Samsung LN32A450 32-Inch 720p LCD HDTV

My 2nd Samsung TV. Delivery was ahead of schedule and installation was done as promised. Samsung is the best. Will buy all my electronics from Amazon. Amazon & Samsung are #1!!!

I mounted this LCD on a wall. It looks great and the picture is excellent. The LCD has the correct supports in the rear for mounting. Also, duplicate input/output connections on the SIDE and REAR for cable, etc., makes it real convenient.
Amazon price was best I could find - $50-100 less than the big box stores and NO tax. LCD ordered on Sunday - delivered on Thursday !!! Strongly recommend.

The TV required some simple assembly but was ready to hook up in under ten minutes. Hook up was only complicated by feeding the cables through my cabinet. The picture is astounding! I shopped this brand for about four months and am very happy with the purchase.
We have HD satellite and are always laughing at how much "worse" CSI (and all the others) is now that we can see all the grisly details with a clarity that makes us cringe. Can hardly wait to view some really seriously gory "splatter" film just for the heck of it!

I purchased the Samsung LCD HDTV yesterday from our most respected appliance dealer here in Long Island, New York. In the store the TV had the most varied and interesting features and I would say the best picture quality at any price point I compared. Samsung is a trusted name in electronics with a sound history of dependability. I would advise my readers of being watchfull for any problems or issues in attaching the TV to a fitting designed for a TV cart. In my case I was unable to achieve a snug fitting after many telephone calls to Samsung customer service. I will now have to attempt an exchange with the appliance dealer or Samsung. Absent this possibly isolated although uncomfortably too common issue amongst TV manufactuers, I would stll say include this TV in your shopping evaluations. If this issue changes in content, I will be happy to amend my review with subsequent comment.

I have bought two samsung tv's a 61" Led HLT6187S and a 32" LN32A450C. The 61" quit working 1 week after I bought it and the 32" didn't even make it 8 hours after it was purchased. I will never buy anything that is made by samsung again. JUNK!!!

I did a LOT of research before choosing this TV. I read every single review here...and about 1,000 others for other TVs. We just got ours two days ago. We are supposed to have cable hooked up to it today and have been using a DVD upconvertor ($39 Phillips @ Costco) and wow does it look great!! I am anxious to try out the channel functions too.
We turned the backlighting down to "3" (not sure if that is down far enough) so as not to shorten the life of the TV. We have it set on standard mode, which after all our lives on regular TVs...it is still a vast improvement.(Dynamic mode was BRIGHT! and actually bothered my eyes after a short time).
We were surprised that after setting the picture to 16:9 all "widescreen" movies didn't fill up the entire screen, that some still had the black on the top and bottom (in some cases really skinny viewing that was annoying). We thought the point of getting a TV like this was to view those types of formats better. We ended up putting it on "just scan" and many of our movies fill most of the screen. Sometimes we used the zoom feature on the DVD player. Then again, maybe something in our TV set up was wrong and it could fill the whole screen if we did it right.
I expected setting up the screws on the stand to be a bit difficult, but it wasn't, once we figured out how to point it the right direction. Tip: our base woouldn't swivel until we got the connector and the TV attached...then it swiveled just fine. We tried for quite a while to get the thing in the base to turn so it was lined up to the front of the base correctly...it was a waste of time. Once we resigned ourselves to just turning the base to the angle necessary for viewing and finished setting up the stand...then it worked! Getting the screws in so that the TV is level, seems to be much easier if someone holds the TV straight while the screws are being screwed in by another person. Ours was perfect the first time.
I was curious what "weak" meant on the sound. Now I think I understand. The SRS is audible, but not a huge difference between that and what we have had before. Some difference, just not a huge difference like I expected. However, the sound is not at all "bad", and is plenty good enough for us. Still get chills when the THX logo comes up... just like the theatre.
The whiteglove service wasn't all it was cracked up to be, I didn't think. Someone did deliver and he did plug the TV in and make sure the picture and sound worked before letting me sign off on the paperwork. I think it would have worked the same or better sending it through UPS or something, turning it on ourselves, and probably getting it a few days sooner.
I am concerned about cleaning. The only instructions given are on the cloth, spraying it with water and wiping down the housing. No information on cleaning the screen. I broke down and bought some LCD TV screen cleaner by Monster (oh my gosh - $25!!!) from Best Buy....but am nervous about using it and possibly damaging the anti-glare coating or causing some other problem. The screen isn't dirty yet, so I have a little bit of time to decide if I will use the cleaner or not.
Overall...we love it! Of course, my husband and I looked at each other during our first viewing and both said, "Wish we could have gotten a bigger one", but this one will do quite well for our small living room and limited budget. We were looking for quality first and foremost. We didn't want to spend this much money and not be happy with the TV and its performance. So far...so very good :)

This is a really good performing TV set. Good clear pictures with bold bright colors. What else can I say, other than to recommend it to anyone who wants a great performing HDTV with a low price tag.

Love this TV. Easy took less than 4 minutes for cable. No accessories necessary and the picture is great. No regrets. Also delivery was the best. He offered to set it up also opened the box went thru inventory and made sure nothing was broken or missing....Terrific all the way

Just an amazing TV... well worht every penny. I have had this tv for a month now and just love it!! I would highly recomend this TV or in fact any Samsung TV!!

My wife wanted a flat screen t.v. for her birthday. I had already researched some, so I knew what the reviews were. I checked prices online and Amazon's price was the best overall, when taking into consideration their safe and reliable reputation.

It arrived earlier than expected. I assembled the stand, and switched out our cable box for an hd cable box. I adjusted the sound and picture so very slightly. Seeing the picture on an hd channel is like looking through a window. Amazing ! Now my wife wants us to buy a bigger one for Christmas:)

This has been one of the best purchases that I have ever made. This product lives up to all of its hype and then some.
For instance, the TV picks up 'movie channels' and other HD channels that I have never paid for, nor will pay for. How this process happens, I have no idea. The computer program in the TV has a mind of its own, absolutely unbelievable!!!

We are not technophiles, but this TV appears to meet our needs at a fabulous price. Easy to use, good clarity and color contrast. Can't beat delivery service.

I purchased the TV for $599 on amazon. The picture is crystal clear without calibration, but should be slightly tweaked for optimal viewing. The only qualm I have with the TV is that it takes about 5-7 seconds to power up. Not a fatal flaw since most new TVs take about 3-5 seconds, but still annoying.

Bought this for our family room which has limited space, so 32" was max size we could go for. Price was excellent. Add savings with free shipping and no sales tax and the total cost was significantly under best local pricing (Think $100-$200 under big box store sale prices). Estimated ship time was 11 calendar days; arrived in 6 (4 business days).
Have had it for about 3 wks now, connected to HD Cable via Scientific Atlanta 8300 HD DVR. Our viewing distances are about 4-8 ft with seating in about a 90 degree arc. The space is well lit with 8ft glass doors on the opposite wall and windows on adjacent and rear wall. Reflections off the screen are minimal; way better than the 27" standard tube TV it replaced. The LCD is very bright and has no problem coping with the room during daylight hours. Off-axis viewing is very good. At our viewing distances and at this screen size, 720P is all you need and I cannot imagine that I'd see a difference at 1080P in this size class unless you used it for high speed gaming up close. HD is spectacular and even std definition comes across well once the TV is setup properly. At some point, I'll take the time to calibrate the color, but right now I am just happy to sit back and enjoy as is.
Connect it with an HDMI cable if your sources have that available. For one, it's easier - just one connection and secondly, it enables more automation for automatically handling different source signals. I bought my HDMI cables separately and didn't see a dramatic difference on video when I switched from the original analog connections, but I hadn't finished getting everything set up when I did the switch. The audio made a huge jump though in quality and I had to turn the volume down significantly on HDMI when played through the TV speakers. The TV internal speakers are just OK - They really expect you to run this through a good quality HT or other home audio system. If you use the internal speakers as I do most of the time, try the SRS setting - It's not bad. For movies, I pipe things through my home audio system which is incomparably superior. Don't spend a lot of $$ on the HDMI cables. $10.00 max is already pushing the boundaries. I'm an Audiophile with some $$ invested in my analog connections, but also a design engineer in the high tech world. Those high priced digital cables in the retail stores absolutely, positively, will not test out any better than the cheap cables under 3 meters long.
My one complaint after 3 weeks? On its stand, the set is not perfectly level. From left to right it is tilted about 1/4". So far no one else who has been in our home has noticed.

Very good, I'm happy i spent the extra couple of bucks for the samsung over the off-brand. picture quality is great, so are the speakers. currently it doubles as a computer monitor and a tv and does equally well

THIS IS MY FIRST LCD TV.... AND BECAUSE OF THIS TV.. I WILL MORE THAN LIKELY PUT LCD'S OF LIKE VALUE IN OTHER ROOMS.. HOWEVER.. SHIPPING WAS FAST IT WAS ALMOST CONFUSING... There is absolutely nothing I can say bad about this tv, and is the best sub 1000 dollar 32 incher I've ever seen before, and when calibrated it competes with a lot of even higher end models. You WILL NOT be disappointed.

Unbelievable buy. No shipping costs and no sales tax. I saved over $200.00. If I would have bought at a retail store,I would have had to pay 9.7 percent sales tax plus a hundred dollars more. If you have a 32 inch or lower you cannot tell the difference between 720P or 1080. This was easy to install and I love the picture.

I ordered this Samsung online after shopping locally. I saw displays but had trouble finding it in stock. I saved about $100.00 online as opposed to my local Walmart. The picture quality is excellent and I have seen no drawbacks so far. The "white glove" delivery process was great. It was brought to my home, set up for me, and checked for damage, 3 days after I placed my order with Amazon. I am extremely pleased.

By the time you pay sales tax on the lesser brands, you are within $50 of this Samsung model on Amazon. I had two of the box store brands in my possession prior to the Samsung long enough to make an evaluation. This is an excellent HDTV. From picture clarity to sound to hook-ups to menus to remote to classy looks, the Samsung is clearly superior in every way. Unless the $50 or so difference is critical to feeding the family, don't settle for less.

My first HDTV, and I love it. I read all the info online about how you can't see the difference at 10' between 480p and 720p, but you certainly can tell. The over-the-air couldn't find any channels without attaching an antenna (one of the cheapo ones), but with it I get 21 channels, 10 or so of which are HD. I got it through warehouse deals (subsidiary of amazon) and saved a lot on the tv by purchasing one with a damaged box, so if you don't care how the shipping box looks, check it out there.

After spending a couple of hours at Best Buy,HH Gregg and Costco, I carried this tv home.$700 at Costco with 3 yr warranty.Looks like Amazon will ship it free for $650.It has the built in tuner, so it is a plug and play.Pick up most channels I need in HD without a convertor box.The picture is about as crisp as you could hope for.No glare and no bad seat for viewing.Sound is more than adequate.In the large living room I see no need for external speakers.I was down to the Vizo,sony and this one.I made the right choice.100% satsified, which is rare for me.

I recently purchased the Samsung LN32A450 32 inch LCD TV. The picture is beautiful and Amazon sold me the TV for a good, fair price. I am very satisfied.

We are thrilled with our purchase of the HDTV from Amazon.com. Customer service and delivery were excellent. I tracked the delivery all along the way. The television offers a picture which is even clearer than we had imagined. Never have we enjoyed watching the evening news any more. We wall-mounted the TV and swivel it in the dining area of our kitchen so that it can be viewed as we are working in the kitchen itself. Wall-mounting was a great idea. We find that we are able to pick up numerous HD channels which we were not expecting.
We saved a couple hundred dollars because we did our homework. Several representatives in stores we visited recommended the Samsung to us. We are absolutely delighted with it in every way!

It is what I expected in terms of style, color, and functionality. It is a great product and will recommend to friends. Also, Amazon logistics is great that I received my item earlier than was expected.

First Samsung product I have purchased. It was so easy to set up. Great picture. Everything it was advertised to be.

I've had this TV for about 4 months now and so far so good. I use this as my bedroom TV and I find it to be near perfect. It is mounted on my wall using the Premier AM2 mount, also very highly recommended. It is hooked up to an HD DVR cable box and a DVD/VCR combo player.

Pros: HD channel picture quality excellent, standard picture quality very good, good deal for what you get, attractive design, easy setup, customizable controls (which i haven't really played around with much yet), VESA 200x200 mounting pattern (one of the most common), ease of overall use, picture quality very good when watching sports and movies

Cons: like many of the non-top-ofthe-line Samsung TVs this one suffers in the sound department. it isnt horrible, but the quality just isn't there. there is also an occasional humming noise when you first turn on the tv. i have seen this with other samsung tvs I've owned (this is my 3rd), and it goes away after a few minutes of it being on. others have experienced the same issue. i think samsung will fix it if it bothers you or gets worse.

overall, this tv is perfect for a small room. you do not need 1080 for a tv under 46in, so in the 32in size range this is the one to get. i plan on getting another samsung lcd (the ln52a650) as soon as the price drops a bit more, so i recommend the brand as well as the tv.

I thoroughly researched 32" HDTV's and hands down this had the best reviews. I was not disappointed when it came. The picture is beautiful,even perfect, and I just have an antena. With an antena in the Atlanta area we get over 20 stations! The "white glove" treatment was exceptional -- he even moved the shelf up a notch for me on the entertainment center, which was no easy task since it was full of stereo equipment. I would have paid much more in stores, seeing I didn't have to pay shipping and tax. I saved over 100 dollars going Amazon instead of my local stores. I ordered on Friday and it came on Thursday of the next week. There have been alot of complaints about sound, but the sound is plenty loud for us. Great product!!

Excellent picture, easy setup, enough input connectors for digital cable TV converter, X-Box 360, and DVD player, decent audio, and good value for money.

I really wanted to like the LN32A450. It looked great when I saw it in a store. My problem with the TV is related to the misaligned swivel stand that came with it. The stand requires some assembly. The holes that would accommodate the screws were misaligned such that the TV would not have been setting straight-on. A neck-piece that fits over the center of the stand kept popping out of place. Even after we inserted the next piece over-top of the neck, the neckpiece refused to line-up flush with the base of the stand. Further, the stand showed no indication that it would swivel. It was set in place at a bad angle. My wife and I worked on it for a long while, then gave up. We returned the Samsung LN32A450 and bought a Sony KDL-32M4000 in its place. No problems assembling the Sony. If you can't set up the TV to watch it, it doesn't matter how good the picture might be.

This is my second Widescreen LCD set (my first being a chintzy 17" model from Memorex).

Amazon does not deliver to Puerto Rico so I had to purchase mine from Circuit City in Ponce.

My criteria? I hate televisions which have an "on" light while the set is on. How retarded! I can see the television is on because the screen is on. Why do I need another idiot light below the screen to tell me it's on! Dee-dee-dee! The "idiot" light on this set is lit when the set is off. The light goes off when the set is turned on. Ok...I'm game.

Then I compared the image on this set to the other models within it's size and price range. No comparison! This set had a better picture than many others at up to $300 higher.

Took it home and I am a happy camper. I love the new version of Battlestar Galactica and I am in absolute Sci-Fi heaven! BSG is friggin' gorgeous on this set!

Minor draw back, not the televisions fault. I have Dish Network and FOX news looks like total Doo-Doo! I thought the set was bad and was ready to return it. But viewing other channels and in particular, DVD's... it's not the set but the signal.

I am loving this set more and more.

I can't get over the picture quality of this TV. I have a 42" panansonic plasma in the living room but insist on watching TV in my son's room instead. Love the features although the sound is normal.
I saw the ratings on CNET and compared the TV to its competitors and saw the difference. Go ahead and buy this TV and you will not regret it.

I bought this TV to go into a long and narrow bedroom, 20' x 12'. First I thought the 32" was the right size but after mounting it in the room I found that I could have gotten a 37". So the moral of this story is upsize your TV for the room. I also bought a 46" TV for my family room last year that now I wish I had a 52". One thing to keep in mind is a flat screen TV is typically going to be shorter than your current tube TV, but it will be wider. Setting up the TV couldn't have been easier. Plugged it in and hooked up the High Definition cable box. After talking with Comcast to activate the HD everything was done. I did adjust the TV settings slightly like changing the sound and picture quality from Dynamic to movie but that is it. If you are looking for a smaller TV you can't go wrong. This TV is 720P and my TV in the family room is 1080P, but I haven't noticed any picture difference. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is the sound is not as good as my other TV. It is fine for the bedroom but if you are going to use this for movies you will want to hook it up to a surround sound system.

I can't say anything more about this TV that the other reviewers haven't said so I'll just repeat what is in the title. This is a great TV at a great price. Just make sure you get a VESA 200mm x 200mm adapter plate if you plan on using a wall mount.

After doing a lot of internet research, read a lot of reviews and customer opinions, I decided to buy this TV, and I'm absolutely delighted with it. I have a PS3 hooked up to it, and I have Comcast basic cable. The picture quality is hilarious, for PS3 games as well as for blu-ray and DVD movies, HD channels as well as standard definition channels. The sound is very decent. After hooking up the TV and doing the channel search, dozens of HD channels were found even though I only have basic cable. The default setup works great for me, so I haven't tried to change any of it yet. So I can't tell ho easy or complicated it is to do picture or sound setup or change channel lists . The basic functions (source select, picture ratio and things like that) are very straightforward, so I haven't even had to look at the manual yet, after having the TV for a month.
This is only a 720p TV, it's not full HD, but at this size (32 inches) you would not notice the difference anyway. For me this TV is perfect, and I would highly recommend it. If you are looking for a 32 inch flat panel TV, I don't think you will find a better deal.

The Samsung 32 inch HDTV is excellent with exception of sound system. Picture is great, (my first HDTV)did lots of reseach and this set met my expections. The reviews from past buyers was a big help, a few had mentioned the sound quality, so I did hook up my own speakers and all is well. The customer service from Amazon was outstanding, there was free shipping included with my purchase, EXCEPT when the trucking company called and said they needed $20 more to enter my gated community. I was taken aback since all MAJOR trucking companies enter our community with no fee. I contacted Amazon and they immediately credited my Amazon credit card with the $20. Thank you Amazon...

This set was bought as a gift, and the family member does not yet have HD programming. The specifications are better than my year-old Samsung 46" which was clearly the in-store winner when I made my choice, so I know they will be just as happy as I've been.

Like before I wanted the best TV for the $$$. Amazon and Samsung provided a great buy on a great TV.

I had to make a quick decision on a replacement TV, and after some research opted for this set. This 32-inch model is more than big enough for a typical living room. The picture is superb, setup took a matter of minutes. I only had an S-video cable at hand to hook up our DVD player and the resulting picture is breathtakingly clear.

If you have been watching TV on a "normal" set then you may not be aware (as I wasn't) that many channels on the major networks already have separate high definition channels with the same content. This 720p set generates a very fine picture in HD; 1080p isn't needed.

I'm very pleased with this purchase through Amazon's reseller.

I finally jumped on the HDTV bandwagon by getting the Samsung LN32A450, and I must say I am impressed. It took a little fine tuning to set it up, but I am very satisfied with the picture and have not had any problems. I would recommend this TV for anyone who, like me, is late in buying an HDTV as this is a great entry-level set.

We couldn't ask for a better set for the bedroom. We have a Samsung 1080p in the great room and this smaller 720p is just as fantastic! You cant go wrong with anything from Samsung, including the new upconvert DVD, the 1080p8 that we use with the 720p.

Comparing this side-by-side in the store to the 32" Sammy A550, I didn't see any major differences, certainly none worth paying a couple hundred dollars more to get a 1080p set. If you aren't connecting to a 1080p source anyway (game console, BD player), then the 720p vs. 1080p. argument is moot in this size class (though the 550 offers higher contrast ratio). I also compared this to Panasonic, Toshiba, LG, and Sony 32" sets, and the Sammy was better hands down.

I've calibrated this set using settings I found on AVS forum for the 550 and the picture quality (PQ) is excellent in Movie Mode giving bright, natural, and saturated colors. I'm using this TV in my bedroom with a Samsung upconverting DVD player and cable TV (line direct from wall, no box), watching local HD channels via the clear QAM tuner. I actually found the PQ to be better with the QAM than the off air tuner. The remote also controls the Sammy DVD player which is handy. Standard def cable is poor in comparison, but not unwatchable. I've also connected this to a PC to watch streaming movies on Netflix, and the PQ is comparable to DVD.

Yes, as others have pointed out, the audio isn't terrific, but you can improve it by doing some tweaking, or at least switching to the "Movie" or "Music" settings.

Samsung LN32A450 32-Inch 720p LCD HDTV This 4 series Samsung does everything I want it to do with one exception. It does not have a video output. I can't seem to find any present generation LCD screens that offer a video out. Other than that, the equipment was in perfect condition, the picture is awesome, the black tones are great, no electronic hum, 720p is plenty at 32", and the price was terrific! Computer connection allows great clarity, HPDI connection from DVD/VCR player/recorder nets super results - but I can't record without adding a cable box which I am loathe to do since this is an additional bedroom TV. I use the Component One connection for a camera dock connected by component connectors and I get HD results. It was delivered by CEVA four days earlier than estimated.

After reading pros and cons on many HD sets I decided to purchase this Samsung. With the 10k contrast, which was higher than any others, I found it to be an awsome investment. Even without the HD DVR (which had not been installed yet), the picture was great on all channels. Easy to put together (did it myself) and easy to hook up. I had to purchase a size that would fit into my cabinet and it was a perfect fit. Because the unit is black and the tv is black it looks like the whole unit is one big picture. I priced the unit that was similar at Wal-Mart and found the price I paid after shipping was exactly the same as if I had purchased the other one at Wal-Mart and paid taxes. The one at Wal-Mart would not fit in my unit as the speakers were on the sides. These speakers were underneath.. perfect fit. It looks better than my friends 1080p. I can't tell you all the great features this set has as it would take to long. I'm glad I did my homework, and I'm very happy with the product and price. Worth the investment.
