Rhythm & Romance

I like Kenny's music and this CD was not a disappointment. I've enjoyed every minute of it and would recommend it.

I had heard snipits of Kenny's new latin tunes and it sounded pretty good, but after listening to the entire CD it doesn't have enough latin salsa for my taste.

Rhythm & Romance puts you in the mood for relaxing, revitalizing, and rewinding after a long day. It's jazzy and fun. I use it for dinner music, happy hour grazing, brunch, or just listening. This is a great album for Kenny G fans because it combines a latin style with modern jazz and gives you a good feeling about music.

Kenny G's Rythym & Romance is exactly what the CD title is. He explores his caribbean style in such a smooth and romantic way, enough to make you dance and groove. I actually bought the CD for me and my boyfriend's 1 year "dating" anniversary. He's a pop rock musician and loved the CD.

Im far from a Kenny G fan, but another late night comin home from a ballgame , another 6 innings at 3rd base gig, tired and on an adrenaline journey I had to wait 30 minutes, parked in my Metro Atlanta driveway!


why?, this song reached out over WJZC and grabbed me by the collar sayin..."Hold on mon!! dis is a gateway tune!!! find out who this is, although Kenny's distinctive soprano sax shouldve alerted me.

Gateway indeed, up temp and pleasantly surprising moving me from that post game mood into a grab my babe, put on my dancin shoes, and Brasilia, here we come!!!

I could care less about the criticisms, the minutia or esoterica, by other reviewers of more "refined" jazz tastes.... these songs, individually, or collectively made me feel good, perhaps its cause my babe/lady/ wife is lightly latin and these songs got me ready to move n groove...

SAXOLOCO was the door opener for a pleasently refreshing, mood enhancing experience for me/us....

I bought this CD for my parents who love to ballroom dance. THEY LOVED THIS CD!!!!!!

When I saw and heard Kenny in person playing tracts from this album, I new I had to buy it. It is his best album yet!

There is not much more I can say than that this is simply an exemplary CD. The vicissitudes of great instrumental jazz and great Spanish love songs are brought together here. BRAVO, Kenny G! BRAVO!!!

Kenny G just keeps getting better & better with each cd. His arrangments of each song are awesome. He,s one of the most talented sax players iv heard in years. Id say go out & buy this cd right away you,ll be glad you did.

Excellent new album from Kenny G. Fresh light jazz with a Latin theme.
New material and new label with good audio engineering.

Excellent work. Latin jazzy touch add a great tone to the whole project.Some pieces are a bit too long but deffinately not boring.
"Peruvian nights" track is performed in a unique way and only this piece is a good reason for someone to buy the cd

I saw his interview on the Sunday Morning Show, I was amazed to learn about his achievements and his sense of community and humbleness. This album is by far the best I've heard from him and perhaps because of my latin background I can relate to the sounds, lyrics and rhythms. Great musical creation, love to listen to this cd. It's nice, smooth, and is everything that the artist is: Just Exceptional!!!

Rhythm and Romance is pretty inventive, and it melds that soprano sax with Latin music very well. I have always been a fan, but I didn't listen to his CDs for awhile until I went to his 3/14/08 concert. In short, the guy can play mean jazz on that sax. He knows that people make fun of his stuff, so he makes sure that you know he is good by playing next to you in the aisle, and in the balcony as well. The guy is THAT good. Make sure you see him during 2008's tour for Rhythm & Romance. I saw David Sanborn last year & he played for 30 minutes, took a break, and played for another 30 minutes. I know Sanborn is a serious jazz king on his type of saxophone, but when people pay money to see ya, you should be playing for 2 hours straight (like Kenny G).

We think that this is one of Kenny G's greatest cds ever, my wife constantly plays this cd all the time. The cuts are enchanting.

First off, let me say that Kenny G has been one of my biggest influences in music and I've been a fan of his material since I was very little. I've never been disappointed upon purchasing a Kenny G album, his music takes me to another world. Regardless of what the stuck up critics say, Kenny is truly awesome. His form of musical expression is something that cannot be denied. The overall feel of this album is wonderful, Kenny has done it yet again.

It's great to hear Kenny G outside of an elevator! I love the Latin tunes - just the right amount of spice you can dance to as well as chill out with.

Another Excellent Album, if you like a perfect seasoning of the Latin sound - and then a mix of the brilliance of the remarkable sound of Kenny G's Jazz Sax and voilà - there it is - This is the Album to get your self! Do yourself something good today, you deserve it - BUY this Kenny G Album, you won't be disappointed!

The title of the CD is Rhythm & Romance and the music that plays is exactly that. From the first catchy notes of Sax-o-loco to the last notes of Salsa Kenny, the music does not let you go until it's over. But by then, you can't wait to start over again. All the selections are outstanding but there are personal favorites. The stand out selections for me are Cope de Amor, Sabor A Mi, Besame Mucho, Brasilia, Sax-o-loco and of course, Ritmo y Romance. I could listen to these selections over and over again which I have done since I downloaded the CD from Amazon MP3 downloads.

I am glad that Kenny left Arista for Starbucks entertainment so he could follow his dream of making the kind of music that he wants to record instead of being told what to record. He has more freedom in writing music that sounds good and it shows how much he has grown musically over the years.

For those interested in listening to similar genre of music from Kenny G, I would recommend buying/listening to Classics in the Key of G. It's not widely available but it's an outstanding CD that has a collection of jazz classics that influenced him during his younger days as a learning musician.

Lastly, I've been listening to Kenny G since his days as guest soloist in an instrumental titled "She likes to Watch" from the Rippingtons Moonlighting CD in the early 80's. He is a great musician who has managed to stay in the realm of quality jazz music all through the years. I'm looking forward to more beautiful music from him.

Just got this CD today and even on the first spin around I fell in love. It is so great to have a Kenny G album with original music instead of covers or a greatest hits album. This album is wonderful...my toddler and I danced to most of these songs in the kitchen for most of the day. THanks for another great CD Kenny!!! Janis

I absolutely love this CD!! Unlike so many "Smooth Jazz" CDs packed with pointless mediocre songs that riff on endlessly - "Rhythm and Romance" is full of songs that have instantly memorable melodies that capture you right away - I find myself humming many of them throughout the day. If you want a CD that has great song after great song, impecable rich production value, stellar performances and an overall romantic, uplifting, almost hypnotic mood, this is the CD for you. Bravo Kenny!!

Kenny G is not only a derivative corporate creation, he is the McDonald's of Jazz. Kenny G does not add to the genre, he detracts. If you want to hear jazz, listen to John Coltrane, Thelonious Monk, Miles Davis or anyone before 1970 for that matter.
His music is uninspired, unoriginal and cheesy. His melodies are weaker than weak. His tone is for dental offices. This is muzak for the prozac nation.

Absolutely FABULOUS CD. I was blown away and I'm not a Kenny G fan. But the music..the music takes you away. It's romantic, fluid, sensuous and many songs have an irrestible beat to which you can't sit still. Pure Rapture!

Great CD - however it took a week to get it - even with a pre-order.
I will not pre-order again - I'd rather get in my car and get it the day it comes out. Amazon has lost me with CD's

Kenny G has become synonymous with the alto saxophone. For many years he has entertained us with his sexy, sometimes mystical sound. A song that immediately comes to mind that embodies his overall sound, is Songbird, from many years ago.

This cd is hot. Some of the Best latin jazz artists partake on this session with amazing results. Bravo to Kenny on this one!

Kenny Gorelick, known as Kenny G is a pure instrumentalist jazz artist who broke into the charts long ago...
For those who are unfamiliar, Kenny's music is mainly instrumental and performed on the soprano saxophone (with occasional diversions onto tenor), although this album, along with most of his other mainstream albums contains a couple of vocal numbers, this time in a soul-latino style.
Whilst many would have him classified as a producer of "elevatot muzak", one can only wonder at his undoubted ability and musicality whether or not one actually likes his commercial music.
Kenny has mastered the art of producing hummable tunes that get stuck in your head and yet, at the same time, are wonderfully relaxing and enveloping in one swoop.
One cannot fail to feel just ever-so-slightly sentimental when listening - a rare accomplishment for something that is essentially background music.
Kenny's often described as a jazz musician but whilst one could (and probably should) argue that this is far from jazz, there is still the kind of soulful, relaxed air about each piece that will occasionally produce a slight spine shiver if the ambient mood is right.
"Rhythm and Romance is a unique combination of rich Samba, Salsa and Bossa Nova love songs anchored by Kenny's intoxicating and signature saxophone melodies.

With this album Kenny G has signed a new deal with Starbucks Entertainment and Concord Records, breaking a very long artistic 'relationship' with Arista, with which he has started recording since his 1982 self-titled debut.
His final release for the label was the 2006's rather bland I'm in the Mood For Love...The Most Romantic Melodies of All Time, which nonetheless debuted at No.1 on Billboard's Top Contemporary Jazz chart.
