Samsung LN46A650 46-Inch 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV with RED Touch of Color

Love this tv. Great picture, enough inputs, does just what I needed to handle digital photos as well. Only bought it a month ago, and no problems at all so far. Delivery was prompt, set was put on the base, the only problem was that the bottom of the box was very dirty, requiring local cleaning of our carpet. Didn't realize how dirty till the box was moved after opening.

We were a bit concerned with the "touch of red" shown as the color of the frame, it looks black and doesn't cause any clash with our interiors. The television itself has an absolutely beautiful picture and was well worth the investment.

Fantastic TV with excellent picture quality. I know some people are concerned about the touch of red but I don't even notice it. If I were to have any complaints about the TV it would be the remote. The wheel to navigate around the menu can be annoying but that would be my only complaint.

This is the first HDTV I've ever bought, and I'm utterly stunned at how beautiful 1080i and 1080p feeds are. My primary uses for the TV were originally just going to be gaming (xbox360) and watching Blu-Ray movies, but after seeing the local news broadcast in HD, I called up my cable company and ordered an HD-DVR and HD cable because of how amazing it looks. After seeing the Georgia Tech football game in HD, it convinced me even more.

I really like the wealth of options you can change, although I found the picture settings to be perfect right out of the box. I find myself switching AutoMotion+ on and off pretty frequently depending on what I'm doing - for normal TV and movies it looks really fake, so I turn it off, but for sports and video games it looks amazing, so that's really the only time I ever put it on (I put it at medium, sometimes the screen gets a little choppy when I put it on high... not sure if it's just my eyes playing tricks or if it's an issue with the TV).

It's true, the remote is a little lame, but the remote that comes with the Samsung BD-P1500 works well with the TV and is a little better designed for basic tasks. I mean, I bought the TV for the picture, not the remote. No big deal.

The speakers are surprisingly good. I turned on the TruSurround feature and I'm very pleased. Of course, it can't compete with a dedicated home theater setup, but it will tide me over nicely until I decide on which HT system to buy down the road.

As for the reflection issues, I have two large windows with direct sunlight that shine onto my TV screen, and while I can see a perfect reflection on the screen when the TV is off, when the TV is on the picture is so bright and vibrant that you seriously don't see any reflections at all. The exception is when you are watching something with lots of dark colors - then you can see the reflections, but it really isn't bad enough to bother me at all.

The black levels on this TV are --AMAZING--. The deepest blacks are just as dark as the bezel around the screen, and the sheer amount of black shades this TV can produce is mindboggling... it's light years ahead of other LCDs. I watched Sunshine on Blu-Ray and the frequent space shots (it's a sci-fi movie) were incredibly realistic because of how perfect the black levels were. It's great for gaming, too - I played Dead Space on xbox360 for a few hours and there are frequent times when the lights go out and lighting is minimal. On my computer's LCD screen (a Hanns-G 22 incher) I could barely see anything because of how bad the black levels used to be, but on this Samsung I can see everything perfectly without any of the washed-out black levels I was used to on the other screen. Simply beautiful.

The touch-of-color looks cool when the TV is off, but I never even notice it unless I'm consciously looking for it. It's a purely aesthetic thing, and it adds to the glossy beauty of the screen and bezel.

Connectivity is perfectly adequate, and it's very easy to navigate inputs. No cons here.

My only true complaint about this TV isn't even confined to just this TV - it's more so for all HDTVs. This is my first HDTV, and I was worried when I kept reading that non-HD (standard definition) broadcasts look bad on HDTVs. Well, they were right. Regular cable channels look really bad on HDTVs, but HD cable channels are unbelievably pretty. It's kind of strange how bad some of the non-HD cable channels look, but I can say that as bad as they look on this Samsung, they actually look better on here than on any other HDTV I researched. I looked at a Polaroid and a Phillips LCD HDTV with non-HD cable broadcasts and it was truly unbearably bad. With this Samsung, it's only slightly disappointing. So, while it's a con, this TV actually does it better than the other ones I've seen. The only thing that can slightly rectify some of the poor standard-def quality issues is changing the aspect ratio from 16:9 to 4:3. It looks smaller, obviously, but sometimes it makes a difference.

All in all, I couldn't be more pleased with this TV. It's truly beautiful, and I am so glad I waited to pull the trigger long enough to grab a TV like the LN46A650. Blu-Ray and Xbox360 have never looked so amazing, and Amazon had the cheapest price hands down (it's cheap to begin with here, but the free $200 Blu-Ray player was the icing on the cake).

I'd like to take this opportunity to sing the praises of this TV and Amazon.com.

A little background first, I previously owned a Westinghouse 42" 1080P LCD TV (LVM42W2) that was plagued with vertical banding issues (sometimes referred to as uneven back-lighting) where vertical areas of the screen were slightly darker or lighter than the rest of the screen, and which were particularly visible during dark or gray scenes. Even worse, after 2 years these bands eventually developed into even more visible dark streaks. Eventually I had enough and started looking for a new TV. Plasma burn-in still scares me so I stuck with LCD's.

I bought the Samsung LN46A650 and when it arrived I immediately started feeding it dark scenes and looking for anything resembling vertical banding, and I am extremely happy to report that this TV has none. It's been a week now and the more I watch this TV, the more satisfied I am with it. The picture is great, even standard definition (SD) content looks very good (SD content was terrible on my old Westy). XBox 360 games look great and run smooth as well. The viewing angle is very good with a minimum of color wash-out even at extreme angles.

A couple of notes, you'll want to go ahead and turn off Auto-Motion Plus (AMP). It's kind of a gimmicky concept in the first place, but it really only succeeds and making things look strange. And by strange, I mean movies start to look like live-action plays or like they were shot with a home-video camera. I imagine some people will like this, but it's not for me, and I just turn it off.

I've read other people griping about the remote, but to me that's so minor that it's almost not worth discussing. It works well enough, and I use a universal remote anyway so it's non-issue.

I've also read some comments on the reddish "Touch of Color", but it's very subtle, and really, hardly noticeable, and thus also a non-issue.

The one legitimate complaint is this LCD's reflectiveness. It is extremely glossy, and, depending on how you have your room situated (i.e. windows, lights, and lamps), it could take on a mirror-like appearance and be a major issue. Fortunately, it's not an issue for me and my apartment. But I could definitely see other people hating this TV for this issue alone.

Now here's where I'm going to sing Amazon's praises. A week after I bought this TV, I saw a forum posting where someone mentioned that Amazon was now offering a free Blu-ray player with a purchase of this TV. I took a look and sure enough they were...so I sent Amazon an email asking if I could get that deal as well. It seemed like a long shot because I had already bought the TV, and I was essentially asking them to give me a free Blu-ray player, but Amazon said they'd do it. So I placed a second order for the Blu-ray player and they refunded my money. So I couldn't be happier with my purchase.

I bought a 52" Sharp D64U model and returned it for this TV. The 650 has a perfect picture, it was well worth going down in size. Some people complain about the glossy screen. I have lights behind and on top of my TV as well as windows on the side and there is no problem. With the deals going on right now at Amazon there is no reason to look at any other model. This was also rate #1 in consumer reports. Bought it on a Sunday and it was delivered that Friday.

I have just recently purchased this TV after much research. There is nothing that I can complain about this TV. The TOC I barely notice unless I turn on all the lights in the room. I haven't gotten use to the 120Hz as of yet but even the picture with it off is perfect. The remote is the only problem I have with this TV but I just use my receiver's remote to get rid of the issues. Also, Amazon's service and price were excellent with the TV delivered right on time. Thanks Amazon.

The TV came 5 days after we ordered it. The delivery service was perfect and the TV is working great. The picture is excellent. There is only one thing - if you are going to uninstall the base stand in order to mount the TV on a stand from the back, you will find that the four screws used to attach the base mount are very hard to get out - the screws are deep in and since there is no angle, it is hard to tell when you have unscrewed the screws. So we had to use a kitchen magnet to get them out. That can be exhausting if you have just finished assembling a new mount for the TV. But the picture especially for movies compensates for everything, and the surround sound is also amazing. So highly recommend the TV but maybe Samsung can put some angle in these screw holes on the bottom or magnetize the screws and then it will all be perfect.
But very happy with purchase, exceptional TV, especially with a nice mount from Costco.

After much searching, saving, and waiting for the black friday ads to be posted this year, we finally were able to buy this TV knowing that Amazon was going to have the best price. Sure, some have this TV on sale for $1499.99, but add tax and shipping and you are paying close to $1700.00. We went to many stores and compared size and picture quality and nothing was able to beat the price and picture on this baby. HD through a cable box looks great. I was a bit worried after seeing the poor quality of other Samsung LCD's in some family and friend's homes. I worried for nothing.

We just bought a PS3 and connected it via HDMI. WOW! We are big movie buffs and watching some of these movies on Blu Ray is like watching them again for the first time. The picture is pristine! I truly never thought I would be able to capture the same crystal clear picture I have seen in the store so many times, but I am happy to say I have. This was well worth the money spent. I am perfectly happy with this TV.

The touch of color bezel is also beautuful. It certainly adds a touch of class to the TV and to any room you put it in.

This LCD is nearing perfection. The only thing, at all, I would change is the ability to port the video settings from one input to the rest. The video settings are stored for each individual source. It would be nice, but otherwise everything else is as good as it gets. A very good LCD.

This tv has the best picture I have ever seen. Service from Amazon was great and recieved tv in great shape.

TV Set: Excellent styling, picture, manual. Sound (speaker)occassionally flutters or sputters (overmodulating?) It may be the audio signal and not the set.
Like the rotating base, very easy to view in any part of a large room. Picture quality is super: clear, crisp, vibrant colors.
Red Touch of Color: Really haven't figured out its purpose. Viewer has to look for it. Haven't located in manual if red color is constant or operator controlled.
After three weeks of use, would recommend set to potential buyer.

This is the best tv I've ever had and is worth every penny!!! I got this tv for $1510 and comes with a free bluray player, plus free shipping in amazon! This Samsung Ln650 series has a better picture quality than the sony's. Watching Bluray movies is Jaw Dropping because picture is so clear.This tv has very deep blacks and I mean DEEP blacks. Colors are so vivid and lifelike ,and the 120hz is amazing and makes motion very real. I turn 120hz on high when watching documentary, sports, CNN, and live shows. The motion is so smooth and crisp. I turn the 120hz down to "low" or "off" when watching bluray movies, dvd, and regular programs. This tv also an awesome computer monitor and displays 1920x1080 resolution. This tv is CNET's editor's choice award. Nevertheless this is the best lcd tv ,and I'm exremely happy with this tv.

The price ($500 off) can't be beat here on Amazon. We ordered ours as a gift after researching all the other dealers for this model. Since we already own this brand and like it we stuck with Samsung.

I'll not go into alot of technical info on this unit since there is already plenty out there. This Summer I decided to take the plunge into high-def. After extensive research, viewing different tv's at the box stores, and consulting my high-tech guru friend, I decided on the Samsung LN46A650. When I found that Amazon sold it for hundreds less than the local box stores, I decided to give them a try. From beginning to end and everything in between, I am completely happy. For my purposes the tv is superb. The picture(which is almost my only concern) is gorgeous in HD. I would rate the std. picture as just above average, though that really shouldn't be relevant because if you're going to spend this kind of money on a HIGH-DEFINITON tv, you probably want to watch HD signals and sources. There were no problems through the delivery process, which was faster than expected. All in all, for the money this unit can't be beat.

My fiance and I split the price on the Samsung LCD and we have been using it for a month.
It's our first HDTV and it is awesome!!!

20 Month old TV picture died (still has sound). No service in San Diego, and no response from authorized repair center after 3 calls. Bad circuit board which seems common if you Google search Samsung TV problems. Samsung service told me I was out of luck. Parts/labor to repair was quoted at over $500 when I finally got a Sears repair man to come out. For a premium quality product like Samsung, they take no pride in quality and have poor customer service. BUY AT YOUR OWN PERIL....."

Very satisfied with purchase having compared different brands in local stores ahead of time. Delivery time was great, far sooner that was expected probably due to the fact that we only live 98 miles from Houston. Freight company rep. called ahead of time and delivered during time that he said then removed TV from box, set TV up, and connected to our cable system. Very pleased with purchasing through Amazon.com and recommend this type purchasing to everyone we know.

My husband and I looked at lots of LCD TV's and discovered that picking one out is not as easy as it looks. So, after doing lots of research on contrast ratio, rms, and comparing like features we decided on the Samsung Series 6 model. It was easy to hook up, the blacks are black and the colors just pop! We were hesitant about ordering online instead of buying locally, but Amazon's White Glove delivery servce was fantastic and we had no problems. We would recomend the Samsung LN46A650 to anyone. If you need more information Samsung has a great website that explains all their LCDs and what their features mean.

Have had this tv for about a month now, everything so far has been great. I have dish network without HD so far and the picture quality is excellent. My dvd player is only 480p but the picture is very clean and detailed, can't wait to see it at 1080p. I have no problem with this tv at all, did do the recommended update without a hitch. The black/red color of the bezel is a nice touch but not that big a selling point for me. Have read others do not like the remote with the swivel ring, it does not bother me too much as I use the satellite remote most of the time but have no problems using the tv's remote when needed. For anyone looking for a 46 lcd set, take a good look at this unit, I looked around for over 6 months before I bought this one, for the money you can't go wrong.

Our set came in about 3 days - out of the box and plugged it in! Can't say enough about the quality of the picture and sound. Excellent! All channels (HD or not) are almost clearer than life.

I'd recommend Samsun and Amazon Warehouse to anyone who asks and a few who don't!!

This product has exceeded my expectations! Really! The shows I watch in HD are almost ruined because the picture and movement are so good. It's like the actors are right in my living room! Worth every penny, a must get!!!

No sales taxes and with Amazon Prime, no shipping costs, and the low price on the product means that I got the best deal on this television and it was not even close.

Lots of people are talking about waiting until Black Friday to buy a set. I think that would be a mistake. Waiting to buy an inferrior set at the same price does not make sense.

This set has a beautiful picture, check the specs, they are good. The inputs are plentiful. Shipping from Amazon was on time and the service was outstanding. They allowed me to plug in the set to make sure it worked before leaving, if I rejected it, they would have returned it for me.

Side story about why I bought this set.

I replaced another set with a cracked screen with this one and the tech told me that the screens for Samsungs and LG's are the cheapest to replace. If you are worried about a cracked screen (kids, pets, high activity house) you should get a screen protector. But if I had this set, it would have cost half as much to replace the screen as my old brand.

OVERALL:
Great value, $1500 for everything, additional $200 for screen protector from another vendor, and I have a set that is fantastic.

I researched and researched on a TV purchase for the longest time driving my wife nuts. I did go to Circuit City which was much more helpful that Best Buy to answer some questions. One thing I found very helpful on making my decision was all the comments here on Amazon. All these guys before me really helped ensure my decision and helped clarify my concerns and questions. Right now it's killing me because I'm at work and my TV is waiting for me to get home and hook it up...but it's out of the box and looks amazing. I've seen this version at Best Buy (40inch) and the picture is amazing. True colors, no blur, and hardly any glare on the screen. Amazon saved me approx. $600 (plus free shipping and 24 months interest free) comapred to Best Buy. And Even comapring this 650 series to the newest versions, there were minor differences...the 650 was the way to go for us. It is just as high tech and current as you could go right now. Lots of features and will stay current and steady for what's to come in the next few years.

**One thing to any of you looking for a TV like this....make sure you get one big enough. This 46 inch is perfect for our size living room and distance. We were actually thinking 40 inch until someone at Circuit City pointed out to us the difference and noted a lot of their returns are because the TV was and looked too small in their living room.

This TV is by far the best on the Market! This was my first LCD TV (for that matter HDTV) and I did 2 months worth of research and seeing the different TV's in person (at bestbuy etc...) and this one had the most rich color and just clarity. I also purchased a Vizio for another room and there is no comparision between the two. All my family and friends love the realness this TV produces. I would definitely buy another one in the future, even another family memeber purchased it but they got the 52inch one! Also Amazon has the best price and great customer service to go along with it.

First off, I'm glad my girlfriend convinced me to pick this 46 inch TV instead of the 52 inch I was dying for. They don't look that big when you look at them at the retail stores ( I bought it from Amazon, of course. I just went to a retail store to see what they look like). When I first got it, I had to push my furniture all the way against the wall, because the screen was so big, I just couldn't get used to it right away (I just upgraded from a 32 inch LCD). I'm in the process of buying a house with a nice recreational room, so pretty soon that won't be a problem anymore.
Ok, about the TV:
It looks just great. It's just gorgeous and very nice to look at. The screen resolution is amazing. At the beginning, I just couldn't get used to the "soap opera effect", but after I turned it off I felt the movies looked even better. Although I own a PS3, I am not a gamer. I only use it to watch blu ray movies, and yes, you can appreciate even the smallest details in the picture. Sound wise, I feel it is just ok, but I don't mind because I have a home theater.
Overall, I just feel that I got a great deal on it and I am extremely satisfied. Like many consumers, I did my research, and read as many reviews as possible.

This TV is wonderful. Looks beautiful and has a defined picture. Wathing Blu-ray with the 120Hz on makes view high action sence more clear and earier to watch. The shipping was great arrived 3 days eariler than I though it would and in excellent condition.

I first looked at the high ends Sharp versus the high end Samsung - side by side the Samsung came out on top with me. With the introduction of the Samsung LN46A850&950 the price on the 650 & 750 model's dropped - I considered upgrading and paying the extra money and going to the 850 or 950 models. Since I already had a subwoofer I didn't need one built in and the connectivity and everything else I wanted and would use is already on the 650 model. In addition - seeing the model's side by side - I liked the beveled edge look better than the newer models square look design. The picture and quality are identical with the now - more expensive model's. Unless they make more significant upgrades, and unless you need a blue touch of color versus a red touch of color - I recommend going with the 650. Delivered to the house for just over $1,500 is a great deal. Amazon was great as usual - the TV showed up quickly and in great shape. I paid $40 more than going with a unknown supplier - from the reviews I have read - it was well worth the difference to have the security of Amazon backing up my purchase. I wish I had the space to go with the 52 inch.

I did much research on the internet and narrowed it down to this and Sony. I agree the Sonys are more expensive due to name brand. The delivery service was excellent. It was delivered earlier then due date. It was delivered in time frame agreed and they borught into house, unpacked it, setup basic tv hookup and had me inspect it. Could not ask for anything more and it was FREE!!. I shopped for price and even with store discounts, Amazon was by far the cheapest and that is before tax free. After going to the store this was the TV with the best picture for a LCD. However after ready reviews, I had concerns about the glare, the red tint around frame. I also considered the 750 but decide the glow around the edges would bother me and was not worth getting the memory in the TV, slight better tech. the base third speaker and the internet connect. I have had the TV for close to a month. The picture is clear the colors are bright and it looks almost 3d. The hook-ups were easy and numerous. I switched to a HD cable box and went form component to HDMI. Results were a better picture, but manu times the picture was not full screen. Have to play with that. I have two big picture windows in room and the glare was a problem until I rearranged the room to put the TV against the same wall as the window. THe glare is not an issue anymore. I also like the red tint around the frame. It is not noticable unless you look for it. It is deep in color and blends somewhat with the black of the frame. I read in the manual if you want digital sound do not route you other devices through the TV but directly to the receiver. Still playing with the speaker and wiring to get the best sound. For a TV the sound from the speakers was more than exceptable. I did not care about the PIP and have not tried it. The remote is acceptable and has back lighting when in the dark. I did not hang the TV so having the swivel stand (750 does not)a plus since many times during setup, It was nice to turn the TV to get to the hookups to add the next device or change the wiring. I feel for me I made the correct decision. Good luck in your decisionand what you pick makes you as happy as I am with my decision.
One last note, I also found a fantastic corner stand that fits in the corner nicely is 2 feet tall and is very sturdy. It was over $300 but looks sharp with the TV. Best price was circuit city and model is BUS VS1183603 Bush Segments Collection Video Base.

This is one of the best purchases I have made, yes the price is a bit shaky but I won't mind since I wanted the TV now not after BlackFriday :-).

The only issue I have seen with this TV: Pixelation on HD channels when connected to the same outlet as my DTV HD Receiver is connected to and my Fan's light is ON.

Nobody could tell the real issue, so at this moment the I have plugged the power of the TV in another room to make it work.

Received my order in 5 days but it would have been delivered two days sooner had I been available for delivery.The delivery people couldn"t have been any better,they carried the TV into my living room,unpacked it,sat it on my TV stand,plugged it in and hooked up the HDMI cable and handed me the remote then said thank you.Good Job Amazon! I did a lot of research into finding a LCD HDTV television. I first thought I'd want Sony because my daughter had purchased a 46" LCD HDTV Sony television. However, my son-in-law had purchased a Samsung and was very pleased with it. I checked with Consumter Reports and it rated the Samsung higher than the Sony. Now that I had decided on a Samsung, I wanted to find the best price. I checked the Big Box National electronic stores (Best Buy, Circuit City), Sams Club, and my local Ultimate Electronics store but felt I could find a better deal online. Checking online, I found some really seductive low prices but they were from online stores I had never heard of. In the end , I felt the price I got at Amazon was really low for a name internet store plus there was no sales tax and no shipping charge. The TV arrived within a few days even though the estimated delivery time was a week. The delivery truck driver even said that I had a full 30 days to return the TCV to Amazon for any reason (which I did not know when I bought it) so that was an added plus. The TV is performing very well. I highly recommend the Samsung TV and purchasing it through Amazon!

1st purchase ever on Amazon!! Amazing Tv. Found Amazon's pricing changing frequently up 1 day, down 2 days later,up again,etc. Seen the lowest Amazon price at $1579. highest $1818. in the 1st half of Sept 08.
I paid $1649 Sept 12. I Saw $1579. about 3 days later. BTW Amazon as of Sept 1st 08, no longer has a 30 day price match. I was NOT able to get a $70. credit. Amazon did a GOOD job with timely shipping, and the White Glove Delivery serice co. (CEVA) also. After 2weeks of box store and online shopping for LN46A650. I decided to make my 1st big purchase online. No other reputable co. could beat Amazon's price. (BEWARE of Low Price Co. Do your research 1st.) No Tax, FREE Delivey and Set-up. What a WAY to SHOP! Picture is jaw dropping. I have it with a Onkyo HT-S6100 HTIB (Home Theather in Box) purchase from Vann's thru Amazon for $579. No Tax, FREE Shipping. What a WAY to SHOP!! Timely delivered to my door!! (Box weights 91 lbs.) What a WAY to SHOP!!. WHAT NEXT?? mmm BLU-RAY?? After another week of reading reviews and debating which blu-ray player to INVEST in. Everyone was amazed. TV picture quality is outstanding. NO Problems what so ever. However the bezel is a dust magnet, TV runs warm to hot, out the top. (be sure to leave ample space above TV to release heat). Took 1 star away for lousy remote. I have recommened this purchase and my Amazon experience to some friends. Not sure other than not having internet access why anyone would buy at a big box stores, where you have to pay sales tax, and handle & transport your large heavy purchases.

This item is totally awesome. Once I hooked everything up to the HDMI on my cable I could not believe the clarity of the picture. This was better than I expected and compared to the price at the local stores it made the purchase even better. Would recommend this product to any one. When it is time to purchase another TV I will be looking at a Samsung.

I was torn between both the Sony and Samsung LCDs. Samsung was cheaper and the picture was a little more vivid and crisp in my opinion. The only question was that the screen does reflect some light, a lot more than the Sony models.
That being said the $200 dollar difference was well worth the try. I have the TV in my downstairs media room and it is directly next to a bay window at ground level and the reflection is noticeable but not too annoying or distracting if you ask me, however I can see why it may bother some people. But this picture is absolutely amazing.
The only thing that you may want to keep in mind is the 120 Hz True Motion on these high end LCD HDTVs. But there is no noticeable difference between the Sony and the Samsungs in my opinion. I watched them side by side and couldn't tell. But I wasn't quite sure how I felt about it at first, but I have grown to really like it. The way the camera moves and stuff makes it almost look unnatural, but you get used to it. I absolutely love to tell you the truth, but it does take some getting used to. After that it is like movies aren't even movies anymore, they are like watching something going on right outside your window......like you are watching live footage. It is crazy, and I recommend Iron Man and Transformers...watch those two films and you won't want to watch anything else.......add a Blu Ray disc player and you are going to change the way you see movies now.

After reading several opinions and reviews, we decided on the Samsung LN46A650. I was a little nervous about the delivery,but as a long time Amazon customer we decided to buy a big ticket item and it turned out to be a positive experience. Ordered the set on 9/13 and it was delivered 9/20, yes a Saturday. It was suppose to come between noon and 3:00pm and it came just after 3. Everything went smoothly. Only problem is that prices are dropping. TV took a while to figure out while setting up the cable box, but we absolutley enjoy it!

After watching my 27" Zenith for the last 15 years I decided it was high time for a new TV. I entered my order for this TV on a Saturday night at a recent low of $1504 and selected the free shipping option, 4 days later on Wednesday I received an email from the shipper asking me to call to arrange delivery. I arranged for the folowing Saturday and the delivery showed up in the window they stated. I was very impressed with the 2 guys who set it up and they were gone in 5 minutes.
I am very happy with the TV, the clarity of picture is outstanding, sound while not great is OK if you set up as custom/surround/auto volume on. I would give a 5 rating were it not for the lame PIP feature. I solved this by ordering a Scientific Atlanta 8300HD DVR from my cable Co that has a PIP feature. I have not had any of the power drop out problems that have been reported with the earlier versions.

I also ordered the Samsung 1500DP blu-ray player and am very happy with this. Although I find the Anynet function too cumbersome, the features and picture output more than compensate for this.

All in all I found buying from Amazon an easy experience.

My Blu-ray will send out 1080p on the 1.3 HDMI cable, but the screen goes all green and pink. 1080i signal from Blu-ray looks sweet; no problems with 1080i or below. I called Samsung and reached Tier 2 support. The tech guy (not the friendly Tier 1 operator) said this TV will not except a 1080p signal but it will display in the progressive (not the interlaced) mode. That does not make much sense to me since I thought the "p" in progressive meant every line per frame was sent in the signal, and the "i" in interlaced meant that every other line was sent per frame to the screen. If the TV displays every line per frame, why not except a signal with every line per frame.

Also, the 120 Hz auto motion plus feature makes special effects where they use the green screen with real people look weird and distracting. The action looks like it is on a different layer than the people. I have the 120 Hz feature turned to the low setting and that seems to be a happy medium.

The picture and the colors are great. Even my regular 480i DVDs look great. The Blu-ray movies are sweet.

I will echo everyone else in the comments about how fabulous the picture is. It is nearly impossible to describe the clarity and detail.

What I really want to do is give a shout out to Amazon for its service. I previously ordered this TV from Abes of Maine 3 months ago. Over 3 weeks, I was delivered 2 sets that both had broken screens upon delivery. I think that the FedEx driver might have been the main culprit in the damage because I witnessed their driver flipping the box end over end as he placed it in my garage (and this might have happened multiple times because I was never forewarned when they would deliver). Nonetheless, Abe's contracted with FedEx (for which I paid more in shipping) to deliver the TVs and placed the sets in large unmarked boxes so it bears some responsibility, too. Regardless, the amount of time and mental energy I spent in dealing with the deliveries, returns, and refund process is incalculable and I would never use Abe's again because of it.

Amazon hired a local delivery company which called to set up a delivery time 3 days after I ordered the set and then had 2 men quickly and carefully bring the set to my office the next day. If I had known how careful and professional the delivery would be, I would have had them deliver to my house, but I was feeling snake bitten after the Abe's/FedEx snafu and wanted to make sure that there was only 1 delivery attempt, not the multiple FedEx attempts which led to damaged screens.

Love the TV. Love Amazon.

Was skeptical ordering a product costing so much, however, I had a great experience and have encountered no issues. I went to all the big box retailers to see if they would match the price and got to within $100. After taxes I still would have spent $300 more than what I found on Amazon. looking at both LCD and PLASMA, there have been advances in the plasma area. the most important one is solving the "screen life" problem. plasma
has also come way down in price! in fact, i found that i was looking in the 50"+ range in plasma vs. 46" lcd. that being said, it came down to a screen to screen comparison. for me there really was no comparison. the lcd simply had a brighter, more crip picture. and with the lcd, there was no issue of screen reflections from whatever light source you may have in your viewing room. when comparing the SAMSUNG to other brands...well lets just say that the positive reviews on these pages are truly justified! i ordered mine on a sunday night, and recieved it one week later, tuesday. i started watching movies that night and can't say enough good about this

start enjoying! when coupled with a blu-ray disc player the picture truly comes alive! it really is like you can reach out and touch the picture!(i purchased the PANASONIC because: i already had a standard dvd by panasonic which has been flawless; the reviews were excellent; and the price was good vs. the SONY).

This TV is amazing, it really is breath taking. I *used* to be a firm believer that the sony xbr4 and xbr5 TV's were better than this TV by far but after having in my house for the 2nd time (originally bought one at circuit city but returned it after they LIED to me about several things involved with the purchase of this tv) I can say this TV is definently on par with the xbr series. Standard def really is kind of grusome looking but did i get this TV for standard def? Most definently not. HD anything looks great, upconverted DVD's even look great; Blu-ray looks completely amazing. Spiderman-3 and Transformers are so visually stunning it's amazing. I'm actually selling off my DVD collection this weekend so i can reinvest the money into blu-ray, regular old dvds just can't cut it anymore for me. If you are skeptical about purchasing this tv based just on reviews than i suggest doing extensive research as i did. avsforum.com and blu-ray.com are great places to try and find help with purchasing the right TV for you but what i would suggest doing is going into good old brick and motar stores to find the tv that is most appealing to your eyes. Do remeber though that stores juice up everything on the tv so when you bring it home it will most likely not look anything like what it looked like in store.

As most have commented, I did some research prior to purchasing this set through Amazon. I have not yet hooked it up to a HD signal or source yet, so I will reserve judgement until I do that.

The set looks great and the non HD picture quality is good.

Minor annoyance - there is a bit of glare (bright room), Also, the controls that are on the front of the TV are almost impossible to see. They are in the lower right hand corner (on/off, volume, channel, source). I realize everyone is lazy and pretty much uses the remote, but when the kids hide it, you need to be able to go the old fashioned route and change things on the set.

CEVA delivery was prompt and courteous.

This is my first High Def and the biggest TV I've ever had. When I go into stores and watch their displays of high def tv's I've never been really impressed at all. The picture wasn't that great and they were way over priced. This Samsung is the exception. It is unbelievable how good it looks. I barely watch any TV but I play a lot of video games and watch a lot of movies and this is perfect. PS3 and XBOX 360 look amazing!! Crystal clear and surprisingly so because it's a 46 inch screen so you'd expect some rough edges or something but there is none. Amazons price is also on average about $600 bucks cheaper than I could find it anywhere else. Great deal. Perfect TV.

I just got this television a couple days ago. And I have to say that I can hardly find any problems with this television. It delivers an amazing picture without much calibration needed at all. Shipping from Ceva was easy, and fairly quick - only five business days from ordering to delivery.

Pros
+Amazing Picture Quality - Black levels are superb, and rival even some high-end plasmas
+Touch Of Color Bezel adds a nice tint to the television
+Sound Quality better than most standard television speakers - but home theater systems are always better
+Many different settings - input lag completely gone when using game mode

Cons
+Glare can be an issue in a bright room. When its off I can actually use it as a mirror
+The remote wheel is sluggish and unresponsive - But simply pushing the directional keys is an easy alternative
+The bezel seems to be coming off at the edges of the television right out of the box - These can be pushed back into place, but they come back out within seconds.

Overall, I am incredibly happy with this television. It is a great addition to any movie room or fairly large bedroom. The glare is not an issue for me at all, and getting used to the remote is simple. The remote lights up when you grab it, a nice feature not usually present on standard television remotes. I couldn't find anything that would give me reason to give this television anything but a 5 star rating.

This t.v. is everything I had hoped for. Its clear, easy to use andI have no problem seeing it and hearing it. I was pleased with the delivery and the driver who made sure it worked.

After using this TV for over a week in a room with four large windows (two 60x30, two 80x35) with south and east exposure, respectively, I second the concerns of some reviewers about reflections off the glossy screen. Fortunately, I watch TV mostly at night. For watching during the day, the blackout shades on the larger two windows and brown fabric light-filtering shades on the other two (which are facing the TV) are eliminating the reflections almost completely. Without the shades lowered on the windows facing the TV, dark movies or scenes noticeably suffer from very distracting reflections on anything but the brightest material. Thus, light control should be a paramount concern for people planning to use the TV during the day in rooms with windows facing the screen.

However, in a light-controlled room, this TV truly offers one of the best pictures I have ever seen. Superb detail and, with the unit calibrated (using the Digital Video Essentials HD Basics: Blu-ray DVD), an astounding color trueness and deep blacks (though obviously not quite on par with Pioneer's Kuro plasmas - if you want and can afford that, go with Samsung's 950 series or the Kuros). Conveniently, the inputs can be adjusted individually, so you can use the set's pretty exhaustive picture adjustments to optimize the settings for each input.

I am pairing this unit with a Pioneer BDP-51FD blu-ray player and a Denon 2930CI upscaling player set to 1080p output, so your mileage may vary somewhat, especially when watching regular (non blu-ray) DVDs, depending on the player you use. However, the set appears to have surprisingly (given the price point) good video processing and correctly de-interlaces interlaced material, so unless your upscaling player is rather good, you may want to try having it put out 480i and let the TV do the scaling.

The punchline: Superb picture IF ambient light can be controlled.
