanics of these instruments. I would have thought that they would make pushups easier NOT harder. And yet, they are both harder and feel better than just doing regular pushups. I feel like I'm using muscles that are normally not worked out by pushups, and overall, I feel like I've done a full upper body workout on multiple machines. So far I highly recommend these. The box I have came with instructions and two, not one, but two DVDs. I can't imagine why I would want to watch them, but I will...maybe I'll learn something... but how many variations of pushups could there be?

Good idea - poor construction - better alternative
With nearly 300 5 star reviews, this might get lost in the shuffle. I don't write many reviews (this is my second), but I know I benefit from insightful reviews and feel strongly about this particular product.
Because of shoulder injuries, I am getting away from heavy bench pressing and going to more body-weight exercises like the pushup. The perfect pushup is really genius in marketing. It is a very good idea and the ads are very slick. My initial impression of the pushup handles was favorable - although most of the visible parts were plastic, they seemed pretty solid. The first time I used them one of the handles started popping and shifting. The rotating base seemed a bit bent, as though the torque from my weight on the wide set of pushups was too much for them (I weigh 166 lbs). That handle no longer turns freely. Perhaps this is just a defective handle - I did consider getting a replacement (although Amazon can't replace it - I would have to do a refund and buy a new set). However, I wonder how durable any of these would be. I will be sending these back, but in the meantime, I have used them a couple of weeks. In spite of the defect they still work for me since I don't rotate my hands anymore:
Pros -
As the ads say - it does increase range of motion
Ability to position or rotate hands to ease stress on joints
Is more challenging than regular pushups
The 2-minute drills are great workouts
Fairly portable
Cons -
Questionable durability
Seem unstable when doing wide pushups
I have now ordered an Atlas Push-up Bar from Easy Effort. I tried to submit this review with a URL for the Atlas Bar, but it was rejected by Amazon so you will have to google it as you cannot get these through Amazon. The Atlas bar is twice as expensive as the perfect pushup, but it is Mig welded, powder coated, and carries a money back and lifetime guarantee. The handles don't rotate, but after a week of using the Perfect Pushup, I stopped rotating my hands anyway. The rotating seems to aggravate my shoulder, so I just let my hands do what they wanted to do during the exercise. My hands naturally seem to move to the positions that the Atlas bar provides at each width.
I will update this review after I get the Atlas bar.

Perfect Pushup...
I have seen other reviews of people afraid since its plastic, let me give you the details on it. Yes each pushup piece is heavy duty plastic, that can hold anyone just about any weight...with ease, so do need be the slightest nervous about it breaking.
As for the techniqe, I agree that having the hands slide 45 degrees would be more natural according to how GOD made our bodies. I realy can't see so much real benefit from being able to push the round part 180' if you do, of course they stay to stop at 90 degrees, but there is no way to stop it then to stain you wrist each time, I am happy for the onces that found it perfect for them. Note: The customer service at this country is fantastic. Good luck with your workouts!! And remember at the end of the day, we all just want to be appreciated, loved and respected, so give it out freely to each other and lets create a better world one person, and one pushup at a time.

Simple and effective!!!
This is one of those "Why didn't I do that?" ideas, which usually characterizes the best inventions. I just got the $40 deal and didn't order anything else. They come with their own DVD and a little chart they shows hand position. I can see all sorts of adaptations for these. The best thing is that they are so portable. There's nothing worse than being on the road and not burning the energy off like we're used to doing. You can toss these and some workout shoes and clothes, and one of those abdomen wheels in a gym bag and you have a decent workout without a lot of hassle. The twist makes more difference than you might think. I like to row, so these should help that.
I just got them, but like the other guy says, you can tell it'll work out great as long as you keep at it. It's unbelievable to me how accurately these devices target the muscles most of us don't use every day. Even in construction and farm work, there are usually a few repeated motions and not that overall effect.
It's not often that we get exactly what's advertised. I guess I'm a little excited about it. It's actually not some cheap junk that with break up in 3 months, which seems to be the engine of the US (ie. Bush) economy the last 8 years.

Superb and Makes Working Out Fun
I am thoroughly satisfied with what I initially thought was an overpriced product. Very easy to use and definitely eliminates wasted effort doing my favorite exercise. I do 3 times as many push ups a day as I used to and it's only begun. The regimen poster it comes with is pretty clutch and I plan to implement it when I streamline my workouts. Overall I have no complaints and recommend this to anyone who wants to get a helluva lot more out of their push ups!
I bought these for the BF after he had seen them advertised on television. He really likes them, and they are worth the money. Pushups are much harder using these because they force you to be controlled and disciplined. You have to maintain good form in order to go through the natural rotating motion. I have bad wrists- even yoga makes me wince if I stay in a position too long. These take all the pressure off of the heels of my palms. We are thinking of getting his mother one of these since she has bad joints but does pushups every night to maintain muscle mass. I chose these over the cheaper version by that other guy because I had heard these rotate fluidly. I think jerking around while trying to do your pushups would be horrible for you.
Really excellent product. Follow the format and you're on your way to building a better body.

Deceptively challenging
Really an amazing product that delivers a terrific workout. I find the greater range of motion and non-existant wrist stress allows you to really bomb the pecs, shoulders and tri's. Put the handles between a pair of chairs and you can dip to your heart's content. Hindu's, dive-bombers, wide, narrow, reverse grip, feet elevated, anything is fair game and you can change it up so frequently that you'll never have a stale workout. Like any other routine or piece of equipment you will get out of it what you put into it. I would recommend these to anyone serious about their conditioning program.
