Highly Recommend
Purchased this storage box for our ski boat, perfectly fits in the space to keep lots of extra boat items neat, clean and dry. Lid fits tight and it is light weight to lift out to clean.
I have the 24-gal model. I use it for camping trips- throw all kinds of gear in there, lash it down in the bed of my truck, and take off. Also doubles as bench around the campfire.

Durable, BEST Quality
I bought this on a whim when I was in college in Boston, MA and I was pleased to find that it wasn't shipped on its own. Amazon was caring enough to "box the box" when shipping it to my dorm. I bought this because I couldn't find a decent storage container at Target, Home Depot, and Lowe's at the time (will never step foot in a Wal-Mart). I came across this nice looking container to use when driving from MA to CO over summer break to go back home. Though it stayed in my car the whole time, I was please to know that I wouldn't have any loose items in my car. This is not your standard container. I LOVE it, and will keep it forever. It is GREAT for keeping fragile items safe when traveling. If you have more than one (I have two), you will find that they go great together since the tops and bottoms are molded so that they stack nicely. They also have very strong red latches that keep the thick lid in place. In fact, the latches come with locking holes for security. Overall, GREAT QUALITY!

Organization, durability
Purchased for bro-in-law for use of storing hunting gear. Is great product, can store all items in one place for next year. Durable construction; can stand on the box w/o fear of collapsing. Good product.
I use two of these for all my camping, cooking and fishing supplies. They work great! I only wish they locked when stacked a little better, but the internal space works great. They are rugged and can fit most large cast iron products.
We have 2 older Rubbermaid 1172 storage boxes that we purchased by in the 1990's for our camping equipment. We still have those but needed 2 more. We are very pleased with them, have enough room for our clothes, food, cooking and camping equipment. Also can sit on them.

An almost perfect container
Works well. Locks well. Stays dry well. The only thing that could be improved would be to use a heavier-weight plastic; the bottom corners can dent a bit. Otherwise, it's a great container and is my "go to" packing item.
For transport or storage these can't be beat. I use them for power tool storage and another for camping stuff,

Rain-proof storage solution
We purchased two Action Packer cargo boxes to fit on our Valley Cargo Carrier. The 48-gallon and the 32-gallon boxes fit perfectly side-by-side on the carrier. We expected the boxes to be rain-proof and waterproof, and they do not disappoint. We have driven thru heavy rain with driving wind with these babies, and everything inside was a dry as could be - not a drop of moisture inside. We leave them outside when we camp, through some severe thunderstorms and still no rain gets in. They fit our purpose perfectly.
We did not purchase the cargo boxes from Amazon; our local Wal-Mart had much better pricing in the automotive department.
If you want to add wheels, the 48-gallon model has drill-out spots for attaching casters. Personally, I don't want to do that because I want to keep the integrity of the water tight properties intact, and I don't want wheels on the cargo carrier. But it is certainly an option for those who want it, and looks pretty easy to accomplish.
So why 4 stars instead of 5? The handles. I wish that the handles were deeper or perhaps had folding handles. The boxes are difficult to carry when heavily packed. I might try to drill out holes to add rope handles, but that water tight issue has stopped me so far. Other than that one detail, these cargo boxes are perfect for us.

Rubbermaid Action Cargo Box - 48 gallon
I would have given this 5 stars if it was not so difficult for one person to life, as the handles are very far apart. I ended up adding some rope loops where the handles are located and now it is much easier to pick up. Other than that, the box itself is sturdy, roomy, and functional.

ActionPacker- a reliable shelter for my stuffs
The box is just that. A kind of shelter to all my delicate electronic devices.
I use it indoor, but I have no doubt it can be outdoor too.
I recently found it, in a garage sale. For about $ 20, it was a deal.
Features: big interior space, made with hard material, and serve as an extra chair.
I strongly recommend Rubbermaid, and specially these boxes.

Great sturdy storage
This Action packer is the third one I have purchased - it was for a family member for checked baggage for an overseas flight (the dimensions are exactly the maximum dimensions for checked baggage - I wonder how that happened......) Anyway, the airlines lost the Action packer for a week, but they couldn't break it - everything got there in great order. I have had other Action packers for over 10 years, and they are still going strong. If you need strong durable storage - this is it!

The best container ever!
ActionPackers are great containers for camping. We use ours for car camping as well as canoe camping. It fits perfecting in a boat. Although it is not waterproof (don't submerge), it definitely keeps out the rain. The ActionPacker has plenty of room for all your camping needs. It is solid and closes securely. I have both this size and the smaller one. Highly recommended.

You'll love this TOUGH action cargo box!
I bought two of these cargo boxes for storing tools. The tools are tough so I needed more than a wimpy rubbermaid tub with weak wheels like I found in the stores in our area. Some of them were large enough, but none begin to match the sturdy, durable quality of these boxes. Even the lid is sturdy and tough. If someone sat on it it or threw a piece of heavy equipment on it I wouldn't be worried it would collapse. It definitely takes two people to carry them. Very roomy. I have an air compressor, skill saw and tons of other stuff in one. Could easily handle a couple hundred pounds. More than I would hope for. They'll last forever! Worth every penny!
I use Action packers of several types in my work, as environmental enclosures for electronic equipment. They are reasonably priced, nest for shipping, and shed water from the lid. They hold up well in weather for over two years & do not deteriorate in sunlight. I've used well over 200 over the years. They used to cost about $12USD !! Oh, well.

Great Storage Container
This is my second ActionPacker because it is a very useful storage container. I store my camping gear and emergency supplies in it. I take it when I go camping because it is extremely rugged and doubles as camping bench/table. It is made of lightweight material so the container by itself is not heavy. The lid is strong and durable. The latch provides an opening so that a padlock can be used for security/safety. Although, the latch is made of hard plastic so if someone really wanted to open the unit they'd find a way or I imagine they could just pick it up and take it. So, for added security it would be nice if the unit had some external handles or tie-downs for a security cable, but it doesn't. The unit is a decent size, but also fits in the back seat of my 4-door Saturn. The container, as far as I can tell, does not provide an air/water tight seal when closed, but when the latch is close does provide a firm seal. Overall, a great container and I would buy it again.

I wish every product were as good as the ActionPacker
I've been using ActionPackers for hunting gear for at least 5 years with great success. The boxes usually ride in an open ATV trailer behind my truck and have proven to be rugged and weather tight. My ActionPackers are always packed and ready to go for the next hunting or camping trip.
Because they stack so nicely, I plan to replace all of my other plastic storage boxes with these.
The only downside to these boxes is that you cannot see what's in them until you open the box, so some sort of labeling system is useful.
I use these for camping gear, and they are perfect. Sturdy, easy to carry (unlike the larger models), stackable, and waterproof. I even use them as an extra chair... try doing that with any other storage container. I highly recommend these.

Ideal Container for Indoor/Outdoor Use
I was in search for storage on the tongue of my trailer. It's a long story but the usual storage boxes for trailer tongues don't fit my trailer.
The containers are lightweight but durable. They seem to be water-tight, at least from road spray on rainy days.
I cant imagine what else I could need!

Rubbermaid Action Packers
The item arrived in a timely manner and was exactly what was pictured. The total price with shipping was the cheapest price I found anywhere on-line. Very happy with the purchase.
The Rubbermaid Action Packer is not rain proof or water proof. The latches create an easy path for rain to come in and wet the contents.
Except for that serious flaw the Action Packer is sturdy, and has convenient latches. I would not buy this for camping or other outdoor use.

Outstanding Product
I needed a durable, waterproof container to transport my tools and general handyman items. During Tropical Storm Fay, I drove from Florida to Tennessee in constant rain, heavy at times. These containers were strapped to a "hitch buddy", a trailer mounted metal cargo carrier. Not one drop of water entered either of the container. I checked out other similar containers, but the Rubbermaid Action packer is clearly top of line.

Economic Way to Store and Protect Goods
I bought a dozen of these trunks 10 years ago to store my belongings and move them easily. I still have those trunks today. They have been shipped across the world and are still in good condition. Of course some have dents in the bottom from shipping, but they are still usable.
Now these boxes are in my shed storing various things. I have over a 100 pounds of books in many of them. These things are waterproof and bug proof. You can even lock them though it takes 2 locks. If you are going to lock it go with this trunk, because the other model that has only 1 latch is easy to "pop" the lid out..
The trunk's price has gone up from $20 at Super Kmart 10 years ago , but the trunk is well worth the price to store all the "junk" you just can't throw away. It definitely deserves 5 starts.
This is an excellent storage container. Durable, sturdy, tough, keeps water out, the lid stays on well being locked in place by the handles. I've owned one for years and bought several more recently for storage in a damp, dirty basement. I really like how touch the containers are and the fact that you can lock them with a padlock if you want (although it requires 2 padlocks per container at this size). Of the three sizes offered, this size is my favorite because it is large enough to hold a lot but more manageable if you need to carry them around.
Works well as most Rubbermaid products seem to do. It is waterproof and is great for storing stuff on my open trailer.

Decent Cheap, Stackable storage containers
I bought four of these for $27 each at Home Depot. I carry them in the back of my pickup truck when I need tools and toss them in the garage when I don't need them. It makes it easy to load my truck in a hurry.
What I like about them.
1. They will stack with the lid on.
2. They nest inside each other when empty
3. Lid is fairly sturdy--you can sit on one if you are careful.
4. Having a bunch of them, means they all are the same height if you want to build a platform.
5. With the lid on they are waterproof.
6. Locking handles have a solid secure feel to them.
7. With only one handle locked it act like a hinge--you can open it from one side.
8. You can write on the lids with a Sharpie pen.
9. Good size for lifting and carrying. I've had something similar but larger and found it was too hard to lift when loaded. These are a good size.
What I didn't like.
1. One had a damaged handle. I was going to return it, but they were out. I can repair it with a drill and a cotter pin--so I decided to keep it anyway.
2. Hard to find more locally.
I'd buy more of these if I could find them. I use them to sort tools and activities by type. For example, I use one for power tools, one for fiberglass materials, one for general tools. I'd like one for camping gear.
I'd give it five stars except for the one defective one I purchased. Functionally they are excellent. I'd recommend buying them locally and carefully inspecting them to be sure you have ones that are defect free.

Great for scouts!
My son used this for his weeklong scout trip this summer and despite the rigors of scout camp and an 11 year old beating up on it, the action packer came back looking like new.
These are great for storage. I do wish that the tops were a little more secure.
I use actionpackers for professional work in wild remote areas of Africa. They are light and extremely strong, offering perfect protection to fragile items. They do not crush after 2 trips like old fashion, heavy metal trunks.
From time to time, however, a handle can break, and that's the end of it, because you can't lock your actionpacker anymore. But it does happen after a lot of use and generally because of overweight.

Amazon does not have these in stock
I ordered about 75 of these for my company in January of '07. When I ordered they said it was in stock and gave me free shipping. It became April, and the shipping date was pushed back 4 times. Calling customer service, I learned that Amazon had not received the items from the vendor yet. So, Amazon, what does "In Stock" mean?
If you ask me, they screwed up when they gave me free shipping accidentally and postponed the ship date so I would cancel the order.

Tough little boxes!
I have two of these boxes, both purchased from K-Mart several years apart, each one was 20 bucks. The first one I picked up in Tallahassee in 1993 to throw in the back of my pickup for extra storage. It is now 2006, some 13 years later, and that first box is still in great condition even after traveling thousands of miles all over the southeast in the back of four different pickups over the years. The only thing noticeable about the physical appearance of both boxes is the sun will quickly fade the red handles to a whitish-pink.
These are tough boxes, but for some reason hard to find in the store any more.
I most definitely recommend this box. I would be nice if it had wheels, though.
Yes, it's just a bin. But it's brought so much happiness to my life, I just had to share. I live in a smallish 1-bd apt in downtown San Francisco. This tough little bin allowed me to free up a ton of space in my coat closet by giving me a more-or-less weather proof storage solution for my balcony. Now all of my tools and supplies have a neat home outside! Go Rubbermaid!

Great for airline travel
I use these instead of luggage and I have NEVER had anything break inside. I have carried ceramics and glass items. These are great and sturdier than the Contico trunks, they bruise and sometimes the hinges are damaged if they take a direct hit, these Action Packers don't have that problem since the lid comes completely off. The plastic is also sturdier than the Contico trunks.
The only disadvantage is that they don't have wheels and you have to rely on carts at the airport if you use them as luggage but most if not all airports have carts. As you can tell I am a big fan of these things. They are becoming harder to find. Wal-Mart no longer carries the 24 gallon size (the one that meets the luggage dimension requirements) and only the Greatland Targets have them sporadically. You won't be disappointed if you get one and they last "forever" (I've never had one rupture/break/crack). Just in case you're wondering, no I am not a Rubbermaid employee but I am very happy with this product of theirs.
Just the right size for airline luggage size requirements, durable, waterproof, and also can be locked.
