Auto Motion Plus 120Hz

auto motion plus 120HzThis technology doubles the frame rate from 60 to 120 frames per second (120Hz LCD panel) without repeating the same image to make more frames. Instead, the TV intelligently calculates the ‘middle’ image between frame A and frame B and inserts it in between (Auto Motion Plus 120Hz processor), making a fluid transition from one frame to the next.

Super Clear Panel

clear panel chart
Samsung enhances the clarity of select LCD HDTVs by replacing the light-diffusing plastic face of traditional LCD HDTVs with a  natural black panel with a clear anti-glare shield. Reduced reflection of external light creates a new dimension in image clarity, highlighting black and darkened areas, enabling vibrant, more compelling colors and a brighter, clearer picture.  Black will never again appear grayish. Black details will show in vivid black even in dark scenes.

The latest version of Samsung’s breakthrough super clear panel technology makes colors appear more vibrant and blacks even deeper than ever. Enhanced films reduce glare and optimize off-angle viewing.

Samsung’s new LCD TV’s give the most stunning realistic picture quality ever.

Samsung’s 1080p panel uses a new high-speed liquid crystal to cut response time to 4ms. The fast response time, coupled with Samsung’s Auto Motion Plus 120Hz motion blur reduction technology dramatically reduces motion blur and judder.

Wide Color Enhancer/Cold Cathode Flourescent Lamp

The NTSC (National Television Systems Committee) has established the color standards all TVs in America try to meet. And typical LCD TVs only meet about 72% of this standard. Samsung LCD HDTVs use Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp backlights to give you 92% coverage of the NTSC standard, ensuring truer, more breathlessly vivid colors.

Samsung’s exclusive Wide Color Enhancer technology delivers more brilliant colors, even in bright areas of the picture where blues and greens are washed out on conventional screens. The system displays wider color reproduction, showing you truer colors – the fresh green of spring foliage, the intense blue of the summer sky.

Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA)

DLNA logo

dlna daisy chain
You already know something about digital living. There’s the TV and digital video recorder in your family room. (And another set in your bedroom.) You have a PC and digital printer in your office, along with a network attached storage device. And you’ve copied all your music onto your portable music player and haven’t had to open a CD case for years. But getting them to talk to each other can be pretty tough. Why is it still so difficult to send digital content from one device to another?

Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA) is a collaboration of the world’s leading consumer electronics, PC and mobile companies that has created design guidelines for a new generation of products that can work together — no matter the brand.

Think for a moment about all of the photos "locked away" on your home PC that you wish you could access while entertaining your friends and family. Now, thanks to DLNA enabled devices, a DLNA-enabled PC can be accessed from the comfort of your living room or family room via a DLNA-enabled HDTV, where you can enjoy your memories with friends and family, without having to deal with the hassle and non-intuitive "PCexperience".

Or, say you recently downloaded your daughter’s birthday party video from your digital camcorder to your PC. Now you want to share it with your parents who are visiting. Without DLNA, you probably have to burn a DVD of the video or hook up the camcorder to the TV. With DLNA, you can just use your TV’s remote to call up the video on your TV. That’s it.

Audio Features

TruSurround is a patented SRS technology that solves the problem of playing 5.1 multichannel content over two speakers. TruSurround delivers a compelling, virtual surround sound experience through any two-speaker playback system, including internal television speakers and headphones. It is fully compatible with all multichannel formats up to 5.1 channels. High-quality virtual surround sound can be experienced with just the two hidden, downward-firing side-mounted 2.2-channel dome speakers built into the TV.

SRS TruSurround XT technology delivers an amazing, simulated 3D effect with clear dialog and powerful bass.

TruSurround XT audio also adds three audio enhancement technologies to produce an amazingly immersive sound experience.
  • Dialog Clarity brings movie dialog into Focus during the playback of any surround-encoded material to make speech much clearer and crisper.
  • TruBass creates incredible deep rich bass allowing a person to perceive significantly deeper, richer low bass tones that are far beyond the physical low frequency capabilities of the speaker itself.
  • The SRS WOW feature widens the soundstage by processing standard two-channel stereo material as well as multi-channel encoded material for a dramatic improvement in the playback of any stereo audio over a two-speaker system.
Stereo broadcast reception is offered for MTS and SAP with 181-channel capacity. A sound leveler keeps audio volume consistent during channel changing.

Which Size HDTV is Right for My Room?

HDTV Size chart
With standard-definition TVs, the rule used to be that viewers would feel comfortable watching a set from a distance of 3 to 6 times the screen size in inches. With HDTV, the resolution is so much better that you can sit closer to a larger TV without noticing the pixels. So with HDTVs, the rule tends to be you can sit anywhere from 1.5 to 3 times the screen size (in inches) for the best experience.
If you know the size of the room you have already, where you want to sit, and where your new HDTV should go once you get it, you can figure out the size HDTV you should get.

[+] 6.0 Great TV with a "Little" Problem
GOOD NEWS: Make no mistake, the A650 is a great TV. BAD NEWS: the A650 developed a glitch on the screen shortly after I purchased it from Amazon. GOOD NEWS: going online to Samsung.com got me an extra 3 months on my warranty. BAD NEWS: Samsung.com customer support sucks. It took weeks to finally get a repairman in. GOOD NEWS: the A650 got fixed (it took two visits by the repairman to figure out what was wrong (the display) but he got it working and it looks great).

    [+] 10.0 Great TV
Purchased this TV in November, 2008. No problems with ordering. Delivery went very smooth. White glove delivery worked great. Delivery guys set up TV. However, in our part of the country, it is cold in November, so I wanted to wait until TV warmed to room temperature to fire it up. No problems. TV is excellent. Had been investigating this TV for a while. This was my choice because of the 50,000:1 contract ratio & 4ms response time. With the price drop and 2 year no interest financing, figured it was time to make the move. This is my third Samsung and won't buy anything else as they have the best picture. Go into any electronics store and compare side by side. Samsung blows away all others. Some other reviews have criticized the TOC. It is so subtle that I can't imagine anyone complaining about it. No problems with screen glare either. If you are looking for a new TV, you won't be disappointed with the 650 series from Samsung.

    [+] 10.0 Outstanding !!!!!
First time purchasing with Amazon, very, very, pleased with the entire experience. Saved a bundle of money on shipping costs, and the product was far less than retail store competitors. Friends & family can't believe the picture, just outstanding! Recommend to anyone looking to score a beautiful LCD HDTV. Personally love the Red Touch of Color, looks fabulous with our red mahogany furniture.

[+] 10.0 Far surpassed my expectations!
This TV is definitely at the top of its class.

I own an older model Samsung (LN4041), which is a 720p unit, and it was time to upgrade to a 1080. I have been looking at this LN52A650 for quite some time, comparing it to other manufacturers and models, and checking prices. The 50,000:1 contrast ratio, 120HZ, and 4ms response put it at the top of my list. When I finally bought it, I couldn't wait for it to arrive!

On the scheduled delivery day, I was told to expect delivery between 11am and 3pm, with a call 30 minutes prior to arrival. That call came at 10am - earlier than I expected, but fine with me! At 10:30, they arrived. The delivery men brought it into my living room, unpacked it, put it on the stand, plugged it in, opened the remote, put the batteries in, and handed it to me. After verifying that the TV works, I signed their paperwork and they were on their way - about 10 - 15 minutes, and back to work for me.

When I got home that night, I couldn't wait to finish the installation. I have a wall mount for this, and all I had to do was take the old one down and put the new one up. Well the old TV is pretty light (about 50 pounds), so it came down easily. Well this new one is much bigger and heavier! It took about 6 tries before I got it hung on the wall mount, and I was pretty tired afterwards. It was recommended that I have help doing this, but I didn't think I needed it. Looking back, I now recommend a second person. The last thin you would want to do is drop your new $2000 TV while installing it.

Once installed and connected, I turned on my new TV!! The last channel I was watching was Spike HD, so that's the first thing that came on. Star Wars III was playing when my new TV booted up, and let me tell you, the picture and sound were simply AMAZING!! It looks 100 times better than my other TV. I'm not sure if it's the 720 vs 1080 or the size difference (or both), but I couldn't be happier with it. Every channel, whether HD or not, looks incredible.

The controls are pretty straight-forward. I didn't need to read through the manual to figure out the basics, although the manual is well-written. I also have a Samsung blu-ray player, and it still auto-detects it even though it is plugged into my Sony receiver. I have the TV hard-wired to my internet router, and it easily set itself up.

So far, after 2 weeks, I can't find anything negative to say about the LN52A650. I looked at the A750 also, but the only difference between them was the additional storage capacity, which I don't need. Also, the A750 does not included picture-in-picture, and while I don't use that feature much, I want to have the option.

If you're thinking about buying this TV, I highly recommend it. You won't be disappointed.

[+] 10.0 just what the doctor ordered
Must admit i was worried about buying something like this online. But have no fear Amazon came through with flying colors. Speaking of colors all i can say is WOW this t.v is awesome it really delivers the goods. I did a lot of research and had decided this was the one for me. Delivery was as promised and i did purchase some 1.3 hdmi cables from amazon for 10.00 bucks a piece and they work great with my blu-ray and yahama rec. with hdmi and 1080 passthrough. sports , movies hdtv and even basic cable stuff looks sooooo good. You can plug in almost anything to it to. DONT BE AFRAID I RECCOMMEND IT HIGHLY

    [+] 10.0 Extremely satisfied
I bought this tv in June (not from Amazon. Found it cheaper elsewhere) and have been in love with it ever since. Based on my purchase, I strongly look for Samsung products now when I am shopping for other electronics. Picture quality is excellent. Design is delightful. My only complaints are 1. it seems a little slow turning on or switching between devices (but that isn't much of an issue compared to the quality of the product). 2. The wireless connectivity seems pointless since all I can use it for is newsfeeds, weather, and stockfeed (I was disappointed that the wireless capabilities came out just as I purchased my tv and mine didn't have it, but as a pleasant surprise, Samsung sent me the wireless connection as a free gift after registering the product with them).

I highly recommend this product and have no regrets (other than watching the price drop as newer versions come out). Excellent tv!

    [+] 8.0 Awesome TV!
I ordered from the Warehouse Deals from Amazon.com. The TV arrived 4 days after shipment. It was in the original box. However, the box had been opened as was noted in the description. There are no scratches or dents on the TV. Other than a bit of packing dust, it was in perfect condition. I would recommend the Warehouse Deals.

The quality of the picture is incredible! This was a top rated LCD by Consumer Reports, so after viewing for a few days, it was easy to see why.

The only drawback to this TV that I have found is that there is no output jack from the TV tuner. As a result, I am unable to record a DVD using my tunerless Samsung DVD Recorder.

Overall, a great TV for the price!

    [+] 10.0 Great TV!
I must be fairly lucky, I ordered this TV through amazon and was a little bit worried about getting a bad set...but It's perfect. No clouding visible to the human eye. Blacks are very black, better than the xbr4. It's almost perfect, some minor viewing inconsitencies but compared to every other TV I would rate this probably the best you can get(even though I have not seen any of the LED models). I even heard about the Pio Kuro Elite having noticeable smearing, and this set has basically none. I have no dead pixels, no smearing, no ghosting. I would say from everything I have gone through and through my research, this would be the best TV to get. Although the sharpness the XBR4 can outclass by a small margin, It's a big trade off for the consistency in the picture and the black levels. Most people probably wouldn't even notice. This TV is UNBELIEVABLE!

    [+] 8.0 Great Picture
This has been our first large screen TV and it is such a wonderful, clear picture. It is great especially for watching nature programs or movies. I have never watched as much TV as I do now.
Our friends have a large screen projection TV and it seems to have a darker, fuzzier picture. Plus, it fades out when you stand off to the side. Our LCD does not do that. This makes it perfect for our living room since we have a couple of chairs that are kind of off to one side--everyone gets to watch the same great picture.
We've had our TV now for about 8 months and have had no problems at all.

    [+] 10.0 Incredible TV
I finally decided to upgrade from my 36" tube tv. I was debating between the 46" and 52" Samsung A650. I really wanted the bigger tv but didn't want to spend $500 more on it. Then I found out about Amazon's warehouse deals. I was able to get the 52" tv for $1640 plus shipping (shipping isn't free when it is warehouse deal). Even including shipping, I only ended up paying $175 more than the 46" new version.

At first I was hesitant because the description says "cosmetic blemishes". But after reading the success other purchases had with warehouse deals, I was sold.

The TV was delivered 5 days after I ordered it. It didn't come in the Samsung Box, but really, does that matter? I inspected the tv, but couldn't find a single thing wrong with it. Everything on it is amazing. Even after a few weeks, I'm still in awe when I watch tv.

If you are like me and can't decide between the 46" and 52", go for the 52" warehouse deal. You save money and will be much happier in the long run.

    [+] 10.0 Worth every penny...
I have to say like other reviews here I was a bit skeptical about spending this much online. However my doubts were laid to rest once the TV got here and the company hooked it up. The picture is absolutely stunning, I watched iron man in blu ray and just about shat myself. The auto motion 120hz takes a little getting used to, and I even managed to get slighty nauseous from the blur. After a few hours the initially disorientation faded but I am still blown away by the picture. Watching movies is just ridiculous I feel like I could just tap them on the shoulder and ask them a question its so life-like. Worth every penny!!!

As a side note my TV was shipped via a company called Pilot. I ordered the TV on a friday and the following monday they called to let me know that the package had arrived as reflected by the tracking information provided by amazon.com's website. They said that I would recieve a call in a "day or two" about setting up a delivery time. 3 days later I had to track down the company which the amazon representative said was a new shipping company and finally got their corporate headquarters on the phone. Lee and Jill at HQ were extremely helpful going out of the way to assist me. However I got transferred to Cecilia at the San Francisco office and what a rude @$&*#. After having to argue that i never received a call back and when it needed to be shipped she finally relented and agreed to the next day morning 8-12. Taking time off work to meet the delivery was not a problem, except cecilia screwed the pooch again and put it down for afternoon. I filed a formal complaint with HQ but if you ever get Cecilia just hang up or ask for Sharon. Anyways /rant off great tv however :p

[+] 2.0 Great tv while it was working. Then I had to deal with Samsung!
I ordered this tv from amazon in 06/08. It was delivered on time. The picture was the best I've seen. Then this month 11/08 it turned itself off during a program and would not turn back on. I called Samsung and was told there was only 1 authorized repair ctr for the state of CT. That person would have to come from over 100 miles away. They told me the next available appt would be in 8 days. Then the day of the appt. they said the part was backordered. I would have to wait another 11 days for them to come back. I called Samsung back and told them this was not acceptable to me to wait this long for a repair. I then requested a replacement tv. That's when they started giving me the run around. Passing me on to the next person. Keeping me on hold for 15 minutes at a time. Then finally telling me they have 21 business days to fix my tv. I'm still waiting for it to be repaired. Any way it's a great picture if they can repair it. But you should consider buying a Sony. Maybe they care a little more about their customers. Samsung sure doesn't

    [+] 2.0 TOO Shinny a Screen
I'm sorry a bought the TV now. The screen is definitely too glossy and reflects objects and light, especially when off, but also when it is on. I wish I had bought the 630 now with the matte screen or the Sony 52w4100. Look at the user supplied picture of his TV setup and all you see is reflections. If you want the glossy look, go with plasma, otherwise pick a matte screen 120hz model.

[+] 10.0 Just Awesome, can't think of a more creative word
Awesome TV --that about sums it up. Now I will go through the details. First, have the software upgrade available. I have received two of these TV's and the first one didn't require, the second one does. Simply download the driver from the Samsung support site and place it on a USB drive. If you select sw update from the setup menu, it will tell you if the version is the same, so it won't do it unless needed.

I have a basement with a window and a light right on top of the TV set. This is the first big advantage of this TV --namely the construction material of the screen. The low reflective layer simply ignores the external light source and it is almost as of it absorbs the light. The result is that the image from the TV is unaffected by the external light. It is as vivid regardless whether it's dark or daylight shining on the TV --truly amazing.

Another amazing fact of this material is it allows viewing from a very obtuse angle without losing clarity. Remember those airplane mounted LCD monitors which turns black when viewed from an angle? No such thing with this TV.

The picture simply looks fake. This is not a negative comment. Remember those magazine advertisements which always claim "simulated TV picture"? They basically cut and paste a picture to the TV screen. guess what, this TV looks fake. It looks like someone took a large poster of clear photo, and put it on the screen. Simply flawless.

I have played with the settings and found that the default "standard" setting is the best for my taste. You can make the screen a lot brighter if you want. I strongly suggest to not set the brightness too high. I have read reviews complaining about lcd cluding --where on very dark solid scenes, an uneven brightness is visible on the screen. Clouding is common due to the way LCD matrix works. One way to combat this effect is to avoid watching your television in completely dark rooms. Turn on a lamp with a low light setting to keep a small amount of ambient light in the room. Some LCD manufacters offer ambient light built in to their television (such as Philips Ambilight) but this option is not available on this TV. So if you review 100 different TV's (even though they are all the same model), it is not uncommon to find one or two sets which has worse lcd clouding issues than the other. Mine is just perfect.

The response time and 120hz made a big difference. A tv with 60 hz refreshes the screen 60 times a second. On an LCD screen, a high action picture can produce a blur simply because the refresh cannot cath up to the changes of the picture composition. Those days are over. 120 times per second the image is updated so it doesn't matter what movement or action you got on the screen --it remains picture perfect sharp.

I was rather worried about the "red" bezel but this was unnecessary. The color tone is very subtle.

Watching TV is a pleasure. I appreciate the channel list which actually reads the broadcaster info (station ID and the current program). The majority of the screens are smaller than what the screen can accomodate. Most cable deliveries (unless you have FIOS) do not deliver the full 1080p but a quick blu ray disk play will eliminate doubt that this is the most amazing HDTV.

The WiseLink option is extremely poorly programmed. I sticked in a USB drive with directories containing files mixed with pictures, music, etc. The system is over protective to the user and attempted to make life easy by tabulating *ALL* the pictures and music for you. I prefer to be able to browse my thumb drive directories. It is extremely annoying trying to get to a particular picture you wanted to see and having to go through literally thousands of JPG files. Remember, if you have files such as offline internet browsing files, every single button and pictures are saved as a JPG. This is a major flaw in the software rather than the TV. Hopefully the programming team can revise the software and allow direct browsing. Again, I have to clarify that this shortcoming is a software issue rather than TV performance.

When the TruSurround XT SRS sound option is enabled, the sound coming from the standard speakers is very commendable. The sound surround reproduction is rich as has dimension. This is probably moot for most users who will connect an AV receiver. Just make sure you have an optical cable to connect the TV to your AV receivers so you can get the best sound from the TV to your receiver as well.

One sound option that is really nice is the sound leveler which can be set to "ON" in the setup (the default is off so look for it under sound). With this option on, when you channel browse, you no longer get surprises on those channels which are much louder than its neighbors (or much lower). Adjusting the volume from channel to channel is a thing of the past. A very nice welcomed addition.

For those who struggle with component video cables please don't. You are shortchanging yourself. Please connect this TV using an HDMI cable. And don't go cheap on the HDMI cable. Make sure you get one with enough bandwidth to handle 1080p. It may cost more but it's worth it.

The 50,000 to 1 contrast ratio is not just hype. I have a Sharp Aquos in the house as well and I have great respect for that TV as well but it can't compete with the dynamic contrast ratio which makes a big difference in picture clarity. I don't think I have seen a unit which can produce a sharper picture than this TV.

20 Month old TV picture died (still has sound). No service in San Diego, and no response from authorized repair center after 3 calls. Bad circuit board which seems common if you Google search Samsung TV problems. Samsung service told me I was out of luck. Parts/labor to repair was quoted at over $500 when I finally got a Sears repair man to come out. For a premium quality product like Samsung, they take no pride in quality and have poor customer service. BUY AT YOUR OWN PERIL....."

Best Lcd TV, after much research, I narrowed my options to 3 Panasonic, Sony, Samsung. After several trips to different stores checking on price and comparing pictures. Samsung to me was a clear winner. Next choice where to buy. As it is just me, my biggest problem would be getting it in the house. Delivery seemed to be my best options. Nobody could match Amazon Sale price and it came with free delivery. They actually come inside and set it on the stand. I had the cables right there, HDMI and Sat.
A great experience and a perfect buy.

[+] 10.0 Fantastic TV and delivery
First, the white glove delivery service was perfect. They called the day before to schedule a delivery window and called 30 minutes before arriving. Delivery arrived right at the beginning of the delivery window. It was carried in, unpacked, powered on and hooked up to the component video feed to test the picture and audio. Everything worked perfectly out of the box.

This unit has a stunning picture with a plethora of tunable controls and features making this television a home run. I have a skylight and 4 windows in the room with the television so I was a little concerned about all the reviews mentioning the drawbacks of the glossy screen but it's proved not to be an issue at all. There is a slight glare during the day but it's actually far less than the glare on my old 32" CRT. Also, the touch of red is barely noticable and the bezel in general is very nice. The included pedestal's swivel capability is very nice as well. Finally, the 120Hz feature can make movies look fake but it's great for sports viewing.

Overall, I am extremely satisfied with this purchase.

[+] 10.0 After two months of use....
I've had the set for two months now.

From ordering to delivery to product quality, this was a very pleasant online purchase experience.

After narrowing my selection to Sharp, Sony, and Samsung, the Sammy won out based on picture quality and overall cost per feature. In deciding between the 650 and 750, the bezel on the 650 has a more elegant look. I thought the clear frame on the 750 looked and felt cheap, and prone to scratches, plus, I didn't need the additional features of the 750. The red tint of the TOC bezel on the 650 is barely noticeable, and provides subtle warmth to the frame. I have TV mounted directly on the wall and it looks like a piece of art.

The picture is excellent and I have had no problems with this set. Since my viewing room has windows on both side walls, I was concerned about reflection. Like other reviewers noted, this is not a problem (unless you sit at an extreme angle with the screen black.)

I recently tried the photo view mode. It was seamless. The TV recognized the camera device plugged into the USB port and displayed a slide presentation. Using the remote, I easily navigated through the pictures on the camera.

    [+] 4.0 Great TV - Poor delivery
I've only had this set for a few days, but it certainly lives up to what others are saying here - not much to complain about.

The delivery, however, was another matter. The Amazon web site said that Ceva would be providing the "white glove" delivery service, including carrying up stairs, unpacking it, setting it on a stand, and removal of the box.

What actually happened was that Amazon hired a company called Pilot (Eagan, MN) to do the delivery. The one guy that drives the truck was reluctant to carry it up the 10 steps from my driveway to the front door, but did it anyway, saying that "We're really not supposed to do this". When he got it to the front door, I pointed to the TV stand in my living room 15 feet away. He said "This is as far as I go." I showed him the printout from the Amazon site about the "white glove" service. He said he knew nothing about that.

It was only after I refused to take delivery of the set that he called his boss on his cell. The boss said that the delivery guy would have to do what Amazon promised, except that I had to help lift it onto the stand and he still refused to carry away the box.

A very unsatisfying way to start the experience with my new TV.

    Lessons learned:
    * Print a copy of the Amazon listing, especially the page describing what the delivery man has to do.
    * Anyone who expects a good delivery experience should contact Amazon directly to make sure that their web site's claims will be honored by their delivery service.

    [+] 10.0 Perfect TV Purchase
I has been a month since I have the TV. The rave reviews at Amazon gave me the confidence to purchase the biggest ticket item I ever bought through the Internet. I chose the Samsung LN52A650 model after months of research and contemplation. The CNET's Editor's Choice award helped too. I bought it with the Samsung Blu-ray player with an extra $200 off. What a deal to get HD movie quality! The picture quality is wonderful, clear, accurate color, etc. It is even spectacular after adjusting the settings recommended by CNET. For the price, I believe that the Samsung LN52A650 is a much better buy than the Sony's. I could see that the glossy screen might be a problem for others in bright settings. However, this is not a problem for me as the TV is in part of my basement that is away from windows. The CEVA delivery went very smoothly without any problem. I got a call from them as soon as the TV was at the delivery center. They delivered the TV in the time slot they said they would come. There were two guys, not just one guy as in some of the reviews mentioned here. They unpacked the TV and brought it to where I wanted to put in the basement. They helped me hooked it up and tested it before they left. This was a perfect purchase. No regrets! Thank you, Amazon for a perfect purchase.

I researched and shopped for a few years before finally making the investment, read all of the reviews and bought this baby a month ago and I am 100% satisfied, no regrets at all. After setting it up, I went to a few links noted on amazon comment lists where it was said you can tweak your color and sharpness settings provided by other users. After a few links and tries, I got even better reception than factory settings. The HDTV channels are awesome, and even the regular channels look good on cable. Watching football and sports on HD is really a treat every time. The baseball playoffs and world series on this LCD was mesmerizing. You cannot miss with this TV in my opinion and the price is unbeatable. I used a DV cable instead of the connectors my cable company gave me, the cable connectors transmitted a weird kind of color glow. I swapped the cable co. cables with a DV cable and BAM, perfect picture. I live in Tucson and the white glove delivery was great! Enjoy!

    [+] 10.0 LN52A650 is a good choice
I've had the LN52A650 for nearly a month and I am quite satisfied with my purchase. This HDTV has a great picture and plenty of options to tweak to customize your picture. Some people complain about the reddish tint of the frame and also complain about a shiny screen. So far, I've found these to things to be a non-issue. On my HDTV, you have to look pretty hard to notice that there's any hint of red in the frame. In fact, I think it looks kind of cool. Also, the screen doesn't seem to be as reflective as some people say. The picture is clear and strong, even with the drapes in my living room open. I'd recommend this HDTV to anyone. It also received high marks from the editors of CNET. Can't wait to get an Xbox 360 and hook it up to my Samsung.

    [+] 10.0 VERY PLEASED
First, I am VERY happy with Amazon's price and service! I got $350 refund after I purchased my TV because Amazon has a 30 day price guarantee. You can get a refund if you see a lower price for your same TV on Amazon and e-mail them. They process the credit within a day! Check every day and you can request multiple credits anytime the price is lower for 30 days after shipment.
Second, the television was the lowest price of any reputable internet shop and much LOWER than any retail store (Best Buy, Circuit City, Brands Mart, Frye's). I saved about $1,000 compared to a regular store.
I was NOT charged shipping or tax. The delivery service was good and they set up the television for me. TV was delivered in perfect condition.
The TV is great..Animation (Cars, etc) is amazing on this TV...HDTV, blueray, DVD, and playstation look great.
Motion is greatly improved on this LCD with the 120MZ processing (you need to select if you want it turned off, on, medium, or high). Motion on plasma may be incrimentally better, but the picture and color of this TV is #1!!!
I am recommending Amazon to all my friends and you for electronics purchases...Also, they have cheap options for purchasing HDMI and other cables for your home theater.

    [+] 10.0 Samsung 52 Inch 120Hz LCD HDTV
Samsung LN52A850 52-Inch 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV with RED Touch of Color Best 52 Inch 120Hz LCD's I could identify in the market. Product was at a price far below Best Buy and Circuit City. It was shipped quickly with white glove installation in the home by the delivery person. Worked flawlessly from the start. It is a smart set and thus recognizes immediately other equipment attached. Thus it knows when the DVD has started or a photo SD Card has been inserted. It provides its own slide show for photos. One area that needs improvement however is the annoying time delay switching from channel to channel as a black screen stays in place far too long before the next channel appears. I have accepted the delay as part of the price paid in order to present the best quality picture possible. As for picture quality, I feel like it reproduces a picture at least equal to that being sent to it by cable, photos, etc. The quality of a 52 inch photo in a slide show presentation is really impressive. I am very please with this set and would recommend it to anyone who is interested in a new TV.

    [+] 10.0 Exceptional
I'm not going to repeat all the positive things that have been written about this TV. Let me just say they are all true and the Amazon White Glove service was flawless. The big box stores just can't compete. In fact, it's not even close. I don't think most people know that if you charge this on your Amazon Visa card the original warranty is doubled at no cost. By using Amazon,I avoided sales tax, paid no delivery fee and got an extended warranty at no cost. Savings of about $400.

This is our second large screen LCD. The first was a Westinghouse 47 inch LCD we bought from a big box store. Let me just say that the quality of the Samsung TV is vastly superior to the Westinghouse. Here again it is not even a close call. My advice to buyers is avoid Westinghouse, get this TV and buy it from Amazon.

[+] 10.0 Fantastic picture, well worth the price
This is by far one of the best HDTVs I have seen. The colors are striking and beautiful, the blacks are really deep. My friend has a Pioneer plasma and I was pleasantly surprized to find that this TV outperforms the plasma in some while matching the plasma in all other respects.

The speakers are really bad, so you should invest in a home theatre system when you buy this. I guess most HDTV manufacturers don't generally include good speakers since they assume that you will be anyway going for a home theatre. The remote is OK, but could have been made more attractive - I hate the clumsy jog dial. But the TVs performance more than makes for all these minor shortcomings.

The red color on the bezel is lovely - all my friends liked it too :).
One minor issue is that the bezel reflects a lot of light - but trust me, once you start watching the TV, you generally will be so enthralled that you won't notice the bezel's reflection. Truly a masterpiece. Touchwood.

The Infolink feature I feel is unwanted - a full blown browser would have been worthwhile specially since this TV has a native resolution of 1080 and so to use it as a decent computer monitor, you would need a graphics card that has 1080 lines and I haven't seen any that has exactly 1080 lines.

The TV does take 3-4 seconds to start - not a big problem. The menu is pretty good.

Overall, I rated it as a 5 star because of its superb picture quality.

[+] 8.0 Gorgeous display, but gamers need to be aware of input lag
Echoing many of the reviews here, this TV is absolutely gorgeous for watching TV and movies, and if that's all I did I would give it a five-star review.

That said, I want to mention something that can be important to gamers - something I wish was pointed out to me before I made my purchase. This TV has fairly major "input lag", the delay between the time it receives a video signal and when it displays that signal on the screen. In standard video modes, there is a bit less than 1/10th of a second delay, which may not seem like much but is enough to make console gaming extremely frustrating for some people, especially for games that require "lightning reflexes" (rhythm games, first person shooters). While some games (Rock Band, Guitar Hero, etc.) can be calibrated to compensate for this lag, many cannot be.

The "Game Mode" on the TV is designed to help reduce this lag, and it does reduce it significantly. But this mode comes at a huge cost... the picture quality cannot be adjusted *at all* while in Game Mode, and it defaults to extreme levels of brightness, contrast, and sharpness, making the picture look, in my opinion, absolutely awful. I could not stand gaming with these picture settings as everything appeared pixelated and oversaturated.

A Google search for "a650" and "input lag" will bring up additional information about this problem, but I haven't seen it discussed often enough in these comments, and as a gamer, I wish it had been. I'll be returning this TV likely in favor of a Sony, since by all accounts they have the least input lag of the major LCD brands. The Samsung likely has a better picture, but as a gamer, I need a TV that can handle gaming as well as movies and TV viewing.

I hope this helps some fellow gamers not to fall into a similar "trap". For non-gamers, this TV is about as good as it gets and is an amazing value.

    [+] 10.0 Great 52" LCD TV
I've had my Samsung 650 for a little over a month now. I couldn't be happier. I did the research. I read the reviews. I did the in-store comparisons. AND, I was still skeptical ordering this TV. BUT, once I got it setup and running. I say it again I couldn't be happier. The TV is literally a work of art. The picture is absolutely beautiful! The HD programming has the appearance of 3D. The SD programming is fine but honestly I never watch SD anymore. The remote is a little strange or awkward but I rarely use it except for turning the 120hz on and off. The 120hz feature is great for sports. College football has never looked so good! The sound is good especially with the surround sound setting turned on. I am sure if you hooked it up to a home theater system it would add to the experience but to me its not bad at all without one. The touch of color is barely noticeable unless you are looking for it. The TOC is a nice subtle touch I think...But back to the picture...The colors and images are amazing. I did do some calibrating based on reading some expert AVS forums. Everyone who comes over to my house is blown away by this TV! I am definitely blown away but its great when your friends and family come over and they are geeked out about your TV. I have never had that experience before...The delivery was painless. It came within a week of ordering and they opened the box and set it up for me. I bought an Oppo 1080p up-converting dvd player and my old dvd's look great! Can't wait till I can afford blu-ray...I will probably never leave my couch then. Anyhow, I used these reviews on Amazon to make my decision on this TV so I figured I needed to return the favor. Enjoy!

[+] 10.0 After a lot of research, I picked this one
This TV was CNET's editor's choice back in the spring. It also scored highly in consumer reports.

My personal experience has been very good. For the price, this TV is a bargain. I don't think you'll find another 1080p 52" for this price. It's much bigger in the living room than on the show-room floor.

I'm no technical guru, but the picture looks great. When the 120 Hz processor is turned all the way up, it can make some shows/movies have that distorted "soap opera" look. On sports (e.g. the Olympics or football), it looks great.

I researched TV's for almost a year before buying this one. You won't find a better deal. The picture is great. If you've been looking to make the jump to a big screen TV, this one is for you.

[+] 8.0 Great TV. And Amazon was a great place to buy it.
The TV is temporarily being used in my home office while I finish building out the TV room. Even in this less than ideal room the TV's colors are bright and vivid. It also does an excellent job with blacks and dark colors. I can't wait to put it in the TV room and get it set up right.

HD channels are stunning and SD channels are at least tolerable. On some HDTVs I looked at the SD channels were horrible.

As a personal preference I do not like the remote control's 'wheel' interface. Its too sensitive and feels flimsy.

And lastly a review about Amazon:
Amazon's delivery was prompt, high quality (through CEVA) and at no extra charge. I ended up buying this TV at its peak price but Amazon was very polite and quick to honor their 30 day price guarantee as the price dropped considerably right after I bought it.

[+] 10.0 amazing tv, very satisfied purchase
I was going to get the a550 in the first place. After comparing the a550 and the a650 at a local Sears, I saw the difference. I really liked the more vibrant colors from the a650's glossy screen. Glossy means glare but it's really not in issue. I have windows on the side of the living room and it's fine.

Then the price of the a750 came down to 2318 (early July?), which was lower than the a650's price at that time. After comparing the two, I went for the a650 instead. Picture quality-wise, they're the same. I liked the more curved design of the a650 vs the rectangular shape of the a750. Also, the a750 does not swivel and a number of people complained about the "halo effect." It's hard to see it at the local store. I wasn't going to take the risk and plus, a TV is also a decoration in the living room (IMHO). I just waited for the price of the a650 to be a little bit lower...

After reading all (or almost all) the reviews here about the TV itself and buying from Amazon, I pulled the trigger when the price went down to 2269.99 from 2299.99. I felt very comfortable purchasing a big TV online from a big retailer. Everything went as expected. My purchase was made on the night of the 15th (Tuesday). It shipped out the next day and the price was lowered to 2199.99, which Amazon refunded me after I simply emailed them. The TV was delivered on Friday afternoon (18th). Two guys carried it in, set it on my TV stand, connected the DVD player to it, and made sure it works. They took all the trash with them and reminded me to keep the box for 30 days in case of a return/exchange.

The TV is great! Enough said.
